Stopped by for lunch with some coworkers and it was surprisingly really empty considering it was lunch time. The place was big, bright and open, and the service was pretty good. I ordered the Mac and cheese which was pretty bomb, but if you're not a big fan of mushrooms, I'd recommend you steer clear since the truffle oil can be a little overwhelming. Husband and I went here on 5/14 and we had a great experience! It wasn't crowded and the friendly hostess seated us promptly. They have a fantastic beer selection, especially for being a chain, yet they don't skimp on the cocktail selection either. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and throughout our meal we had several people checking in on us, including management, which was appreciated. Food was good, I recommend the ahi seared steak sandwich. The drinks were great, my beer nerd husband was quite impressed with the fact they have Sam Adams Utopia (FYI, it's $200/ bottle, $22 for a 2 oz pour) which you can't get at Hoppy Monk or Flying Saucer. This was the worst dining experience because we waited an hour and did not even get to dine because this kitchen was so blasted slow. The first manager came to the table but did not do more than apologize. They brought out tickets and charged us but still had not brought our food. Had lunch here twice while staying at the Marriott. The food was okay, but the service was incredibly slow. The menu is expansive and has something for everyone. Overall, not the best or worst experience I've had. I tried the poke nachos, as recommended. The fish was overwhelmed by the sauces, but seemed fresh. To start, came here with a party of two. On a Friday night. We were told the wait was about 30-40 minutes( which was fine, since 54th Street was an hour and a half) and given a buzzer to come back. Walked around the mall for awhile, and an hour later decided to see what the hold up was. Turns out our buzzer wasn't working so we were never on the list. Awesome. Got seated and started looking at the menu. We were told the bar was backed up, so it took 15-20 mins for a beer. We ordered our appetizers the same time as the drinks, and got them 15 mins after the beers. Our waitress placed our food orders at that time and we waited. Our water glasses were only refilled twice during our hour and a half visit. Then while we're waiting on our food, she comes to to let me know that there is no one to make the pizzas ( that I had ordered) and that apparently she took off because it was too busy? So we've been waiting on our order for 20 some minutes and now I have to pick something else. Fine. An inconvenience but okay. We ordered another round of drinks and again she says it may be awhile for them to come out. She wasn't wrong. We had pretty much finished our food when the drinks came out. This was when she refilled our waters for the second time. In the end, awesome food. Lots of drafts to pick from and fun little martinis and cocktails. But the service could have been much better. The views down to the Riverwalk made for good people watching which was nice. The wait services was great as well, they took good care of us. The order system needs to be improved however. There were a lot of mixups with our order even though we were just 4 people and the restaurant was nearly empty. We had to send back several dishes because the kitchen staff misunderstood what the wait staff had tried to order. The food was decent, but not spectacular or anything. We were a little disappointed with the quality of food for the price. Burgers were fine, but not great. Soup was a little too creamy. And salad was bland. Service was slow and forgetful. The soy vinaigrette is thicker than most vinaigrettes but is overall DELICIOUS. The ahi itself was well cooked and was rich and thicc. My friends and I traveled from Houston to San Antonio last weekend (June 18 - June 21) for a river trip weekend in New Braunfels. We got an air bnb in San Antonio and thought it would be great to go out to eat one of the nights. When we arrived at Yard House that evening, the hostess asked how many in the party (10) and that would be a brief wait. A few minutes later, she came back and stated the table was ready. She seated us in the back of the restaurant between two well lit dining areas. It seemed like more of a walk way than anything. It was poorly lit, so we had to use our own cellphone lights to read the menu. The waitress arrived like 10 minutes later and seemed like she wasn't interested in serving us. She disappeared and then a waiter came by and began taking our drink and appetizer orders. The body language of both servers was very standoffish. It personally made me uncomfortable. He seemed annoyed or like we were a burden to them. He finished taking the order and stated he would be back shortly. No one ever brought out complementary water or anything. We sat watching everyone else getting the proper treatment and service while we sat waiting. I got flustered by the mistreatment and went to the front to ask the hostess about our seating. She stated it was because the back dining area was closed, but we saw several parties getting seated back there while waiting for our drinks/appetizers to arrive (which they never did). I brushed it off and headed back to my table. We wait another 10/15 minutes..still no water, no word from the waiter, nothing. At this point I'm fed up, I tell the other people in my party that we shouldn't spend a dime in an establishment that can treat people the way that you all did. We left. No words needed to be said, our actions of leaving spoke volumes. I'm not sure if it was because we are black, but what I can say is that it felt like it. There are too many things going on in the world with this pandemic and racial tension. I've never experienced anything like this before. Houston and San Antonio are two different worlds. Needless to say, I will NEVER spend a dime at that restaurant or in that city again due to my experiences this past weekend. Generally the food and beer is delicious at Yard House. I have been to multiple locations. The San Antonio location is horrible! My kids ordered burgers medium well and they were raw after waiting for over an hour for our food. All the food was barely hot we sent all the food back and left. Wonderful service! Our waitress was very attentive and answered all of our questions. I wanted to sample 4 ciders and she served them fast and gave her own suggestions as well. The food was delicious! I tried their featured pork burger and the blueberry ketchup is so good! Didn't expect to have such tangy flavors but it's a good combination! I love "weird" combos and they hit the spot! My mom ordered the lobster Mac and they got the aromatic seafood flavor perfectly! We came for her birthday and they gave us a free slice of cake! We went for late lunch on a quiet Thursday. We were very impressed. We decided to share a few apps and ordered chicken nachos, chicken strips, lettuce wraps and crab cakes. All were excellent.
