They have a lot of appetizer and snack size plates. Started with the guacamole and chips which was excellent! I had Mexican street tacos. I braved checking this place out on the day it opened. They did an amazing job renovating this space. I couldn't believe how far back the place went. In the back there is a covered patio area, and an additional bar. This will be a great spot when the weather is a little warmer before a Sox game. The centerpiece is a giant bar with tons of taps. The beer list is impressive. The biggest draw for me as a vegetarian is that they have a whole menu based with Gardein products which means I can get a yummy spicy "chicken" sandwich, instead of the same old veggie burger. The food was very good, though it is on the pricey side. About $12 plus for a sandwich. My only complaint is that we wanted to catch some Red Sox spring training and there was some confusion around the TV situation. Definelty will be back after work, and before sox games cause of all the veggie and beer options. read more

Holy men in black wannabes! That was my first initial thought at the front door at the yard house. I never mind having my I'd checked,- working in the industry I know its super important. But this was not a typical ID Check. I give my I'd and the bouncer is fumbling with it like most people normally do because it's not too often people see military ids and I try to help him out and say, the birthdays on the back. He snaps back at me "I know", and promptly flips it over to check the birthday. I'm already in the door, waiting for my friends to get in and a different man in black approaches me and says "you know what's on the front? the expiration date". I was appalled and very uncomfortable. First off, RUDE. I was in no way engaged in conversation with you, and that is just poor customer service. Second, if your bouncer needs that long to realize that the current year is not 2015, then I am not your biggest problem. The server was nice, and the nachos were great. Been here twice. Poor service the second time. Food cold on arrival both times. My second visit here was simply an awful experience. Let's start with the food. The first plate they brought out had burnt chicken. The GM attempted to make this better, and they served a second plate, same dish, with undercooked chicken (raw on the inside). The service was equally bad. Our waitress, Danielle, was super rude and inattentive. We waited 20 mins for her to bring the check after asking for it and another 20 for her to collect it despite our efforts to get her attention, all on a rather slow Tuesday night. She barely made eye contact and forgot to bring a fork with the second plate, which was another 15 min wait. It appeared that she was actively trying to avoid us. I felt really bad for the GM who sincerely tried to make our experience better, but we were so frustrated with our dining experience at that point that we simply left. Save yourself the hassle and dine elsewhere...the decor and the GM is the only pleasant thing at yardhouse. read more

I went on a Wednesday night during the end of a Sox game (9:45ish) and it was pretty dead. When we walked in, the hostess was with a few people (coworkers) and seemed inconvenienced when we walked in and said we were going to sit at the bar. My friend and I sat at the bar and ordered a beer and food. The bartender was nice and friendly at first, but when we took longer than 2 minutes to decide which beer we wanted (umm..the beer menu is huge, isn't that the point of Yard House?), he obviously (incorrectly) concluded we weren't going to be a lucrative tab and quickly turned pushy. I'm pretty sure I detected not one, but two eye rolls. Throughout the rest of our stay, he made the experience unpleasant by being sarcastic and rude in a passive aggressive way. To add insult to injury, the chicken tenders we ordered were overcooked and tasted burned and the fries were lukewarm and you could taste they were fried in the same oil the chicken was fried in. I really just wanted my money back. The only saving grace of the night was an absolutely delicious strawberry beer I had. Could have used a few more to help mitigate the horrible service and just plain bad food. This was my second visit to Yard House. Won't be back. Bad service and bad food. read more

I've been here twice now, once with my husband, and once with a group of about 9 coworkers and I am impressed. The restaurant is expansive, and the outdoor seating area is quite nice. When I ventured out for a girls night with my coworkers, it took a long time for them to seat us (not sure why... there were plenty of tables open) but once we were seated, the night got off to a great start. Our waitress was very friendly and offered to create 9 SEPARATE BILLS for each of us with 18% gratuity added to each. I was so relieved... splitting a tab with that many people, though well-intentioned frequently ends up with a few of us double-paying to make up for others who did not chip in their fair share. What a relief! All of us ordered drinks, I ordered the house honey ale (I think that's what it is called) and it was so delicious I ordered a second. The menu is absolutely huge and has plenty of choices for even the pickiest eaters. The food presentation was clean and thoughtful, and the open-style of this huge restaurant created great ambiance. Might I add the bar in the center is very impressive, I have never seen that many beers on tap before! This is a great standby, and in my opinion a PERFECT place to come with a large group of people. "Hi welcome to Yard House, we have a billion trillion beers." With that many beers, I'm sure I would have found one that fit my taste. However, I don't drink, I was demolished after I remembered this fact. Maybe in another life, but at that moment I had a menu