    Caesar salad
    Linda K.

I was doing laundry around the corner and decided to grab something to eat since I'd be there for a few hours. This place popped up, so I ordered fries and a Caesar salad. It's not the best-looking place -- definitely more of a mom-and-pop spot -- but the food surprised me! I will be back to try other options. The fries were so good, super crispy, and they gave a really generous portion. I think there might've been a mix-up with the salad dressing -- it seemed more like an Italian olive oil dressing instead of Caesar -- but it still tasted pretty good, light and flavorful.

This place has good food. Their service is great and the ambience is fantastic. I highly recommend this place.

Boit Mernem Sandwich Classic Burger with Fries

Absolutely loved the food at World Cafe! The sandwich was a 10/10 and the burger was a solid 9. The fries were also delicious! The workers were incredibly nice! The outdoor seating had a heater and music playing and it felt incredibly cozy to be here. Definitely would come back! Especially because they told us they're adding way more options to their menu soon! Can't wait to try more :)

Very small, very good for a quick passing-by bite on the fly. The Philly Steak sandwich was wonderful, prepared in front of my eyes, with fresh and crispy bread. Mmmh, perfect for what it was!

SO DELICIOUS! Found this gem on Yelp and it did not disappoint. Every bite was full of flavor, and the pickles are amazing! Outdoor seating available, friendly staff.

Hungry. Looking for food. Friend suggests World Cafe. I'm always game to try new places. Always. This is the way. The fatty way. First - follow the instructions. Don't blink. You'll pass it up. Street parking. On Verdugo. And on California. Small lot in back. Don't know if it's for the laundromat only. Check signage. No table service. Order. Find a seat. Probably outdoors. Small counter inside. Good for three. Maybe four people. Outdoor covered seating. Again, no table service. Need something - go to the counter. Though no service - staff (cashier + cook), so friendly. So nice. Not sure if they're the owners. So, on to the food ... Ordered a Chicken Burger (with mushrooms & cheese) + fries. Plus a Roast Beef Sandwich. See pics. Free drink with Yelp check in. Got a Coke. So delicious. So good. Ingredients just hit the spot. The special sauce added to the flavor. Was skeptical of the Yelp rating. Always nice when the ratings are spot on.

Food was great (massive serving for what you pay). I had the burger and it did not disappoint. If you are anywhere near LA, I'd suggest taking a quick drive to try the food. Small business with quality ingredients and hometown feeling service. I'm from the Bay Area, and when I come next, I'll be sure to visit.

Roast beef sandwich combo (with soda)
    Elena C.

Delicious roast beef sandwich with an exotic twist! Their roast beef alone is already good, but they added onions, parsley, cucumber and spices which makes it a delight on every bite. The dip is just right for both the sandwich and fries. Only order the fries when you're really hungry, because the portion is pretty big. Overall it's a hearty meal combo and the price reflects it. Oh and they no longer honor the check in free soda.

I thought that they possibly had a happy hour, but either they stopped it, or they didn't advertise it. I think a happy hour would help draw a bit of a crowd and get more people there. They have a good selection of spirits and a handful of beer on tap. Overall, it was a fine visit for a drink, but was not very memorable or anything that would justify 5 stars. I'll probably try out somewhere different next time before heading to dinner. They have outdoor and indoor seating, and the over ambiance is fine. Not too loud and not too quiet. That said, I hadn't been there in a good decade and I have to say things need some attention... My date and I arrived at the messiest of bars and witnessed bartenders electing to joke around with one another before cleaning up the bar portion we sat at or even take our order, things which SHOULD take priority. We get the previous customers spent and dirty plates removed, the counter wiped down, and our orders put in eventually however: 1 Mai Tai and 1 Chi Chi and Coconut Shrimp as well as another appetizer I'm forgetting. The drinks are solid. Expensive. But fine. The food just feels like re-heated junk. The horseradish we read as being part of some exotic sounding dipping sauce for one of the appetizers? Not present. Not even a tad bit of horseradish in the dipping sauce for the coconut shrimp. Just some sweet stuff. When questioned about it, they cop to that being the case for some time and that it is often forgotten in the prep. Huh. Oh well. It's just sloppy enough of a showing food-wise that we forego having dinner there and mosey elsewhere. Will give it another go sometime soon. Damon's? Go for the cocktails.

With the seemingly ever-changing landscape along Brand Blvd. in downtown Glendale, this establishment has been around since 2012 (which I believe was the first and only time I came here). Primarily known for its inventive craft cocktails and a killer whiskey selection, it was a nice place to sneak away into before or after your main event... or, maybe this could be the place to spend an entire evening. Would this bar famously make an impression on me to remember to return in the future!? Once we closed out our tabs, we were thanked for coming as we headed out into the night. Everything was chill and easy - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance): I parked in the nearby original Glendale Galleria parking structure and simply walked over first to The Americana then to this place. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A dark cavernous speakeasy-like place with open space, various tables and couches strewn about, and a large long somewhat decorative bar with an impressive whiskey selection displayed behind it. I appreciated the exposed brick walls which gave it that old-time feel with a few framed pictures hung on them. Minimal natural lighting came through the front doors and windows while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in rest. There was at least one projection TV where we watched the Dodgers game while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=SomLKsk1KVcemeOCHGOZfg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...
