I understand adding some heat to foods to make it spicy but when it's so damn hot you can't even identify the food or taste any other flavors, you might as well be serving up hot garbage........literally! Okay I've been to this place twice. This is my feel on it. The Good: - AYCE. - They offer unlimited oysters AND sashimi as a part of their AYCE LUNCH. Not JUST dinner, but Lunch too. SUPER HUGE PLUS. And THIS is the reason why I drove 22 miles twice to go here. - Service when it's not busy is real good. - Fish quality is awesome. AND the ratio of fish to rice is wonderful. - I got a 10% off deal for paying with cash my first time. I didn't get it the 2nd time though. - Servers are super nice. Especially the woman. She's great. - Ambiance is good enough to feel home-ish. I felt comfortable eating there. The Not So Good: - It's so far away in the far end of Los Alamitos away from my direction. I live in Brea lol. - They tend to prioritize their "To Go" orders so if you're eat-in and they are prepping to go orders, they will knock those out before working on your eat in orders. The first time I went last week, there were multiple people who ordered food over the phone and one had a HUGE order so it took forever to get my food. - Also if it's busy like there were 3 other parties there, which were a couple, a family of 4, and a party of 6, probably from a nearby business, service is kinda slow. - If you order more than one round of sashimi, they skimp on any following rounds. The first round of salmon sashimi I ordered were BEAUTIFUL cuts and big. I devoured them. The next round I ordered were thin little strips which were a joke lol. I get it though they're expensive but still! I'm a paying customer. If you offer it, fulfill it especially if I'm going to finish it all, WHICH I DID haha. - They stress to you that if you don't finish what you order, YOU WILL GET CHARGED. Don't order too much and don't try to do the "We'll take it home angle". They won't buy it. I honestly will give this place a 4-star rating because of the service (When it's not busy) and they have sashimi AND oysters which they don't put a limit on as long as you finish them. The atmosphere and sushi were totally good! My low star count is because of our pricing issue. We ordered 2 rolls and got 1 free as a promotion/special. We realized afterwards that we could have gotten those same 3 rolls for only $20 instead of the $26 since they were listed under a dinner special. When we inquired about this the waitress told us that she couldn't change the price because we should have told them the specific words "dinner special" as we ordered to get the deal. Her reasoning was that the dinner special comes with soup, rice, etc. and we didn't get those. So not only did we have to pay $6 extra but we didn't get all the sides we could have had for less money. Definitely won't be returning to this restaurant since they were so unreasonable. This is our favorite sushi spot by far! The sushi chef is so friendly, prices aare fair and happy hour is great! I love that my husband and I can come to get a beer and a couple of rolls during happy hour, or we can bring the kids with us for a regular meal. The combos are convenient and easy. We can split a combo between the kids without a problem. Their favorite are the avocado rolls, chicken teriyaki, bulgogi and anything tempura. The fish in the rolls is so fresh. Everything is delicious. I tend to stick to the rolls, the Pink Ranger being my favorite. My husband's go to is the Kiss of Fire. I don't think we've ever ordered something we don't like here. We were a group of four veterans (two in uniform) that hadn't see each other for a while and decided on sushi for dinner one night. The service started out great, drink orders were taken almost immediately followed by the orders for our dinner. The waiter was attentive and kept out glasses full, and most of the food came out relatively quickly. One member of our party waited an extra ten minutes or so for his food, but we didn't think much of it. Up to this point the service wasn't bad, probably warranted 3-3.5 stars at this point. However, our group got to talking so we decided to order one more pitcher of beer for the four of us before heading out. That makes us paying customers right? Well apparently it wasn't good enough for them because shortly after we topped all our glasses off, we were asked to hurry up and finish because there were people waiting for our table (it has filled up since the time we arrived). In other words, paying customers in a military uniform were asked to leave to make space for someone waiting. I don't think that it was good business practice to ask your paying customers to leave your restaurant for different customers. Rude. read more

He seemed occupied but I asked anyway and he told me to "hold on". So waited patiently for about 5 minutes and then he came up to me briefly and asked if I can "wait for 5 minutes". I understood that maybe he was busy with the register or taking orders, etc. Then as I observed, it seemed like there was only one waiter and one sushi chef and I came to the conclusion that they could possibly be short staffed. Just another one of those sushi joints that offer rolls that are made with a ton of mushy rice and drowning in sweet & mayo-based sauces... Personally, I enjoy sushi where you can really taste and identify quality ingredients... not taste a bunch of eel sauce or spicy mayo with each bite. I Love Your Ass Roll: Even with the "spicy crab, spicy tuna, and spicy mayo" there was not a hint of heat in this roll. It literally just tasted like a ball of overcooked rice with eel sauce. Crunch Roll: Bleh. The fact that they used the same mushy rice for all the rolls I tried didn't help it one bit. Yes, crunch rolls are pretty standard in most sushi restaurants, but this roll just was not good. Unfortunately, the avocado they used was overlooked because they decided to serve me overripe, dark, and musty-tasting avocado. Udon: I should've known that this was going to a "quick-style" udon a.k.a instant udon. Noodles were mushy and the broth was just so salty with absolutely no depth of flavor from steeped bonito flakes or kombu. Yellowtail Carpaccio: This was just ok. The quality of the yellowtail was about as standard as it gets in your average sushi restaurant. If the sauce tastes better than the fish then forget it. OVERALL: Our server was horrible and I'm only saying that because there was only my table ( a party of 2) and one other table (another party of 2) and he was extremely non-attentive. The server was literally just sitting at one of the high tables on his phone and rarely came over to ask how our food was or if we had any questions. If these types of sushi restaurants are your thing, I guess there's nothing wrong with that. But if you are looking for quality sushi where the flavors really speak for themselves and the flavor profiles are thought out well, look elsewhere. It wasn't really busy so we sat at the bar to watch the chefs do their magic. We ordered Edamame & 2 Saporro's to start, followed by "who's your ex-wife", "Protein Roll", "911 Roll", "Hulk Roll", & "Popcorn Lobster Roll". Everything was delicious & very fresh! I have been here quite a bit. I have always got great service, But today was not one of those days. The server was an older Asian woman with dark shoulder length hair, light skin complexion. From when we were seated to when we left we were being stared at constantly by her. When it came time to ordering she rushed us and cut us off and didn't even let us finish what we we saying. She would stand and stare and when would finish a side salad and miso she would just come and take it from in front of us. Not even asking if we were done or if she could take the plate. It wasn't even set to the side it was still in front of us literally. Then when we asked for lemon and eel sauce she looked at us rude as if we were bugging her and would just turn away. Mind you me and my best friend each ordered just 1 plate which was the lunch combo, so it wasn't this crazy order. She also brought us the check before we were done eating or even close. She then stood an waited for us to pay. Oh and we weren't the only customers so idn why she was so rude to us and staring so much. I asked her is they still took 10% off when paying cash and she took the check without even responding to me with they money and brought me back the change. I just wanted to leave. I was not leaving a tip either. Not with this service. Mind you how I said she was staring at us while we were getting up to leave. She taps me on the shoulder and asks if I was going to tip her??? Fresh Fresh Fresh! Super Friendly Staff! The Best Prices! Best Quality! I was in town for business and decided to try out extreme sushi for lunch. I met chef Jun and chef Ki, and they were awesome. They made me feel like family. I ordered a spicy salmon roll and yellow tail roll, and was impressed at the love they put into their dishes. They were supper knowledgeable on the different garnishes to bring out the flavors of the fish and satisfy the pallet.
