Gr8 service gr8 vibes in silver lake. Matcha was pretty good but the yalla latte was better. They have free almond / oat milk I believe which is nice

Vanilla and Fig Matcha (not whisked well)
Winnie L.

30 minutes before closing, there was still a line out the door on a Sunday. I would say it was about 10 min of waiting in line plus waiting for the drink. The cafe had a trendy industrial vibe. It is very crowded so it may be difficult to find a spot to enjoy your drink if you have a big group. Staff wasn't too welcoming or friendly. I ordered their fig matcha and the matcha wasn't fully whisked, leaving small green clumps throughout the drink. While the flavor was enjoyable, the texture felt slightly uneven and could be improved.

Got the popular Fig Vanilla Matcha and it did not disappoint! The fig flavor came through nicely without overpowering the drink, and the matcha itself was smooth and rich. Would come back again.

And if I could give it 6 stars I would! I loved it! Quality drinks and not overly expensive like other coffee shops in the area. I'm not sure why I'm seeing low ratings on there- something about the service but it's just a coffee shop. Why do people feel the need to have exceptional service at a coffee shop? It's clearly not a Michelin restaurant. Anyway this is my top einspanner in LA, and the cream top is not overly sweert. It's all well balanced. I can't wait to come back for that fig matcha. Atmosphere is cool, love the whole minimal and cultural concept!

Came to Yala for all the hype and loved it for the service. As you walk in you are greeted by an open area along with a seating area (bench) along the wall. I asked the barista for her recommendation and ordered the "evil eye" hands down 10/10 . Brewed with hot sand, the coffee is truly richer in taste, creamier and obviously super hot. Loved that the barista explained the process of the brewing and added that the small coffee grounds left at the bottom of the cup shouldn't be drank. I've had my shares of Turkish coffee and can honestly say, this one is worth coming for. Parking is scarce, so come knowing you will spend time looking for parking. However, the drinks are worth coming for. I will definitely try the rest of their menu.

Fig and vanilla matcha latte

Finally got a chance to stop by the Yala Silver Lake location! There was a bit of a line and the store itself was busy but the wait wasn't bad. I was craving a matcha and got the fig and vanilla matcha. The matcha itself was high quality, but unlike the fig and vanilla matcha I got at the Studio City location, this matcha did not have the expected fig and vanilla flavor. Not sure if it was because I got the drink less sweet, but I barely tasted any fig if at all. They had also had run out of the freeze dried figs (it was around 2pm) which is not a big deal but I the freeze dried fig on top adds to the overall aesthetic haha. The cafe itself isn't the best spot to hang out as there isn't much seating (one row of seating along the wall) and it felt pretty crowded on the inside on a weekend. Street parking only. Need to come back to try their coffee!

I've been to the studio city location and had a great experience. I happened to be in the area for this location so I decided to stop by. Instantly I felt like Something about this location was less appealing. For starters the staff was not in the slightest warm or welcoming. When I asked for a stopper to close my beverage I was met with such attitude. I got the evil eye cortado and small yala latte. Both were good but honestly the lack of kind customer service left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I tried the popular Fig Matcha Latte!! It tased pretty good. The fig mix comes at the bottom of cup with the matcha poured on top. I'd say the fig mixture tastes like very sweet honey with a breeze of fig flavor. The drink is beautiful, with a freeze dried fig on top for aesthetic. Such an adorable touch. After the matcha is mixed up, the color isn't half bad. The reason I rate this a 3/5 is because LA is a hotspot for matcha, especially around the silverlake area! There is definitely better matcha but I did enjoy my experience at Yala. One critique: BRING BACK SIZES why is every cafe one-size cups. I absolutely hateeee that. Please, sometimes I want a medium or large. I do not want to finish my $8 matcha in 3 sips. I'm so over it.

Once Yala opened a spot in Silver Lake, I wondered if this location would carry the same amount of hype as their original cafe in Studio City. As the long line during a recent weekend visit proved, this place seems to be as popular as its first location! However, I find it to be a lot more chill during weekday visits, and while I like the coffee I would not wait in a lengthy queue to get it. I usually get the Evil Eye, which is a small cup of sand coffee topped with a dollop of their cream top and a crusted raw sugar rim. I recently tried their Yala Latte, which I thought was fine though it did not leave a strong impression. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and the indoor area has a bit of a rustic aesthetic.

