During my turn to choose a location, I had no clue what to expect when I suggested this spot. I was pleasantly surprised walking into such an appealing restaurant. This place looks so much better in person. From Persian Rugs scattered across the floors, to gold-framed paintings and mirrors lining the walls. White tablecloth linens in one section and marble topped tables in the other, with ornate chandeliers hanging overhead. Plus elegant gold-plated knives and forks sitting on top of gold-rimmed plates. As the name suggests this restaurant has antique, decorative touches elevating its aesthetics. As for our meal, we enjoyed our apps more than our mains. The Meze Trio, especially the Tarama: Lemony Carp Roe with Ikura Caviar, was the best of the three to me. Borek's looking like spring rolls and Grilled Spicy Shrimp were hits. I chose an app as my main, Fish Tacos. I detected a taste of sardines, which I appreciated. The fish seemed grilled then sautéed and was very well seasoned. Service matched the inviting atmosphere. Our server Abdurrahim, allowed us time to catch up without being pushy and the secondary servers were all extremely polite. I felt the hospitality. To enhance the afternoon even further, there was a DJ providing mellow tunes in the background making for an all-around satisfying dining experience amongst my wonderful company of friends at Antique Garage-Rye. TIP: Parking can be challenging, but attainable within the area. Pack your patience.

Especially the Rye location! Rye was basically my backyard after living in White Plains for 24 years which is a skip and a hop away. Plus hubs' favorite steakhouse is just a couple streets over. There's parking nearby, but baby... good luck grabbing a spot. You gotta circle several times, keep eyes open and be ready to slide in when somebody pulls out. Antique G., is BIG big. And the vibe is airy with like a lot of boho flair. It's real cute without trying too hard. The indoor dining area is big, there's a patio right by the sidewalk, there's a whole covered patio decked out with these Moroccan-style rugs and gorgeous brass mirrors, plus there's another gravel patio off to the side. We went with the bigger covered patio. The menu has a nice mix of Turkish plates, pescatarian options, plus enough for the vegetarians and carnivores too. I mean... everybody's in good hands. We were. My cocktail was nice, but the appetizers were really where it was at. We shared the meze trio, some spicy+ juicy shrimp and spinach+feta (?) börek rolls. Everything was tasty. Not one bland appetizer hit that table. For main plates, two of us went with omelettes while my other friend got the fish tacos. And because those appetizers had set the bar pretty high, I somehow expected my Farmer's omelette to wow me too. Not totally. I mean, I ate it- but I was expecting fluffy, buttery, moist omelette goodness and it didn't totally give me all that. As much as I love chocolate, we all went for the apricots soaked in syrup and stuffed with clotted cream and walnut to share. Interesting. But I hoped for more syrup. Our server was respectful and didn't rush us- even when we told him to give us some extra time to catch up. Antique G. has good food, really tasty appetizers and nice service. I'd come back.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ New England Seafood Chowder - Very good. Came out piping hot and had lots of potato chunks, carrots and fish inside. Only knock is we wish we had more! + Clam Pizza - Personal pie size pizza. Honestly, just the right size. Verrrrry delicious and verrrrry flavorful, BUTTTTT the flavor didn't come from the clams - it came from the over-dominating flavor of the bacon scattered all over the pizza. Not to say that the bacon flavor was bad, but it could have used more clams. + Kids Mac and Cheese - Gooey just the way we, especially our kids, love it. + Grilled Angus Burger - Solid burger. Cooked medium and it was the right shade of pink inside, but the burger was a litttttle dry. It was not dripping juices and oil as I would prefer. Plenty of fries onions on it though. Fries reminded me of the thin McD fries. + Steak Tacos - Just 2 tacos. Would have liked if it was an order of 3. Steak was good though. Guac inside mixed with the steak chunks definitely made it better considering that the steak was well done. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Friendly and courteous waiter. Accommodated our numerous ketchup requests and never forgot anything. + Food came out VERY quickly. - For the Grilled Angus Burger, cheese did not come with it for free, but the waiter asked what cheese I wanted, which misled me to think that cheese came with the order. I ended up adding swiss cheese, which definitely made the burger better, but it was an extra charge. The extra $2 for the cheese was not the issue, but the way that I felt that the waiter misled me was the issue. Instead of asking what cheese I wanted, he should have asked "Would you like cheese with your order?" It's the principle. Feel me? Because of this, had to knock off a star off what would have been a 4-star review. THE SURROUNDINGS -------------------------------- + Private parking lot was in the back. All of the spaces in the front are for the Rye Train Station and paid, so DO NOT park in front of the restaurant if you're here to dine. + SUPER spacious restaurant with 2 levels - 2nd level seems like it is for private parties. 1st level has 3 dining areas PLUS a nice, huge bar area. + Multiple TVs located by the bar. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- + Came by on a random August Friday at 11:45 AM and, as expected, it was pretty quiet at first, but business picked up verybquickly and it became pretty busy by 12:45.

