Avoid this place! Loaded with MSG! We had lunch there and while the restaurant has beautiful design, good service and tasty food (thanks, chemicals o:( ), we all got really sick when we got home. My husband slept for 6 hours straight, my daughter had diarrhea and I had uncontrollable hunger and gall bladder pain. All these are symptoms of MSG poisoning. We have come here several times and enjoyed the sushi and ramen offerings. I've had both sushi and sashimi that have been fresh and delicious and I've had the chicken and spicy seafood ramen. My husband has enjoyed all sushi he's had, and also like the shumai and octopus appetizers. He's tried two of the pork based ramens and they have never disappointed, especially on a cold and rainy day. The staff is very friendly and service is quick despite them always having most tables full. That being said, we've personally never had a long wait if any. The restaurant itself is very clean and you can still hold a conversation without it getting to loud. read more

I've been here a few times for lunch and most recently for dinner at 6:30pm on 11/21. The sushi chef couldn't have been bothered to greet me, let alone glance at me when I walked in for a dinner seat for a party of 1. The store was empty so I asked if the store was open and the chef stared at me, mumbled, and pointed behind him. He did however, greet all of the subsequent parties that entered after me. What this came off to me was that a single diner like I, couldn't be valuable to his business and that he'd rather cater to groups. The servers are usually nice here, the sushi is decent: at least the lunch/dinner yellowtail love combo is...however, the spicy salmon and tuna rolls smelled old. I won't be coming back here due to the sushi chef's poor attitude, not with all the other excellent sushi businesses I could spend my money at in VA. read more

This restaurant is nearby the spa so we decided to try it out. I won't be returning. The food was decent but nothing to call home about. My gyoza tasted good but I have had better. If you look at the Image, you can see small pieces attached to them as if they need to strain their frying oil or some thing. I've come here twice now several months apart: once for a date night out and once on a whim in workout clothes with a baby. Although both times there were lapses in service (that were effusively corrected!), the food has for both times been strangely superb. +++ Fish quality. Usually I'm all about the fancy rolls but this was the first time I ever where the sashimi the sashimi was all I wanted in the combo/entire table. There was just something outstanding about that raw salmon I haven't had elsewhere. ++ Ambiance is absolute warmth and style with some very striking and beautiful lighting fixtures. And the vibe bleeds over into the bathroom to boot. Thus yes, great for a date night. ++ Customer service. First time we visited we were seated in the back and were starving and they kind of forgot us?! Took something like 20 minutes to get taken care of but then they came back and apologized profusely and (my favorite) with a food on the house. The second time for our hibachi they did fried rice instead of fried noodles and they came out with the corrected side of noodles. ++ Ingredient freshness and texture: super thinly sliced cucumber in the sunomono. Likewise the creamy dips for hibachi are good but the ginger one shines. + Rice seasoning and temperature! I'm a sucker for just over room temp rice (...body temp, if you will) and they deliver that here. + Poke bowl was different than I'm used to but I really enjoyed it! It's more... refined? compared to your fast-casual analogues. Think different types of pickles instead of different types of salty crunchies. + Hibachi was a large portion and so flavorful! Thankfully from the order mistake we tried the fried rice and the fried noodle both and we liked the fried rice better surprisingly. + I swear they fried a bunch of tempura batter bits so the vegetable tempura would be sitting in a bed of warm crispies. Fun and delicious to eat! ~ Sigh but why are fried vegetables so darn expensive! ~ Their baby booster seat was great but could have benefitted (I'm sure as all do) from a good grime wipedown. Five stars! What a cute little restaurant. Inside is absolutely adorable. The service is reasonably quick and on a weeknight you can be in and out within an hour. I tried the sashimi appetizer which to be honest the fish was not the freshest but I have not tried the actual sushi and I would come back and try the sushi and maybe some other sashimi. Maybe it was an off night? However I would definitely come here for the hibachi entrees! I absolutely loved the chicken and steak. They were both so tender and cooked in delicious sauce. I asked for a side of noodles as well which were super tasty and a pretty large size for a side. The yum yum sauce is great but a little watery. The spicy Mayo is amazing but definitely has a strong kick! I will for sure be back - more so for the Japanese food but would love to try some sushi next time. read more

If there were 6 stars I would have rated so. It's not my first time here but the "(yes actually a Japanese) Japanese sushi chef always prepared really fresh sushi!" Not because this is Nobu NYC quality but at their price point, one can't get any better quality fresh sushi anywhere else. Their servers are always pleasant and courteous - that is a rarity these days post pandemic years in most eateries with constant change overs elsewhere. Pictured sushi chef special - Toro - divine. Very tasty Chirashi comes with various different kinds of fish and also pickled veggies. That part is different than any other chirashi i've ever had. We were near Chantilly and searched for a place to have lunch. We found Yaki sushi and thought we would give it a try. We are glad we did. The restaurant is very new and brightly lit place to eat. The staff was welcoming. We got a table by the front window. They have hibachi and sushi lunch special selections, which are reasonably priced. Two of our group got hibachi, chicken and beef. The other person ordered sushi and sashimi lunch special. The portion sizes were good. They offered a variety of sauces for hibachi meals. Everyone enjoyed their selections. We considered ourselves lucky to have find Yaki sushi. We will go back again. read more

I remember when this place was Shimizu & liked them. they had decent sushi if I remember correctly & when it turned into Yaki Sushi, I told my husband we needed to try them. I ordered a sushi & sashimi combo for two & a salmon mango roll. the combo for two was ok. I feel like the combo didn't have much of what I wanted. It was a few custom rolls, but also had your regular tuna & salmon. it wasn't something to write home about.....but I will say, the winner of the night is the salmon mango roll not only was that roll slightly sweet, the flavors of the mango played perfectly with the salmon. I highly recommend y'all try this roll. read more
