The food was average the service was slow. We called ahead as it was Christmas the lady on phone was curt to the point saying the restaurant will close sharp at 7pm we reached at 6:40 it took them more than 30 mins to serve us. Many ppl walked in after us and were not given the 7:00pm timeline. Our children were squabbling over one straw brought with drinks and the server/probably owner/manager shocked us by telling my 8 year old that she cannot tolerate this and they have to stop this nonsense. Not her exact words but on the same line. Omg I really wanted to get up and walk away but having driven for 9 hrs and kids demanding indian food neither had the strength to drive around and look for more restaurants nor the wish to eat anymore as it was our anniversary and having thrown a few walk outs of restaurants in my past 12 years of marriage. I wanted to let that day slide past but not the event nor the rudeness of that person who I tipped generously. I was very anguished to think that if she has such low tolerance level then probably she should not be in service industry a white collar desk job would do. Visited this place for lunch today and I was very impressed. I looked over the extensive menu and settled on the buffet because I have only eaten indian food one other time and I really didn't know what to oder. There were about 10 things on the buffet not including the small salad selection and the rice pudding for dessert. I sampled everything and was not disappointed by anything.Some of the dishes stood out more than others such as the Vegetable Korma and the chicken tandoori . I would love to give this place 5 stars but I could not justify doing so as I am in experienced with indian cuisine and have nothing to compare it to. The only other time I had Indian food was on a cruise ship and it wasn't that great. The decor and the bathroom could stand a little updating but it was in no way dirty , just old. This place is great! it's affordable, the atmosphere is relaxed, the food is awesome most importantly. I got the "spicy" lamb curry which was flavorful and some of the most tender lamb I've ever had. My fiancé had the "mild" chicken curry which was still fall off the bone tender and flavorful but perfectly seasoned to those who aren't crazy about spicy food. Dined here for lunch today. We were very excited since we don't get out much and haven't been here in a while. Also, I was able to complete a secret shopper school assignment. Upon arrival there was only a single guest already dining. We sat down and were brought waters within two minutes while I scoped out the bathroom. The ladies room was quaint but stocked. We decided to get the lamb mo:mo steamed, to start with because it was heavily advertised throughout the restaurant. After 13 minutes (12:23) our mo:mo arrived, and appeared to be fried. At this point we ordered shrimp tandoori, the buffet, and a chai masala tea. My husband went to the men's room, and described it as a dirty room with no paper towels. At 12:38, my tea arrived. It was at this point that the employee removed our dirty plates (stacked 5 high by this point; three appetizer plates and two buffet plates). By now, there were approximately 8 other tables. At 12:53, my entree arrived. The shrimp and vegetables all seemed to be severely charred. I was able to eat 3 shrimp and my husband ate 1. They were over cooked. My husband tried everything the buffet had to offer, except the okra. The naan was good, but only a few pieces were put out at a time. Some tables would pile a plate with naan in what appeared to be an attempt to avoid not getting any. The saag paneer was tasty over the white rice. The fried rice seemed to be a can of mixed vegetables with white rice and made slightly brown. The vegetable korma, chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, and aaloo mutter were well flavored. I don't know if the restaurant makes their own sauce or if they get them out of jars but they are delightful. The vegetables in the aaloo mutter also appeared to just be canned mixed vegetables. The chowmein was good as well. A few of the onions were pungent in flavor, but most tasted fresh. The aloo chilly seemed to be soggy chilly mo:mo. Apart from being soaked dumplings, they were indistinguishable in taste and appearance. The chicken tandoori was over charred, but towards the very middle was moist. The salad left something to be desired. Iceberg lettuce, sliced carrots, and sliced cucumbers. The cucumbers and carrots were dry, as though they were cut earlier in the week. My husband feels this way about most of the buffet elements, that they are not prepared fresh. After we paid our tab, I asked the cashier/server where their health department scorecard was (I needed a picture for my assignment). It got awkward, and he said I would have to speak to the owner, asked if I had a business card, and never seemed to make an effort of providing the required documentation. One of the best restaurants in Mobile hands down. I have eaten there 5 or 6 times and have had a wonderful experience every time. Both the Indian and Nepalese menus are excellent. I highly recomend the thailis. Excellent value as well. I'm Indian and try to sample Indian food at least once each city I visit in the US. With a 4 star review I had high hopes but it was a let down, at least in terms of what I ordered. Gundruk - mustard greens salad was more like garlic salad, pungent and chewy. The steamed momos had the same filling as far as I can tell - garlic and garlic. The naan was more biscuit and the onion kulcha was like crispy fried pakoras. The malai kofta and chicken tikka masala tasted decent - no surprises. So - stick to very standard items and while ordering ask that they don't make your bread crispy. read more

I came out for the lunch buffet. All of the food was warm and fresh and there were some dishes I had never tried before. I am a vegetarian (well...I try to be one) and over half of the options were veg. friendly. Curries ranged from sweet to savory, mild to spicy and a salad bar was available for skinny bitches who like to pretend their rabbits. For a dollar more my friend and I walked out with chai tea that was unusually spiced but very good. This is my first ever review and the food that I ate there forced me to submit this. I never believed in discrediting some business just because Of my group's personal experience. But. Man, we are ashamed of what this restaurant represents as Nepali Cuisine. We are Nepalese by the way. We ordered C-Momo, mixed chowmein, chicken thukpa, chicken choila, saag paneer, bhaatmass sadeko, aloo paratha, and samosa chaat. I didn't even touch my mixed chowmein the second time. It was tasteless, and had funny taste to it that I have never experienced before in A Nepali Chowmein. The C mo mo had tasteless sauce, like it was from a tomato purée. Chicken Thukpa was nothing but spicy, we could only feel the bitterness. Aloo paratha had no aloo(potato) in it. Samosa Chaat and Bhaatmass was ok. Saag paneer did not takes anything like it should be. Chicken Choila was like a cut chicken with some onions over it. I would have loved to meet the owner of the restaurant. I would love to get my money back because it hurts to have paid more than a $100 bucks on foods that I didn't even eat. Total disappointment. It was understaffed as well. Another complete disappointment. They gave us the wrong order-yes, they bought us something we did not order and when I pointed this out, they looked at me in confusion. The food was either too hot or bland, there was no in between. I asked for chicken tikka muslam asn was bought something with another meat and lots of tomato sauce. I pointed out this was not what I ordered, they took it away, and it too them another 20 minutes before they reappeared with lukewarm food. Everyone else had finished eating. I wish we could remember(and pronounce) all of the dishes we sampled but the Masala and yellow curry were flavorful, the chicken dish with spinach is a do-over and our friend had a spicy tomato based potato only dish that she enjoyed. The naan was some of the best we've had. The MoMo chicken dumplings were good with the chutney they come with. The chai tea was a nice accompaniment. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere quaint. The only thing lacking was the rice pudding for dessert, it had a lot of coconut in it, which I enjoy, but it did not have the raisins and nuts in it as described on the menu and it is served cold. We weren't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The saag paneer was delicious, some of the best we have had. The dal Makhani was okay it wasn't like the makhani at other Indian restaurants. The garlic naan was homemade, it was crispy and fresh. However it wasn't very flavorful. The service doesn't even deserve a star when you talk to them they are very rude and don't help with you looking on the menu .they never come and check on you and have you waiting forever.not once were we helped till we saw someone pass by and we had to ask and the waitress was by the register playing video games.
