I came here for a friend's birthday on a weekday, and they were able to accommodate a large party very very easily. Everything was also delicious, reasonably priced, and came out so fast! We got the bossam, kimchi fried rice, chicken wings, kimchi pancake, chicken feet, and sausage and rice cake skewers. I liked the jalapeños in it. Kimchi fried rice: my bf really liked it. Good flavor, decently spicy and a lot of sesame oil flavor. It had cut up hot dogs in it which I hate lol but my bf really liked. It does have a decent amount of cheese in it... I would prob ask for no cheese next time. Tteok-bokki: the rice cakes themselves tasted like you could tell they were frozen but it was still good. There was fish cake and some veggies and the broth was a bit sweet but good. I can see why you would maybe order it with ramen. This was prob my fav dish. Korean style bone in chicken wings: Disappointing. We had an amazing time here! They make everything fresh and to order so it may it a while for the food to arrive. The rice cake and sausage were pretty good. They drizzle a sweet and salty sauce on top which I enjoyed. The spicy pork bulgogi is the best dish imo. It was perfectly seasoned with some carrots and kimchi. I've eaten here several times since they opened. They're great for both dining in or takeout, and their staff always greets us warmly and provides great service. The few times I've been, it's been on the dimmer side - but that's probably because I've visited late at night when it's not as busy. Food is solid, I've yet to have a bad dish here. My personal favorites include: fish cake soup, kimchi cheese fried rice, soy garlic chicken. Beer selection is decent too, they've got one of my favorites - Terra Service is quick and super attentive. Waiters are always happy to answer questions about the menu and if you need to verify certain portion/sizes. Now we know a handful of spots in our neighborhood that are open after midnight! It's nice to know this closes late. It was busy on a Saturday evening so it took a while to order but once we ordered, the food came out within 15-20 minutes. Everything tasted delicious. Hubbers' flight was arriving later than scheduled (no thanks to Southwest Airlines' track record of delayed flights) which means dinner will have to be late night eats. As I drive out of LAX, Hubbers did some Yelp search and said, "88 Pocha...?!" In a heartbeat, I told him we should try it. "I've had them bookmarked for awhile, let's go?" Next thing I knew, we were parking right outside! We had a little under a couple of hours left before closing, so we didn't feel at all like we had to rush. We were greeted and seated immediately along with water as well as menus on hand. We took a bit too long to decide because we couldn't decide what to get! Oh, so many to choose from! I felt a little bad because it took a 3rd time for our server to come back before we finally made up our minds. I took a few to take a look around as we patiently awaited for our food. I love the wall of bottles as decor. (It caught my eye immediately soon as we came in, other than the blue frog up front, of course.) It's a clever way to repurpose them and they did it without making the place look like a frat house. I also appreciate the chop sticks and spoons all ready for you on the table. That's pretty efficient. I must have focused on these things longer than I needed since the next thing I knew... FOOD!!! SOY GARLIC SAUCE WINGS: The sauce is the absolute center of the wings' flavor profile! I've had my share of this same sauce on wings, but this here is exceptional! Perfect balance of sweet and savory, each wing was coated thoroughly but still maintained its crunch on the outside and moist on the inside. What a great starter! SEAFOOD CREAM PASTA: I was in the mood for pasta, so I went for this. I'll be happy to report it was made to order because it was delivered off-the-pan HOT!!! I went into a slight disappointment when I noticed it was a bit too saucy for my taste, but that immediately went away soon as I took a taste/sip of it. The flavor is deep and well put together! The pasta was cooked to an almost-perfect al dente and they were generous with the amount of seafood they included here: shrimp, mussels, squid, clams, scallops. I ate this almost tsukemen style. It was also a lot for one person, this can be easily shared by two people. SPICY PORK BULGOGI: Hubbers' choice for main. I hesitated to try it because I wasn't sure how spicy it was. He said it wasn't bad, that I may be able to handle it. So I took a bite... then another... and a third... and I had to stop because I didn't wanna end up nicking most of his food (even if I was already full from my own dish!) Delicious! (He ended up emptying his plate, so that says a lot!) FOOD: 5. We were kinda patting ourselves in the back for making good grub choices! SERVICE: 5. Our server was friendly and made sure we had what we needed. The call button on the table is a clever idea, that came in very handy! VALUE: 4. A bit on the pricey side, but still more than fair. I would say in comparison to places in Ktown, 88 Pocha's dishes are smaller and more expensive. Food is ok and hits the spot, but isn't amazing. They do have a good assortment of options with all the yummy classics. For 3 people, we ordered the Robboki, kimchi fried rice, and rose pasta. Of the 3 my least favorite was the pasta, but the other 2 were solid. I don't think I'll be frequenting 88 Pocha, but will come by when the cravings hit and Ktown is just too far. read more
