this comcast location is GHETTO! the line is super long and the people that go there are seriously rude. my husband was in the car waiting for me and a lady that was parking behind us (who was about to go to comcast) totally bumped into our car when she was trying to park. then when we told her she did, she denied it even though we both felt the car jerk. this turned into a screaming match and we just ended up leaving since there was no damage to the car. comcast sucks period. the customer service is bad, the internet always has to be reset, the cable cuts out every now and then esp. on HD channels, they are very expensive, they have crappy DVRs that may or may not record your scheduled shows, and it takes forever to talk to a live person when you call. go with a diff. provider if you can. read more

I called that number end and transfer/upgrade service and the phone was answered on the second ring by a very polite, helpful, knowledgeable assistant. He ensured that my service was uninterrupted, gave me a better deal than any online comcast.com specials I saw (including not having to pay for my HD service for months!), and kept in contact with me via phone during the day to update his progress in getting the tech there with the appropriate (upgraded) equipment. WTF? I was petrified of dealing with Comcast after reading all these negative reviews! Maybe they're getting the message? After 15 years of waiting for Sonic, Monkey Brains or ATT to provide 21st century broadband speed of greater than 2.5 mbps in the 94132 area, I signed up with Comcast (aka Xfinity) despite of their below average online reviews. The process of selecting the service level (25 mbps special) and setting up the appointment online was fairly painless. After receiving a call about two days before and on the day of the appointment, the technician (Josh) arrived as promised and proceeded to connect and activate the existing Comcast cable. Initially, the signal did not appear to be detected by the Xyzel cable modem (I opted to purchase). After a few calls, the signal was picked up by the modem but not by the router. At this point, I expected Josh to refer me to Netgear. Surprisingly, he pro-actively went on to successfully configure the connection. The entire setup process took about 40 minutes from time of arrival to being connected. I now have sustained speed of 28 mbps down and 5.5 mbps up.....Wow! I'll just have to see how their customer service is compared to Sonic when there is an issue. For now, the service received is above average. read more