Omg the infamous Fig Matcha!! The place doesn't have a lot of seatings, not that you could comfortably do work at. The lighting, though, is really great, with their large window up front. The service was very welcoming and we enjoyed their company as well. We were a bit disappointed, though, because from the viral videos and photos, we were expecting fresh figs. It didn't matter that much, though, because the taste is still really tasty!! One of my top matcha in LA for sure!! Fig Matcha [8/10]

best chocolate chip I've had in a very long time
Delfin T.

There was such a long line and people were leaving with matcha drinks that looked delicious... so we just had to try. Ordered the vanilla & fig ice cold matcha with a side order of choc chip cookie. So glad we decided to give this place a try. The ice cold matcha was strong & flavorful... and the cookie was one of the best choc chip cookie I've ever had... soft, chewy & very chocolaty

Cecilia L.

Honestly this place was a no for me, maybe we went on a bad day. There was a long line (out the door) but they were pretty quick, i got their Yala latte but it was very milky and flavorless, it almost didnt even taste like coffee at all. The cream top was good but the rest was whatever. The matcha was the same thing, it had no flavor and did not taste like the best quality or maybe just didnt have enough matcha. The concept of how they heat up the espresso is pretty cool and the drinks are very aesthetically pleasing to look at but when they dont taste good, the rest doesn't really matter. I didnt really interact with the staff but it was pretty standard customer service.

We arrived midday on a Sunday and we're promptly sat, having been given the option for patio or indoor. We chose the patio, and between the clematis, lantana, and olive trees it is a very lovely setting in which to enjoy a meal. We were promptly brought a bottle of cold water and glasses, and our beverage orders were taken. I had a honey lavender latte with oat milk, and my husband had Lebanese coffee (no milk no sugar.) my latte was fragrant, the perfect temperature, and just the right amount of sweet. The Lebanese coffee was smooth, floral without being perfume, and excellent. We started with the falafel and the batata harra. Both absolutely excellent. For our entrees we selected the shakshuka and the Lebanese egg pie. Both were also excellent. Everything was well cooked, well presented, flavorful without being overwhelmed by any component. We took home a baklava tart, because we simply did not have the ability to eat more at the table. It was tender, moist, not too sweet, the pistachio flavor coming through as nutty and grassy, seriously so good! And it's worth noting, this whole restaurant is gluten free. I would not have realised if I had not known ahead of time. The texture of the pita with the shakshuka was exactly what one would expect, as was the bread of the egg pie. The pastry of the tart was flakey and delicious. And having said all of that, the service is what puts it above and beyond. Everyone was warm and pleasant, and seemed to genuinely appreciate the compliments. Staff seemed like they liked their jobs, which for me is always a good sign.

It had that rare neighborhood-restaurant vibe where you're made to feel comfortable, never rushed, and like they're actually happy you're there. The patio is another reason to come back. It's cozy, charming, and tucked away enough to feel like a little escape from Sunset. Perfect for a slow brunch and a couple of good coffees without feeling like you're sitting on the sidewalk. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The Lebanese egg pie was packed with flavor. The shakshuka was rich, bright, and perfectly balanced, and the falafel was some of the best I've had. We had a Lebanese coffee and a honey lavender latte, and both were excellent. The coffee had that deep, traditional richness, while the latte was floral without crossing into overly sweet territory. One thing that's genuinely impressive is that the entire restaurant and bakery is dedicated gluten-free. We don't eat gluten-free ourselves, and if nobody had mentioned it, I never would have guessed. Nothing felt like a compromise, everything was just delicious. It's also pretty cool that people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities have a place where they can order anything on the menu without having to think twice, while everyone else still gets an exceptional meal. That's a win for everyone.

My friend got Indian food a few weeks ago so I felt inspired to get some too (or Pakistani food,…read morenot sure). Regardless, I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. I love how big the naan is that they give you. They make it fresh too. Even though I've tried a bunch of their skewers, this time I tried the fish karahi, which came with my choice of naan or rice. I chose naan. It was really good but it was a little too spicy for me. The cashier told me they could add yogurt the next time around. However, what really stood out is how the fish was cooked. I feel in American restaurants, fish is just cooked in a way that makes it just taste ok. However, at like Chinese restaurants, they really know how to make the fish taste amazing and have it be so plump and juicy. They make their fish like that here! The juicy and plump way where you're just like, "Wow I just want to keep eating this!" I also got a chicken roll too which is fried and crispy. Good appetizer. They also have water for free here too but I didn't see the dispenser so I just brought something from my car in. The ambiance is cozy here. Nice seating area. Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The food may be fine, but the service completely ruins the experience. I would not return or recommend this place.