full of amazing food that was certainly more important. Having looked up the happy-hour menu online before I got here, I knew exactly what I was looking for before I got there. Chicken nachos sounded delicious, and my fiancee agreed without any need for convincing. The second choice was hers, interestingly enough, she picked the Bearnaise sliders with onion rings. Bold move my love, bold move. We couldn't finish everything, just way too much food. In fact, we had to bring half the sliders back and decided not to bring back the nachos (leftover nachos are not fun to eat). Guess who's snackin' away at the sliders while I write this review? Epic nachos were epic. Melted cheese all over the place with ample amounts of guacamole and sour cream on top of a bed of fresh chips. They had too many amazing things in the nachos for me to describe them all, just check out a menu for yourself. Besides the fact that it was delicious, it was also epic, epic and humongous. I feel kind of sick right now because I couldn't stop eating the nachos. If you like eating, but don't eat like a 600 lb sumo wrestler, I think this dish could easily fill two by itself. Best part about it? During happy hour its like $6.50. Amazing deal. Bearnaise sliders... well, it sounds exotic but its rather sample. Huge sliders, lots of them. Meat patties on top of fried onions with a very very mild sauce. Still, if you're craving something like a burger, this is well worth it. Again, total came out to $7 with a side of onion rings. Next time you want to watch the Red Sox, check this place out. Well worth it. Seriously, the amount of food you get for the price at happy hour is ridiculous. I've been to Yard House twice. Once to eat and once just to hang out with friends. The service was good -- Tanya was actually really awesome, but I wish I could say more wonderful things about the food. While there were many food options, I feel that burgers are a good benchmark. I had the sliders and they were okay. Nothing to write home about. I couldn't tell the difference between my garlic fries and my neighbor's parmigiana fries. My bf told me about this place, and when I looked up the reviews on Yelp, I was a little nervous about trying it. I ended up going because I was starving and wanted a bite to eat after a movie date. 5 stars alone for the awesome waitress we had (I wish I could remember her name). She went above and beyond to make sure our meals came out in a timely manner and as we wanted them. My bf's truffle fries came out a little late (which was fine because we were chowing down on the rest of our meals), but when we inquired about them, they were rushed out and we were told that for the inconvenience, they were on the house. Our waitress tried to compensate for the late fries in other ways, too, with a free dessert and I truly felt grateful because she really didn't have to do anything at all. I am one who believes the service during a first visit to a restaurant can make all of the difference between a second visit and getting written off completely, and the service I received deserves a second visit. "House" beer is Firestone Walker. That is impressive!.....well that was the case when I previously checked in. not positive who is making it now, but it's still pretty damn good. Updating my tip to a review........ Now there are new owners of the Yard House. Darden Restaurants Inc purchased the Yard House in 2012. They are the owners of Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Long Horn Steakhouse, and Bahama Breeze....just to name a few of my least favorite places on earth all of which happen to all be under their umbrella. Hopefully they position this brand closer to their Capital Grill and Season 52 brands. A little more upscale, and not crying out CHAIN. Nice actually to see that in the past almost 2 years, since the new ownership, little has changed. The location, if you are going to a Red Sox game is hard to beat. It will be crowded, but not as crowded as the places closer to the park. The beer selection is impressive with over 100 drafts to choose from. The food is surprisingly good as well. My favorites are the tacos and the ahi poke. Not your typical pub, nor ballpark food. Impressive. Security here is comprised of soon to be FBI agents. Sunglasses inside in the dark, pressed shirt and likely a black jacket, wired for sound, and everywhere. You will not enter from the back of the building without a pre-screened wristband. If you try, I do believe additional agents will rapel from the rafters and assist in your removal. The service has a number of levels as well. Generally you will have a waitress, who will ask you for your credit card upon ordering. Not sure if they get a lot of dash and dine at their other upscale establishments, but getting a card here immediately is the norm. There are people that are solely hired to circle the tables collecting any empty glassware available. I can only assume that they notoriously run out of dishes and have a slow washing machine with the level of purpose these empty tableware collectors work a room. Unfortunately these folks are not empowered to do anything else - ie: accept a drink order, modify a food order, etc. It is also likely that both your beverage and the food you have ordered will be delivered by yet another person or group of people. I am assuming they cue in the kitchen waiting to deliver. Last tip - upon ordering your second beer, immediately ask for a printed menu with all of the beer selections. The rolling video screens with the lists of beer are very very cool. Love the look. After 2 beers however there is little more annoying. Trying desperately to read thru the list before the screen changes, or you see something absolutely amazing is near impossible.Wanting something new, I have re-read the beer I just finished drinking at least 4 times in a row. Multiple times. All in all, the Yard house is a good place to get a good beer with some slightly better than expected food. If you are going to see the Sox, plan ahead, arrive early. You can stay until the ceremonial first pitch is thrown, and still make it to your seat in time for the first pitch. read more

