A hole in the wall restaurant that is 100% worth trying in the Gardena area. Met up with friends and went as soon as they opened. They have a lot in the back where you can park. The food was AMAZING. The server/cook, Joon, was so helpful when we were trying to decide what to order. Love that they have a page of their recommended food items. The spicy cucumber arugula salad was definitely one of the best I've had. Nice and refreshing! I also enjoyed their seafood pajeon and pork belly dish. I wish I lived closer because this would be a great place to go to for drinks too! Highly recommend!
Woowa is an extremely charming late-night spot nested on Western Ave, the legendary street that spans from Hollywood all the way down to PV. I highly recommend making a visit as they do Korean-Italian fusion in a very interesting way that you can't find anywhere else. I've been here about three times now -- earlier into the restaurant's opening and have been pleased to see its growth in such a short amount of time. Let's start with the appetizers; the rice paper-wrapped boneless fried chicken was very surprising. It's unlike other fried chicken, with a lighter texture that doesn't sacrifice the juice. It's a great snack throughout the night. I wasn't a big fan of the arugula salad as it was way too acidic (too much vinegar) and hope that gets adjusted. I do wish they'd add soy garlic WINGS... we are severely lacking in quality wings in Gardena and think Woowa would kill it. CM chicken across the street does not pass my bar, nor does Love Letter a few blocks down. There's also the kimchi pancake, which was very sizable and perfect for a group of 4. They fortunately provide a "top hits" menu, so I recommend you order from that last on your first visit. The top one is the bulgogi meatball, served with a killer gochujang salad. The salad needs to be a side option! The meatball was juicy and well-balanced; the rice was impeccably soft and paired well. You did order alcohol, right...? Because there's more to discuss. The N Pork Belly was INCREDIBLE. It's the highest quality pork belly in Korea and the dish was served on a cast-iron skillet, making every bite juicy and crispy all at once. It's a nice "side dish" as it doesn't come with rice or pasta. The brisket set is no longer on the menu as of writing but I quite enjoyed that one! Next top dish would be the carbonara and risotto - very creamy, yet the Korean flavors shine through to make every bite nostalgic and playful. I thoroughly enjoyed the chapaghetti - I ordered it with pork belly but they should add a steak option to reference the dish in the Parasite film...! I would probably pass on the smoke bulgogi next time around as it didn't wow me enough; the chicken noodle soup was very heartwarming and I think it'd be perfect after tons of alcohol. I've even been to Woowa during the world cup game and it was the perfect atmosphere. The owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming and you can tell every detail has been treated with care. I will say, between the dishes and drinking, the bill can run you up. I believe my average check is ~$120. I wished there were smaller plates with smaller prices so that groups of 2 can budget better, or groups can try more options. During the daytime, they do sell Korean-inspired sandwiches, so that's also another way to get a cheaper bite. Reminds me of The Bear... :) Overall, I am always a champion for late-night eats in Gardena; we always need more! Woowa is the perfect destination spot or even a companion spot to Donna's bar nextdoor. Give them a try!!! I'll see you there.
Woowa is a nice Korean/Italian located in a small strip building on the corner of Marine and Western Ave. Street parking is available and also about 8 parking stalls around back. The owner is a nice fellow and tonight when we for dinner, he was a one man show. Hosting, waiting and cooking and did everything really well. He took the time to explain the menu and even gave great recommendations. We made a reservation and highly recommend that as they get pretty busy even other yelpers suggested it. Overall a great dining experience!
Always passed by here, looked mysterious and wanted to give it a shot! Came here on a Thursday night with some friends. There's a few parking spots in the back and street parking. Inside there's a couple of tables and bar seating. We shared: Pancake: (3/5) least favorite dish. Feel like it wasn't very hot, flavor was decent though Fries with beef (5/5) beef was so tender, sauces were good and it was good ole crispy fries Rose pasta with meatball (4/5): wish the sauce was more flavorful, was definitely more garlic forward. the meatball was more like a patty and was slightly sweet which was good. Beef with salad/rice (5/5): beef was nice and tender. Same beef they used on the fries. Nice it came with their salad too. Service was really friendly, it was one guy who I think may be the manager or owner. Would come back to try the other dishes!
This place is a must-visit! They serve amazing Korean food with a creative Italian twist, making the menu incredibly fun and diverse. We tried the Tteokgalbi, Soy Garlic Chicken, and the Spicy Cucumber Arugula Salad, and the combination was absolute perfection. The flavors were bold and uniquely executed, keeping every bite exciting. What truly blew us away, though, was the exceptional hospitality. The owner was incredibly sweet and friendly--noticing we had a baby with us, he thoughtfully brought out some baby snacks, rice, and seaweed before our food even arrived! It was such a warm, touching gesture that made our dining experience so comfortable. With phenomenal food, unique menu choices, and genuinely caring service, this spot is a total must-visit. We'll definitely be back!
This place was amazing! My husband and I ordered the rose ttokbokki (with beef belly and corn cheese!) and pork belly- both dishes were packed with flavor and so delicious. The staff was also super friendly and made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere was cozy, clean, and perfect for hanging out with friends or family. A nice little gem in Gardena! My hubby just found out about this place and brought us here for lunch! It's small and cozy on the inside and there's a decent amount of seating. It wasn't too busy when we got there for Sunday lunch. We ordered: - woowa chicken: very light and crispy on the outside, super juicy on the inside - ramyeon risotto: it even had a little presentation by the chef! Tasted great! Savory and def a little kick - pork belly: came with cooked onions and kimchi. Meat was a little on the saltier side but with the onions and kimchi, very good! Unfortunately, we were starving and didn't take pics until we were done eating Will def come back to try some other dishes! Oh, I can't write a review without talking about parking. There's a small lot in the back and also residential parking.

