The food was delicious. I was going to give this place another start but unfortunately... my plate was dirty. It wasn't washed clean... when I took my finger and rubbed it across the plate, I felt the remains of dried food. I wasn't happy about that, I told the waitress and she didn't even say sorry she just ignored it. Sushi was awesome though. Mala Chicken was spicy and tasty.Hopefully they improve on the sanitary aspect of things. read more

This place gets the job done! If you are look for sushi that isn't the fanciest but satisfies your craving I would check out Yangs. I've had a few of my favorite bites of sushi at Yangs and I would got there for an affordable lunch or dinner any day. The cons are service related: Sometimes I wouldn't receive a refill on my water glass after the first pour after I sat down. This is not for lack of asking (wasabi is spicy ya'll!). This has happened twice to me so now when I sit down to order a drink I ask for a water pitcher. I'm a chugger when I go out to eat and I think it's just annoying to have to ask for every time I want to fill up. The food seems to come out just a liiiiiiitle too slow. I've been there when there was 3 tables filled up and a full house for dinner and the meal both times came out around the same time, after about 35 minutes of ordering. Granted they give you salads and soups (for some sushi orders) so I'm luckily not famished when the food shows up. I do like the affordability factor, I went with 3 people and our meal was less than 50 bucks (no drinks were ordered) and we used the yelp coupon. There's lots of sushi options in Latham/Loudonville area but I would check it out here if you haven't. read more

Great quality sushi at average prices. Service was very attentive and the selection of special rolls on the menu was quite good. I got the Tiger Roll and another special roll (can't remember the name off hand) and the presentation/decoration and food quality was great. The fish was fresh tasting, not too much rice, the rolls were a good size (two special rolls had me stuffed) and they were around $13 a piece which is average. The owner also seemed very nice. My boyfriend came here on a Sunday afternoon and we were the only customers in the restaurant. We were seated at a table and ordered our food which came at a decent pace. However, after we were served the waitress was nowhere to be found when we wanted to check out. We sat there wasting 20 minutes of our time because no one came to check up on us. Finally, the waitress came and gave us our bill and went back behind the restaurant. While the food is good, I am very hesitant to come back here because of the horrendous service. On another note, if you are going through a breakup, avoid this place because the playlist consists of every sad love song you've ever heard. read more

This is my girlfriends favorite place to get sushi in the Capital Region. We have been here several times and we look forward to coming back often. Here are some things worth mentioning about our experiences we have had here: - The first time we went, we decided to roll in on a whim. We were not disappointed. I got the tuna roll and a box of some sort. The only complaint I have is the soup. It tasted 'eh and I was not a huge fan. I believe it was the meso soup. I decided that if I went again I would just substitute a salad. - The second time we went, I went straight sushi. Was not disappointed. - The last time we were there, did the soup and. I got a Tuna roll, Salmon roll and Thai Chicken. Was absolutely delicious! We tend to go there before the usual crowd rolls through, and we request one of those booths on the left as you walk in the door. They are quaint and quiet. Went there tonight for a late dinner. I ordered the duck roll, Hong Kong wonton soup, house salad, sesame chicken and fried rice. Hubby had Filet and Lobster Hibachi with clear soup, house salad, and the accompanying sides. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our server was very helpful and friendly. The soups were good. Do not order from here, worst food ever, we ordered pineapple fried rice and it was just white rice with duck sauce mixed in, two shrimp and three pieces of rubber chicken. The General Tsaos was just chicken chunks mixed in with duck sauce, nothing more, the lomain was decent and so was the crab rangoons. Favorite place to get sushi in the Capital Region. They have so many selections from basic rolls or their signature rolls. Coconut shrimp is by far the best roll. Unfortunately, me and my party had a very poor experience this evening at Yangs restaurant. Things where ok in the beginning but once it was time to get our entrees the food never came. Close to an hour later we never received our food and the waiter never checked on us till the point we were ready to leave. Another person at the table next to us commented about how long it was, and we had not received are food. To make matters worse once we decided to leave the waited acted like he was doing us a favor for allowing us to not pay for the food we never received. Find yourself a better place to go and spend your money. read more

What was once Shanghai Grill now has an Asian-Vermont fusion feel to it. The restaurant very much still retains its Asian feel, while incorporating what seems to me a Vermont log cabin kind of cozy vibe. It's changed what was previously a dimly lit little restaurant into a friendlier, homey place to enjoy a still very good Asian meal. The owner is a really great guy and he's hired a great staff as well. The food is always up to expectations, as well. I personally come in on the weekdays for the lunch specials, where they give you plenty of food at a cheaper price than dinner. Overall excellent Asian food for Latham. read more

