One of the more reliable Japanese restaurants in this neck of the woods. They don't skimp on portion size either. Their Chilean sea bass with orange miso sauce is delicious and comes with a unique black coconut rice (albeit it's a little too sweet for me). Bento boxes come with fried shumai, a roll, and some tempura that are really good. I'd say stick with the Japanese stuff and avoid their "Asian Fusion" items like the sesame chicken. read more

Well, we finally went out to eat again and went here to Xaga. Xaga is a step above. I consider it a premier operation in that the place is nice and there is plenty of staff/chefs to take care of you and get your food quickly. I order a single meal for $17.38 and tipped $2.00 for a very short delivery to my house in proximity to the location of the restaurant. The food is good but the service is terrible! Today the delivery guy called me up on my phone when he arrived and said: "next time tip more". It's our "go to" sushi spot on Long Island. prices are average for Long Island, but the quality is worth every penny. The service is quick, but polite and you are never made to feel rushed. The sushi and sashimi is always fresh with generous portions. The rolls, while inspired, could be a little more interesting with a greater variety of fish and more crunch. The spicy rolls are actually spicy. Kitchen dishes are also tasty - especially the teriyaki combo and the chicken in a garlic sauce. Prices are a bit high in comparison to other Long Island Asian restaurants, but then it presents as more upscale, and the cost isn't really that much higher. But the sushi - excellent! As a non-sushi eater, I sick mostly to the teriyaki and the pad Thai dishes, but they are always fresh and tasty. The price here is a deterrent for me, or I would order more frequently. Also, as a semi-regular customer I find it a little disappointing that they never allow any sort of substituting, even though I always have them hold the soup and the salad that comes with my lunch combos and I order enough that they know me by name. So I would like to start out this post saying that I would usually order Xaga about every other week and it would cost me about $100 every time. The past few times I have noticed a decline in quality. So this past Saturday I ordered $130 uber eats delivery. I get a call from the restaurant and they said because I requested brown rice they want to charge me $3 more. I said huh?? Im spending $130 and I am a repeat customer and they never asked me for a up-charge for brown rice. I said if you are going to ask me for $3 more (not including my $5 tip for delivery) and being a repeat customer then cancel the order. The lady on the phone went to speak to the manager and they said we will cancel it on or end with Uber eats. So we hang up now I am annoyed. They never cancelled the order on uber eats and it showed that they were making the food, and then someone picked it up and its on its way. I said to myself they either gave me the brown rice or just white rice. All of a sudden it says it was delivered and there was nothing at my door. Very strange not sure how they did that on there end but I was pissed. So this is the last time I will ever give them my $200 per month business. This is foolish on their part especially when most restaurants are struggling now to survive. Bad customer service!! read more

Came here tonight to have dinner and when we walked in they were closing in about 30 minutes. They told us we have 3 minutes to get our order in. The food was okay, nothing great and not much flavor. When we finished our meals they didn't even ask if we wanted desert and just put the check on the table. As my boyfriend was getting his money out to pay they were hovering over us. We paid the bill and left needless to say it was 1010pm they only had to stay 10 minutes past closing. This place was good the first few times I went there, but it may have been different since it was dinner and I ordered off the menu. Went for lunch today since I was craving sushi and noticed the lunch special prices are much higher than other sushi spots. I figured hey maybe it will be better. They barely have any choices for rolls and you would think they would offer more considering the prices. Anyway I got spicy tuna and salmon, both were warm and not in the least bit spicy.
