**This is an Updated visit*** I arrived at Yardhouse this time at 11am when they opened. The host was training someone but she was still able to make time to check me in. I got seated in the booth in the corner by Steph and Edison was my Waiter. Mind you, I was the first one seated in his section because I was the only one seated at this time, other than a couple of guys who sat at the bar. I ordered 10pc Crispy Chicken Wings with BBQ sauce and waited about 12 minutes before I got my order. While waiting on my food, there were two other parties that were seated in the same row I was in, so Edison had two other tables to tend to. I was the first to arrive. I do remember the first time I ordered these wings they were dripped in more sauce, but this time, the chef was a little shy haha. I asked Edison if he could either bring me some extra BBQ sauce or have the chef put some more on for me. He gladly agreed and brought me back two cups of BBQ sauce. The wings were actually really crispy and good. I started to notice that Edison wasn't checking on me as often as he was the other two tables that came in after me. He would ask them if they needed more sauce or condiments but not me. I even saw one time as I was eating, he looked right at my table but he quickly looked away again without checking on my table. It got to the point where he checked on the tables (who came after me) without saying anything to me so I had to yell his name across those two tables just to ask for his help. I yelled, "Edison. Edison!! Can you help me??" I mean don't like to yell but I had to speak up. I wanted my to go box and I just wanted to get out of there. This was the third time I've visited this Yardhouse location, but the SECOND time I've been treated differently by these waiters. I don't like to play the "racist card" but in these SAME two instances, I was treated much much more poorly than my white counterparts at this Yardhouse in particular. Even have under 700 calorie menu. Other than drafts, they have coke fountain products include Dr. pepper. Female waitress was helpful on answering questions/concerns and offer some recommendations. Order the fried calamari, onion ring tower and Korean ribeye Fried calamari is fried to perfection so it's not too oily nor greasy. Onion ring tower is must have and it's not too oily nor greasy as well. Let's talk about the Korean ribeye. Not only it's the most expensive item ($44) but it's the biggest oz on the menu (20 oz to be exact). Ask medium-rare and it blows your mind. They have regular 20oz ribeye but instead of friends...it's garnish with mashed potatoes and asparagus I believe and it's like $3 cheaper. Overall, very good. Stopped at the Irvine location before going to the movies later. We just enjoyed all the great food choices on the menu. I had my usual Poke Nachos and Garlic Shiitake mushrooms, my nieces and husband had sandwiches and the ahi tuna salad. I tried their new Orange Yardtini and it was delicious! This place is great, good vibe, food is not to bad and the service is good. My complaint is the condition of the bathroom. There was trash everywhere and every stall. Some had no toilet paper and it was only 8pm. Clearly nobody is doing the rounds to replenish the bathrooms and clean up the mess. However, I do have to share that my experience here was unfortunately one of the worst that I have had in years, mostly due to the service :// I came here with my parents and some of my extended family, including a toddler. From the get go, the waiters were extremely dismissive when we got into the restaurant - they rolled their eyes when we tried to get someone to serve us, and when we ordered mostly plates to share, our waiter seemed quite angry and asked us "that's it?" The food we ordered (particularly the shiitake garlic noodles and calamari) was also consistently cold and subpar. When our waiter brought them out they all but threw the plates down in front of the toddler in our group, which could have been dangerous. I have had good experiences here in the past, but this was not one of them. I do not know what happened this time when we went, but I truly hope it was a one off! read more

Stopped by for lunch. It's located inside the Irvine Spectrum Mall. Not very convenient unless you are at the mall shopping! Parking in the structure sucks. As always a GREAT selection of beers on tap and the appetizers are all amazing. But the entrees we tried are mid level. Parmesan truffle fries are a MUST, onion ring tower is MUST #2 (ask for a side of ranch). But they brought us a side of fries instead of the tower & charged us for a tower. Vodka chicken pasta with fettuccine is okay. Jambalaya with fettuccine was okay too. Didn't expect Michelin status pasta but still below my expectations. It wasn't bad, but nothing necessarily stood out to me as particularly amazing. It was just one of your usual casual dining spots. For food, we ordered the fried cheese curds, poke nachos, and fried calamari. I also got the strawberry mule and my boyfriend got 2 pints of beer. The poke nachos were still my favorite, but I feel like there should be more fish. The cheese curds were also good, though I wish they were a bit warmer (they came out room temp). We came here for their happy hour (Monday through Friday 3pm-6pm) which includes half off appetizers, $2 off cocktails, wine, and, beer, and $4 off half yards. They also have a late night happy hour (Sunday through Wednesday 10pm-close) that only includes drink specials. I recommend making reservations for big parties. If you have a smaller party it might be a little wait but you can take your chances at the bar tops. We were fortunately to grab two chairs at the bar right before happy hour ended. We ordered the poke nachos, cheese curds, boneless wings, carnivore pizza, and parm truffle fries. The poke nachos were good with a balance of sweet and spicy. The cheese curds were crispy with good dipping sauces. We got the boneless wings with Korean chili garlic sauce which were good. The carnivore pizza was meaty and filling. The parm truffle fries were just okay. For drinks we got the grapefruit paloma and espresso martini which were decent. It's a good place to hang out with friends and family and you'll often find large groups here. However, when it's super packed it might be hard to flag down servers and bartenders. There are TVs throughout the restaurant which makes for a good place to watch sports games. The happy hour deals were really good but I wouldn't pay full price for them. read more