I was impressed by everything: the food was pretty and delicious, the room is attractive, the prices were reasonable and the staff could not have been nicer. We sampled a little of everything, so I won't go into details -- it was all very good. The staff was very helpful in describing dishes we weren't familiar with, and surprised us with a couple of things they thought we might enjoy (and they were right!). A very good option for Chinese/Japanese. Very inviting ambience. Pleasant staff. The Chinese menu has all the basics, and the sushi menu is definitely basics plus. Very creative signature rolls and large portions. We started with traditional cold sesame peanut noodles. The sauce was plentiful and perfectly balanced, and the larger udon style noodles were appropriately toothy. My husband enjoyed a large portion of General's chicken. The chicken pieces were larger sized and pleasantly crispy. They were covered in a more sophisticated and light tangy sweet sauce than you normally find in your average Chinese eatery. My guess was hyped up garlic and some five spice. He ate the entire platter full- except for the piece I stole. I had the Two Thumbs Up roll (deserving of both), which was centered on a large and delicious soft shell crab. I also loved the two pieces of white tuna nigiri I had. They seemed very fresh and the sushi rice they rested on was perfectly cooked and had a bit of the traditional vinegar mixed right in. I considered ordering two more pieces because they melted in my mouth. The bill for all that and one craft beer was less than $50. We were very satiated with both the hefty portions and the unique flavors. Staff kept our water glasses filled, and were attentive and helpful through the meal. It was a very nice experience. I used to go to this place back when it was Shanghai which I still very much enjoyed. But Yangs was a blast of fresh excitement. This place looks fantastic and dining inside is a real treat. I love the furniture and decorations as well as the layout. It is a fantastic place to come with a few friends or especially a date - great semi-dim lighting adds for a spectacular date setting - which I totally took advantage of. Lets get to the food. Can't beat it. They have some satisfying sushi choices, which I am a big fan of. I love new and interesting rolls - this place offers that to a T. They have a great selection of specialty rolls. I especially loved the "Siena" roll named after the college down the road of which I attended - bonus points there. lol The rest of their menu is equally impressive and delicious. If you are craving some asian cuisine and never tried Yangs - give them a shot and you won't be disappointed! read more

The sushi at Yang's is very good! Portion size is appropriate and the price is fair. I got the yellowtail scallion roll, and was delighted to see it wasn't diced up, rather big pieces of fish. A comfortable, relaxing Asian restaurant worth returning to and possibly worth returning to regularly. It was Saturday afternoon and as we entered the waitress greeted us and attempted to seat us adjacent to the only occupied table in the restaurant. No thanks. We sat forty feet away and didn't listen to the conversation of the others. The service was indifferent, and disjointed. Not surprising that we couldn't find the waitress twice, since she was in the back for extended periods. My usual experience in nearly empty restaurants. We ordered a chili Thai chicken and a Scallop Mala. The chili Thai was excellent and the Mala was difficult to find the flavor in the sauce. I wouldn't order the Mala again, but the Chili Thai was killer. We ordered a cold saki and a beer, then miso and wonton. In all, truly worthwhile. I'll try the sushi in the future and see how that goes. read more

The salmon sashimi was fresh by the seaweed in my other sushi was stale. The service was super slow. I got there at 7 pm and they weren't even that busy, but it was 45 minutes before I got my two rolls and sashimi order. Then I further made the mistake and ordered Tiramisu, which was still half frozen, ergo not fresh. I know...why would I ever order Tiramisu at an Asian restaurant? It was a rookie mistake. We had an early dinner here tonight. The restaurant is clean, spacious and nicely decorated. There are booths and tables. We ordered the hibachi selections and the red curry which was described on the menu as "evil spicy". My husband loves super spicy did this did not thrill his taste buds. But he still liked the dish. My friend and I met for dinner at Yang's Asian Bistro last night. We had a late dinner and the restaurant maybe had 6 other tables filled up at most. We ordered shumai for an appetizer and two rolls to share: Sweetheart roll and Siena roll. The waitress provided some crispy crackers and duck sauce as an appetizer. The service was very very slow. Granted it was a late dinner, we arrived at 7:15 PM. The shumai was good, there was nothing that stood out from any other shumai at different japanese restaurants. The waitress didn't give us any appetizer plates for the shumai which was weird. It was just awkward dipping the shumai in the sauce and not having an individual plate so we ended kind of unitentionally making a mess with dripping sauce. When we were done the waitress removed the main plate and took our crispy crackers/duck sauce with her even though we weren't finished. Apparently now we were finished. It seemed like the sushi rolls took very long to come out. I said to my friend at one point that perhaps they were catching the fish out back or something to that effect. It just took forever. The rolls were good, again nothing out of this world or memorable. The service was really slow and it didn't seem like it was just our table as I noticed other customers looking for their servers as well. I wanted to try a new spot and I did but next time I think I will stick with the Asian tea house or Shogun. read more

If you want some Thai food look elsewhere. Pad Thai was awful. It was oily and fishy with no other discernible favors. No scallions, no egg, no sprouts, very little peanuts. There was also a rubbery smokey flavored protein of sorts I can only guess was tofu. I also got the schezuan dumplings which were gummy and oily as well. This was my first visit. I was impressed. Service was friendly and timely. The atmosphere was casual but with a little hint of fancy. I had the Pad Thai. I do agree with someone else who mentioned it was a bit greasy and not spicy. The spicy was fixed easily with a little side of hot sauce. I liked the fact that it had the consistency of catsup so you could mix it in little by little. Plenty for the price. I'll eat it again tomorrow with how much I brought home. me and my girlfriends went here for dinner. we were supposed to have a good night out with food and just to enjoy some time together... it is very pretty and elegant inside. the place seemed clean. the food was mediocre it's more of a eh. we ordered hibachi filet mignon i would not recommend when you spend money on a dish like this and you ask for medium rare and rare you receive well done. the rice was not appetizing and the noddles looked very sad like they were drenched in water and hibachi sauce. the only thing that was good about this dinner was the edamame. i recommend spending the money at a place like koto, samurai, or hana... my girlfriends "spicy tuna roll" was not spicy. there are better places to get sushi... given the location of this place you would think it would be more busy.. there were maybe 5 tables at 6:00. the waitress was very hard to understand but it was doable. i didn't have high hopes for the hibachi anyways because it is not a Japanese restaurant but cooking steak is not that hard. read more

The restaurant is located in a strip mall but don't let it fool you from its exterior. Inside the decor is lambent with a twist of modern and the sushi rolls are sans pariel.
