We came here as a group of five and found the vibe to be like other Yard Houses we've been to: balancing between casual and somewhat "upscale" in certain ways. I tried the Passion Fruit Spritz, which had good flavor and reasonable strength--though in hindsight, I'd probably have gone with the Smoked Old Fashioned if I had to do it again. We ordered chicken nachos, which are pretty much always a reliable option from Yard House, and this was no different. After the appetizer, I ordered the Truffle Cheese burger with fries, and was unsurprisingly satisfied with the flavor; just like many of their appetizers, their burgers tend to be reliably good (though priced a bit high comparatively; that's what you get for being in the city, though). Overall, this is a good place if your purpose is exactly what ours was: a place to chill out with some friends and share in good food with a fairly casual atmosphere. read more

I'm going to preface this review by saying that I'm not a big fan of chain establishments, but Yard House deserves a strong 4 stars. I came here for a HSMAI event where an NYU professor presented on travel market trends specific to NYC, and Yard House definitely did a great job executing on a larger business group HSMAI accommodation. Food was pretty consistent, unlike other restaurants I've been to around the area for other HSMAI. The waiters were friendly and accommodating, willing to swap out my fries and give a coffee to accompany my dessert. Food was so good, so filling. We had the chicken and shrimp pad Thai and the pineapple chicken. Each had a drink. The dragonfruit cosmo was okay, but we really liked the Coco Passion. Affordable. Armando I think was our server, he was attentive and helpful! He recommended my meal and we loved it. I didn't grab any pictures (ugh!), but plenty of TVs if you're watching a game or fight. I was originally introduced to Yard House by yelper Faye A, a yelper out of San Gabriel CA who recommended their buffalo wings, stating that their vegetarian wings are bomb!!! With this Yard House being very close to my hotel in Midtown West, it became my preferred choice for eating post running NYRR United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. I have said it once and I will say it again, "I will forget to turn my panties around when putting them on, wearing them inside out, but rest assured I will not forget what restaurant was recommended to me". I was acknowledged shortly after I walked in and up to the counter to be escorted to a seat by the hostess. I declined to sit at the bar, choosing to sit in the dining area because the bar appeared crowded. I chose to dine in rather than choosing to take my order to go since I was in the mood, plus I wanted to get a feel of the restaurant which appeared clean, and its atmosphere gave off a very lively vibe. And there are a number of tables and seats available inside of the dining area, plus televisions plastered on the wall for viewing pleasure as you eat or wait for your order. It always takes me some time to look through the menu, especially when I am unfamiliar with the restaurant. After mentioning that I was vegetarian to one of the employees, she dialed in a code on electric device at the table and several items labeled vegetarian popped up on the screen. It was then, I felt very giddy-like because it helped me with my search rather than looking at the menu which felt overwhelming to look at. Many of the products on the electronic device were by Gardein which I am very familiar with being that Gardein sells plant-based products. Once identified, I ended up choosing and ordering Lemon Pepper Wings, Parmesan Truffle Fries, and a Dragon Fruit Lemonade. As for the food, I have to say that the Lemon Pepper Wings were heavily seasoned with lemon and pepper, but ketchup helped ease the heavily seasoned taste and I ended up finishing them. The Parmesan Truffle Fries tasted delicious, but by the time I started eating them, I was stuffed from the Lemon Pepper Wings, so I ended up taking them to-go which worked out because it gave me something to eat later in the evening. Taking everything in count: food, service, and ambiance, I have to say that it was short of a great experience because of the Lemon Pepper Wings. Given that there are other items I would love to try on their menu is why I would consider visiting again whether it be this location or any other where I may travel to. Came here for a networking event. They served mainly typical bar food, which tasted fine, but very unhealthy. This ranged from loaded nachos, various flatbread pizza, chicken tenders, large pretzels, and many more. I was told that I needed to order from one of the servers walking around and not from the bar if I wanted a drink, so I did just that, but that took some time before they came back with the drink. The classic cheeseburger, made with a "proprietary blend" of prime beef, was so tender and juicy! I enjoyed the shiitake mushroom noodles too, although that dish was a tad too salty/oily for my tastes. (My stomach is kinda sensitive so you may differ on that). Leaving drinks. We commandeered a decent block of tables for maybe 25-30 people with drinks and food orders to match. Service was okay. Responsive enough when we got the servers' attention but some drink orders took a while to arrive. We were rudely reprimanded for setting down drinks at a nearby table while chatting, 2 feet away from our full tables. I understand the table was reserved but with no immediate need for the table (it sat vacant the entire time, 2 hours after being scolded) it left a bad taste in the mouth. I'll give them credit for good pours and solid food. Though I do judge their ribs. Boiled and then fried. There were other issues but I'll chalk them up to large groups leading to some chaos but overall it was still handled poorly. I am understanding of the challenges