Review for their POTRERO FACILITY: - They made a huge change, more CSR to help their customer - You don't need to stand up for hours to wait in line to get help, you now login to their ipad kiosk & put in your name & cell # so they can call your name or text you (if you add it as an option) if it is your turn. Review for the SERVICE: - We we're Comcast customer before but their customer service sucks that's why we left but their service is no doubt one of the best. OVERALL: Kudos to Comcast for making some changes on how they deal with their customers & services! TIP: - Get their $4.99 monthly Service warranty to give you peace of mind for not paying so much in your bill to get a technician fix some $hitz. He gets one star for being REALLY nice while delivering a really screwed up message. In response to my "How do I upgrade?" he says "Oh, are you sure you want to upgrade? Your package - wow - your channel package is really old! Your plan rates go up $10 next month since your plan is so old. Wow. HD is just going to cost you more." I say, "Hey, yeah, funny, you guys seem to raise my rates every few months. What can you do to help me out?" "Oh, well, we have lots of cheaper packages but you would need to disconnect your service for 3 months and then sign up again. " "Um, OK, thanks, I was actually trying to upgrade my service - um wouldn't disconnecting it sort of be the opposite of this?" Normally this conversation sounds like something I would be totally ranting about but he was seriously SO nice and he kept admitting the whole pricing thing was screwed up and that everyone calls and yells at hm. So in the end, he figured out that I could pay $11 more a month and upgrade to the package that had all the channels they offer. I ended up only slightly annoyed about the increase but was excited to have 10 more movie channels that show all the hits form the 90s. And, no, much to the bf's disappointment "ALL" the channels does not include Playboy. 1 Star for the super helpful and friendly lady at that Comcast Service Canter who gave me directions and hours of operation for the Potrero Hill center. OK, admittedly this would have been an easier process if this location was actually accessible via 411, but I'm focusing on the positive here. This chick really was a pleasure to talk to. 1 HUGE Star for the Potrero Service Center for having NO line when I showed up to upgrade my cable box. I was in and out in 5 minutes tops. It was lightening fast and the lady at the counter was very helpful. OK, OK, OK, she did ask me twice if I planned to install the box myself and I practically had to sign a promissory note to assure her that I did have a helpful man at home to actually install the box, but I like to think she was just looking out for me. 1 Star for the very comprehensive directions that come with the new HD box. We had it installed in 10 minutes. Our friends who came over for dinner and to watch "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" were really excited to watch our new HD service and we spent a lot of time oohing an aahing. I was the only one who commented a couple times that the picture didn't look any different, but I was told a couple times that I'm just nuts and not looking hard enough for the differences. The break in the 5 star action occurred when I went out of town and left the boy home alone to watch TV. While I was gone, he decided that we didn't really HAVE HD TV. He announced this (for the first time) to our group of friend's at dinner on Friday night, accusing me of Comcast HD cable fraud! So, the fifth and final star was for the kind and patient lady in the Comcast Customer Service Call Center who answered my call after said dinner on Friday night. At midnight and after about 3 martinis, I gave Comcast a call to confirm that yes, we really did have HD. She very calmly explained to me that we did have such service and sweetly asked me to double check that we had hit the "HD ON" button on the front of our new cable box. -100 Stars for my boyfriend (a super super smart IT Director I should add) who HAD NOT depressed said "HD ON" button and who made me drunk dial the Comcast lady and who doubted my ability to pick up the right cable box.. His review is coming up next! So all in all, Comcast is agreeably totally and completely crazy when it comes to pricing but my recent interactions with them were really good. Had a great experience with Helen at the Comcast office. I went in because I was having problems with WiFi connectivity on a brand new 4K UHD TV I bought. Samsung had been saying it was a service provider issue, Comcast was saying it was Samsung. The person I called at Comcast customer service not only couldn't really help, she managed to talk me into changing my service to add TV, which I didn't want (I only use internet for streaming). SO, I went in to the store to see what I could do. Helen not only helped me by upgrading my modem (which completely solved the issue), but she took away the unnecessary upgrade the woman on the phone had sold me. Boy, was I pissed after I got off the phone with these guys. Several problems: 1) it's a rip-off, 2) It took them forever to take my call, 3) the online interface is byzantine, and 4) they don't actually tell you what you're paying for unless you call. I only purchase internet from Comcast (though I'm looking to leave, now) and I wanted to check my internet service. It's been a while since I originally signed up, and the bill has creeped up every year, so I'm not paying $72/month. That seemed like a lot, and I wanted to see what kind of service I was paying for. You know, in terms of MBPS - pretty much the ONLY way you assess the performance of your internet. First, I checked my bill. I didn't see anything on my bill except "High Speed Internet". Next, I signed into my online account and tried to check to see if there was information online. I logged into the main page, but when I went to check my service options, I was told I was not the primary account holder. I'm the ONLY account holder. After I waited on hold for about 30 minutes, a tech representative told me that I had TWO online accounts. The one I had created to pay my bills, and the other one - that they created at some point and I had no idea existed. The username for that account was my name - or it was supposed to be, but they completely butchered the spelling of my name. There was no way I could have even GUESSED what the username might have been if I knew the account existed. OK, so now I'm able to access the website to check my service options. At this point it should be easy right? I'm scanning the page, and I see nothing about what internet performance I'm paying for. The tech rep is still on the phone so I ask her where I can this information. She puts me on hold for a while, and comes back to tell me I'm paying for 12MBPS. OK - but where is that information? I'm back on hold. She comes back. IT'S NOT AVAILABLE. I have to go to some speed check website to see what my present performance is. But that doesn't tell me what I'm SUPPOSED to get. NOWHERE does it say what I'm paying for. Just "High speed internet". A quick web search reveals that $72/month is a ridiculous for 12MBPS. Sonic charges $40 for 20MBPS. No wonder I can't find it - I'm getting completely ripped off. Goodbye Comcast. Rot in hell, you skeevy company. read more

Just so so frustrating to deal with. The incompetence is absolutely mind boggling. 1. There are ALWAYS higher than normal call volume. Always. My personal average call time is 45+minutes with maybe 5 of that actually speaking to someone. This is based on a sample of approx 10 calls over 2 years at various times of day and day of week. 2. Tech support have never actually solved my tech issue over the phone. Helpful hint, just request a technician come out immediately ( usually several days wait for said technician to be available). 3. Technicians hit their scheduled appointments about 25% of the time. Suffice to say they are never early... Call, complain get measly credit. Psst, Comcast: I don't want a freaking credit I want you to be on time like the rest of the professional world! 4. Hi have had Comcast for 3 year now. Quick Summary of service 1. My bill would increase 40% every 6-12 months, but would have to call to subscribe to a new package and negotiate my price a rate for cable and internet. 2. Multiple billing mistakes and over charging. They would refund it after and hour on the phone of more negotiating 3. They make you guarantees and promises after they fix their mistakes. Ex. Free HBO for 6 months-1 year, then after 3 months you have to spend another hour arguing with them to honor what the sales person promised. 4. Test you internet speed connection @ www.speedtest.comcast.net to make sure you are getting the speed you pay for. Most times you don't get the speed they guarantee, so you should downgrade you package. If you have another option get another service for your Internet and TV. If you must use there internet, do not rent a cable modem from them. Just buy one. $7 a month when u can buy one for $60 on amazon. I pay $39.99 Plus tax for internet(Blast EXTRA package) and basic cable. read more

