I note that my last review for Yang's was 7 years ago. We have continued to frequent them and have never had a bad meal. The sushi is our typical purchase but their Chinese is also quite good. Came here to meet up my husband for lunch. They have lunch menu where they offer bento boxes. My Husband and I both have a shellfish allergy so we asked for a substitution in the bento box, and were told there are no substitutions allowed. Which I was shocked to here, I have been to a dozen places with a similar menu and have had no problem. And when I stressed I have allergy if they could make an exception, the waitress very rudely said "no, just order something else". We ended up ordering basil chicken and Mongolian beef.... it was honestly sub par. No reason to waste your money here. Needless to say I won't be coming back here. read more

Yang's Asian Bistro is sincerely my favorite Asian restaurant in the capital region. I order sushi & sashimi for 2 from here all the time, the fish are always fresh and the cuts are thick too compared to other Asian restaurants. All the staff are very nice and friendly, the owner cares about her customers and how they want their food to be made in certain ways. They have wide variety of drink options and amazing mixed cocktails. Mai Thai is my go to when I dine in at Yang's. I have been coming here to eat during the weekend for over a year and I left with a pleasant experience every time I go. read more

Went out with friends and one of us was served a meal with lobster that had clearly gone bad. Apparently the stuff tasted like ammonia. The rest of the food was fine, but I'm not planning to visit this restaurant again. read more

We've been to Yang's many a time, and always had a good experience. On this occasion we started with the chicken and pineapple lettuce wraps and a side of edamame. The lettuce e wraps were incredible. Sweet and tangy, complemented the cool crisp lettuce perfectly. The yaki udon noodles and beef were interesting. They had a smoky rich flavor about them. the beef tender and juicy. I opted for one of the health conscious options, the steamed chicken and green beans. It was served with rice. While it certainly wasn't mind-blowing with flavor, I appreciate that they offer something that's simple and healthy. It would be particularly good for someone hoping to watch the level of salt in their diet. I've also hear good things about the sushi here. ATTENTION: DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH Yes, it has come to that. My friends and I have given Yang's multiple chances to change our minds, but every time we walkout, we are in shock and disbelief with how the "restaurant" is run. Yang's is unsanitary in its practices. We once watched a server clean the mens toilet (she left the door open) and without washing her hands, return to the counter to work. Additionally we have witnessed... Dirty drinking glasses...something always floating in our drinks, Counters and tables are sticky, Servers using the same "rag" for EVERYTHING, Behind the bar, there is a curtain hanging - it grazes the food when the waiters walk through with a plate or platter. ***On a REGULAR BASIS, there are barefooted male workers sleeping in the booths with pillows. This is very concerning. Are the labor laws being followed? The food at Yang's is pretty good, but at what cost? read more

This is our go to spot for higher end Asian food. I personally just love the Tom yum soup. The Hibachi meals are great too, and they are pretty good deal for the amount of food you get. I love it because you can get Thai, Chinese, Japanese. All of them are good. The restaurant is clean and well appointed with decor. Staff is always friendly and overall Yangs is just an enjoyable, consistently good restaurant that you can count on. read more

I'll start off by saying food was good. Probably four stars. Why the three star review? Customer service left much to be desired. Placed an order on mealeo. Was told 45 minutes. When I arrived at 45 minutes no one was at the front desk. I waited five minutes and then called. I was told at that point, "Three minutes". 18 minutes later my food came out. Hands down the best sushi spot in the capital region!! They have a wide variety of menu options with my favorite being their their pad thai, tangerine chicken or shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, Thai red curry and their sushi rolls. I love that they have the option of getting brown rice and I always ask for them to top off all my sushi rolls with mango sauce which tastes so good! This is definitely my go-to sushi spot. They have good service, a beautiful interior and atmosphere, and they even offer lunch specials 7 days out of the week! I highly recommend trying out Yang's if you haven't been there! read more

I have emailed Yangs about my experience now 3 times without ever receiving a reply. So i have no choice but to post it here. I always went to Shogun in Albany or Mr. Wasabi in Schenectady until a family friend told me about your restaurant.  Now I frequent your restaurant and also order take out and tell my friends at Albany Law school.  I placed an order over the phone for 1 naruto roll with house salad and miso soup.  It was $20.20 even though the roll is $11.95 and it says $3.00 for house salad and miso soup.  after picking it up, I drove to school to eat it and study and first was disappointed when there was no spoon in the bag so I could not eat the soup. Then I tried to eat the salad and please see attached photo for the bug that was in it (it was still moving). And most disappointing was my sushi which i have also attached a photo of which came without wasabi OR ginger.  I have never had a sushi roll from you come without the two most necessary and beloved ingredients. I am very disappointed and hope to hear from you and hope this does not happen to anyone else. read more

