I love Yardhouse for all their happy hour specials. It has a great, lively vibe and tasty dishes considering it's casual dining. What I also love about Yardhouse is their wide menu selection and solid prices because it's a great compromise for groups of all ages and income. This place is something we can always agree on. Mmmmm it took them 30 mins to seat our party of 4, then it took them 10 mins to bring us cups of water and asks what we wanted to drink.. which then took them another twenty mins before they came back to collect our orders. Our dishes were of great size, but they kept changing our waitress/waiter. Also, they never came back to check on us.. until we were able to track them down to get our bill. MEH indeed! one of the best happy hours in town...apps and main dishes are well done and have great presentation. executive chef carlito jocson knows what he's doing. i have noticed a small decrease in quality since it went public. still...if you go at happy hour its a great deal. there's a catch, knowing when happy hour is kinda hard to figure out! sometimes it is, sometimes there isn't....not sure what the schecule is and not sure the servers do either. beer selection is better than average. pastrami slides, street tacos, spinach dip, mood shu eggrolls and garlic noodles are all good. however, the tortillas soup is OUTRAGEOUS! copious amounts of televisions make watching sports easy. great for Sunday football. some servers are great while others are somewhat lacking. read more

Went here tonight and my fiance and I were compelled to write a review based on our waiter Jeff's great service. Everything about the meal was really enjoyable, except my steak was cooked well when I ordered medium. I decided not to mention it because i just didn't feel like being awkward about it and waiting for a new one to come out. When Jeff took our plates away, he came back and said he noticed my steak war overdone and offered to send the manager over. That's a first for me. It just shows the level of service and standards they hold themselves to. We said it would be nice to get the meal half off, but they ended up giving us the steak for free. Last year, we came here for their late-night happy hour once a week. In addition to well drinks, beer, and wine being discounted, they also have a huge list of flavored martinis that are discounted (love these!). In terms of food, their sliders are discounted, and they have a large list of half-price appetizers (pizzas, sushi, lettuce wraps, artichoke dip, etc.) that are pretty tasty as well. I've come here quite a few times now for good drinks and good food. You can't really go wrong here with anything. They have a huge selection of beer on tap and the food is... can't find the words to describe it, but it's more than just food. The other thing I like about it here is the atmosphere. It is pretty hip so you can come and hang out on a night out with friends. The bartenders are really cool and if you come during happy hour, you can get some really good deals... on both food and drinks! This Yard House isn't that bad. Though it is small in size, the service does make up for it. It does tend to get a bit rowdy and loud (plenty of drunk people and plenty of sport watchers), but it doesn't put a damper on the mood whatsoever. Great spot close to several other bars in Costa Mesa. I've always been a big fan of Yard House because they have such a large selection of beers to choose from. And the half yards are pretty sweet. I typically get the Ahi Poke Bowl and their Spicy Tuna Roll, which are both delicious. The only complaint I really ever have is that Yard House is a bit on the pricier side. The food though is great and the beers are awesome. The environment is always really good as well and there are tv's everywhere. Our waiter was extremely helpful and we got everything really quickly. I haven't been to Yard House in years but came with a bachelorette party on a Friday night. We had great service the whole time we were there, which is hard with a big group of girls. Came in on Friday evening with my family to celebrate my graduation. We had Reneé as our server. Even on a jammed packed night, she managed to be attentive and friendly. She was kind, accommodating and made our experience a good one. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is : minus 1/2 for the soup being cold, and minus 1/2 for it being a little difficult for my mom to navigate through the restaurant with her walker. I had a reservation for 630pm for a special occasion and when I got to the restaurant I was told I had a 25-30 min wait time still... usually a reservation is a reserved time slot. I don't know why a guest of the restaurant would still have to wait when they have a reservation. I get it, maybe you're busy and no party has left yet but when I call say you are fully committed for that time slot. I didn't even have a big party only 4 people. My friends and I already had dinner at home, but later on, suddenly decided to go to Yard House for drinks, dessert, and maybe a few appetizers. It was just the four of us. It was a Friday night, so we were expecting it to be busy. We were surprised they had a table for us right away. First of all, we could already tell we were not going to be taken seriously by our waitress when she fount out that we were not going to order actual dinner entrees and such. Right after we ordered our drinks, we requested the dessert menu. Since we weren't ordering entrees, I guess she thought it gave her the right to not check up on us that often. Service: - We had to ask for the dessert menu three times before actually receiving it. First time was with our waitress. She took a long time, so we flagged down someone else. I guess he forgot so we got the attention of another waitress. She was the one who finally got us the dessert menu. Also, this waitress, who wasn't even in charge of our table, was kind enough to take my friend's order (my friend wasn't ready in the beginning and asked for more time; when she was ready, we tried to get the attention of our waitress but she still wasn't checking up on us). - Since we weren't checked up on that much, we constantly had to put our empty water glasses to the side so that they could be refilled because our waitress wouldn't even know that we needed our waters filled until they were placed at the edge of the table. Are we even suppose to be responsible for that? No. - On our second plate of Moo Shu eggrolls (will explain later--my friend shared the plate with everyone at the table), she took the plate with the sauce and salad before I was even done with my portion! And yes, we do eat the salad that it comes with (even if it's considered garnish) not because we're cheap like that but it actually compliments and balances out the flavors of the fried eggroll. I was about to complain when she came and took it, but I decided not to bother. Drinks and Food: - My friend ordered the Moo Shu eggrolls for one key ingredient: the chili cream cheese sauce. She is the biggest fan of cream cheese I know. When she received the dish, she noticed while eating it that it was a bit dry. Upon closer inspection, she realized she didn't taste any cream cheese or chlii! To confirm, she had us each taste a bite and we didn't taste any cream cheese or chili, not even a hint of it. She ended up politely asking the waitress if it was suppose to be like that, the waitress did not know so she took the plate in the back to confirm. The next thing you know, the manager (?), Ryan, came and explained to us how "misleading" the menu can be. Yes, he did use the word "misleading." He mentioned they just saute the chicken in a cream cheese-sriracha sauce. He would give us another order for Moo Shu eggrolls on the house. Lo and behold, the second dish, you could actually taste the cream cheese and sriracha!!! Consistency in quality much? It seems not. As for the ginger plum sauce, it went well with the eggroll being sweet in taste with a hidden punch. - I ordered the Southern Belle as a drink. At first, I thought it was a bit too strong, but that means more for my buck. In the end, I actually enjoyed drinking it, because even though it was strong in alcohol, they actually had fruit chunks within the glass to eat. I would take a sip, then a bite of strawberry/pineapple, to balance the strength of the alcohol. Plus, it was fun being active when it came to drinking. Gave me something to do. ----------------- I have been here during HAPPY HOUR before and in my opinion, an experience at Yard House is only worth it during HAPPY HOUR. Their HAPPY HOUR offers great food for great prices and if you come early, the place is usually empty, which means better service. That is the only reason why I'm giving my score of 3/5. If you're looking for a late night place to hang out for drinks/appetizers/dessert, don't bother coming. I'm pretty sure there are other places with better service and better consistency of food quality. read more

