I came at night thinking appetizers were half off only to find out it's only drinks. Places like hooters with their happy hour is drinks and food not one or the other. I know ur going to say well if u don't like it why not go to hooter instead. Well I did. If you had happy hour on separate times why would you have them both on the same page? It's so confusing. Another instance where I experienced awesome service only to encounter not so great food. I ended up here on a Friday night with friends. We see each other regularly but we hadn't dined out together in years so it was sort of like a reunion of sorts. Anyway, typical wait for a place on a Friday night. And great, friendly service as one would hope to expect from a chain restaurant. If I was rating this place on the service alone, it would definitely have been five stars. However, I can't say the same for the food. One would think that because the Yard House is a chain, that there would be some consistency because the menu items are the same. I take some of the blame because who in their right mind, orders steak and expects it to be 'steakhouse' good. I did and was - only to be reminded that I wasn't sitting in one of those restaurants and I 'got what I paid for'. The rib eye wasn't cooked like I requested. The steak lacked decent flavor and if not for the vegetables (mash and beans), that I actually liked, I would have asked the server to take it back. We also shared an Ahi appetizer and one of my friend's comments was that it seemed like the Ahi portions were equivalent to a couple of minnows. We all did like the lobster, crab artichoke dip. Decided to try something new for dinner with the family ... not happy about that. Beer selection was fantastic and they let you sample a beer before ordering. We had 2 different wheat beers that we hadn't had before and they were good. The food was not so impressive. We took the recommendation of our waiting into consideration before ordering and nothing we got was even remotely as delicious as the beer. The medium-well Rib Eye was still moving and loaded with fat; I'd say a third of the steak was fat and non-edible. Tried the featured Lobster Garlic Noodle and it was too sweet, had no texture, and it seemed to use the wrong type of pasta. A real hit or miss. Service is usually spotty as they get so full, it is hard to have descent service, usually you just sit and wait. Best is to go when they open, best service and no wait. The menu also all over the place, some items are good, others really lacking. I love the ahi and the onion rings, my husband usually goes with a burger. I love this place. We drink and dine here about once a month usually on Sundays for a late lunch. For me, the main attraction is the beers on tap as the main dish. Then I order some "side" dish, like Bernaise sliders ($11), chicken-bacon mac and cheese ($15), a large beef dip sandwhich, one of their pizzas ($11), or various appetizers. We each order a different item and sample them all. Since they've opened, I've usually ordered one of the two available six pack samplers ($8). I stopped counting the number of beers I've tried from all over the world years ago. If you like beer, you know that cans are ok, bottle are better, but nothing beats cold beer on tap. I have some favorites but I like them all. To me, beer and food need to match, like wine and food. Each beer has a style and personality of its own, and refresh and delight the senses in their own way. That's not to take away from the great tasting food. Most all of it that I've treid has been good to excellent. Presentation is amazing as well. For example, the Thai Chicken salad has sliced red cabbage, green cabbage, carrots, green onions sliced unifromally, and shaped into a mound and symmetrically decorated with white chicken pieces on the side. You can get a similar ahi tuna salad, or other salads. Their steaks and fish dishes are awesome, although someone pricey (most are over $20 and more). The place is often very crowded and loud, like today. With all the NFL teams playing, there were one or two screens for each of the three games being broadcast. People wearing t-shirts of their favorite teams can be heard in this loud hallway clear across the floor. Some have lost all inhibitions and start dancing, screaming, and obviously having a great time. There are lots of loud and sometimes crying little kids, but it can be so loud, you can't hear them through the noise. If you want a romatnic quiet spot, this ain't for you. I once worked for a company that had their liability and fire insurance. They were a great client (I no longer work for that company). Everything they do is first rate. This particular location is one of their training sites and a test kitchen when they want to introduce new