My family was there for Easter dinner. Disappointed with the $85/per person buffet. The roasted pig was too salty. It was covered with rock salt. The crab was dry dry dry and tasteless. Shrimp sat out for hours and well I was hesitant to eat the shrimp. The rest of food was very disappointing. The brownies was dry so was the churros. Probably left out for hours. The brunch buffet was okay although pricey. The room was nice and clean. Big, roomy and great views. Staff was nice. As for the food- the prime rib was awesome but the rest was just okay. The eggs Benedict on Kalua pig would have been better if it had more flavor and kept warmer. The sushi was a little hard from sitting although there was a nice variety. The big disappointment was the snow crab. It looked old like it had been in the freezer too long. These crab legs were small and disappointing. Pros: Servers were attentive. Food tasted good (but not great). It was quiet and clean. Cons: Price was high for what was served. I had the pork chop. It was $30. It came with a "smear" of sweet potato beneath the pork chop, 2 sprigs of green onion crossed over the pork chop, and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. It did not come with a salad or other vegetable. The pork chop itself was over cooked and after removing the bone and the thick fat layer around the outside, there was little meat. Perhaps including a soup and salad (even a small soup and salad) would make it feel worth the $30 price. read more

Be aware the restaurant does not have any parking and when we arrived the hotel was not offering valet. You will have to park on the street. We started off good with a helpful and friendly waitress. We got our appetizers which were ok. Fries were cold, crab cakes and hummus were tasty. Bone marrow was good too. After that everything went downhill. It took over an hour to get our entrees. During that time our waitress disappeared and didn't provide any drink service. We had no idea what was going on so we found the manager who was apologetic and didn't charge us for the appetizers. They gentleman that brought the food gave the best service of anyone we encountered. We were celebrating my sister in laws birthday. She loved her steak and mashed potatoes. I loved my lobster tail and baked potato. My husband enjoyed the seafood dish, however they didn't have a fresh catch. I would not eat here again or recommend them. Sorry! read more

One of the worst meals I have ever had. We spent over $200 for a terribly under cooked steak, incredibly fatty and tough piece of prime rib, and crab clusters that were so overcooked the meat was literally dried up on the inside. Came here last week with a party of 9. Ordered the fish and steak. 3 people ordered the misoyaki butterfish and all 3 were undercooked. Prime rib was bland. In Vegas, you can get a prime rib for a fraction of the price that is infinitely superior. Our server that night was clearly sick, coughing and sniffling while serving our food, and 5 people in our party got CoVid in the days after. Upon telling the manager this so that her staff could get tested, she said, "No one here is sick," but refused to say when the last time any of them got tested was or what their testing policy is. read more

"A Big Catch". As first timers, we enjoyed a spare of a moment date night. Greeted by the host with aloha, to taking us to a table by the window, was a perfect. The room filled with nice decor of whiskey and wines. Our waiter Rick gave us the run down of the fresh catch for the evening, and let me tell you everything he explained to us what was on the snapper plate. Needless to say it was perfectly cooked, and was so Ono that towards the end I gave up my fork, and the Hawaiian in me came out. I had to with my fingers. LOL. This was a really nice dining experience, star with the great view of Hilo Bay. Very nice ambience in the restaurant, and friendly and attentive service, especially from our server Rick. The misoyaki butterfish had great texture and was seasoned just right (not too strong). The catch of the day, a whole ehu prepared Chinese style with a variety of vegetables and mushrooms was spectacular to look at and very tasty. Overall very highly recommended. read more

It's a beautiful atmosphere overlooking Coconut Island. That's why it's a shame the service is pretty bad, especially for a supposedly 3 star restaurant. We were seated soon enough but after that service sucked. Waited 45 minutes for our food, after which it was cold. Kind of expensive for what you get. The servers were quite nice but very very slow. If you value your time, I would not go there. Waited to get our check. Waited to get our credit card back, no one came so had to go up to pay. Very unprofessional service sad to say. We won't be returning for a long time. Someone else behind us left because they were waiting too long. Something is wrong with their system. Go somewhere else. read more

If we were to rate this restaurant for service alone, our rating would be a five star. We were seated quickly and the service was great (our server was Maria). However, we lowered the rating because of the menu. For a restaurant that calls itself whiskey, steak, wine - the whiskey listing was lacking (compared to Pint + Jigger in Oahu, which had a binder of whiskeys to pick from. Thus, unsure if WSW can label themselves as a whiskey wine restaurant as their whiskey listing was less than half a page). I wished there were some pasta dishes or options, but the food was overall fine. The kids loved the truffle fries and we enjoyed the escargot. The kids rated the burger as tasting like a 'McDonalds' burger. It had been awhile since we have been to WSW due to the service we had received at our last visit. This evening to my surprise we had exceptional service. Our server Rick knew his stuff and boy did he do you proud. He had every answer to our questions, he was able to answer our many questions in regards to the meal and drinks. I was so disappointed with my dining experience. I love steak & was looking forward to finally dining out. The server was prompt in taking our food order but we waited at least 30 mins for our appetizers & another 40 mins for our meals. Talk about S L O W service! When I took a bite my Lamb Shank was "room temperature"! I think all of our dishes were sitting around! I also ordered the Creme Brulee & was disappointed that there was only about an 1/8 of an inch of custard in the dish! I'm hoping the Restaurant Manager reads this & improves their service. Don't know if the wait staff let our food sit there (the restaurant didn't seem that packed) or the kitchen was short staffed. My plate cost $32 ... I took a few bites & asked for a "doggy bag". Aloha! Last night, we dined in at your restaurant for a bachelorette party. The bride to be speaks highly of WSW so we reserved a table there. Upon being seated and receiving our drinks, a few of us told our waiter thank you and he did not respond. Our food took an hour to come. My coworker got a medium well prime rib which came out rare and I ordered a medium well WSW burger and it was WELL WELL DONE. It was very dry and tasted like charcoal. But due to our time line and being that the food took an hour, we weren't going to complain and have to wait again. Getting ready to leave and our waiter hands the only male at the table, our check. We ask if we can split it and our waiter puts his hand on his head and says "I wish you guys would've told me this earlier". Erik did not ask if we would like to split it. He just assumed that the guy at our table was going to pay a $700 something check. That was very rude and disrespectful. We did not expect to get treated so poorly by such a classy and high end restaurant. We were in shock and disbelief and yet, Erik did not split the check and he sure did not deserve the 20% gratuity that was automatically added. We're all a bunch of locals just trying enjoy a night out and Erik really ended it on a sour note. I don't appreciate Erik treating my family like that and will not be returning there again. read more