Warning: Don't rely on Yard House at the Irvine Spectrum for a large group. Our kids' soccer team was hoping to enjoy lunch together between games, so I called ahead to reserve space for a group of 25. I was told they don't take reservations, but that they would begin setting up for our large party. When we arrived, the manager informed us they could not accommodate large parties because of the World Cup. While that's completely understandable, the disappointing part was the lack of communication between management and staff. Had we been given accurate information when we called, we would have made other arrangements and avoided wasting valuable time between games. Thankfully, another restaurant was able to accommodate our entire group without any issues, and we were happy to give them our business instead. This is actually the first negative restaurant review I have ever written. I usually avoid leaving bad reviews because I understand that service can be stressful and busy at times, and everyone can have an off day. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing enough that I feel it needs to be shared. The service from our server, Kimberly , was extremely poor from start to finish. Our water was never proactively refilled, and whenever we asked for water, she acted like she did not want to provide it and showed clear reluctance and frustration. What made the experience worse was the overall unprofessional behavior. While we were still eating, she attempted to remove plates we were actively using. She also threw a used napkin from another table onto a plate she was taking from our table, which was completely inappropriate and unhygienic. Throughout the interaction, she continued making rude facial expressions and seemed irritated whenever we requested anything. When we asked to speak with a manager about the situation, we were told the manager was "not available" and would not come speak with us. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had, not because of the food, but because of the service and lack of professionalism. read more

We had not been to the Yard House at the Spectrum for several years, but when our friends suggested meeting there for Happy Hour, we agreed to give it a try. We arrived at 5:00 and told the hostess we were there for Happy Hour. Unlike some other restaurants, they said we could sit anywhere--not just in the bar area. We were seated right away. Even though the restaurant was much bigger than we remembered, it was already full, with only a few open booths. Our waiter greeted us promptly and remained attentive and helpful throughout our visit without ever being annoying. We thought we knew what we wanted to order until we saw the chicken nachos at the booth next to us. The serving was huge, so we asked whether it was the appetizer portion, which was 50% off, or an entrée. Our waiter explained that it was an appetizer and part of the Happy Hour pricing. The restaurant does not reduce the portion size just because the price is discounted. We ordered the nachos, and they were delicious. Our friends had the sashimi and chicken lettuce wraps, and everyone enjoyed their food. We will definitely be back. read more

TLDR: We hadn't been to this location before, but we were blown away by the food and the service. My +1 and I were given a gift card, so we decided to make an evening of it and enjoy the Spectrum. The place is easy to find, and there's a parking garage nearby. Actually, there are two - one you have to pay for, and one you don't. We preferred the latter. There was plenty of parking available. We had reservations and we were seated promptly. The Yard House is like an upscale sports bar, so it's a bit loud, but we were still able to have conversation. We were greeted in short order by Jess, who was an absolute gem of a server. She gave great advice when we asked, came around just enough, and made sure we enjoyed ourselves. We started off with an app, the blackened ahi sashimi. It was amazing. It was seared on the outside with a black pepper crust but the rest was delicate and tender. The blend of textures was wonderful. My +1 liked it so much she ordered the sandwich, which was more of the same goodness, and garlic truffle fries to go with it. We could eat those forever. I decided to try the Korean BBQ tacos. I was a little skeptical of the fusion, but felt daring. I was glad I took the risk. The beef was perfectly seasoned and the onions and other garnish really brought all the flavors together. I also ordered a side Caesar salad to go with it, which was also good. It also needs to be said, they have an extensive drink menu and we both indulged. I loved the both passion fruit sour I ordered first, and the cherry chocolate stout I had for dessert. When it came to paying our tab, we tried using the tablet on the table. It took the gift card balance, and then the remainder on a card with no problem. Had a family get together here. We all had great food. The tuna stack was so good. The onion rings needed to be cooked way longer but other than that, it was all fantastic. From the chicken lettuce cups to the chicken strips with ranch which were so crunchy on the outside yet moist inside. The pasta was nice, our service was great. Huge restaurant and very large bar. One star because the air conditioning was working and the water was wet. My first time back to a Yard House in 10 years... and I was reminded why I don't come here. Food was blah. The appetizer vegetables were wilted and clearly not fresh. The side salad greens looked like they'd seen better days. The burgers were passable but nothing special, which was about the only bright spot of the meal. The service was slow throughout our experience. Our server seemed disinterested and gave the impression they'd rather be anywhere else. We were only checked on once during the entire visit, which left us feeling neglected. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive. When it came time to pay, we were left to figure out the table kiosk system on our own with zero explanation of what the device even was. After finishing eating and waiting for at least 10 minutes with no sever in sight, we touched the screen on the table kiosk as it played ads and figured out on our own this is how we pay. We paid our bill and our party of six left the restaurant without a single acknowledgement by staff including the "hosts" at the front. Overall, this experience was a real letdown. Between the lackluster service and questionable food freshness, I can't recommend this location. read more
