01/30/25 - I've had a reoccurring issue w/the toilet in the basement not flushing. I had to have a plumber come out twice & rout the sewer line. Each time I couldn't believe the amount of roots that came out of the drain. Each time we cleared the drain & thought we had accomplished the task but within 2 - 3 months the toilet would back up & it became clear that we had a bigger issue than a simple routing of the lines This is when I called on Patrick from Xpert Flood Control & Seepage. I have probably been relying on Xpert Flood for all of my underground plumbing needs. They have always done right by me. When Miguel & his son Miguel Jr came out the first day & cut the floor open above the underground line to the toilet they worked small sections to avoid ripping up too much of the floor. As they worked back towards the toilet it finally became apparent that the clog was in the vertical line. When Miguel opened the line up the root mass was something I had never seen before. What came out looked like a 6" diameter mass almost 3' long of solid tanglement of roots. It looked like he caught a big root fish. Now I understand why the previous 2 routing were temporary fixes. The next day Juan came out and proceeded to remove the old drain completely clean & prep it for the new sewer line. In addition Juan also prepped the line to receive the connection from the horizontal sewer line back up to the opening for the toilet placement & the drain from the sink back to the sewer line. After of of these components were located they backfilled around the sewer drain w/gravel, soil & concrete leaving a flush surface. I watched in amazement seeing the work Juan did measuring & fitting all the components. We just got Xpert Flood control installed after flooding twice this summer on the southwest side of Chicago. Although it hasn't been tested yet with heavy rain, I will say the xpert flood control team are very professional and seem to really care about their work. Miguel was extremely nice and informative with everything he was doing and when they finished they left everything how it was before. Considering they dug an 8 foot huge hole in my front lawn you would think my yard would be destroyed but they kept it in perfect condition. Was recommended to use them by our next door neighbor due to them having the only house on the block that didn't get a foot of flood water in their basement during both rain storms in July and August. We have been meaning to write this review for a year. This company was so professional. Our home had many problems. The biggest one was water and sewage backup into our basement during flash floods in Portage Park. The representative was very knowledgeable and really looked for solutions without trying to upsell us on unnecessary items. It is so rare anymore to find someone who knows what needs to happen. We ended up installing a flood system that blocked sewage backflow from the street. You have to do something like this in Chicago because this city doesn't care if they wreck your home. The company even installs a camera such that, if sewage ever does back up from the main line, they would have the evidence in court to make the city pay for the damage. In the past year, we have seen sewage trucks outside people's homes on our block after a storm. We have not had sewage come through since. This was money well spent. They come out once a year to check on the system and their warranty is transferrable to whoever buys our home. Knowing what we know now, that would be a major selling point. These solutions are never cheap, but this company was great to work with and totally worth it. read more

This is an excellent company who solved a long running issue at my house due to work that was done in the past. Sean and Patrick both explained in detail what needed to be done. In addition to installing a new system on the outside of the house they also tore out the defective system on the inside and returned the inside tile drain to it's original state. I was in the market for a new flood control system for my house after the previous owner installed a terrible sump pump that was a disaster waiting to happen. After meeting with multiple companies, Xpert was clear winner. They were professional and very detailed, walking me through their recommendations and estimate. I put off installing the system for a month or two, which ended when I got water in the basement, of course. Xpert came out the next day to clear out the backed up sewer drain and then scheduled my work asap. Once they started, the crew was professional and courteous, since I was working from home the entire time. They were on time and cleaned up every day. During the instillation, they found drainage pipes that were improperly installed and causing problems and fixed those right away. In total, they installed a flood control system in the front yard and a new sump pump in the basement. All of the parts and equipment they installed are top notch and the work is impeccable. We are brand new homeowners who unfortunately bought a home and then 3 weeks in, had 6 inches of sewer water in our basement. We were at a loss and really didn't know how and why this had happened. I frantically did research and after reading many reviews, I chose to call Xpert. They are a local company which I always strive to support (especially during Covid-19). Sean came out the day after the flood even though he told us they were swamped. He quickly diagnosed the problem and said since it was sewer water, they would put in an emergency permit and begin the work in a few days. The 3 man crew showed up at the same time each day. Miguel (who is truly wonderful & has been an employee for many years) gave me a run-down of what had been done each day and what they would do the following day. Xpert quoted us the exact amount we paid and got the work done in the amount of time they stated. After the