Old school dinner with old school feels. I came in with my work clothes on and within the first sip of coffee I was already approached with a warm smile. Food was great. Even tho my order was wrong, I still enjoyed every bite. They stay busy. Definitely a local spot. The gravy was flavorful, the sausage dry. The eggs cooked to perfection. Will be back

I've driven past his paste 100 times and decided we'd stop here and give it a try. It was good. The staff was really nice. The place has acute history. It's kind of in an odd position next to the freeway. I had the French toast and it was good my partner had the omelette which they also enjoyed. Pretty basic on the inside but it's clean and service was quick.

It's a cozy diner stuck in the 80's but has wonderful food. Best breakfast sausage ever! Service wise.... depends on waitress as I noticed. I can't wait to go back and try something different but add more sausage. I can't believe it took so many years living locally to try this lil gem.

Lovely little breakfast spot Warm and cozy and inviting. Great kind staff Food was excellent: large portion! The pork steak is big! Plenty to indulge yourself or share with someone. $2 if you split an entree. Country fried chicken steak was fantastic with lots of creamy white gravy Toast on the side nicely buttered with jam on the table for you to pick from: strawberry, grape, orange flavors

Came here to grab breakfast with my buddy before flying and got fueled up on a solid and inexpensive breakfast. Being in our 30's, we were probably the youngest ones in there as it's a solid elderly clientele. Service was quick, kind, and delightful from one of the female employees (didn't catch her name). Wren's cafe is one of the old staples in the area that brings the ambiance and nostalgia of the Nut Tree era and is decorated tastefully inside as such. This is my go to spot from now on whenever I'm flying in the area and fueling up myself and the plane.

Wren's Cafe, in Vacaville CA, has been around since 1986 serving up breakfast, hamburgers, salads, soups, and sandwiches. Typical ole classic American diner food. It is small business; opened by the same family since 1986. Coming close to its 40 year anniversary. I have been dropping in to dine here since the early 1990s. But time has not been kind to my old friend, Wren's Cafe. The place has not physically changed; same interior. Looking tired and worn as time usually will do that. The staff is polite and cautiously friendly. The food is not fancy schmazy, just classic, diner fare. My go to here is the breakfast. Simple and comforting. The place is rinky dinky small. The seating is mainly all booth with a few counter swivel stools. The restroom door opens directly into the dining room making the place seem even smaller, so try to avoid the seating in the back right corner near the restroom door.

Came in on Father's day, first time for me, but not for my parents. Adored our server! Lots of regulars and made the atmosphere very friendly. I ordered the french toast combo (my usual any breakfast place order besides eggs benedict) and loved it! I was pretty under the weather at the time, but this brought my spirits up.

I have driven down Interstate 80 thousands of times and passed by Wren's Cafe. I always wondered what it was but I never stopped in. Well, today I met my former student teacher there for breakfast. It is a very cute little diner. There are spots at the bar and a dozen or so tables. We sat down in a booth and were brought menus right away. It was my first time so I looked over the menu for a bit before deciding on the basic eggs and bacon plate with potatoes and sourdough. We spent some time catching up and our food came out pretty quickly. I noticed that my eggs looked pretty plain so I sprinkled on some salt and pepper - which I don't often do! The bacon was cooked to how I like it and the potatoes were crispy! We ended up chatting for almost 2 hours and not once were we given the stink eye about taking up a table. And they were constantly getting people coming in. We appreciated that a lot!! All in all, I would say the food is your basic diner fare. My friend said his family comes fairly often. His daughter loves the pancakes. And he usually likes to judge a place based on their Eggs Benedict, but Wren's Cafe does not serve them. It was a lively place for us to have breakfast and catch up on life.

Have lived in the area and driven by this place for over 30 years.. What a mistake. Stopped to have breakfast with my son. Best Ive had in a year... had the man size steak and eggs cooked to perfection, seasoned well and delicious, my son had an omelette and a half order of biscuits and gravy both very good selections. Portions are abundant. If you haven't stopped by this place it is awesome, small but mighty.

Wren's has some of the best biscuits n gravy I've ever had but pretty small portions of everything. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is a cozy little worn in diner. Smells good and welcoming when you enter. $27 for 1 small meal with a soda, Little pricey for not much

This is my go-to simple spot for comfort breakfast. The ambiance is always super busy, but that just shows how good it is! The service is sweet and genuine, making you feel right at home. Perfect place for a satisfying brunch.

