First of all, I spend a lot of money in this store and other locations. I support this company. Until today. Came in this store with my dog and was asked if my dog was a "service dog". Yes my dog is a service dog. Later while I was by the front, I saw another lady go in with a dog, and the same person did not asked them. What's the difference? My dog is bigger than the other dog. I can bring a license if needed. But that was not appreciated. There shouldn't be a "size prejudice" when it comes to dogs. My dog is a service dog. Second, when I asked the same person regarding aprons, she said that, "What is out there is out." I mentioned that online says that it can be picked up. What if I purchased it online and get there and it's "not there"? She didn't offer to look it up on the system. The customer service was awful and unwelcoming. The prejudice towards my dog was not acceptable and the way she said it and tone was awful. I still spent money here because I needed things. The General Manager for this store should do something about this. If you ask one person about their dog, ask everyone. Basically all the time especially after reading that the store was dog friendly and then calling to confirm. Today, I walked in and the chubby guy working the cash register at around 1130 am kicked me out for having a dog after asking if mine with the service dog and i responded no. His snarky little attitude did not help him at all. He claims that that has been in effect for a while since they've been selling food for a while. I havent stopped by in years even though I'm pretty close, but I was waiting for my tacos to be served nearby so I popped in. And holy shit they sell the BEST CANDY EVER called Bon Bons! I havent had these since high school french club (I graduated in 2005) and when I looked online the prices were so pricey! But lo and behold here they are, in a good size bag for a bomb ass price. Very bizarre experience with online ordering, but more poignantly trash customer service. Order confirmed 6 days ago, email stated it wasn't ready for pickup yet. Called them to see what was going on, spoke to Grace. Someone else had bought the item prior to me and they were waiting to see if they wanted it (weird flex but ok). They call me back a couple of hours later to tell me the item is actually open box and "in pieces" and it's up to me if I want it. I was leaving for vacation out of state and asked them if they are able to hold the item for me until I got back (per the confirmation email, the item would be held for me in store for 10 days)- they said no the longest they can hold it is until tomorrow. Then I got an email this morning that my order was cancelled. So just to be clear, you have 6 days to decide if my item is even available, but I have only 4 hours to come and pick it up once you guys have it??? Zero integrity. read more

Good selection of imported home decor like furniture and pillows, food & drinks, soaps, lotions, and more. I love that they sell terrariums, but even better are their whimsical and quirky finds which are great for gifts or parties. It is a little pricey, but you won't be able to find a unique gift like that anywhere else. You will definitely find something fun and different than the boring Hallmark card or gift card. Although I like strolling through this place, I always leave empty handed. Three stars because I'm able to tame the wild shopper inside me when I'm here. I was trying to purchase 6 pieces of the Hayes sectional through the online store for 3 days and it kept saying there was technical difficulties, try back later. Not sure what the problem was, maybe because there was a glitch in the home delivery system. I ended up just going in the store with the hopes of being able to purchase on site and have it delivered. I'm so glad I did! The service was awesome! Store representatives April and Rebecca took the time to listen to my issue and find out if the pieces were in stock and schedule delivery. Interesting finds that one would rarely find anywhere else. My family and I have been shoppers of Cost Plus for a long time and I have fond memories of great food finds here, especially during the holidays (German fruit cake and etc). Nowadays, I still love coming to shop around and seeing the different seasonal items they have. After Christmas, they always have great sales on Christmas cards, treats, and etc. They sell everything from furniture, kitchen utensils, home decor, food, to liquor. The only downside is the parking lot on the weekends. There are so many restaurants tucked into a corner that it is sometimes hard to find a parking spot. Other than that, great customer service, wonderful finds, and an adventure waiting for you while you walk around the store because you'll never know what you may find! read more

My all time FAVORITE product from this store... Macadamia nut Pancake Mix. Signed up for membership and received coupons. Too bad you can't use the coupon towards their wines but I was able to stock up up my pancake mix, coffee beans and sea salt chocolate bars. Wines were on sale so bought 8 bottles of reds and whites. I love coming to a place where everything is different and you can see many different cultures and what they used as pieces of art work, food, and many different things. I came here since I moved to the area and I wanted to buy some furniture. So I got this three seat sectional that was very cute and small and fit well with my room. The people here are very friendly just go and ask them a question if you need anything. That is what I liked about this place. The only thing that took a little while was waiting in line. I do love my sofa now!! I also bought some chair pads for my chairs, which was about $16.95 a piece...multiply that by 8 and I spent a lot of money on this place. What I do love is that I'm satisfied and very happy about my purchases. :) Oh yea and by the way if you sign up for their email address you can get 10% off your entire purchases...that is what I did to purchases all the items. My bf and I ordered a couch online, the order didn't process correctly and we had to ultimately cancel the order and put the couch on hold at the store. Marcie was working when we came to pick up the couch. She helped us get the same price we would've online and was overall super cheery and patient with us. Oh, come on! Who doesn't