faced by hospitality but this spot made it seemed like they were doing us a favor allowing us to spend our money there. They're probably not lacking in tourists and other midtown workers cycling in but their service suggests that they don't even try to care about repeat business. Judge that accordingly. I've dined at this popular spot with a group several times for lunch after church. The place is spacious with a high end sports bar feel and chill atmosphere. The first time I came, I had the Kurobuta Pork Burger with candied bacon, cheese, and blueberry ketchup, along with Parmesan Truffle Fries. This was quite tasty and the meat was tender, succulent, well seasoned, while the sauce gave it a slighty tangy sweet flavor. The Candied Bacon was perfectly crispy and just the right amount of sugar. The Truffle Fries were simply addicting: Crunchy with plenty of cheese and true flavor of truffle. Another time, I tried the Korean BBQ Cheesesteak, with the favorite: Parmesan Truffle Fries. This consisted of chopped ribeye, white cheese, gochujang, caramelized onions, scallions, as well as roast garlic aioli. The ribeye was juicy and absolutely delicious! There was a very nice balance of flavors and all the ingredients came together beautifully. Service was slow. The food took a long time to come out, but perhaps that had to do with us being a large group. However, it was so bad that on one occasion I had to cancel my order of the Brookie dessert because it hadn't come and the friend I was supposed to share it with was heading out. Appetizers are good: Bavarian pretzel good to share, spinach dip is good, chicken wings with 2 sauces - recommend the whiskey black pepper as one for sure (probably my fave sauce). The cali roll stack is good, but the crispy rice is quite crispy hard... Avocado toast is good, but hard to cut through or was it the knife... We had a really enjoyable experience at Yard House. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was refreshing to have a main dish that came with something other than fries as a side and with no need to order additional salad/vegetables etc to complete the meal. The atmosphere really stood out too. The music was spot on and created a fun, relaxed atmosphere that made it a great place to sit back and enjoy the night. The best part was the music playing inside was also playing out on the street and we loved watching people sing and dance on their way past... such a happy vibe. The only downside was the wait to be served. But it's a busy, popular place so we get it and while the servers themselves were genuinely friendly and pleasant, service was a bit slow at times. This place is enormous. We decided to check it out before taking the train back home. It has 3 or 4 floors, and at around 5pm on a Saturday it was booming. We got a table on the 3rd floor. Our server was immediately there with tips&suggestions on the beers they have, which is ALOT. I went for a stout, it was just ok, but in my defense I drank cosmos before a show so didn't really have a taste for beer at that point. Food was delicious. We started with a bowl of edamame which was spicy&so good, we ate the entire bowl. I had the steak bowl after, with my steak cooked tender&to perfection, very filling. In our most recent visit had the Onion Rings, Wings, Shitake Garlic Noodles and the Cali Roll Stack - all excellent! Ordered a sandwich and I was served RAW BACON . Not kidding! It was AWFUL! My server profusely apologized but I was so PISSED! The manager NEVER came out to APOLOGIZE! Instead they brought me ICE CREAM for my TROUBLES! Seriously were they trying to KILL ME by serving me RAW PORK! It's got everything from typical sports bar expectations like burgers and nachos, to seafood and steak entrees, Thai, cajun and so much more! Came here on recommendation. Family of 5, with 2 teenagers. Everyone reviewed menu before we came and approved. We haven't been into NYC in quite a while. Seeing a show nearby. So there's a recurrent joke/truism regarding Times Square. a) Most New Yorkers avoid that place like it's covered with plutonium dust (unless you work in the area...in which case, you are grabbing lunch from the places around or below Bryant Park) b) Area businesses are designed to surgically remove as much greenbacks from tourists as possible, and if they offer some type of refuge from culture shock, so much the better. c) Most of the restaurants in the area are outposts of corporate chains like Dave & Busters, Red Lobsters, Ruby Tuesdays and Applebees. Times Square was infamous for things like the Reese mini food courts that features Tim Hortons, Arthur Treachers, Roy Rogers and Nathan's (ah yes, the place in NYC where tastebuds go to die), the massive Sbarros, the Ted's Steaks (If you like chewing plastic cosplaying steaks, you'll get your worth there) or the infamous Guy Fieri joint on 48th that became infamous for the Pete Wells/NYT skewering. It was kinda like walking down the "Vegas Strip" (ironically enough not inside the city of Las Vegas) in that you see nothing but "Sysco cuisine" served up with the hospitality dictated by a corporate manual. What's Sysco cuisine? Sysco is a major vendor of pre-made, pre-portioned heat-and-eat foods that are served as apps or entrees in corporate restaurant chains. Nothing is "made from scratch" in those places but rather taken out of a vacuum sealed bag, and then fired up on a broiler, steamer or fryer and then served up as dictated by the instructions written in their playbook - you can be at a restaurant on opposite ends of the coast and somehow they will all look or taste the same. If you are picturing the stuff at TGI Fridays or Applebees, it's around that. Yard house....is...kinda like that. Decent enough decor, solid bar with well and shelf drinks, and a Sysco menu. The food is not going to impress anyone, but if your office nearby does a corporate