Consistently good food. Fried Wisconsin cheese curds are very good. They used to have mushroom lettuce wraps on their menu, but no longer have them which is a disappointment for vegetarians since there aren't a ton of vegetarian options. Halibut was very good as were fish and chips. Would go back, but would go more often if they had more vegetarian options. It is pricey so wouldn't go there very often for that reason. read more

I love the food at Yardhouse, and for the most part they have had great service. I do come often though and I have had some instances with some not so great service as well. For instance, waiting 45 mins for food when we were 2 of 9 people in the entire restaurant late at night during the week, then being poured a drink in a glass with a chipped lip and cutting my lip on it, or getting a completely burnt hard steak when I asked for it to be cooked medium rare. I'm not one to ask for a manager or complain so I just take what I get... I just hate not knowing whether my date and I will have good service or not every time. Considering its almost $80 a dinner for us we have started to branch out to the other restaurants located there in the village more often to make sure we have the kind of night with the service we want. More often than not, YH does do a good job and I will continue to come back because in general the environment, food quality, and service is above standard. I just wish it was a little more consistent for being an upscale bar (hence the 3 stars). Side note: If your bringing a group, expect to wait 45+ mins for a table during an even somewhat busy time of day, as you would for any upscale restaurant. read more

Our first visit was very nice. We sat at the bar, I had a bourbon sour, and the Thai chicken pizza. The drink was very good. The pizza was really big and very good. I think next time we would share something. Their portions seem quite large, plenty to share. Cant wait to go again. read more

Once the newness wears off, I highly doubt this place will do very well.. Which is unfortunate, considering I love the idea of taps galore and funky fusion food. My take: 1.) Prices. How on earth did the Yard House upper management staff decide that Meridian, ID can support a restaurant with $10.50 Martinis and $7.00 pints of beer? Seriously, I'd like to know how that discussion went in development meetings. Those prices are what I would expect back home in Boston. This is Idaho, people. Even if you don't order alcoholic drinks, the price of the food is a bit steep for what you get.. My friends and I ordered burgers, appetizers, tacos, and a seafood entree. The burger (which, granted, had lobster on it) was on the smaller side and $15. Each street taco (the ones that are $2 at On The Border on Tuesdays) were between $4-6. Each. $12.55 for 2 Korean beef street tacos (think mini tacos), a cup of flavorless beans, and a small mound of Spanish rice.. Make sure you download the PDF menu online before you go so you can check the full price list out and know what to expect. 2.) Service. Party of 4, Sunday at 5:00, was told by hostess staff there was a 15-20 minute wait. We waited between 40-45. The bar was packed tight with couples and families with babies and small children despite multiple signs stating "no one under 21" so we couldn't even find room to buy a $7 beer or $10 cocktail. Once we were seated, it took over 10 minutes to receive drinks from the bar, and our server was stretched way too thin.. You have bar runners and food runners, but the lead server staff looked (when we saw them) crazed. I agree with a previous reviewer remarking on white shirt management staff meandering around without much purpose.. We ordered our meals as soon as our server came back to our table after her initial greeting and still waited a half hour for our appetizers, then the dinners came 5 minutes after that.. We didn't have enough room in the table for everything. Not once did our server acknowledge our wait on anything. I've worked in upscale restaurants.. It's common to apologize and acknowledge abnormally long wait times on drinks, food, etc. or if there's a rush on the line and food isn't spaced correctly. 3.) Ambience. There isn't any. It's loud, it's crazy busy, and there are food runners and bar staff constantly approaching the wrong table trying to dump someone else's food or drink. This occurred 4 times in the hour we were seated. What's with that? Train your staff on the table numbers. I really was looking forward to a cool new place to eat, drink, and meet up with friends, yet another chain disappoints. I'd rather hit up the Ram for $3.50 mugs as part of the mug club for a beer night, or Barbacoa for fancy drinks and a heck of a lot more food for the prices! I sadly won't be back. read more

