Wait: Never. I always take out. Server: The hosts and servers are always nice. When I call, they know that I'm Gluten Free and always inform me that they'll add some extra Tamari (GF soy sauce). Food Quality& Order: The Sushi is decent. The Nigiri is also decent. It's really the proximity to work and the kind faces that keep me coming back on lunch. Still haven't found a satisfactory sushi bar in Annapolis. I specifically asked for extra wasabi and ginger for my sushi and sashimi combo. What I was given was completely typical amount and the wasabi had no bite. Seriously, for a $25+ dinner to go, there was no chopsticks, no napkins and a tiny amount of wasabi and ginger. I did ask for extra wasabi and ginger! The rice was semi dry and didn't taste like it was done right. I think homemade sushi tastes better. So many good things to say about this place. Don't judge the location as it is in a strip mall, they were busy inside for a reason. We were quick to be greeted, and a table once available we were seated promptly. The sushi ordered was very good quality and fresh, as well as the miso soup. We found this cute little sushi spot in Annapolis and we'll be regulars from now on. We were a group of 5 for lunch. Since they're following Covid DPH guidelines we waited for about 5-10 minutes before we were seated. They accommodated us by putting two tables together and although we were happy with it, it was a little tight for al the food we'd ordered. It's like they read my mind! As soon as the table to the right of us left, the gentleman server brought another table for us. Let me start now by saying that the degree of their caring and attentive service was quite unexpected. They were amazing, like unbelievably kind! As a restaurant owner, this is how I expect my staff to treat customers (and they do:)) Honestly we'd ordered so much that I don't recall all the names but my most favorites were the yellowtail and jalapeño appetizer, spicy scallop roll and the kids loved the volcano. We are everything and Re-ordered. When they brought the second order I'd placed, they brought us a roll on the house that was delicious! Everything was super fresh, super tasty and presented nicely. We were in Annapolis doing a little bit of shopping when I just had a craving for sushi and found this place on Google. When we walked in, we had great customer service. It's a small place with plenty of room. Our sushi came out on a sushi boat which I thought was really cool because I've never had that before and we only ordered three rolls of sushi. The customer service was great. They were not overbearing or bothered us too much. I really enjoyed my miso soup and overall I thought the sushi was very fresh and the next time I go to Annapolis I would eat there again. read more

We have tried a few sushi places in this area but none can compare to Yama. First of all Peter is the most pleasant and helpful server you will meet!!! I will request him every time we can go. Although the the next time will be May but we cannot wait to see him again! On our short visit we went twice and brought our son who also could not believe how amazing the food was to include how great Peter is as a server. The tea was great to start. Peter then brought us this cucumber salad that was delicious and the perfect way to open your taste buds for your sushi experience. We had the Goldfish roll, Tower roll, and we added nigiri yellowtail and white tuna. So mouth watering and fresh. The sushi chefs knocked it out of the park with great respect to balance all the flavors, rice, and fish. The second time we came with our son we had to start Supreme roll, Ocean roll, Lover's roll with nigiri Eel and Yellowtail - absolutely perfection! But of course we were still hungry after all the walking around and Football game we ordered one more round that included the Goldfish roll, Volcano (fried), with nigiri White and traditional tuna. Personally, not as a big of fan of fried so I will definitely skip that but that is a personal preference. I know Peter will do his best to remember us and help introduce us to other rolls. My friends and I have been coming to Yama for years. Now since I've moved away, whether it be dine in or take out, I need to stop in every time I'm in town! Easy parking. Excellent pricing compared to some sushi spots downtown, and Yama has better quality in my opinion. The service is always friendly and there's almost never a wait. They've started to bring out mini pickled cucumber dishes to start your meal, and sometimes if you order a lot you'll get a free little roll on the house. Definitely get the dinosaur egg to start! I normally stick with nigiri and rolls, but my mom likes to get things from the hot dinner menu and is always satisfied. We recently tried the tempura veggies and the breading on them was super light and fresh. Very good. Every time. read more

This is a threadbare, single-width restaurant in a seedy strip mall. The service was slow, even by Sushi Bar standards. However, my Sushi Deluxe entree was generous and tasty. A nice assortment of large chunks of tasty fish, even in the included rolls, that were nicely laid out. I walked in and put in an order to go for a paradise roll, shrimp teriyaki, and salmon teriyaki. It was not until I got home that I realized that they did not actually take my full order. This could have been prevented if a) the host I ordered with actually repeated my order or b) I was provided an itemized receipt at any point of transaction to review. The host took the itemized receipt upon its printing and never showed me it - I was only given a final total to sign for. Thus, I was under the perception that the staff were capable of producing my order as I requested. Upon me realizing that I only received 2/3 of the items that I requested for purchase, I called the institution under the perception that the host actually placed the correct order. When I called, I told whoever picked up the phone my order and how I'm missing something. She then states that my order was not actually submitted correctly. I'm annoyed at this point, in which she first asked if I wanted to put in additional order (mind you I live a good ~ 25 min from the institution) so I said no. Then she mockingly says "well there isn't anything I can do for you." Not once did the worker apologize for their mistake or even show a droplet of empathy for their own mistake. This is my first and last time visiting this place. If you do not want to work, then don't. The lack of quality service is unfair for someone who's spending their hard earned money. I did give a star for the sushi roll - the chef did what they had to do. But unfortunately the poor service of the front end makes it lacklustering and removes the desire to patronize the institution. read more

This was by far the worst sushi I have had in such a long time. The sushi was oddly sweet. The spicy filling they use it exactly that. Just a filler. I have 12 pieces left on my plate and I never leave anything on my plate. I contemplated leaving to get a whole different cuisine. I also spit out the cheesecake that was given with the check. An unassuming sushi bar located near some shopping areas in Parole, MD. This small eatery has few seats, but they are not cramped and the atmosphere is somewhat cozy. Staff is friendly and service is pretty fast. The sushi here is good. They do have some unique rolls that are not on menus at other nearby sushi places. The dinosaur egg, although not that unique, is done very well here and worth a try if you have never had one before. This is a good choice, but none of the flavors and service need some work. The servers were friendly, but kind of slow. The restaurant is loud. It's small and the kitchen is right in the front. They also have storage in the rear of the place so there's constantly cooks, servers etc walking back and forth through the main dining area.. and yet my drink was empty a lot and it took quite a while to order. Still, sushi rolls were fresh, flavors were good, price was a little high, but acceptable and the selection was great. I will say I ordered two rolls that were supposed to be "spicy" and I don't think they'd even make a suburban soccer mom blush. Just a lack of punch all the way around.