celebratory event there and it's on your boss's tab, you shut up, pop a few jalapeno poppers and maybe their spicy *insert ethnicity* wings onto a napkin, grab a drink (something fruity and frilly or some craft beer) and shoot the proverbial with your fellow corporate serfs, and enjoy a neutral space - if you are lucky you might force a drunken coworker to do something that will bring an HR incident upon their backside. Other than that, we are a city of 8.4 million and there are tons more options for date night or personal care eat-out night...unless you want your date to think that you are basic with no money sense (or you are both basic and spends stupid money)...well, do better. WOW! What a great find in the Theater District for a pre-show lunch or dinner! First of all, we had the best server in the history of servers -- Drewski! He was amazing -- knew everything on the menu, offered suggestions where we asked for them (including around drinks), and just could not have been lovelier. The place was pretty busy, and he was great about checking in from time to time to let us know the status of our food. Speaking of the food -- yowza, that was an amazing lunch! Everyone got something different, and everyone enjoyed what they chose immensely! I got the chicken sandwich with avocado, with pepper jack cheese, which added a great kick. Another person got the sliders, someone got the devil tacos (I think that's what they were called?) and there was a fish dish that I don't pay attention to because I don't eat fish. :) And the winner of our table was the fried chicken with a sweet potato pancake. We all tasted each other's dishes, and shared our fries and sweet potato fries. There wasn't one thing we didn't all rave about. They also have an amazing list of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I saw someone on the way in who had a beer that was as tall as I am (not saying much, but you get my drift). Drewski, if you're lucky enough to get him, knows his bourbon in particular, so definitely chat him up if you're a bourbon person! Fabulous space for dining, it was a bit chilly at first but that was quickly adjusted. Chareese gave the best service and the GM was kind enough to share the history of Yardhouse with us. Fries were ok, but the burger and the sliders were hands down the best I have had all year. Their blend of beef was truly premium and flavorful. Top secret of course. I loved this place from florida so I was super excited to see one in NY. I was also pleased for a chia restaurant in the city for the prices to be equal and not surcharged like other franchises have in the city. I was also happy that the quality was the same !!! It's a chill vibe very large space great for small or large groups. If your not a beer drinker which I'm not there are some beers that taste like a spritzer which are the ones I go for !! The server was attentive and great with giving feedback on the menu. The poke a nacho is perfectly balanced and super flavorful ! It definitely can hold its own as a meal. My department decided to dine at none other than Yard House! Friday evening in times square, asking for adequate sitting space, is like asking for no MTA delays. So it was a very pleasant surprise to see that despite it being a busy evening everyone has enough space to run to the bathroom without interrupting the nearby guest. Between themed art and televisions displaying the game everywhere I turned. The Yard House ambiance provided was a 'drink, eat, and have a good time' vibe and that's what I did. To drink I tried their Hawaiian Mule which I found really refreshing, not the strongest but great taste. As for food I tried their Classic Sliders which I found pretty good. Some onion rings which weren't spectacular but truly fair. I had to try their Korean Ribeye which came with chili garlic fries, all I can say is juicy, tangy with the perfect crisp from beginning to end. Finally I was able to try a dessert I went with the Oreo Brookie; which consists of vanilla ice cream on top of oreos and cookie dough fudge brownie which is essentially like 3 desserts in one but who's counting. A very large selection of beer and you can make your own beer flight . Service was friendly, efficient . Food was good with many vegetarian options. Water was filled often, without even asking which I appreciate. A large restaurant with two levels, crowded and reservations recommended. There is an elevator if desired for second floor. There is a single bathroom on first floor and multiple stalls on the second floor. Only negative , is that on the table is a tablet that has the menu, information and games on it. We played a game briefly and then saw on our bill that it added $3.49 for video games! There was never a mention to cost or how much it might be. So that was annoying. I've been a fan of Yard House as a chain for years as the one near home is a favorite for happy hours and events. It was fun to see a big one right on Times Square: big open windows, bright colors and lights, and a welcoming calmness away from the hustle and bustle of the street. On our first full day in the city, our group of five headed in and didn't have to wait for a great booth table overlooking the restaurant and street. Our experience that night was wonderful, we had an amazing server Russell who talked with us, shared our happiness at being together, and was attentive throughout. I love YH for their always large selection of beers - both the big guys and a lot of local ones so I enjoyed a few flights of things all new to me. We ordered a number of appetizers and small entrees to share. As we had a birthday in the group, we even got a song and cake - thank you all for that. Prices are reasonable for the location and consistent with other locations as is the menu. If you're in a group and not sure where to go, the menu will have something for everyone.
