2.5 stars. The food in general is OK, but the fried rice is rather plain. I had the pork with vegetables, and it was OK. The ambiance is that of a fast food restaurant, though. You order and pre-pay at the counter, then go find your table and wait for them to announce when you can pick up your food back at the counter. I made the mistake of leaving a tip when I made my order. They don't do any personal service to warrant a tip. The food is served in plastic, covered containers, even if you tell them you are dining in, and the utensils are plastic, so this isn't the place to go out to dinner on a date or if you want to be served by a waiter/waitress. I don't like my hot food in plastic containers because I imagine the plastic is melting into the food. I was expecting real dishes, real utensils, and a waiter or waitress. This is the Chinese equivalent of Taco Bell, and as long as you go in with that understanding, then I suppose you'll be satisfied. For a few dollars more you can get much nicer dining. I will most probably never come back to this restaurant because it is quite unremarkable, even less so. read more

I have tried many of their dishes such as the hot and sour soup which is amazing to their kung Pao chicken which my husband and I love sharing. I just can't seem to find good Chinese food here in San Antonio. If you want a good bang for your buck, they serve giant portions, but lack so much flavor. I ordered several things today for my entire family and the only thing I would recommend is the spare boneless ribs and the pork fried rice. Even then, those were not that great. Everything that was fried tasted like they haven't changed their oil in years (I'm hoping I'm wrong but that's what it tasted like). I ordered crispy spicy chicken and it was soggy. I specifically asked for the sauce on the side so that the chicken was still crispy when I got home, but it was slathered on and not very tasty. I'll pass on this one and my hunt for great Chinese continues. read more

We eat here frequently and it's my favorite Chinese restaurant after trying many other. The mai fun is delicious! We once ordered a large family order to go and they were very thorough at making sure our order was right and fresh. I also really enjoy the General Tso's Chicken. read more

This is the ONLY place I go for Chinese take out. Staff has never messed up an order, everything is always fresh, and nice interior for eating if you don't want to takeout. Parking sucks on busy bar nights due to its strip mall location, and I wish they would go halves with the liquor store next door and pay for a parking attendant - I'm disabled and when handicapped is taken on a busy night, I have to go into the liquor store and buy an overpriced bottle of water just to have a convenient place to park to get my food. Only major bad thing? Wu's doesn't deliver. :( read more

Update to my previous review. I had a long day and wanted nothing more than some fried bean curd with garlic sauce from here. I arrived 30 minutes before closing. The dining room was at least 85 degrees and sweltering. When I gave the waitress my order she said it would take 20 minutes to cook so I'd only have 10 minutes to eat it, so I took it to go. I've been to several restaurants near closing and I've never been treated this way. I've been allowed to stay and finish my meal. How very disappointing. I liked this place after finding it when I needed somewhere closer to home for fried bean curd. Basic customer service goes a long way. Doubt I'll be back. read more

This place is Solid. I'm stuck on the same few things, but it's what I hold on to. I don't venture much off the menu of stuff family and I all appreciate so my review to some may be limited by menu selection. 1) True authentic (NY style) chinese food starts with a fried wonton appetizer that isn't filled with cheese. 2) Again what is also authentic to me. is a dive like atmosphere with a few tables for dine in, and fast take out service. 3) Solid chinese food staples like the Wonton Soup and fried rice. 4) Egg foo young is the bomb, just wish they provided a bit more gravy. Parking is terrible here, but on the bright side its a good local thriving shopping center with a few restaurants and a lively draft bar, so expect to circle the parking lot and walk a bit on a weekend. They have ventured into a second location on FM 78, but upon my visit last week nothing has gone downhill and I believe the original owner and cook is still here. read more

Best American style Chinese food around. Reasonably priced, great menu and real NY style egg rolls, although a bit smaller. We had boneless ribs, egg rolls, steamed dumplings, moo shu pork, and a happy family. All were good. The first time I ate at Wu's was on my lunch break since I worked nearby. After my first meal I knew I'd be back for more. Everything is always hot and fresh and you know your food hasn't just been sitting there or reheated. The fried dumplings are amazing and they're sauce is equally as good. I usually switch between the sesame,orange or general tsu chicken. And I'm not a big fan of their fried rice, but only bc I hate onions. The egg rolls are by far my favorite. In my 21 years of life I have always passed on egg rolls bc each time I ate one I remember why I never liked egg rolls but when I got a dinner special at Wu's and it came with an egg roll I decided to give it a try and boy was it good. Wu's never disappoints and I am excited that they opened one in converse near my new job. I'll always recommend Wu's to anyone hungry for some good Chinese food! read more