Went here for lunch (during happy hour) and ordered the grilled pastrami and a french onion soup as a little combo and boy oh boy was it delicious! The pastrami was cooked to perfection not too dry and not dripping grease so it was really good. The sandwich bread tasted like they spread some butter on it then grilled it onto the grill and it so it gave it this yummy buttery taste LOL. Anyways, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE their french onion soup here its just so heavenly. I really enjoy coming here just to get that . This was a tedious experience. After waiting half an hour to be seated. My friend and I finally are seated. After another half hour, we get our waiter's attention. Then, he proceeds to ignore us for another 2 hours as we wait for our food. Almost as if he knew the service was shitty and didn't want to hear our complaints. When we actually get our food, it's doused in oil and made me wish I had ordered something more simple like fries. I COME HERE TOO MUCH! Being a lover of a good happy hour this place nails it. You have three pages of beer to choose from & half off of delicious appetizers. Where else can you get a HALF YARD of IPA. I usually order the sliders, sweet potato fries with maple bacon cream dipping sauce, chicken lettuce wraps ..or all three and share it. The environment is always good with great music and lights dimming through the evening. I have never had bad service and yes I frequent this place almost twice a week. Came here for a friends birthday party. this place deserves a 3.5 from me Food: for a smancy fancy place like this i expected a bit more. i myself ordered the full rack of ribs and the sweet potato fries. expecting it to be super delicious and fall off the bone and such i got all excited because i myself love me some ribs. i was a tad bit disappointed when it arrived right in front of me. yes it was fall off the bone consistency but to me fall off the bone is where i can use a spoon and cut each rib apart. and this rack was not up there. the sauce that they used for it was good i will say that but its not that good. there were also two sides that came with it. and those two sides were cream corn and baked beans or something like that. and i don't like either of those. so for the price i payed i would say that it was not worth its money. the sweet potato fries were good though but they were a tad bit soggy/ not as crunchy as i want it to be. i mean they are fries so i was kind of expecting them to be fries consistency but they weren't. when it arrived it seems like it was sitting out a tad too long. the dip or whatever it came with was good. but i suggest don't eat too much of it cause it is pretty sweet. its like a maple syrup infused with something else dip. don't imagine dipping it into maple syrup though cause its nothing like that. you will taste the syrup in it. Service: the service here is pretty good. they did get my drink wrong but its OK. they were very attentive which is a plus. all of our drinks were always refilled as we asked and sometimes without asking too. every so often they would stop by and check on us and ask how we are doing. so that's good Location: i like the location. first time being around here. big place. big parking structure. not too bad. i cant say much about the location since i didn't really pay attention to the surroundings. read more

The Yard House has a special Gardein menu, which is perfect for the vegetarian/vegan crowd. Most of the items on this menu are not vegan, but the chick'n strips are.
