Lemon ricotta pancakes. Short stack (2). SOOOO good!! I used butter only for them.

I was coming from about 17-20 minutes away and selected the waiting list from YELP. As a party of 1, I had a short wait until I was sat. From when I was sat until I got my meal, it was about 40 minutes. The place was packed! I got an iced coffee and had to ask for a refill. All staff was nice, it just took a L O N G time for my food. I grabbed the pics late. (Sorry.) I ordered the lemon ricotta short stack and eggs and bacon on the side. The pancakes? Sooo good. With blueberries on top! The eggs and bacon were cooked as I asked. It was a nice surprise for pancakes like this. They were VERY tasty. The long wait could have been because they forgot to put in my order. But a least it did not disappoint. Not my first time at a Broken Yolk Cafe, but my first time at this location. PS: I am glad I had my fan with me. It was warm. Oh! And they had a balloon artist coming around to tables. (Not mine. ) They were cute.

Overall, the experience was okay. I felt like the menu sounded better than the food tasted. My husband's Sope Benedict was more enjoyable than my Fiesta Burrito. The Sope Benedict, featuring fried sopes filled with shredded beef and topped with poached eggs, homemade ranchero sauce, sliced avocado, fresh salsa, cotija cheese, and sour cream, was flavorful. In contrast, my Fiesta Burrito, which included scrambled eggs with onion, bell pepper, tomato, shredded beef, and cheddar cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla and smothered in homemade salsa verde, had too much cheese and the green salsa was not as expected.

Broken Yolk is such a solid brunch spot in OC. We came in for brunch and everything we ordered was delicious with really generous portions. We got the Tiki Toast, Golden State Benedict, Ranchero Skillet with sunny side eggs, mimosa flights, and a strawberry smoothie. The Tiki Toast was fluffy, sweet. The Golden State Benedict (my fave) was rich and creamy with perfectly cooked eggs and super flavorful. The Ranchero Skillet was super filling. Service was friendly and attentive, food came out quickly, and the overall vibe was really fun and welcoming. There's plenty of seating and parking too. Definitely a spot we'd come back to for brunch again.

After a busy morning of appointments, I decided to go this spot. I got the sope Benedict and it was delicious. Service was great and the mood here is comfy. It reminds me of a spot I'd be if on vacation. It took my worries away for a little bit! The kid meal is worth every bit, fluffy pancake and eggs. I left overly satisfied and had leftovers for the day. Price is budget friendly and don't forget to sign in for rewards!

First time at this location on a Sunday for brunch and happily we didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Our waiter was Alex and he was very friendly and helpful with menu items. The food was very yummy! I had the smoked salmon Benedicts and my friend had the California omelette. Their home style potatoes seemed more like messy hash browns (we had to double check with waiter) but otherwise good. Very happy with experience!

So, I think I'm rating this spot up to a four star based mostly on the coffee... My wife and I met a friend couple here and overall it is a good place to get some good food. I got a Golden State Benedict and it was quite good. I can't say it was great as I'm probably a more traditionalist when it comes to eggs Benedict. This one had avocado with bacon on English muffins, hollandaise sauce and Sriracha which seemed like a good combination and is what drew me in. My wife got lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries. I tried a bite and they were good but again not great. And she did get a couple bites with onion which is not good while eating pancakes. The place is busy and the interior is very loud so if you're going to meet with people ask to be seated outside so you can hear each other. The outside area is nice but the chairs are a heavy metal which makes getting seated and getting up a bit problematic. The service was pretty good and very helpful. We went late morning so I did see some lunch items going past us and the club sandwich as well as the burgers looked quite tasty. The coffee was definitely worthwhile for sure. We both got the messy caramel latte and enjoyed them. We'll go back and try lunch next time.

The prices were good, but the food was bland. I believe I got the avocado toast and it was just too much avocado. It was very messy and needed more seasoning. Bae got the steak and eggs, and it was so lackluster. Steak tasted like sadness and the eggs were overcooked. Hash browns were a little better with some crunch. Crowded spot with good portions, but that's about it. There's better breakfast spots in Costa Mesa for sure. It's a family friendly environment with balloon artists walking around and coloring books available, but if you're looking for a spot with tasty food, I cannot recommend this.

Love coming here. Their blueberry muffins come out nice and warm where the butter just melts right in! They are super yummy. Also their breakfasts are really good. Had the chorizo omelette which was pretty tasty, although was a little sad it did not automatically come with sour cream. However, it does come with a little bit of guacamole on top of it. Enjoyed the home fried potatoes as they had the right balance of crispiness but not too crispy. The iced tea is very refreshing. It comes in a very large cup which is nice compared to some places that come in a tiny cup. I also enjoyed the fact that they did not rush us out the door when we came in 30 minutes before closing. My husband had pancakes and added banana to them and he was surprised by the size of the pancake and really enjoyed it as well as the sausage. I ordered bacon and asked for extra crispy and when it did arrive, it was not crispy so I did have to ask to make it crispier. They did and it was perfect. I enjoyed our server as he did a great job. We will definitely return here. Be sure to join their rewards program so that you can earn discounts and free items. Also, if you come on a weekend, be sure to join their wait-list on the app or website. The place is clean and can get a bit noisy when they are busy. But overall eating here is an enjoyable experience.