work was complete, Pat, the owner sent us photos and a write-up of the problem and work that was done for us to be able to go back to our insurance company after initially being told if it was sump pump issue, that our insurance wouldn't cover it. These guys are expensive, but they do good work. Don't let the 5-star reviews fool you. These guys are chronic no-shows. I was looking for someone to do a power rodding in my sewer line from the garage to the street. They were going to come July 23rd. The night before, the Chicago area had the massive flooding rains, so they called to cancel since they had numerous emergency calls. OK, I understand. I had no flooding, so it could be worse. They set it up for Aug. 6th instead, a Saturday morning. So when it was close to noon, I was wondering where they were. I called the guy in the office and he said he lost touch with his crew. He was going to call me back once he got in touch. No callback and nobody showed up. Perhaps aliens abducted them... Just to be sure, I called again. This time they said they'd come Sept. 13th, offering no reason for the prior no-show. I called them the day before and they said someone is coming between 12 and 5:30 PM. So it's 10:30 PM now as I write this, and nobody came, called or offered to reschedule. If they are flood control experts, they're certainly not sticklers for punctuality or even showing up unless you got a $$$$ plumbing job for them. read more

Our basement used to take on water whenever we had heavy rain falls. 2 years ago, we contacted our city sewer in inspector (from Des Plaines) and he recommended Xpert Flood Control highly. We've now had our Xpert Flood Control for almost 2 years. It's worked perfectly. Last weekend, we had a record rainfall of more than 7 inches of rain in less than 1 hour! I figured, OK, this is the litmus test. If it holds the sewage back this time, it was worth the money we invested! Almost ALL of my neighbors got at least 12" of flooding. Us? NOT A DROP! 12/15/15 This is my second time using Xpert Flood Control. They had originally repaired a deteriorating foundation from the outside. My family wanted to use the basement as a living space, so we needed a dry basement. When I started to get water in three different areas Patrick recommended I do a complete drain tile system on the inside of my basement foundation, that it would eliminate any chances of water getting into the living areas. Patrick's team started on Monday and finished on Friday afternoon. Each evening, they cleaned up and organized the work area. The workers and foreman were polite and very clean. The Friday they ended, it was raining and rained all weekend, sometimes down pouring. All of the problem areas that I had noted in the past were bone dry as was the rest of the basement foundation. We purchase our home in May 2012 that was built in 1952....In April 2013 we flooded along with most of our NIles neighbors...18" total in the basement. Never in life did I imagine this could happen! My inlaws told us about a system that could be installed to prevent this from happening in the future, they did the legwork.....about a dozen companies came out to their house with estimates and proposals and they gave their business to Xpert Flood , and Angelica was there go to person.....We watched the install and about a month after their install we had another flooding rain which once again flooded our basement...BUT their basement was dry this time.....Perfectly DRY !! The first storm they had 12", now none... We called Angelica and set up an apt and she made her proposal which we thought was thorough and we were given a written proposal for the price including everything, NO hidden fee's... We did have a few more proposals , just because , and we cam back to Angelica and Flood Experts.....We decided on Xpert for a few reasons...1 - My inlaws and their due dillegence on the history of many companies and products offered, 2- the product, we were very impressed with their flood system over some of the other ones that are being used and 3 they even offer a guarantee on their product.....Angelica was great...she answered every question and was very courteous with every call we had to her asking even more questions concerning in stall and information. A couple months later we were installed, July 2013. The hottest weekend of the summer so it seemed...their crews were unreal! The equipment was delivered the day before, the precautions that they took to protect the grass areas and existing landscapes and concrete were spot on......They were in and out in 2 days! Some of neighbors that used other companies had the mess for a week or more. Our lawn was pristine after wards....unlike some of our neighbors who had mounds of dirt with landscapers needed after the fact to clean the mess that was left behind.....The day after Xpert left....you would never know they were installing this huge system under our front lawn!!! It looked great....the only addition a manhole cover, for we chose that instead of the concealed lawn topper..... That fall, another large rainfall...we were DRY !! The following spring...DRY......some of our neighbors with out systems are still getting water.... I could NOT BE ANY HAPPIER than I am with Xpert Flood Control...They were very courteous to our needs and scheduling...They were dependable and they ran the business end as they should...without problem.. I first used Xpert to install a flood system in the front of my house. They did a great job and managed to arrange to complete the project before we had to leave for a vacation. All the workers were friendly and professional, as is Angelica in the office. A few weeks after having the flood system installed I had an unrelated issue in my basement. Water was coming in through a dead gas line. I called Xpert and they quickly took care of the job. They cut the pipe our and sealed it with a membrane.
