Decent local spot for breakfast. Clean and inviting place. Was greeted and seated by Jaden (spelling?) immediately upon entry. Food was better than Denny's and other chain breakfast spots. I had the pork chops and eggs. Was not seasoned at all but was a decent fix. I know it's been there a while and locals support the place. I'd come again to try something else. I was just not impressed with the menu selections. I think a few things are missing. Perhaps a nice omelette selection? Maybe a ground beef scramble? My next time trying I'll be sure to pinpoint what it is. But something is simply missing from their offerings. read more

It's a small little place right off I-80, but they have a good amount of booth seating and a few counter seats. The food comes out great and fast, so, there is usually not a long wait for a table. Great old school dining. Like the previous reviewer said it's a greasy spoon in a good way I had bacon, sausage and eggs and a bottomless cup of coffee. The food came out in a reasonable time, and was hot and fresh. The service was friendly and with a smile and now I have a great go to when I'm on the road on Highway 80. Easy Freeway access both on and off. If you are towing a trailer, the parking lot is small and probably will have to park out on the street. read more

I have eaten here a few times and it is good for breakfast. I have only eaten breakfast here but my companions have also eaten lunch dishes and they looked delicious. I recommend this place. It gets busy on the weekends so plan accordingly. I always eat eggs, with bacon or omelettes. Very good and if an error-over hard vs over easy-the problem is taken care of immediately. My friend took me to this old skool breakfast diner called - "Wren's Cafe" this morning, as he is a big fan of old skool "mom & pops" locally owned diners. Wren's Cafe is located in Vacaville, and if I can recall accurately, we had exited off of a freeway, and made a sharp right turn off by a motel, and just adjacent to the motel is where we found "Wren's Cafe". Upon walking into the diner, we were greeted right away, & the waitress led us down to a old skool blue colored vinyl booth. When I talk about "old skool vinyl booths", I'm talkin' about booths you would see from the old diners from the 1950's, 60's, or even possibly the 70's. Gotta love the old retro diners...... After menus were dropped off, our waitress took our drink orders, then shortly after took our food order. My friend ended up getting a 3 egg omelet with 3 items of his choice, country potatoes, & as side, he got an English muffin. For my breakfast, I also chose a 3 egg omelet with mushrooms, onions, & bell peppers. For my side, I got some buttermilk pancakes, and to wash it all down, I got a hot coffee. What can I say about the grub? Loved my breakfast! Absolutely nothing fancy about it, but just a large, "Man Size" hearty American breakfast! My omelet was HUGE, and my side of pancakes was generous with two cakes that were all so soft, & fluffy! What more can you ask for? Service - Our waitress was friendly, & efficient......definitely no complaints here! Parking - In front of the diner, there was a small parking lot.......no issues trying to find parking here. Last of all, while we walked into this diner to eat, my friend noticed a group of folks sitting by the entrance of the establishment & guess what? Them folks was from da 808 too! I remember eating those the last time and enjoyed it so I expected it too much to be disappointed with the wrong look. It should be round flat and crisp but this wasnt what I expected.. I definitely got a refund from doordash when I complained about it and size of their egg does not look like 2-3 eggs, looks 1 only to a point I almost missed it.. Quite deceiving and how they present frnch toast combo like they just threw it in the styro and serve with cut on the side.. My biscuit wasnt even there and sauces and gravy? what happened? I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while. It's very small and has a retro vibe to it. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with 2 poached eggs, it comes with 2 sausage patties. The gravy tasted like it came out of a box, no flavor whatsoever. The biscuit was good. Eggs, good, I didn't care for the sausage. Usually gravy has bits of sausage and or some extra flavor to it, this had none. Husband had the pork chops and eggs, meh. The country potatoes looked like the ones that come in a bag at Safeway. You drive past a place for decades, right off a freeway exit in Vacaville, and wonder what the place is like since it has such longevity. Well, today was the day we took that freeway exit for breakfast. The parking lot was almost full but we found a spot in the shade. Inside was your basic old-school diner. Bench and counter seating. We were seated immediately and coffee came soon after. There were enough choices for breakfast for each of us to find something to our liking. I had an omelette. It might have been a bit under-cooked but was tasty and as I like soft-boiled eggs, I didn't care that it was a bit runny. Husband had the French toast and liked the touch of cinnamon he tasted. Service was very good. Our coffee mugs were refilled frequently. This place seems to be very popular. There was a constant stream of customers. It was very noisy, making it a bit difficult for conversation. Since I couldn't hear what others were saying at my table I just watched the flow of traffic on I-80 out the window, at least until I got dizzy and had to move to the other side of the table. I didn't have high expectations for this little diner right next to the highway, but was pleasantly surprised. Our server was very pleasant and patient while our granddaughter provided her very explicit requirements for a tuna salad. This was our second time to this cute little old world restaurant for breakfast. We went back because last time the sliced potatoes were crisp and deep-fried and absolutely delicious. This time they were the poor out of the bag kind a little squared nice things that were kind of soggy. My poached eggs were fine but that's kind of hard to ruin, and the chicken sausage was OK. Yeah, I think I can buy the same at Costco. Today even my muffin was overcooked. The service was great and the people are very friendly. When I go back? Probably not! It wasn't bad it just wasn't good and it certainly wasn't great. It was one of the first places I have been in a while where no one, eating, waiting or waiting outside in line wore a mask. Me and a friend meet every week at a different location for breakfast or lunch and decided to give Wrens a try. We walked in nobody greeted us and nothing posted if we seat ourself or wait to be seated. I asked a waitress she pointed and said, you can sit over there pointing to a corner. Me and my friend thought it was uncomfortable and felt like our business wasn't important. We made the decision to leave and try a different location.