items, they try it here. There are awesome deals during Happy Hours Monday through Friday 3 PM - 6 PM and 10 PM - Midnight when pizzas are about $3 less and other specials prices. Ah, the Yard House. I first visited one of these locations while I was living in Long Beach and reluctantly dragged to some party. All I remember from that night was the dark undertones, the atmosphere, and all the wonderful yummy beer on tap. I'm not much of a beer drinker but considering the vast selection, there's something for everyone here. The Yard House changed the way I viewed bars in general. The happy hour deal is probably the best. There's a great limited menu and I've tried a few of the items. However I don't suggest sitting at the bar unless you don't want to hear what your friend, date, etc is saying. Dining at a booth or table is the best way to hang out here. I've shut the place down with a few friends on many occasions. I like their framboise, pear ciders, house hefe, and the Guinness mixed with other beers because Guinness straight is just plain too wacky for me. The full menu is awesome. They now have awesome options for vegetarians. I've tried the margharita pizza and the chicken sandwich. Hubby claimed he needed a beer so we decided to check out Yard House after a quick and convenient search on Yelp told us they had beers on tap. This was our first visit to a Yard House. It's a modern American pub with a bar area and plenty of table/booth seating. I really liked their interior, sorta industrial chic, but we sat out on the patio because we had Bitsy with us. NOTE: Yard House does not allow dogs on the actual patio. You have to tie them to the outside of it. It was fine for us cause we chose a table right next to where she was tied and it was shady and ok. After studying their menu, we realized we were kinda starving so hubby ordered some Firecracker boneless wings off the happy hour menu for about 6 bucks (a decent helping of them) and I had the Classic Cheese burger with fries, for about 13 bucks. The HH menu is rather limited and I didn't see any burgers on it, and that's definitely my go-to at these places. The food was really good. As mentioned before the portion of wings we got were good considering they only cost 6 bucks. The firecracker sauce is an Asian sweet flavor, not spicy. I think I'd have preferred them the traditional way with buffalo sauce. The burger was delicious with an aioli sauce. The skinny fries were perfect with their house ranch. Love this location in the Irvine Spectrum. Their Happy Hour deals run late and they are open for late night (most nights) from 10pm-2am. There also always seems to be a crowd/house throughout all of the hours, which makes it feel as if you are not the only one in the restaurant. I especially love the half-priced appetizers during happy hour. The chicken garlic noodles are hawaiian poke stack are my favorites! The serving size of the chicken nachos/fries are huuuge and enough to split between 3-4+ people. And for just half the original cost? Steeeaaal! (Though don't order any of the "rolls", not worth it and is mostly just a piece of reinvented sushi mash.) The place is big and has a nice ambiance to get a few drinks with friends and casually talk and eat as well. The service is also friendly and courteous and they are always ready to help you out if needed. Their alcoholic drinks are yummy. HUGE beer selection and tasty beer cocktails (that Sunburn!). Of course, this is still Yard House and it is a chain restaurant, so the food isn't the best, the highest of quality or really innovative. This Yardhouse is very inconsistent with to-go orders. One out of five times it's great, but usually it's way off the mark. Tonight was awful! One of my families favorites is their "Spicy" Thai Chicken Pizza. The magic is in the sauce. So since we're with my daughter in the hospital we get a lot of to-go foods. We picked up two pizzas and salads. The pizza was so dry and tasteless! It barely had any sauce on it! Were they short on sauce on Valentines Day weekend?! I generously gave them two stars for having the order ready quickly and for the freshness of the lettuce salads. But we were very disappointed. Check your to-go orders! My office went here for a belated Administrative Assistant Day. We ordered appetizers - chicken lettuce wraps and a huge pretzel. I didn't taste the chicken wraps but the pretzel was really good--like a giant mall pretzel. I'm just going to talk about what I ordered--my poke nachos--because they were SO delicious and a generous portion. Everything was fresh and spicy and perfect in that dish. After that, we passed around desserts--creme brulee cheesecake, chocolate cake and, my favorite, the brownie dessert (I forgot the actual name). The service was good as well. The 