In this situation, strong management is a must in order to bridge the knowledge and experience gap. I arrived to the restaurant with a tinge of sadness because this place is the former Seaside Johnies restaurant run by John Ambrose. John also ran the Tiki bar and he was a long time friend. His sudden passing a few years ago was a shock as he was a great guy and restaurant fixture in Westchester for over 40 years- including the Crab Shanty. The setting at Barley Beach House needs lots of help. The patio can use a solid cleaning and Placemats on the tired tables would be a good start. Luckily the weather was ideal- cool with a nice breeze so our patience was in good supply. It took a very long time for drinks and food to arrive. The table behind us arrived after us and actually finished their meal before we received our entrees. A comp round if drinks was sent over but that was also late. The young server tried but the orders got mixed up by the paper orders going into the kitchen.....Something like that. The food was just ok but if service and timing was better it would have been fine. The Service charge was automatically added for our 6 diners..... Having worked in restaurants as a teenager it was a reminder of what happens when proper management is lacking. A manager never stopped by to apologize or assist. The least you can do is to overstaff seasonal places to assuage your green team. RIP John A.

The ambiance was sexy and inviting, the music was lively without making it difficult to have a conversation, and the staff were warm and friendly. The drinks were definitely a highlight. I ordered the Purple Panties, and it was delicious and strong enough that I felt a buzz after three. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered another! My husband had the Old Fashioned and really enjoyed it. We kept things light with truffle fries, Philly eggrolls, and chicken eggrolls. The Philly eggrolls were delicious, especially paired with the chipotle sauce. The chicken eggroll was a little dry, but the honey sauce was delicious and helped balance it out. I wouldn't order the chicken egg roll again. The food overall was good and perfect for sharing while we enjoyed our drinks. Most importantly, we were able to relax, talk, laugh, and actually enjoy each other's company, which made it such a memorable anniversary night. Great drinks, sexy vibes, good food, and a date-night atmosphere we'll definitely be returning to!!

We started off with some drinks, and their jerk spring rolls and codfish fritters. Everything was really good. Hubby had their lomo saltado. He said it was OK but the rice was dry and it wasn't served as it should be, with the sauté on top of the French fries. I had the ribeye with mac & cheese and cabbage slaw. The steak temp was perfect, as was the mac. The slaw was bland - I wish I ordered a different side. My kiddo had their chicken fingers w/French fries, and liked it. The ambiance and aesthetics definitely lived up to the hype, and our waitress was kind, attentive, and did her best throughout the night. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill because of the wait. We arrived and were seated around 7:45 PM, but we didn't receive our food until about 9:15 PM. We ordered a Caesar salad, oxtail spring rolls, lomo, and jerk chicken. After waiting for what felt like forever, our waitress explained that our order had been given to the wrong table. While I appreciated her honesty, it was frustrating that it took so long for the mistake to be noticed and corrected. As for the food, I'd give it a 3.5/10. It had potential, but overall it just missed the mark for me. After such a long wait, I expected much better. We were only offered 15% off the bill, which didn't really feel like adequate compensation for a 90-minute wait caused by the restaurant's mistake. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, it wasn't a good one. I'd seen this restaurant all over social media and had high expectations, but my experience didn't live up to the hype.