I really, really wanted to like this place since it's so close to home and open on Sundays. I struggled to give it 2 stars and that was just because the hot and sour soup grew on me and hubby liked the egg drop soup. First of all, when I go out to eat with others I expect to eat with them. My plate came out a good 10 minutes before my husband's and my egg roll came out after his food. It wasn't just us that was served like that, the table next to us (who was already there when we got there) was served the same way and one person in their party received their food after we did. I could have lived with the service if the food was good. I absolutely love Chinese food and this food was horrible! I've never had Chinese rice with huge chunks of white onion....that was just weird and gross. Egg roll, not good. Hubby ordered Four Seasons...he's a big eater and never leaves without making a "happy plate" and he left more than half behind. I ordered Szechuan Chicken, not good. I would eat at Panda Express before returning here...and i don't like Panda Express. I can't imagine we just happened to ordered the wrong items (very simple plates) or we just caught them on an "off" day but others seem to like it by their reviews. Everybody has their own tastes and opinions and unfortunately, neither my husband or I liked it. I definitely don't allow one negative review to detour me from a restaurant, but take all reviews into consideration and appreciate each person to take time to review as it does help in decision making when it comes to trying someplace new. read more

This has become my favorite Chinese food in the area. Been here at least a dozen times and so far no bad experiences. Their hot and sour soup is by far the best in the area. The hot and sour soup is actually made to order and tastes awesome. They make pretty much everything fresh so that is definitely a plus. Great fried rice with generous amount of veggies and meat. The rangoons are crispy and fluffy and won't you sick after over indulging. Fresh food, good service!!! definitely coming back!!! I yelped for restaurants near by when i was in the area and this placed popped up. It's only been open for three months. The prices are lower than in any other Chinese restaurant. Moreover, they have different meals than any other Chinese restaurants, on top of the regular ones you can get anywhere. I loved how fresh and tasty the food was. I've been having troubles with not being able to taste food lately but the meals we got from this restaurant were very fresh and full of flavor. On top of that, the waitress was very bubbly and knowledgeable about the menu and meals and what they have in them. The place has only 6 tables and big kitchen you can see from the table so you actually see the cook make your meal. I'm very happy with this place and will go out of my way to come here again. read more

The food was good and the service was fast. But there's a Hispanic woman who waitresses here that loves to complain about just about everything under the sun... Even in front of guests who are in the restaurant. (Specific example: server openly complained about a sub par tip she received while walking by me while waiting on a to-go order) And to top it off she had to voice her opinion regarding customers that came in with about 30 minutes before the place closes and decides to make smug comments about how disrespectful they are. All in all, I will come back for their food (because it was actually delicious and filling) but if I have to see this server again in this establishment, she will fully understand why she receives sub-par tips. read more

Just tried today at noon. Had pork lomein and hot sour soup. I now have food poisoning. Only thing I'd eaten since 6p yesterday. I'm certain it was the soup as it had an odd taste, sour in a spoiled way. The lomein only had a few microscopic slivers of pork so small could barely taste. The young man at counter was friendly and very clean. How can a 6.50 lunch special, small soup and drink cost $13???? Add on the cost of food poisoning and it was an expensive very bad meal!! Came way out here because of Yelpers saying this was a good place. First of all, parking situation wasn't as perilous as others have said. Had no isses parking on Sunday at 1:30. It was off to a promising start walking in to the loud Chinese voices and the immigrant vibe. Adolescent girls taking my order completed the feel. The food was definitely not worth driving across town but if I lived in one of the box houses in the area this would be an ok place. The crispies for the wonton soup were stale. The sauce in my pepper steak was too gelatinous and unappetizing, sort of like snot and I did not finish my meal. The meat tasted gamey and not seasoned. Egg roll and egg drop soup were average. My spouse was pleased with his chicken plate but not so much the rice. I think i would order just pork fried rice from this place as that is generally what I look to most at any Chinese place. This is a staple for my family when we're craving Chinese. Although that don't offer kid's portions, my kids are pretty good at finishing most of their meals. My kids love the orange chicken and sesame chicken. My favorite meal is the General Tso's chicken. The service is relatively quick and we've never left unsatisfied.