I sat at the bar and had the best experience! The owner was incredibly friendly, and the fusion dishes were so unique and delicious. Especially the Oil Sujebi, the broth had the perfect spicy kick, and the clams were perfectly cleaned with absolutely no grit. The vibe totally captures that trendy, emotional Korean bar style, making me feel like I was actually drinking back in Korea. Everything felt so fresh that I kept saying "Woowa" (Wow) without even realizing it--the name of the place is just perfect! I'm so glad Gardena finally has a spot like this that stays open late. Definitely coming back!

Just want to start off saying I already love this place when I hear them playing Trance music. This is such a nice and intimate gem in Glendale! Parking is easy since they have their own lot in the back and seating area is quite good. We got the cheese tteok galbi plate, the ChunCheon Dak Attack sandwich, and the garlic parmesan fries. The tteok galbi was really interesting because I never had Korean meatballs before, but it was so juicy and flavorful! It came with a bed of rice and dressed salad. The cheese was the way to abandon but I should have asked if they could make it spicy and cheesy. Cant believe I never knew these existed Also, the ChunCheon Dak Attack sandwich had these huge chunks of marinated chicken in addition to these crispy chips for texture and some cabbages. I'm going to die for. Good call to get garlic parm fries with them too because they went well with the sandwich. Be sure to bring a jacket though. It is a little chilly. But id freeze my ass off for these foods again so we're chillin. read more