3 star rating is only due to the fact that everyone else in the office got sick from something they ate, from having mild stomach aches to full on food poisoning. Located in the spectrum center, Yard House was easy to spot. My Uber driver dropped me right in front of the restaurant with a breeze. Truthfully, this was not my first choice, but this place always had good selection of beer no matter which location it is. Service: The service was average. We had minimum interaction with our waitress. My beer was a bit late arriving at our table while the rest of our groups got their drinks at the same time. Food and Drink: Speaking of beer, I had the Hangar 24 orange beer brewed by the local brewery. It was pretty decent, and I ended up having 2 of them. My dinner was Vampire Tacos -- carnitas, guacamole, chorizos, cilantro, cheese, etc. I opted for 2 tacos plus rice and beans. I enjoyed the dish especially on the rice and the guac that topped the tacos. That taco plate and two beers were enough for me. There was no need for dessert. Ambiance: It was dark as heck. I had to use my iPhone light to read the menu. The booth though was huge. The four of us had plenty of room to spare. Overall rating is 3.5 stars, but I rounded up due to Yelp! whole number rating. The only ding may be the service portion. Even that, I didn't think it was horrible service by no mean. The food was decent. The beer was great. I was happy with my dinner. Can't go wrong with Yard House. They offer a wide selection of beers on tap as well as imported beers, the cocktails are also strong with decent presentation, and the quality of food is always guaranteed. I came here last weekend with some friends and Yard House has never fall below expectations. Typically I'd order the Poke Nachos to share but this time we ordered the Chicken Nachos which was more than abundant! The chicken breast was cooked to perfection yet still juicy; they're not stingy with the quac either. In comparison to the poke nachos regarding quantity, Chicken Nachos definitely serves more people. The drinks are strong. I ordered the Long Beach Tea, which is basically your Long Island Ice Tea, but Long Beach inspired. The drink actually looks really well crafted. It's pink on the bottom and clear on the top. You can barely taste the alcohol too! But don't let that fool you, you WILL feel the buzz. Mark my words. Erika was our server and she was professional and efficient. She came to checkup on our table twice or three times, made some great suggestions, and instructed us to use the automated system for payment. The only reason why I wouldn't rate it a full 5/5 is because the entrée menu can be improved. I've ordered everything on the menu at least once or twice now.. some new additions would be nice. The staff at this location is always on their toes. However, I don't recommend sitting at the bar because it's difficult to hear one another and the service seems slower when seated in the bar area. I suggest ordering anything from the full bar - the bartenders are great and well experienced from what I can tell. As with any Yard House location, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I finished every single bite of the Tofu Lettuce Wraps (which is of course the veggie version of the Chicken Lettuce Wraps). I'm happy that the menu has healthy options for conscious eaters. Whether you order entrees or appetizers to share, this is a good place to unwind, especially this location at the Irvine Spectrum. It appears to get crowded on Thurs-Sat nights. The wait isn't that long on these nights, but service for food and drinks takes much longer. Come here - just come on a non-busy day or hour - definitely worth a visit. read more

The other 2 dishes weren't anything fantastic. Overall, I feel like we paid too high of a price for a mediocre bill. i've never been one to leave a bad review because i'm also in the service industry. ive been a waitress for 16+years and take pride in hospitality. my best friend and I made our way up to irvine after failing to find a spot for late night food and a drink. shes a mom and needed a night out. everything closes before or at 9 on a monday. yard house said open until 12. we got there at 930pm . we sat at the bar there was about 4 servers working the bar which seemed plenty for how many people were there. they seemed busy but only doing bar things like cleaning glassware and restocking. we asked for a reccomendation for an ipa and the bartender recomended Alpine IPA we asked for a taster and he poured us a taste . we both loved it . waited a while and had to call over a bartender to ask if we can order a beer. I first noticed it was odd the guy who reccomended the beer, never checked back in to see how we liked it. mind you multiple bartenders