Stopped in again. Sadly not the same. Tried conversing and lightening up the vibes but instead got a long stare/glare. I tried a bread they had on the counter-the concha, wasn't good at all. I've been on a pistachio/coffee kick lately and this is the best pistachio coffee drink I've had in phx so far! The pistachio syrup is house made and very flavorful. We were recommended Xolo by a friend who loved the owners. We found the same to be true! The owner of the shop made our coffee and matcha. I'm not a coffee gal and he instantly suggested a few options I might like. I enjoyed a strawberry matcha and was delighted! My husband got a coffee recommended by the owner as wel and he loved it. If the drinks we had were any indication of the rest of the menu, I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you get! We also tried a blueberry lemon loaf and it was so moist and yummy (I'm always worried about dry pastries so this stands out!) Owner was very down to earth and friendly. They were both delicious! only regret is not trying it sooner! the service was great you feel comfortable and treated kindly. On Sunday, my young daughters and I hit up this spot while we waited for my older daughter visiting a friend at the PCH. I was very grateful to find a local coffee joint to support close to PCH. I ordered the Banana bread - my daughter really enjoyed this. I did too. It'd be fantastic toasted and buttered. Yum yum Apple juice - classic apple juice out of a glass ball. Can't go wrong. Iced Xocolatl - still have no idea how to say this but it was delicious. It literally has the crushed candy stuff in it which lead to little tidbits of nuts to chew on. I personally loved this. They didn't have whole milk but it wasn't a deal breaker at all. They have 1%, almond and oat. We loved this place. The owners were working and were very kind and patient with my kids. While the place wasn't busy at this particular moment, my girls, 2 yo and 3 months were typical children. I appreciated the couch in the back. Gave us a spot to spread out a bit while we waited for my eldest daughter to be done with her visit. The music was just right. The place was clean. Service was prompt. I went last week for the first time. I asked about the specialty coffees and Malis (not sure how it's spelled) recommended something he would create on the spot for me, he said if I didn't like it I could ask for something else. I had a sip of the drink, and granted the flavor was delicious but my tongue got completely burned because of how hot it was made. I literally had a burnt inflamed tongue for 2 days straight. The man was friendly and all, which is why I didn't say anything because I didn't want to embarrass him and I'm saddened to write this, but I just can't afford to be hurt like this again so I won't be back. read more

My friend and I went to Xolo this weekend after brunch and really enjoyed our time there. We ordered a cafe de olla, latte, and a pumpkin cream cheese pastry. My cafe de olla was so yummy, bold and sweet. Malice, the shop owner, chatted with us and was very generous. He asked what type of coffee I liked and I explained I liked to be able to taste the coffee and have it not be super sweet. I always ask for lite ice when ordering this drink- you don't want to lose the creaminess. Next choice would be The Café de olla which has a natural earthy note to it, a combination of sweet and subtle bitterness over ice will always hit the spot. Pair this with the barrista behind the counter 'Malice'... he's always a pleasure. Every visit he's seen wearing a smile and finds a way to put those who stop by feel very welcomed. Came here to try the Cafe de Olla and got a whole experience. Walking through the door you have a beautiful display of culture greeted by friendly faces. The esthetic is great. You have low rider pics, leather sofas and La Virgen displayed with pride. I tried the cafe de Olla hot straight. No cream or mixins. It was good. You can definitely taste the spices. It was on the sweeter side but it was not overpowering. The banana nut breast was phenomenal. It was moist and fluffy with the right amount of banana to nut taste. Amazing addition to all the great coffee shops in Phoenix! This place is so good! The guy working was super nice and was working hard to get everyone's drinks out but still took the time to discuss the menu with me and their different options. I got Vinter, which isn't the type of drink I'd normally get, but I loved it! It was a latte with coconut and pecan, but it had actual little pieces of coconut in it and was super rich and creamy.