Came here on Friday night around 10:15 pm. Had front door parking which always makes things great. I expected a wait, being that it was relatively new and it is Friday night. They told us that the wait would be 20-30 minutes. I waited till 11pm and was wondering what was taking so long. Went to the front, they didn't even have me on the waiting list! They didn't bother apologizing or even offering anything for our inconvenience. But gave us a table. We had a booth, there was some stain all over the seat that I was to sit on. I had to ask them to wipe it down and it wasn't even completely wiped down, i had to sit all the way in the corner of the booth. Our waiter was okay, he was very attentive, except at the end when he said he was going to bring the check and he didn't come back for a long time. Food: I ordered the Sirloin, medium rare. It was dry and overcooked. I was starving since I barely ate all day, we had to wait 45 minutes for a table because they forgot about us that I just sucked it up because I wasn't about to wait so long for them to make me one again especially with the terrible experience we were having already. The beer selection was good I must admit and the place is big, it's a type of place I would enjoy to hang out at, but unfortunately the service wasn't that great from the second I walked in. read more

We always come with great expectations because of the food and ambiance but the lately the service has been horrible. On game nights or weekends you can expect slower service but tonight (a Monday evening) it is inexcusable. Our waitress was no where to be seen, and even asking a busboy and the bartender for second drinks they still never came. They were not crowded by any means and several wait staff were lounging at the bar or paired off in twos. We'll give it one more shot, but otherwise this is no longer the "go-to". Do not go here expecting to be able to watch the Patriots game. The TVs are distributed sparsely and if you ask them to change the channel on the one TV you can see, they will refuse. The service is also terrible. It took forever to get our drinks and at least an hour to get our food. And then we received the wrong food order twice. Of course, instead of comping anything, we were just allowed to nibble on the wrong order. Thanks a lot for the food we didn't want in the first place. I will never go back. I came in this past Saturday during the last Bruins pre-season game. It was not bad enough that the Bruins lost but the staff at the bar were rude, condescending and overall not helpful. I have been in to the locations many times and nothing like this not great but tolerable most times but this may have been the straw that broke the camels back? It seems obvious that no one cares over there anymore b/c a note as left with the bill speaking to this issue and no one has cared to reach out ? There are plenty of bars in the area that would like for us to spend our money with them and it looks like that is the direction that we will be heading. Sad but true, customer service can make or break a relationship. No hard feelings Yardhouse. You made this breakup very easy for me. Yard house, my bank account doesn't like you but my stomach does. I can't count the number of times I've been here already, considering it only opened about 2 months ago. It's also a short bus ride away on the LMA soooooo it's also a good happy hour spot for me. The place is huge. Not at all what I was expecting when I first walked in. I later found out that it's the spot Boston billiard's was at, so it makes sense. Ample seating at the bar, in booths, at tables, and on the patio. I love their patio. It's really nice and chill. On those slightly cooler nights they turn on the heat lamps and then it's perfectly comfortable. Mind you if you want to sit outside you need to order food but that's not a problem for me. Ok you're twisting my arm I guess I'll just HAVE to order something to eat with my beer. Obviously this place is known for having a huge beer selection and for serving them in those awkward looking half yard glasses. I can't come here and not order a half yard glass (or maybe sometimes 3. Hence why my bank account is screaming. Oops.) Their drink list is extensive and along with their beers, they have a lot of mixed drinks too. They even have skinny cocktails for the figure conscious. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that they don't list prices. After a couple of beers you're feeling good and might not realize the hefty bill till the next morning. But this just means I need to work on my self control when I come here (I'm losing this battle so far) They have happy hour food specials from 4-6pm which is why I can justify spending more on beer. It's a solid mix of appetizers, sliders and pizzas that you get to choose from. Their menu basically has everything you would want to eat on it. My favorite items are their onion ring tower and the beef sliders. Sad to say I haven't tried a lot of food since I almost always order those two when I go. I have noticed since baseball season started that it's extremely crowded on game days, but that just means you need to get there a little earlier. It's nothing unbearable since it's so big. Never thought I'd see Abita Purple Haze on tap in the Northeast, but Yard House pulled it off... well done. They've also got Anchor Steam draft and whole wheat burger buns, check and check. My fraternity brothers from Miami raved about