walked by and no one had checked in to see what we wanted to order. after we called over the second bartender we placed an order with him after we enjoyed the beer for a bit (we had to flag him back over to order food) we ordered nachos they were just ok. no one ever checked if we liked our food , if we wanted another beer, or anything else. we had to flag someone down the 3rd time to ask for water and the bill. we still tipped as if we had decent service because I always like to give the benefit of the doubt but either all 4 bartenders are burnt out and checked out at 9:30 cuz of corporate management isssues or yardhouse needs to hire better employees who have the customers best interest. major bummer. read more

YARDHOUSE! If you are a beer drinker step a way from the Bud Light and go to Yardhouse! Here you will see a classy, but affordable restaurant with close to a 100 beers on tap. You can order beers in any size from pint to Half Yard. The food is far superior to standard bar cuisine. My favorite dishes are the New York Steak sandwich and the French Dip. The Steak sandwich comes with sweet potato fries, but if you don't like sweet potato I like to substitute with garlic fries sometimes. The french dip also very delicious, very tender and juicy. The best feature I enjoy about Yardhouse is catching a football or other sporting event. There are multiple LCD TV screens all around the restaurant. If you happen to be the only person that wants to watch a certain game, you can ask your server to change to any game, probably any network. So bring a group of friends and enjoy! Cheers read more

Their happy hour menu beats most places and they have a great variety of beer. I'm a bigger fan of their food. The quality of the food improved a lot here, I was very surprised. Tuna tartar was fresh, perfectly cut and seasoned, loved the duck wings, very different than the typical wings. Food: 4/5 The strawberry lemonade was perfect. Not overly sweet. The chicken nachos were HUGE and easily the best nachos I've ever had, anywhere. It really is "loaded" with chips, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, chives, cilantro, and beans. I try to have a vegetarian meal as often as I can. The Beyond burger is a new option at Yard House and they have a gluten free bun available. The burger was a little over-charred (black grill lines), but had all the right flavors. The bun was surprisingly soft, but just a little too small for the beyond patty. Fries were yummy. Service: 4/5 Our server was friendly and attentive. Everyone's meals came out correctly. I didn't go with any expectations and was so pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food and beer here. As the hostess led us to our table past the bar, I was amazed by the amount of beers they had on tap. We knew we had to order a beer (or two). We asked our server Jonathon which beer he recommends in terms of dark beers and he gave us a selection. We went with the 'chocolate' since it sounded interesting. Hubby and I shared a pint because we weren't sure if we'd like it or not. Our ahi poke stack arrived almost immediately after we'd placed our order. I was just floored! I'd never experienced service this fast before. Jonathon hadn't even brought our chopsticks or shoyu yet! By the time he came with them, we'd finished the beer and were half way through the poke which by the way was REALLY good in flavor, but had some stringy bits in the ahi. I must say, the poke here is better than the Roy's in San Francisco, much more authentic! Lil guy had the hotdog which also tasted more like a grownup hotdog than a kid's hotdog. I made him have fruit instead of french fries and this is an option (along with many others) you can choose from -- impressive! Hubby and I decided to split the mac & cheese and a cobb salad. The mac & cheese isn't anything like the kiddie style mac & cheese and do you know how we knew? Lil guy HATES regular mac & cheese, but LOVED this one. It had bits of bacon and mushrooms and was served using penne rather than elbow. Two thumbs up for this mac & cheese -- probably as good as the one I make! The cobb salad was also tasty with ample amounts of bacon, blue cheese and a quarter sliced avocado. All in all the food was better than I'd expected for a chain restaurant, but what really took my breath away was the beer selection. Hubby had a sampler of the chocolate with some raspberry liqueur which Jonathon suggested 'tastes like a raspberry truffle'. Hubby was all over that. I don't like fruit mixed with chocolate so it didn't do anything for me. Total including tip came to a little over $60. Portions were good and service was excellent! Restaurant was a tad too loud, but then again, if you wanted somewhere quiet, you wouldn't go to a chain restaurant!