We've been coming here two days in a row. The food is amazing -- everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. My favorite dishes are the Rose pasta, pork belly, and rose tteokbokki, but honestly, everything is so good. The ambiance is so cozy; it makes me feel like I'm at a friend's house, enjoying food made from their own kitchen. I really hope they get more customers soon because everything here is fantastic -- from the food to the service. Joon is also the best chef -- he cooks incredible food and provides excellent service. My foodie family tried the food here for the first time and all the food we ordered was almost licked out off the plate! Thats how good all the dishes! Its Michelin Star quality ! You'll see Chef Joon preparing/cooking his dishes at his open kitchen and you'll see the passion and pride. His wife, who serves our food also shows pride on their food. Weird That yelp is deleting reviews so here i am updating and rewriting it. I have Just tried the new restaurant Woowa in Gardena and it absolutely lives up to its name. The story behind it is adorable. The name "Woowa" comes from the owner's kid saying "wow" in Korean whenever he eats something amazing and delicious and thats the literal translation in korean. Woowa offers different menus for lunch and dinner, and lunch is a must-try. They serve unique Korean fusion sandwiches featuring brisket and chicken. I ordered the Cheon dak attack and the chicken was flavorful and crispy, and the deep-fried sweet potato chips inside the sandwich took it to another level and elevated the experience. The interior is clean, modern, and welcoming, and the service is genuinely friendly, which makes the experience even better. Everything from the concept to the execution feels thoughtful and passionate. If you're in Gardena and looking for something new, delicious, and different, Woowa is 100% worth checking out. Food was unique and exciting twists on Korean dishes with other cooking methods from other cuisines. It was a good Korean gastropub taste with a touch of creative "Woowa", which is a Korean onomatopoeia said when something is surprising in a good way. Got the ginseng chicken risotto and the rose gnocchi. The ginseng chicken risotto is perfect for curing a hangover and is like a traditional ginseng chicken soup minus the bones. The rose gnocchi was delicious and unique, creamy with a bit of tanginess. The inside is comfortable with an older school vibe while still feeling clean. It's a new restaurant, so service thus far has been really good and attentive. There's parking in the back and street parking was not too difficult on a Friday night. read more

E V E R Y T H I N G, and I mean everything about this authentic Korean Italian restaurant is exceptional. This is a small business with BIG flavor. My husband and I have dined here twice and every time have been so satisfied that we can't wait to come back to try new dishes. Our first visit we had was the soy slow cooked beef brisket, pork jowl, and toowoomba ramyeon cream risotto. Our second visit, we had pork belly, Woowa fried chicken boneless (special recipe) and the cream risotto again because it was THAT GOOD I had to get it again! Every dish was well executed. The depth of flavors felt so comforting and familiar while chef's mastery of complex technique makes us keep coming back for more. Woowa is extraordinary and stands out from other Korean spots. The chef came to check in on us and see how the food tasted...he was kind, friendly and humble. I can tell he takes so much pride in his creations and know's what he's doing in the kitchen. The waitstaff is very friendly as well, we felt very welcomed. Dishes are made to order and come out as soon as they're prepared. We came here for a late lunch and ordered the spicy tteokgalbi and grilled pork belly with kimchi. The food was amazing and perfectly cooked--the flavors were outstanding. The portions were generous and definitely worth the price. Even though we arrived close to closing time, the service was still excellent and we didn't feel rushed at all. Food (Tteok Galbi meal set): 4.5 -- If you're hungry, this is the order to get. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the salad with dressing was surprisingly good, as was the rice. Woowa is korean restaurant with a modern and trendy twist. I had lunch at Woowa on a Saturday afternoon. Lunch and dinner menu are different. I tried the tteok galbi (salad and rice included) and chuncheon dak attack (mild spicy chicken sandwich), both are delicious and unique! The mac salad is also delicious, not too creamy. I'm not a big fan of mustard, but enjoyed it very much. Service was quick and fast, one unisex restroom in the restaurant. Will be back for nighttime dinner and drinks!! read more

My sister and I found this gem through social media and yelps hot and new place. We decided to stop by, and the first time we came for lunch without realizing they had a different lunch menu. however the owner/chef was very understanding when we told him we'd come back when the dinner menu was active. fast forward a 2 weeks and we came by at 7 pm, there were about two tables actively seated. And the owner directly came by to introduce his menu (on a clipboard) and explain the popular items. We got the rose sujebi, tteok galbi fries, arugula cucumber salad, pork jowl.... and a bottle of hwayo;) All hands. down. DELISH. the arugula cucumber salad is clearly a great "korean" side for the more creamy mains. awesome and so intentional that they use such "delicate" powders like beet power and apple powder to accompany the salad. the pork jowl was perfectly crispy on the outside on a bed of grilled onions and fresh garlic and aged kimchi. my favorite: the rose sujebi so yum yum chewy with delicately sliced salami slices and not as creamy as you'd think and the perfect drinking side dish--fries with tteok galbi (which they hand make every day) with a dash of spicy sauce all in all a VERY FUN TIME (we ordered all this between two girls thinking we were gonna take SOMETHING to go but alas..... we ate everything LOL) read more