the one they opened up down in Coral Gables after I graduated. I completely agree with them about this one up in Boston... already one of my new favorite places after one visit. Knocked off one-star because the service was slightly disorganized (waiters bringing food to wrong tables, checks taking a few minutes while they were separating them out, etc.), but it's their first week, so I'm sure they'll work out the kinks. I love you, Yard House! I love you a lot more in the summer when I can sit on your patio and bask in the sun while eating your delicious guacamole. Yep, they have GREAT guac. Yum yum yum. It is like $5 and delicious, why not? And since you have to order food to sit outside, you really have no excuse not to order their guac. you heard it first right here! Also, they have framboise - my favorite lambic. It is a party in my mouth. They also mix it with a double chocolate stout that is great! And they do it with a lighter beer (hefeweizen? I forget) and it is also great. So, I love to come here to drink a lambic and have some guac. Great patio bar and it has heaters for the evening. The place is big with a big bar and a lot of tvs around the bar. It is a young crowed -- college, young professionals, residents, etc. Also, great place to go before or after a Sox game! read more

Yard house is a great addition to Fenway. It offers the perfect environment to have a glass, a pint, or a yard of beer. They have hundreds of different beers on tap. I really enjoy how the menu organizes it... it isn't your typical "location" or "type". They had all the fruity drinks, all the cider drinks together. It really helped me answer "what am i in the mood for". The environment is fun! it is dark.. but the booths are massive. they literally can fit about 15 people at each booth. I was seated at one of these with just one other person. It was a bit intimidating. There are lots of sports TV's, and a great visual of the bar in the midst of the resturaunt. I also really appreciate that the kitchen is open to viewing, so at all times you can see what they are doing. This makes you not so skeptical about where your food comes from. I also love their outdoor seating. It is cozy and the perfect spot to have some drinks before or after a ball game! I also have had good food several times here. Their menu is huge, and everything that I have gotten is full of flavor, fun colors, and hits the spot! Typical bar menu, but many many options. Yes it is a chain- but if you crave good beer, and good bar food- then why not! Espeically for large parties! Based strictly on food and cost, this would be a 2 star review. The quality of service is the only thing earning that third star. Everyone I interacted with, from the door to table service, was friendly and polite. In fact given the volume of the party with which I attended, I'm impressed at how well our servers were able to keep everything together. On an institutional level, however, I'm not even remotely impressed. I know from prior experiences that Yard House can deliver a decent burger, but beyond that I can't deliver much praise. Their menu is large, and their drink menu (One of their highlights) is extensive. The content of the food menu covers a lot of different kinds of cuisine, but excels in none of them. Not looking for a full meal, my girlfriend and I only ordered a pair of cocktails and appetizers. The flat bread was acceptable, but the chicken strips came with more fries than chicken. The cocktails were nice, but I could barely even taste the bourbon in mine (The Old 43). I'm sure this is great for some people, but not for me. I could probably overlook the mediocre food if it weren't for the cost. Our experience cost, including a decent tip, just shy of $50. I wouldn't quite consider that price gouging, but it's not inspiring me to return when there are much, much better alternatives, for much less money. read more

Yes, I went to Yardhouse twice in one day. *hangs head in shame* My boss took us out to a work lunch here, and we abstained from alcohol, so a few coworkers and I came back after work because we just HAD to have a beer (or five). Needless to say, the beer menu is ridiculous, you can get beer in yard glasses (which thankfully we did not), and the food was shockingly good. I got the Ahi Tuna Steak sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. So why 3 stars? Our service at lunch was pretty abysmal. The restaurant was almost empty when we got there, yet somehow it took about 10 minutes for our (non-alcoholic) drinks to come out and about 20 for us to actually order. Then it probably took another 30 for our food to actually come. The servers were nice enough and one of the managers came over to ask my coworker about her allergy to assure her that none of the offending food would touch her plate. But there's just no reason a lunch should take over 1.5 hours at a pub when it's completely dead. They also made a couple of my coworkers move their coats from the booth behind us because it was "about to get busy". The restaurant was possibly half full by the time we left. There's no doubt I'll be back for beers at some point since I work across the street, but this will probably not be a lunch destination if I need to get back within the hour. read more