love Cost Plus World Market? Whenever hubby and I move into a new area, I always have to find some of my go-to places. Yes, World Market is a chain that could be considered block and mortar, but it's still a shop that is fairly consistent with what they have. Plus, there's always a joy in finding something that you weren't expecting :P Anyways, it's a good size World Market. It has all the wines/beers in the back, the BBQ or seasonal items in the front, furniture in the front, accent furniture towards the center and back, right area, and snacks towards the center back. Staff is cool. Shop is neat and organized. Haven't had issues with other shoppers, so I think I'm pretty set over here :) As it's a shopping center parking, the parking isn't too bad. I would say that the discounts can be pretty good. Got some Himalayan pink salt blocks for 40% off, plus I had an extra 15% off for being a World Market Explorer (it's a reward program they have that is free), so definitely a good deal! I don't know what kind of store you would call this; they have everything from food, desserts, beers, wines, furniture, holiday stuff, cards, kid's toys, knick knacks, and the list can go on. I came here to build a basket for a friend's 21st birthday and this was THE perfect place to come. They had all sorts of miniature wines and mixed drinks and alcohol infused chocolates. I really love this store because you can find things here that you would never find at any conventional store. I feel like a lot of their stuff is more 'hand crafted' and has a sense of handmade style to it. And it truly is a 'world' market because they have all sorts of foods and desserts that you can't find at just Albertsons. They have candies from Japan, beers from Germany, and soup mixtures and sauces from China. If you're interested in mixing things up and appreciate different flavors and enjoy cooking new things, I think this place would be perfect for you. I always stop by for some delicious overseas snacks, such as bueno chocolate bars, tim tams and french candies. They have alot of basic kitchen needs and quirky gift/party stuff you can't normally find. Their coffee brand is actually pretty decent and they have a good variety I teas. A tea snob so there's no way I'm buying packaged teas but some are decent. They have a taste section in the way back (sometimes in the front) of 1 coffee and 1 tea. Be careful with buying their soaps and lotions. I think I saw made in china soap here and I would never buy that stuff. The workers are nice although I noticed the quick turnaround. Many young checkers are slow and inexperienced. Parking is great but that's bc of a store that shut down...it was some sort of furniture store?? He helped me find the perfect Unicorn Stocking for my niece... he also showed me the beautiful butterfly artwork, which was perfect for my Mother in Law. But I had to make sure my husband agreed. So we had to come back in the evening. Imagine my surprise when the cashier from the evening (Tuesday at 8:49pm) over charged me for over $43 dollars of items I did not get. I did go back & speak with the Manager, Megan, on Thursday evening, she said she had to investigate and would contact me Friday. I'm very saddened to say that I have still not heard from anyone at the Brea Cost Plus. WOW!! This store offers a pretty awesome selection of goods from around the world. I was able to pick up a few of my favorite food items from England, Germany, and Japan! Where else can you go for your one shop stop for Cadbury digestives, Hob Nobs, Hello Panda, and Haribo gummies??! I had no shopping list in mind, but I easily spent $40 on random knickknacks because there's just so many uncommon items that they carry. And at very reasonable prices too! Wow! What great service I received with the purchase on my dining table. Not only is it beautiful the price was a steal! This story could have a sad ending. My husband's dog decided he liked the table just as much as I did and claimed it as his. The leg was damaged and I hated looking at it everyday. I started resenting his dog over it, my dog on the other hand is perfect. I could no longer tolerate the sight of the table. I was concern that it was such a newish, beautiful table that I would have to replace because of one damage spot. I went in to purchase other items and I noticed my table was still being sold there. I took a chance and asked an associate and they all told me you need to talk to Ruby. I finally was able to connect with her over the phone and I asked if there was any way that I could order a replacement leg. In a matter of ten minutes Ruby not only discovered that a replacement leg can be ordered but she place the order for me. I sent pictures of the damaged leg to her email and the replacement soon arrived and is now on my table. Thank you Ruby for saving my husband's dog from being homeless. GMIT is shopping for college stuff (yes, my baby is about to leave me, sniff). Since she's a big fan of the Cost Plus in Whittier, I brought her here when we were in the Brea area. Mr. P and I checked out the furniture section, while GMIT happily went looking for dorm decor. While she was looking at stuff on a shelf, an employee approached her and told her she couldn't stand there. GMIT was appalled. So was I. After that, GMIT didn't feel comfortable shopping there. I used to walk here all the time. Cost Plus has so many little trinkets and doodads that I just love. Most are from other countries, hence the "World Market" part of the store name, and are extremely neat to play with and take home. They're a little pricey, but well worth it for extraordinary goods that you won't find anywhere else. I've purchased beautiful artwork, a pull out bed/couch, pretty Chinese fans and lanterns, toys, yummy candy from all over the world, baskets and raffia for gifts, handmade soaps and candles, plates, a glass candle lantern...the list goes on. They have a broad selection of wines and chocolates form all around the world. Cost Plus also has coffee and some foods from different places as well. My favorite part is always buying Christmas ornaments here. They have such cute, different pieces that really make great gifts and look nice on the tree. The ornaments have gone up in price by a dollar or two, but I still love looking at them and picking out a few special ones for the tree:) read more