Luckily the weather was perfect the day we went, so we grabbed a table outside and it ended up being the ideal way to enjoy the meal. We started with a Cuban café with condensed milk, and it was incredible. The coffee was bold and rich like a good Cuban espresso should be, and the condensed milk added the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. It was smooth, strong, and honestly one of the best cups of coffee I've had in a while. For food, she ordered the chilaquiles and I ordered the ropa vieja plate, and we also added an order of papa rellenas to share. The chilaquiles were easily the star of the show. The chips were perfectly coated in sauce without being soggy, and the sauce itself had a really unique flavor compared to the traditional chilaquiles I'm used to. It had a deeper, richer taste with just the right balance of spice and tang. Every bite was packed with flavor and it felt like a really thoughtful twist on the dish. The ropa vieja was just as impressive. The shredded beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, clearly slow-cooked because it just fell apart with each bite. The seasoning was spot on -- savory, slightly tomatoey, and really comforting. It came with black beans and rice, and even though I'm usually not a big fan of black beans, these were excellent. They had a lot of flavor and a great texture, not watery or bland like they sometimes can be. The only thing that didn't quite land for me was the papa rellenas. They were well made, but I was expecting something with more of an empanada-like texture or a crispier outer bite. Instead, it was much more potato-forward, which made it a little heavier than I was hoping for. Service was amazing! Kind friendly staff Overall though, the food was flavorful, the coffee was amazing, and the relaxed outdoor seating made it a really enjoyable meal. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in the area.

Back Door Bistro, Vacaville: 2026 Jul 10 (4.29 of 5)…read more Ladies Gathering!! The service here is a 4.5 of 5. We had different servers who attended to us and they're both friendly and looked cheerful. We got there towards the end of Happy Hour and was presented with their Happy Hour menu. The menu is small, easy to read and has almost everything we'd want for that time of day - including the drinks. The food is a 'hit' or 'miss'. Here's my review: Drinks: Both the Arnold Palmer and the Cadillac Margarita were good. My lemonade tea wasn't overly sweet and I could definitely taste the lemonade. The pitcher of Cadillac Margarita looks innocent but may give someone a slow and powerful buzz if you're not used to the drink. (4.75 of 5) Charcuterie: This a complete appetizer board. Overall, there were some hits and misses, however, we agreed this is a well thought out appetizer board. (4 of 5) Crispy Brussels Sprouts: This is the best dish here, featuring deeply caramelized, dark golden-brown edges and a nutty, earthy flavor. Their Crispy Brussels Sprouts is also the best we've had. The seasoning is on-point, allowing the texture to show off its crackling, crunchy bite on the outside, contrasted by a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior. (5 of 5) Seasonal Tacos: "Oh WOW!" The explosion of spicy and tangy flavours balanced by contrasting textures makes this dish "pop". (4.75 of 5) Beet Salad: The colours were lovely, but this beet salad was over-salted. The vibrant dish featuring beets as the main ingredient, balances the earthy sweetness with contrasting textures and flavours. If this wasn't too salty, it would have been more refreshing. (3.75 of 5) Coconut Lime Bouillabaisse (halibut, jasmine rice, spinach, snap pea, pickled shiitake mushroom, coconut lime broth, basil oil): Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Bouillabaisse means seafood. The only seafood we noticed were chunks of halibut, which were delicious. This dish looks and tastes more like an elevated Thai soup dish that cost too much. (3.5 of 5) After walking in, we decided to sit outdoors because of the loud music that was playing. We're glad we did. The overhang on the veranda was well positioned with plants and flowers softening the cement walkway. The weather was pleasant - with a gentle breeze blowing down the corridor. Parking is easy if you arrive early enough. One last note: Back Door Bistro in Vacaville was featured on "Check, Please! Bay Area"

Shoutout to Jorge, who provided great service and was super nice and helpful. He gave us a ton of recommendations and helped me decide what to order, which I really appreciated. For drinks, I had a Modelo draft and the Pink Cadillac Margarita. The margarita was SO sweet and yummy! My girlfriend ordered the enchiladas, where she got to choose between two different sauces and meats. She went with red sauce carnitas and green sauce chicken. She really enjoyed the carnitas with the red sauce and said she would definitely order it again. Jorge recommended the birria tacos, so I decided to give those a try. They came with 3 tacos topped with cheese, onions, and cilantro, along with consomé. The tacos were definitely on the greasy side, and I personally prefer my birria tacos a little more on the crispy/hard side. The consomé needed a little more salt, and for some reason I was getting a slight Worcestershire sauce taste from it . The tacos themselves were about a 7/10 for me. I did get a nice chunk of meat in one bite with some good flavor, but the meat was a little on the dry side. Overall, good service, solid happy