Been here 2 two times and both times I've been treated poorly. The staff seems to be either disinterested in its guests or thinks they are too good to be serving them. I can't remember who my server was the first time but the second time I went in and the bartender Daniel was a beam of light in the darkness (please excuse the sarcasm). When we first arrived he seemed less than happy to be taking orders from us. Not a smile or hello. He seemed more interested in talking to the other bartender than serving us. Yardhouse has happy hour at 9 and I was hoping to get some food before our movie. It was 8:59 and rather than waiting till 9 I flagged down Daniel and asked him if he could put my order in. I was disappointed when I Ordered the peppercorn filet medium there was no pink in it it was burn not crusted no flavor. The sauce was separated and I was really upset I've ordered this before and it was great. Very inconsistent. The hot and spicy edamame we got was cold. Service was really slow, but I am thinking that our server may have been new. The manager had to come by and bring our drinks (He was very nice) and the cocktails were really good; (Watermelon margarita). We tried the coconut shrimp and eggroll appetizers and they were really tasty. The Shrimp came with only three giant shrimp and they were not included in the 1/2 price apps for happy hour so I'm not sure I would order those again. We had the swordfish tacos and I have to agree with another reviewer that they were pretty salty so I personally would not order those again. My daughter and I went in to have lunch today with my 18month old twin grandchildren. The twins were especially messy and not very well behaved. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is my first experience here was great! This time if I could give 0 stars, to it I would. My husband and I waited over an hour, which we were ok with, but where they sat us we were not! Part of date night is atmosphere, they didn't even ask us if we were ok with sitting in their dark, dungeon of a patio in winter! We would have waited a while longer to be seated in the bar or restraunt. The drinks were not up to $10 a glass standard. When I told my waiter my drink wasn't good, he acted like I was an idiot for even thinking that. The chicken was also very dry and over cooked in the nachos. We do not get out much and this date was special, their patio mid winter is not a nice place to sit! We wanted to be inside with all the other people. It felt like being sent to the hall to do your work in elementary school. Maybe the hostess should ask first if they are going to seat you somewhere other than the inside restraunt. The staff was just ok, they seemed stressed or something. Not like the super friendly people that waited on us the first time we came here. Went in on Sunday - and it wasn't packed yet! This was our first visit to this location; we've been to the YH in San Diego and had a nice time. This visit was wonderful! We were seated in the patio - which was enclosed - and no screaming children! Thank you hostess! My husband is a beer snob and loved the variety! I loved the variety of the menu. I am hesitant about places that have too much variety: those who have too much on their menus tend not to be expert at any of them. But what we had was wonderful! We had the devilled eggs as an appetizer - very good, different! We each had soup: Tomato Bisque with basil (wonderful!) and French Onion soup that didn't taste canned or too salty. My hubby's grilled cheese was the best he's ever had (including mom's!) and my turkey sandwich was very good! We cannot wait to return - this will be our new favorite restaurant - but not at peak times or days. By the time we left, it was PACKED...and the Village at Meridian is beautiful. It certainly doesn't look like a typical Idaho venue...so I think on Friday nights/Saturdays/and Sundays after church: be prepared to wait. Overpriced and horrible service. We stopped by during Happy Hour and were less than impressed. The beers were over priced and the bartender was rude. When she short poured our beer for a second time I asked if she could top it up. She said that she could add more foam to it, but it was over poured already. There was over 3 inches of head on the glass! We then saw her leave the tap wide open on another pour and waste almost a whole beer! If you're going to be rude, at least pour a beer correctly. We have never been back. Tonight we tried Kona Grill across from the Yardhouse and the service was outstanding! The manager thanked us for coming in, the beer was poured correctly and my wife's drink was made perfect. Happy Hour was a nice value and has some great appetizers. We will go back there from now on when we visit for shopping or going to the magnificent new theatre. If you go here, for over $7 a beer, watch your pour! The few ounces they short change every customer is losing them a ton of business in the future. Money is too valuable to waste on poor service, no value and better options within 50 yards. read more

Being my first time, my first impression was good for the atmosphere. They were currently starting to get a 35 minute wait so my friend and I decided to sit at the bar until our table became available. It took a couple of times before someone asked if we wanted a drink and more than enough people passed us by! Well, bartender Rudi stepped up to tge plate and my friend and him hit it off talking about President Reagan. Thereafter Rudi was our man, he got us our drinks a coke and a cherry limeade (my drink). He brought us our drinks and I was so embarrassed because it apparently the cherry limeade made there is an alcoholic beverage which I did not want. So I bashfully explained what I meant for a cherry limeade...7-Up, grenadine with a couple times squeezed and Rudi's reply oh so basically a Shirley temple...lol...ok, ok tomato toemahtoe! So he fixed that right up. After our drinks Rudi asked if we would like to sit and eat dinner at the bar, we said ABSOLUTELY! Therefore, Rudi was on top of his game with my friend and I having a good time! Rudi even had a magic trick, which actually just turned out to be a napkin being laid out as placemats with a plate being held down by my silverware...as you can imagine I was not impressed but I told him better keep practicing! My friend ordered the pork burger, with clam chowder and I ordered the bacon, chicken mac-n-cheese with tomato bisque soup. Honestly, the soup was good but NOTHING to gloat about...I believe I have had tomato bisque before and it seemed to have more significance of taste. It basically tasted like Campbell's tomato soup with heavy cream whipped into it with some seasoning. When my entree finally arrived...took longer than expected...I grabbed my fork, stabbed into the macaroni and than began to blow, thinking it was steaming hot...NOPE! I wasn't sure what to think, I tried again and again and it was cold. The presentation looked great! The manager ended up coming over to see if I wanted mine heated up or another one...I started mixing the food around digging further into the dish and that helped spread the heat around. Therefore with the managers offer, the thought crossed my mind, however I declined his offer because I honestly wasn't sure how long it would take again. So I told him I was good with what I had and as I ate more I decided the pasta was not al dente enough and there was certainly not enough sauce within the cheese. It was too dry, maybe add a Bechamel sauce to the dish to make it more creamy! I will definitely not order that again but I will try the restaurant again! Rudi was great entertainment! read more

I really wanted to like this place. My husband and I have come a couple times before and the wait was so long, we went somewhere else less crowded. We tried again and had to sit at the bar before getting a table. We came for happy hour since it has been so highly recommended online. We ordered the egg rolls, chicken nachos, and mac & cheese. The egg rolls were soggy, the mac and cheese was pretty good just much greasier than we anticipated, and the nachos were lousy. We asked them how they prepared the chicken since it tasted like chicken that has been cooked and reheated in a microwave. It was rubbery, bland, and chewy. They said they boil it, shred it, and bake it once on the nachos. We couldn't eat them. The waiter asked if we wanted him to take them away since it was obvious we weren't thrilled with it. The waitstaff was very nice, but we had expected that he may take the nachos off our bill which he didn't. Oh well, sad I can't give a better review. The place has a fun atmosphere, with good music being playing, but is a little loud and chaotic too. read more

Went with some friends before a movie. My second time, their first....all of us agree it will be our last. Took 20 minutes to get our first set of drinks. We had calamari for appetizers. There was a fishbone in the calamari which is odd unless they are using fish and calling it calamari. The plates brought to share the appetizer had a chunk of fried food on it....not a small chunk. At that point the bone and the dirty plates diminished our appetites but we had an hour to kill so we ordered. The truffle burger and truffle fries were amazing.....the only reason I would recommend this place is to sit at the bar and order truffle fries....that is it. read more
