Oh Baby! The Oh Bat roll is so so good! Fresh, bright and slightly sweet. The Sashimi Rolm was there with one of my favorites as well! Loved the sauce that was served with it. The sexy roll was just spicy enough, just how li like my sexy rolls. It was so busy an lively for a Wednesday evening. Service was a solid ok.

Found this place from all the great reviews on here and honestly it did not disappoint! Super fresh food with a kind staff. Our server Andrea was not only welcoming, she also helped answer any questions we had about the menu. Highly recommend!

I'm disappointed to say my first time at Yanagi Sushi was not the greatest. I absolutely loved the decoration & ambience of the interior & the waitresses were so kind! My bestie & I started off with some handrolls that were truly some of the best I've ever had, this made me so excited for the rolls we had ordered as well. However, the rolls did not live up to my expectation. Both rolls tasted off, as if the fish was not fresh, I've never experienced something like this before which is why it was so off putting. We couldn't eat more than one piece of each so we expressed our concerns to the waitress who ended up taking them away & off our bill, they were very apologetic which was appreciated. I'm not sure if this was just an off day but the experience was truly disappointing.

Love this place . Been here many times . First time trying the bento box. Lots of food and very good. Recommend the mixed sashimi and mixed tempura as choices. Also had a three albacore roll. Service was quick and attentive. One of the orders got messed up but was quickly fixed.

After hearing so much about Yanagi Sushi, I was so excited to try them out but unfortunately, I was left feeling so disappointed with the quality of the food. I first tried their Spicy Shrimp and Crab hand roll, which was absolutely delicious. After that dish, I was so looking forward to the rolls my party had ordered, but when they arrived to our table and we actually started eating them, they had an extremely fishy taste and smell that pretty much ruined my appetite. The servers were so kind and they graciously removed the rolls from our table and our bill, but I was a bit discouraged as I was so excited to have a nice sushi dinner and was left so unsatisfied. The place has a nice vibe and the service is great, but after my first visit, I don't think I will be back.

The food was good, the service was decent, and its an overall nice little spot to go to. It was also clean which is always a plus. I wouldn't call it exceptional but I also wouldn't say it was bad. We ordered an appetizer, three different rolls, a baked roll, and sushi/sashimi. The chicken Karaage was amazing! The Canadian roll was good, it had a nice balance of the jalapeño sauce which added some acidity to the food. The Jessica Alba roll was underwhelming, I was not crazy about it, I felt it lacked body. The Shrimp-trio was also good but lacked freshness. The Volcano roll was good, it sort of tasted like a whopper, it probably had to do with the mayo, but the baked salmon was great. Then, the black snapper sashimi was interesting because it comes with truffle and scallions and although good, lacked a certain freshness I am used to with the sushi. I also had a Sapporo which was crisp. Overall good spot to visit and reasonably priced.

    Delicious

Fresh sushi, great flavors, and excellent service. Everything was delicious, beautifully prepared, and the atmosphere was amazing. Definitely coming back!

Great place I came across as I was thinking about where to eat before watching a movie. Very friendly and attentive staff. I ordered the salmon blue crab truffle, spicy tuna on rice cake, and salmon skin hand roll. You really get such a terrific portion with what you order. I look forward to coming back.

I was fighting a pretty rough hangover, and this bowl honestly brought me back to life. The broth was rich, full of flavor, and the spice level was just right. It had a nice kick without overpowering everything else. The first time I came here, I ordered the chicken karaage. Super crispy, juicy, and easily one of my favorite things on the menu. The restaurant itself is pretty small and cozy, which I liked. One thing to know is that the parking lot entrance is easy to miss if you're driving by on the main street. It's much easier to come in from the little street behind the plaza. If you're in the mood for ramen, I'd absolutely recommend giving Maru a try.

I don't eat pork, but I'm okay with pork broth, so I asked if I could substitute the pork chashu for chicken. What I received instead was popcorn chicken, which was unexpected and not at all what I had in mind. There was no communication that this would be the substitute, which made it even more frustrating. On top of that, I was still charged for it without any clarification beforehand. Transparency goes a long way, especially when making substitutions. Overall, between the lackluster flavor and the confusing substitution, it just didn't feel like a thoughtful or well-executed experience.

For example, the agedashi tofu came with vegetables like zucchini, eggplant, and cauliflower, which is quite unusual and not something I've seen in traditional Japanese preparation. The sashimi also tasted off -- it seemed like very low-quality fish, almost as if it had been frozen for too long. We also ordered a nabeyaki udon for our 2-year-old, knowing it's typically served in a very hot bowl. However, the server attempted to place it directly in front of our child without any hesitation or warning, which felt quite careless and concerning from a safety perspective. Overall, this didn't feel like authentic Japanese cuisine or sushi, but more of an unclear fusion concept. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt it was important to share this experience so others don't come in expecting high-quality or traditional Japanese food.

This is one of the few Mitsuwa that doesn't have a food court (San Gabriel is another one without). The premade food section was surprisingly pretty good, better options than the Torrance or Santa Monica locations, imo. They do carry the same poke bowl that is also sold at Torrance. The store closes at 9:00pm, so the premade food section is pretty much cleared out and the self checkout is closed by around 8:00pm. The late hours actually got the busiest because only one staffed cash register was open and customers had to get in line instead of the self checkout. The store is clean and spacious, lots of self checkouts that are open during the day, and the bathrooms were clean (just need to get the code from a staff member!). I came three times on a weekday, once a little after lunch and another right around 5:30 and then around 8:00. Parking was a breeze every time. They have plenty of parking adjacent to the store. The other side of the shopping center gets a little busy, but Mitsuwa is at the comfortable corner closest to the train tracks. Getting out of the parking lot can be challenging because Tampa is a busy street and some people try to make a left turn out (I have my opinions about that lol). If heading out towards CSUN, the shopping center also has two exits out to Nordhoff so that worked well for me. I was in the area for a few job interviews... If I am hired nearby I'm definitely coming to this Mitsuwa a lot :)
