Let me start with saying - I LOVE Yard House. Normally a solid place that I can get a great salad or burger and never have to worry about it being bad. So of course, when I noticed that this Yard House had opened across from the stadium I knew I would have to give it a try. I was up celebrating the BFL lightning Launch and decided to grab lunch after. Greeted and quickly seated. Our server was fantastic! Very attentive and hustled to get our iced teas. Our orders on the other hand took a considerable time coming out and the waiter apologized for the length of time. I ordered the BBQ chicken salad - small : it is an absolute go to! Unfortunately, the chicken was so tough it could not be cut with my fork and knife. The waiter happened to be coming by and asked how it was. I showed him the chicken, he immediately took it back and had a new one made. I appreciated the willingness to make it right. The second salad came out. The chicken was juicy and was able to be cut with a fork. Unfortunately, the salad comes with southwestern style corn. The corn was like ice - like they took it straight from the freezer and just spooned a scoop onto the plate. I thought maybe I was crazy, so I asked my husband to try the corn - he was like "that taste frozen still". I am thankful that the waiter did not charge me for my salad - but to be honest, I thought by making another salad they would redeem themselves and live up to the standard of other Yard Houses. Unfortunately, not the case. I did speak to the manager on duty as I was leaving to share the experience of the second salad and the ice cold corn. He did admit that the corn comes frozen and they blanch it - clearly they missed a step. No apology or please come back and give us another try, didn't really seem to care. Typical sports bar atmosphere with lots of TVs and get loud inside. We went before a Katy Perry concert at Amalie so the vibes were high and they were playing all her top hits! Our server was on top of it, kept our waters filled and was attentive even though the placed was packed. Onion rings have a thick batter with a nice crunch, paired with the chipotle and traditional ranch. Chicken nachos are absolutely massive with tons of toppings. We were there at the weekend night before a show in Benchmark Arena. The whole place was packed, barely any empty table. We ordered five appetizers. My top favorite was the shiitake garlic noodle. The texture of the noodle and the flavor were so good, I couldn't believe it was from a bar. Secondly, I liked poke nachos and crispy brussel sprout. They were delicious, nicely done with yummy flavor and fresh material. Fire cracker shrimp were not bad. The fried calamari was OK. The coating was too much, not enough protein. The service was good. Love this location of Yard House! We ended up stopping by twice in one night, before and after a concert at the arena next door. They are able to handle an amazing volume of people at once -- well run place! I was impressed with the bartenders -- they remade my drink quickly when they noticed it was slightly incorrect. A great dirty martini. Later that night we stopped in with a group for some drinks and food. My absolute favorite is the tuna poke nachos. I crave those like no other! Marcie took FANTASTIC care of our table, and was such a fun server. If I'm ever in town again, I'm stopping in! read more

We were in downtown for an event this past weekend at the arena and stopped here for dinner before heading to the arena. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and ushered to our table. The place was full but somehow they kept finding tables for people as they walked in to eat. They had so many appetizer options and entrees. We settled on the Ahi tuna Nachos and the whiskey salmon for dinner. All the food was fresh nicely seasoned and delicious. Our server was amazing and all the staff were super friendly. I was excited to learn that Yard House opened in Tampa after trying it in Orlando. I couldn't wait to visit. Lunch was the meal I chose, and it was a good choice. The chicken lettuce wraps reminded me of the ones at P.F. Chang's. The flavor of the chicken was perfectly seasoned and paired well with the bib lettuce. My only complaint is that for a takeout order, there wasn't enough lettuce for the amount of chicken I received. Overall, I give it two thumbs up. We came on a lightning game day, 2 1/2 hours before the game. There was plenty of seating available and we were sat right away. Our server finally came to the table after 15 minutes and took our drink orders. We started we spicy edamame. It was covered in a chili oil, very messy and they were basically raw, just warmed through. I got the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. It was good. My wife got the Maui pineapple chicken. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes- 1 hour and we decided to wait. We actually waited 1 1/2 hours to be seated. As we sat there on a bench right next to the hostess we heard her tell everyone that came in it would be 1 1/2 - 2 hour wait. The bigger the party, the longer the wait. As we sat there for an hour I asked her why is the wait so long? I was told by the hostess that....because there was football games on the TV's, people were sitting at the tables for 3 HOURS, not eating!!! Now, I'm not here to bash Yard House. I actually love Yard House, but this was extremely disappointing!! I don't understand why they do not set time limits at the tables! Especially on days when there are other things going on at the arena and elsewhere! The bar area is one thing but not the tables where people want to sit and eat. The line kept forming out the door and the hostess was recommending people go to Sparkman's Wharf after they said they couldn't wait 2 hours. When we were literally about to get up and leave after waiting 1 1/2 hours we were called for a table. When we were seated we saw many tables with many people not eating or drinking. They had clearly finished eating some time earlier. We saw food in containers and empty glasses. They were sitting watching the game. I ordered the the Cali roll stack, not your typical stack consisting of crab, rice, cake, tomatoes, avocado, cucumbers, ginger, cilantro, pickled ginger, aïoli, just to name a few ingredients. My brother and I came here on a Saturday to check it out. Although it was busy, we were giving a 25-35 min wait time (less than we thought it would be). We were told that outdoor seating was first come first serve, so we decided to go outside and found a spot. The server came over to the table within a few minutes and was friendly and pleasant. They were moderately busy and your typical Yard House ambiance (for those that have been to other locations). Menus are pretty standard only local brews are different. I ordered the Korean bbq cheesesteak with sweet potato fries. The Korean bbq cheesesteak had good flavor, nice balance of cheese and sauce with the steak. I would suggest more meat and bigger portion size, with same flavorful taste. Our server Ella was great and very attentive. We had chicken tacos with tomato basil soup and truffle fries and my SO had chicken Philly and fries. I also had a salty watermelon margaritas which was delicious and he had a pineapple something. Both were great ! It was so good we went back the next night and a totally different experience. The times of day we went were also different. First time was Friday around 7 and 2nd time was Saturday night around 10. Service was nice but not like Friday. Service was a little slow. This time we had BBQ bacon burger and sweet potato fries. I had the soup again with spinach dip. My SO said the burger was good and the sweet potato fries were okay. My soup was good but the dip was too thick more like a spread. The chips tasted stale and were very salty. If our 2nd experience was our only one I probably wouldn't go back, but our 1st was so good we'll give them another opportunity. I think our waitress was Jeannie, she was great probably one of the best service we had anywhere (and we eat out quite a bit) I really wish I could remember her name because she really deserved to be recognized.