Number One in an unexpected category! The Basics... If Miller Lite is your favorite beer you may not find this place all that exciting. But if you appreciate exceptional beer and your wallet is burning a hole in your pocket this is your place. True, it is a chain but don't hold that against them, think of it like your dog burying bones in all your neighbor's yards - a stash of consistently good beer throughout the country. The food is very good but the grilled brussel sprout appetizer is responsible for over 50% of my decisions to go to YH. Favorite beer at YH; Golden Draak hands down. Did you know... Of all the men's rooms in Boston and beyond, Yard House's is by far the most enjoyable to visit. This past Saturday during the Bruins game, my group had one of the worst experiences any of us had ever had at a bar/restaurant. A short man in a white shirt with a beard -- presumably a manager -- couldn't have been more rude to our group if he tried. I live in the area and after my joke of an experience on Saturday night I will promise to never go to this establishment again. Food and beer selection is great. Pretty much food for anyone and beer/drinks for anyone. Bartenders are good at recommending stuff but only if you ask for help. Servers on the other hand are slow. Apps came out before my WATER. And she never came back to take my actual dinner order. So the 15 of us left and I ended up ordering pizza on the way home. The apps I had were great. I was a little skeptical because it's called the yard house and read they serve their beer in "yards" and also it's a redsox bar. But i was pleasantly surprised. Nice decor, pretty chill - not overly sports bar -esque, etc. Their beer selection was wicked HUGE ( i love using the word wicked when in Boston)! And fabulous. I ended up getting a smashed pumpkins - which only comes in bomber bottles - and at 9% alcohol I had to share a little. . Everyone seemed pretty happy with the beers that they got - since there was such a HUGE selection. I think i really need to emphasize that!! The food was pretty decent as well - we got the spinach dip app and an ahi tuna app - both were very good and right on the money. I ended up ordering the blackened swordfish street tacos - they were pretty tasty - slightly on the salty side for me. I would definitely go back and check it out again - it was pretty great. I added my name to the waitlist and the lady at the front desk told me because I got there after 30 minutes, the system locked me out therefore I could not get a table. Seriously? First off, it was very difficult to find a parking spot and that is not my fault. I have come here before, and there is always a delay with the food. Please hire better staff. Have you ever met someone and you're like 'wow, this guy and I should be best friends... but something's just not clicking'? Well I have (his name was Tim--we're Facebook friends at least!) and if you convert humans into restaurants, that's kind of where I am with the Yardhouse. I give them four stars for the beer because they're a giant beer bar whose selection is pretty decent and they keep their taps clean which giant beer bars don't always do. And then the menu looks really cool and includes Korean BBQ tacos and other yummy East-West notions that should be right up my alley, but I haven't fallen in love with anything I've ordered yet so I feel like the breadth and ambitiousness of the menu has made them get out ahead of their skis just a bit. Oh and they only have yellow mustard, yet they have a pastrami sandwich on the menu. Someone should be fired for that decision. Anyhow, I would and probably will go back, but it's like my situation with Tim in that we only hang out through a friend in common (Erik)... so like the next time I'm down around Fenway with someone who wants to go get a half a yard of beer we'll probably go there together. This is the second location I have visited, the first one being in Denver. If you like beer choices, then this is the place for you. I find the beer selection a little overwhelming, but if you do your homework and study, you can find the right brew for you. I ended up just having a Harpoon as I didn't feel like thumbing through 3 pages of beer choices. The food was good, but not the best I have ever had. Good pub food (good nachos and onion rings), and the service was real good. We were there on a Friday night around 830, and the server was tip notch. There is always a decent crowd and its good for dinner or just grabbing a drink. In the winter this is a good place to go to watch a game. The menu is huge and you can get asian, mexican, american food etc. The prices are reasonable as well. The bar area is great and - if you like to sit at the bar I would defiantly recommend this place. The beer list is endless and the beer flights are always fun to try some beers you normally wouldn't try. In the summer the outdoor area is great. I'm a So Cal native, and we love our Yard House out on the West Coast! When the billboard popped up a few months ago in Kenmore Square, I thought - it's about damn time that they brought one to Beantown! It's only been open a couple of weeks, but is packed every night! I know some reviewers have dissed the food a bit - I'm willing to chock that up to the fact that it's been open such a short time (according to my chef cousin you should give any new place at least 3 months to get their kitchen in gear). On a recent visit I went with sliders and fries and had absolutely no complaints. One thing that no one's really mentioned yet is the AMAZING outdoor space - two large patios with lots of seating/standing room and large firepits that have actually kept it warm enough to be outside in this quasi-spring weather we've been having. I come here for the happy hour menu only. Otherwise, I don't think it's worth the price for the food offered here. They have a wide selection of beers on tap; seating is spacious. Great place for casual drinks and mediocre expectations for food. - onion ring tower: crunchy on the outside and sufficient onion inside. comes with two sauces. would order again. - traditional chicken wings: ask for sauce on the side (3 sauces available), not so much meat inside, but it is fried and crunchy. - chicken nachos: meh. the nachos get soggy within a few minutes. the proportion of toppings is off. would avoid. read more
