Double check your to go orders, this place is a scam. I paid for a Caterpillar roll and got a California roll. When I called them they wanted me to bring them back what I got so they can "switch it".

We live in Los Angeles, right next to the ocean, and come from a place where sushi and Korean BBQ are everywhere -- and I can honestly say Yama Sushi is better than a lot of spots back home. I came here with my girlfriend and our 2-year-old daughter and was seriously impressed. The spicy tuna roll and the bulgogi were hands down my favorites -- fresh, flavorful, and done right. There was an older Asian lady running the floor by herself, serving us and about three other tables, and she was incredibly attentive the entire time. Never felt rushed, never ignored. I don't understand how this place is under 4 stars -- those reviews are straight BS. This is easily my favorite place to eat in Redding. We will absolutely be coming back.

Tried Yama Sushi for the first time this week and had a pleasant experience. The servers were friendly, helpful, and quick to take our order. We settled on some edamame and potstickers as an appetizer as well as a couple sushi rolls and a hand roll. Overall, the food was well cooked and had good flavor. Most of the items we would order again except the chicken, which is more a personal preference rather than it not being done well. They offer the cool sushi boat bar for lunch which looks worth a try. My only qualm was the restaurant itself. It was really run down and had a weird smell. The tables were short in comparison to the benches we sat on.

Miss coming to this place but love the happy albacore roll. To go rolls are always great and the staff are friendly. The place was clean and quiet when I arrived.

Yama Sushi seems more of a Korean BBQ place than a real sushi place. I mean there's still plenty of sushi or order. I was here with a friend and wanted sushi, not really into KBB, as I really don't wanna hafta cook my own food at the table. You get all smoky smelling after dinner too. We ordered some rolls cause my friend likes rolls more than the real nigiri raw fish experience. It seem to take a long tome for the rolls to get served, but maybe they were just busy. I don't expect a authentic Japanese sushi experience here in Redding, where there's few Japanese people around, but I was hoping for a competent skilled sushi experience. ... even if it is just rolls. The rolls seem a little over piled with other stuff than the actual fish. They tasted OK, sort of on the sweet side but would make the less experienced diner happy and that's what my friend is so it's all good. Not what I'd order, but we had a fine time.

Side dishes were also bad, everything tastes salty.

This was by far the worst KBBQ experience I've ever had. The food quality was incredibly poor meat was tough, poorly marinated, and looked questionable. But what made it even worse was the owner's behavior. Despite clearly advertising an all-you-can-eat (AUCE). Completely unprofessional and felt like a scam. Avoid this place at all costs, there are far better KBBQ spots in California that actually respect their customers.

Our server was kind and attentive, we were seated quickly, our drinks never sat empty. I've tried this place before and originally (during COVID) was unimpressed, since it was during the pandemic I figured we should give it another chance. Which was one of the best decisions we've ever made. The food was fresh the drinks are cold the service was fantastic. Let's go down the checklist: The restaurant was clean. The atmosphere was wonderful they even had the boats running again. (On certain days) The service was fantastic. The food was delicious and well prepared. And the food quality and quantity to price was very well balanced. That earns Yama Sushi a five-star rating from this Professional Critic.

Very good sushi. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday but we were well taken care of. The all you can eat lunch special is a fun parade of boats filled with fresh plates of food circling the center of the restaurant. Everything was very good. We will definitely be back for more sushi and we are excited to try the Korean BBQ too

Excellent food. Excellent service. This is a little out of the way but is a great place for sushi in Redding. We went for lunch on a Saturday. They were prompt and the rolls tasted great. The Cinderella roll has a nice crunch and the crazy roll is just a bit spicy. The mochi was chewy and delicious. Definitely will come back.

We ordered a variety of appetizers, sushi rolls, and stir fry's. It was surprisingly pricey, but I'm told that they're comparable to other sushi places. As someone that doesn't frequent sushi restaurants, I felt like the amount of food didn't really match the prices. The main reason for removing stars was the service was lacking. We waited for over an hour before any food (we even ordered apps) hit the table. The waitress wasn't on top of keeping drinks full, or even making sure we have silverware or napkins. It was a bit of a struggle to get what we needed during our time here. Would I eat here again? Yes. Would it be my first choice? No.

First and last time I will be coming here…read more I placed a specific order over the phone, but when I picked it up, several ingredients were missing. To make matters worse, the rolls were extremely dry and not enjoyable to eat at all--my kids ended up throwing them away. I called to let them know the order was incorrect, and at first they apologized and offered us a credit. I appreciated that and thought they were making it right. However, just a few minutes later, they called back and said they could no longer honor the credit and would only remake the order if we paid again. I'm honestly disappointed that they would rather lose a customer than stand behind their mistake. Good customer service is about making things right when an error happens, and unfortunately that wasn't our experience. We won't be returning.

I just heard there was an all you can eat sushi place here in Redding. Normally, I gotta go to Reno…read moreor even Sac to get all you can eat sushi (AYCE). In Reno almost every place is all you can eat. I gotta say, once you've done all you can eat sushi for around $30 bucks, ordering ala carte and paying by the piece or roll is not the deal at all. Osaka Sushi here in Redding is located right off Churn Creek Road where it crosses over the 44 by the Food Max. Just head to the Food Max and go to the left of the building and it's at the end. Easy parking. Inside is very nice and modern. If you didn't know, all you can eat sushi is NOT a buffet where you pile on a bunch of premade sushi on a tray. No, IT's all made to order here and most all AYCE sushi places like in Nevada are made to order. There's a few rules that all these place have, like no wasting food at the end, only order what you're gonna eat or they'll charge you for wasted food. There's lunch and dinner options here. It's around $34 for the dinner, and that gives you full access to all the real good expensive stuff on the menu. Lunch is $26 and gives you the basic sushi rolls and nigiri, but not the premium stuff. You get a 2 hour limit as well, but I've never had to go that long before I was all stuffed and had to do the el stuffo waddle outta there. Service was quick and efficient, not like some places where they give slow service just so you don't eat as much! We ordered a bunch of nigiri orders. I like that the dinner price includes real sashimi orders (no rice) as well as more of the expensive cuts of fish or the soft shell crab. The Ikura (salmon caviar) was excellent and fresh. We just kept ordering till we reached our limit of tummy space. We were there for about 90 minutes, so nowhere the time limit. I'm glad to have Osaka Sushi in Redding, sure beats driving to Nevada ... especially in winter!