I just called and asked if they are serving uni. Come to find out the young lady said I was "so annoying " and hung up. Honestly, if you don't know what uni is and you think I am a prank call. Shut your place down and re-train your service staff. I will, however, say I called back a third time and spoke to a manager. I wasn't going to make a fuss to him I understand he was unaware of the situation and he seemed genuinely concerned. I have gone here before and the food was alright and sashimi tasted fresh. I only hope that I will have this story to tell next time someone brings this place up. read more

we haven come here for years and never had and issue. I have never been treated so poorly by my server. The man working dinner today was very rude when he sat us. He couldnt be more distant as a server and when we we're done ordering he snatched the menus out of our hands like we were wasting his time. The only time he was pleasant is when the bill was delivered to the table. We still till tipped him 20% because we have never had a problem. Food was OK. The most aggravating thing about the meal was the sound of a pressure washer cleaning the kitchen, even after we asked if they could stop. The noise echoed throughout the restaurant. Nice Asian fusion of Chinese, Japanese, Thai popular items. A large menu selection of Japanese sushi, hibachi, and bento, but I was looking for Chinese or Thai rice dishes tonight. The pot stickers were light, fresh, hot, and perfectly cooked with a good dipping sauce. I tried the basil fried rice, and even though it was marked as hot and spicy, I didn't think it was that at all and really enjoyed it! Lots to try here and know I'll be back to try more. Per your reply dated 12/14 - we ordered three dishes amounting to $40 so we should have been given at least three complimentary sides of chili oil. If your staff needs rest, please have a back room available for them. Not have them sleeping on customer booths. We are not coming back to your restaurant. We love Asian food and would like you to know that you have lost a customer who orders at least $40-50 worth of Chinese/Thai food every week. We've been getting takeout (and occasionally dining in) for years and the food has been consistently above average, even as recently as early January. Our takeout experience this evening was surprisingly poor. The Hot and Sour Seafood Soup was over-the-top spicy, and the dinner entrees were hampered by very heavy-handed flavoring. My dad and I went for dinner. We always get more than we can finish so he can try new things - and have leftovers - and we ended up with lots left over :-) We had calamari to start, which looked like onion rings - larger than I'm used to, and no tiny whole ones. But they were delicious - cooked perfectly, not like rubber bands. The General Red Snapper was great - like General Gaos, I guess. The coating was very good and the fish was tender and flaky, with a slightly hot, thick red sauce. Chicken with cashews had a very flavorful sauce and contained carrots, tiny pieces of zucchini and a little bit of crisp celery, with lots of very tender chicken and many cashews. Pad thai was good, but we hardly touched it - too much other good stuff! The restaurant has booths on the sides and tables with comfortable, well-padded chairs in the center. Service was quick and attentive. Overall a great place and we'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

Once one of our favorites but no more. A recent visit left each member of our party of four disappointed. Three of us ordered the Hibachi dinner. The plates were full of food: rice, noodles, veggies. It all looked promising except the steak we ordered was so tough we couldn't eat it. Very disappointing and the service was seriously lacking. Wow... I have never been treated so poorly by my server. The young man working lunch today was very unpleasant when he sat us... As if we were not wanted there. He did not interact or speak to us at all, silently took our order, rudely snatched the menus away from us and threw them on the hostess counter, obviously ticked off. That was the last we saw of him. A very nice young girl helped us for the rest of our meal but never asked if we liked our food or if we needed another round of cocktails. They did bring out a birthday dessert for my grandmother, which was great... But the kitchen forgot her meal and she didn't get her meal until the rest of us were about finished eating. Water Review for Yang's (The Squeakuel): remains a solid 4/5. It would take the cake for a 5 but every time it was refilled I would get a hefty serving of ice. I love my water cold, don't get me wrong, but with the sheer absurd amount I drink of it makes having too much ice a hindrance, since the volume of water shrinks with every ice-filled pour. read more

Yangs is one of the best asian cuisine restaurants that I've been to. The prices are also pretty good. I recommend any of the sushi rolls, any of the tempura dishes, and the fried rice. The last time I was here my dish took longer than the other people in my party so one of the workers (maybe the manager not sure) gave me a free dish which was very kind and much appreciated. Overall, I would definitely recommend Yangs. Also, eating in the restaurant is better than take out. read more

We ordered an assortment of Tom Yom seafood soup, edamame, chicken lettuce wraps & Beef Nagimaki appetizers, and an Alaskan Beauty roll. Tom Yom soup - a spicy Thai soup w/ scallop, green point mussel, shrimp & vegetables. Excellent balance of hot & sour. Delicious. $5.95 Steamed edamame - Lightly slated. Perfectly cooked. $4.95 Chicken lettuce wraps - sauteed chicken, chopped pineapple, red & green bell peppers, basil, & red onion. Served w/ iceberg lettuce for wrapping (*would have preferred Boston or Bibb lettuce). Enough for two, took half home. $8.95 Beef Nagimaki - fresh scallion wrapped in tender marinated (soy-based?) beef. Juicy and tasty eight pieces $6.95 Alaska Beauty Roll - king crab, crunch?, cucumber, pureed yellowtail, rice, sliced jalapeno served w/ ponzu sauce, wasabi, & sliced ginger. $14.95 food & presentation were excellent. Lots of attention from the team of waitstaff. A very good value at full price. Excellent value w/ Local Flavor $40 for $20 coupon. Clean & neat. Very well staffed. I got avocado cucumber sushi and yellowtail nigri and I was very impressed with both. I asked for spicy mayo on the side and dipped the sushi in and it was fantastic. The only downfall of this order was the salad. While it was a bigger portion than I'm used to for a house salad at a Japanese restaurant, the dressing was not as good as I have had at other local places. Not pleased at all with dinner tonight- 4 of us, no one else. Easiest item ordered, wonton soup, never came out, had to ask for it. The wontons has a odd taste, almost like a burnt flavor in the meat. Hot green teas was definitely microwaved, and way too long. It was burnt for sure. Other couples mei fun had the meat and vegetables buried in the noodles. This restaurant has definitely gone down hill, the service is terrible. I moved up from SoCal and NYC and needed a yummy place for Thai food and sushi. This place is pretty good compared to several places in the Capital Region.