Sorry, it didn't work and went back to change the equipment again. Did the same process again and it worked, however, after one day, the equipment was broken and called again, followed all the steps and still didn't work. I wanted Comcast Internet Service and nothing more. They came out and told me that they'd have to bring a line from across the street. All of the phone and cable lines in my neighborhood are underground, but that sounded fine with me. I then made the mistake of asking how much the installation would be. The installation was a reasonable amount but it didn't include bringing the line from across the street. I asked for the price of doing that. Their answer: We'll do it and then we'll bill you. So, Comcast may do anything from dragging a cable to bringing out a crew with jackhammers and I'm supposed to pay for it? According to them, yes. And even if I discontinue Comcast, they get to use the line under the street that I paid for. I don't think so! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I set up a service appointment for 8-10am because my cable broke (for the second time). The technician never showed up. I called to find out why, and I got an automated response that said they were coming from 12-2pm, which was NOT what I signed up for in person over the phone and confirmed multiple times. I finally connected with a person. They said they could do nothing. They could not even put in to have the technician come at noon instead of two. They showed no sympathy for the fact that I have lost an entire day of work. They did not even attempt to try to contact the people who set up the technicians' schedules - EVEN THOUGH THE SCHEDULE HAD NOT YET BEEN MADE. They were rude and difficult on the phone. The rep started with a 30-second spiel about how great their customer service is; all the time I'm thinking, "Stop talking about it and just do it." After going over all the information, the rep needed tech support, so she put me on hold. After being on hold for a while, another rep picked up, asking "How may I help you?" - So now we were back to the beginning. I explained that another rep already had all my information and had put me on hold. Could I please be transferred back? She ignored me, sticking to her canned speech ("How may I help you?" etc.). I repeated that another rep already had all my information and had put me on hold, and could I please be transferred back? Her reply: "Are you calling today about cable or internet?" I hung up. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service. They do not LISTEN. They only read from their script and not only are they unable to handle anything outside of it -- they will simply ignore it!!! read more

Good speed. Good intro pricing. Pretty reliable. Absolutely terrible customer service. They try to scam you, and hope that their awful customer service will deter you from fixing the problem. I had to call or chat with customer service 10 times during setup. Every time I call them, they send me through multiple phone menus and redirects, make excuses, tell me to call back later or to a different number, etc. Comcast has twice told me that my entire bill would be some amount, but billed me $10 more instead. The first time, they corrected it, but the second time they told me I'd just have to live with it. This wasn't just a regular price increase. I had discussed with customer service the previous month, and they had said that my bill would be $50, but in fact it was $60. I told the rep that this was illegal, and he conceded that it was, but that for the first month they'd credit me back $10, and that in the future the rate would still be $60. read more

I'm horrified that this type of business is allowed to operate. I moved here after having FIOS for almost a decade. I pay almost twice as much for roughly 20% of the speed. The set top box is identical to Verizon, yet the software they use makes the interface as unwieldy and slow as possible when attempting to browse. My failed attempt to start a new account with Comcast was among the worst customer service experiences of my life. I had read the negative reviews here, but thought I would be fine as I'm technologically competent and rarely need support; I was wrong. I cannot urge you strongly enough to go elsewhere when looking for an ISP. I spent an entire afternoon on the phone, going through the same repetitive cycle of actions, with the same negative result. I kept being told to call different 1-800 numbers to reach technical support, but kept being forced by a dysfunctional automatic phone system to the same people at activation. When I finally insisted they transfer me themselves, I was promised an appointment the next morning to service my house. I stayed home from work for the appointment, but they never showed up, and then insisted no such appointment existed. Since they refused to rush someone out later that day, and I couldn't stay home from work another day, I canceled my service on the spot. As a parting gift, they refused to refund the cost of the activation kit (which is just a collection of cables I never needed in the first place). No 6 month discount is worth the time and energy you will waste on the phone with Comcast. The frustration will linger with me for days. There are far better choices in SF. read more

I have been calling for mine from August '13 to Lt-March '14 and the best they do is to tell it has been processed and I should expect it in 8 weeks. The last time an Installer came to my house, he asked if he could run his tests on my Laptop since his was way down in his truck. I allowed him to...My Bad! After he left, I found that my Explorer and my Google , among other Icons had become Xfinity-based and I could not even access my Proprietary software. That took days to reverse. I can see why Comcast has such poor reviews after my experience with them. I set up service for an elderly man who was a good friend of ours who then unfortunately passed away. When I called Comcast to disconnect the service, they claimed I owed $170 for the equipment. I explained I never agreed to that, and they actually sent me a contract signed by someone else as "proof" that I agreed. Not only was it not my signature, but I didn't even recognize it.