Our favorite place to have brunch! The patio is super dog friendly and they're always nice enough to bring us out a water bowl for her! The food and lattes are also always delicious and our server, Sabino was great! Would definitely recommend

A solid, classic breakfast/brunch spot! They don't take reservations, but weekends are always crowded here! Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza's large lot. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is quite extensive, so I can see why it's a great spot for families and groups. They literally offer all-things breakfast related--benedicts, omelets, pancakes, waffles, French toast, crepes, skillets, "South of the Border" dishes, and more. I enjoyed the dishes I tried from the "South of the Border" section of the menu. They do a good Chilaquiles Bowl! It comes with corn tortillas, red or green sauce (you can also ask for both!), jack cheese, two eggs, red onion, cilantro, and sour cream. Very tasty, and the portion size is huge! I also liked their Sope Benedict. This comes with two thick, crispy corn tortillas filled with shredded beef and topped with poached eggs, ranchero sauce, sliced avocado, salsa, cotija cheese, and sour cream. The beef is tender and flavorful. It also comes with a side item. The Hash Skillet is good as well. It comes with homefried potatoes, corned beef hash, onions, and bell peppers. Then it's topped with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, and green onions. There's a lot going on in this skillet, but it works! It's basically all the classic breakfast ingredients throw into one plate. Lastly, I'd recommend the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! I'm usually a savory breakfast person, but it was nice to add on a short stack (2) of pancakes for a little sweetness. The pancakes are quite large, so I would recommend splitting it with someone! They were very fluffy and come with blueberries, a lemon wedge, and are dusted with powdered sugar. Our server also brought us some butter, and there's syrup available on the table.

Patio with anniversary breakfast 'dessert', yum!

Nice outdoor patio! Inside can be kind of loud when it's busy. We had Mom's and Meat Lovers omelettes, both very good. Spinach was super fresh tasting. We mentioned it was our anniversary and our server Sabino brought out a surprise plate of a fresh baked muffin with whipped cream.

Salty Horse is an Experience, & I Understand The Appeal…read more I find myself coming back to Salty Horse for the great ambiance and quality drinks. I came shortly after they opened on a Saturday and they had a line as per usual. It's always a crowd here! But, it feels trendy and charming. They have a seasonal menu and a concrete menu. On my two visits, I ordered the Dessert Glaze with whole milk ($7.50) and the Straight from Kyoto ($7.50) with maple walnut milk. Both drinks I ordered were $7.50 and the price doesn't include tax, so I paid ~$8 in total per drink. They don't add too much ice, so you get a good amount. The Dessert Glaze wasn't very memorable, but I really enjoyed their matcha with the maple walnut milk! The taste was similar to a hazelnut creamer, and the drink wasn't too sweet because their matcha is very strong and full-bodied. My friend ordered the Arnold Palmer, and it was kind of watery so I wouldn't recommend their lemonades. The drinks can take a while depending on how busy they are, but whether you can find a table or sit at the bar, there's usually somewhere to sit. The ambiance here is great, with a bathroom, trendy decor, and a community-feel. It has been hot lately, and they don't run AC, however. So, be mindful of that. We didn't try any food, but it honestly looked amazing. Some cafes make you feel a certain way, and I think Salty Horse has that it factor where you want to come bring your friends for brunch or a quick drink. It's simply a nice place to be. Parking can be tough but it neighbors a residential area, so street parking is available.

Even as the ice melted, it still tasted great, which is rare. The Torrance location was just as good! Parking was easier, the space is bigger, and the service was still super friendly and fast. My husband got the cold brew "Nook way" and finished it in like 10 minutes. He said it tasted like Golden Grahams cereal. Highly recommend both locations and especially the Spanish latte. They have an expansive list of coffee, tea, and lattes with several modifiers to choose from. To accompany your drink the menu provides options of sandwiches, bagels, and a variety of pastries. I had the smoked salmon bagel, featuring delicate slices of salmon layered over cream cheese spread, topped with capers and fresh chives. This is my go to for coffee houses that offer it. The bagel exceeded my expectations and I believe the chive's subtle flavor complemented the smoked salmon really well. For drinks we tried the chai and hot chocolate. The iced chai latte was smooth and not too sweet with a dusting of cinnamon on top, but I would rate it average in taste. The hot chocolate was deliciously velvety and detailed beautifully. I would rate it a five out of five! The difference at this coffee shop is that you can choose from a range of seating arrangements and have an opportunity to support the business by picking up clothing, a bag of coffee or other merchandise. The con for this coffee shop is that the beverages are somewhat undersized relative to the price point. In addition, the customer service experience fell short. We were greeted upon entering, but it was unclear where customers should retrieve their order or whether orders numbers were called out. With that said, those looking for a quiet morning coffee or a cozy place to catch up with friends, this spot can accommodate.

