I ordered something from here via doordash, excited to try this place for the first time. Well, doordash accepted my order and gave me an estimated time of pickup. I head over to the Xulo and to my surprise, it's randomly closed early for maintenance. There's someone inside, however, but she doesn't come to the door to help, just looks at me a few times and ignores my soft knocks and confused face. It's not necessarily a fault of theirs, maybe, who knows.. just some compassion would have been appreciated. And definitely does not want to make me return. read more

We were really excited to try out this new spot and seemed to have decent reviews but upon our arrival we were never helped or acknowledged. We assumed the person who was at the counter counting the money is the owner, we stood directly in front of him and never did we get asked or acknowledged or told that he would get to us. We stood there patiently and even asked questions out loud and he was just there counting the money. We literally stood there for 5 minutes looking like a fool. Visited this place last weekend a little bit before closing. Maybe that is why we were not acknowledged by the gentleman behind the counter. He looked irritated that we came in. We walked up to the counter & the gentleman just stared at us. No "how can I help you" or "what can I get for you." That was the second turn-off w/in a few minutes & I consequently decided I wasn't going to be a repeat customer. My daughter ordered some pastries (which DO NOT taste authentic at all) & that was it. I went a few doors down to buy boba tea instead of spending additional money on coffee here. I expected more from a Hispanic establishment. Our culture is supposed to be warm & welcoming. What can I say...I was super excited to try this place out, but shockingly disappointed. I walked in expecting to be greeted by someone...anyone, yet it was silence. In fact, the person at the counter walked away when we approached the counter and left me and my daughter to stare at the menu up on the wall. He didn't come back, so my daughter and I got the hint and left the establishment. I am hoping and praying that it didn't have to do with the fact that we were both wearing religious coverings, but it would not surprise me if our treatment was motivated by this. Came here in the spur of the moment being in the area looking for a good coffee place with food. Xulo is a cute little cafe with decent seating inside & outside as well. Not to mention they have a very cute photo op inside as well. The person taking our order was nice and took our order fast so we were able to get our food pretty quickly, we even ordered another avocado toast to go and they had that ready and bagged for us before we left. The coffee was just okay, we got the dulce de leche latte & cajeta latte, like I said they weren't bad, but I couldn't really taste the flavors in it, it just tasted like a regular latte. I liked how the food items came with potatoes, the bacon burrito was good too nothing mind blowing, but it wasn't bad either, maybe it needed so type of creamy sauce with it or more cheese in it since it was a little dry. I normally drink nonfat and went with regular milk because they didn't have my choice, drink was well crafted and tasty. I will definitely be back. This one is a hidden gem and one of the best places to sip coffee, get some studying (this place offers quick wi-fi) and enjoy a sandwich along with your drink. This place has plenty of spacious seating and couch space too. The servers here are always friendly and quick to serve. Janelle is super friendly and helpful with any menu questions. This is a hidden gem in Elk Grove. The food and coffee are so good! We've had the avocado toast, burrito with all the proteins and potatoes for a side. Nice little place. A little light if you want protein. I went there for breakfast. My daughter had the avacado toast with greens and said it was excellent. I ordered the ham burrito and would not have known if there was any ham in it. It appeared to have maybe 2 eggs which were used to hold the potatoes together.