It's been here a while, which as probably helped, and it doesn't fall into that design trap of being overly minimal or whatever. It's warm and inviting, but at the same time, it's not a place I would consistently stay at for my personal taste. I feel like because it's well-established, that's not a problem. They've got plenty of "fun" drinks, which is what they're known for, to me. I often come by for a banana-based drink, whether it be matcha or coffee. I enjoy how they don't take themselves so seriously for a 3rd wave specialty spot. It's easier to get in and get out without having to feel like you're making a decision that you'll be getting judged for, you know? Anyways, the coffee I had was excellent, and it helped me power through my work day. Is there anything else you need?

Stepping in, the cafe has a lot of seating and I can see how it'd be nice to study in. I ordered Kashimiri Chai and the drink was so light and the cardonom really shines through. Their banana pudding is DIVINE, it is on the sweeter side but it's homemade and you fs tell! They also make their syrups in houseee! I tried the House chai but I ended up prefering the Kashimiri Chai! I'll def be coming back for more since the staff kept raving about their coffee. Sarah and Patrick were the sweetest! Service was top tier, so friendly! and they gave me reccomendations based on my taste. I wasn't familiar with the menu and they gently guided me through my questions.

The bathrooms are also exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which always makes a long study session much more comfortable. My only real complaint was the wait time and communication. I ordered a drink and went to sit outside to get some work done. After it took quite a while for my order to come out, a staff member finally came outside to inform me that they had actually run out of yuzu. It felt a little disorganized and off that it took so long just to realize they were out of an ingredient. Despite the awkward ordering delay, the overall environment is excellent. It's a great, clean space to be productive, and I'd definitely give it another chance.

Guys, I buy coffee out every single day, and most days I even make a second cup at home--so when I…read moresay this is some of the BEST coffee, I mean it! You truly can't go wrong with anything here. They know how to dial in their beans and pull the perfect shot, and you can actually taste the quality of the coffee in every drink. I've tried so many of their drinks and have loved them all. I go to a lot of coffee shops, and sometimes places get so caught up in the aesthetic, 100+ syrup flavors, cream tops, and all the extras that the actual coffee gets lost. This place manages to be cool, creative, and unique while still getting the most important part absolutely right..the coffee. And the pastries?! SO good. Made in-house and seriously worth getting with your drink. My favorite the butter croissant and strawberry cream cheese danish. Great location, amazing atmosphere, incredible coffee, and everything is consistently on point. I come here at least four times a month, and it never disappoints. Easily one of the best coffee spots around!

Good for studying and working. What I got: Banana Cloud Matcha $6.95 - 2/5 for me. - although the cream was tasty, it was mostly foam for some reason. Their matcha tasted bitter and watered down. And once the drink is mixed, you will not taste the matcha AT ALL. Service was okay. I saw that the girl who helped the customer before me was really friendly and accomodating. However, the guy who took my order was not really friendly as throughout our interaction he did not smile once, and sounded really bored and lowkey annoyed. Anyway, I would still go back to try their lattes/coffee as I think that's what they are more know for.

Despite being relatively close to two major colleges - OCC and UCI - this place wasn't as crowded as you'd imagine it would be. They serve coffee, matcha, breakfast foods like breakfast burritos, protein bowls, avocado toasts - but I didn't pick anything to eat since I already had lunch. I shared with the barista that it was my first time here, and he asked what type of drink I was looking for. I told him something iced and caffeinated - and he mentioned his favorite was the Honey Cinnamon Latte - which I opted for - iced, with oat milk. Total was $8.50 including tip. My iced Honey Cinnamon Latte was yummy, creamy, and fantastic! With the oat milk substitute, it sorta tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in liquid coffee form. It wasn't overly sweet, definitely had a nice kick to it - love this recommendation by the barista! I checked out the rest of the space and used their restroom to wash my hands - it's really a neat space here. Lots of seating. Lots of space. There's an adjacent room that's connected to the cafe called "Flow Space" - which is utilized for small popups and arts & crafts. Neat spot for smaller community members to showcase their wares. Some of the other reviews mentioned no a/c - which had me worried considering we were having a bit of a heatwave lately - but to my pleasant surprise, A/C was on and cold! It was a great escape from the heat. Free wifi - fast enough for a zoom call if you need to hop into one - my speedtest reported download speeds of 17.5MB/s Restroom is clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking - of course, I stopped by a little after 2pm, so already avoiding the tail end of the lunch rush. Only downside is they close kinda early - 4pm - but open up at 7am. Great spot! Will probably be my go-to considering there's ample workspace, plenty of parking, less crowded than other coffee spots in the immediate area. I'm curious to try their matcha the next time I'm here, as well as possibly their breakfast burritos, since photos for that looks delicious.
