The food is not bad but the WAIT is insane. We sat down at around 4:50 ish (I know because I sent my bff a text when I sat down) and didn't get our food until almost 6:00pm! They kept telling us it's because they had "a lot of orders". I didn't see a single DoorDash driver the whole time we were sitting there. If they had just admit they forgot our order it would have been fine. A lot of the reviews on their google say they take forever/f up orders. Delicious!! Went to Yaz tonight with some very very dear friends. They have been here before, but for my mom and I it was our very first time. It was DELICIOUS! We started with two: Appetizers were number 2 (Kashk-O-Bademjan) eggplant spread. Very mild tasting egg plant eaten with the wonderful flat pieces of bread. The other appetizer was number 3 (Mirza Ghasemi) eggplant, eggs and garlic spread. Both were extremely yummy! Our main course was served family style. Chicken, hamburger beef and Lamb kabobs served with grilled veggies (onions, tomato, zukes and green bell peppers. All were grilled or roasted to perfection. Very very tasty! The spices are very delicious! Every meat was perfectly cooked! Tender, juicy and very flavorful! For dessert we had the rose water flavored vanilla ice cream which is super delicious and a bakalava which was yummy too! Great restaurant and we will be back very soon! read more

Just ok. Has the tahdeeg was dry and not very flavorful, the chicken and filet combo lemon was good and the jalepeno was spicy. Roasted tomato's on the side was very yummy and charred. Ask for their spicy chili sauce on the side, it was very good. For a dinner at 5 the restaurant was very warm so be prepared if you do not enjoy being in a HOT restaurant. Really wanted to like this place, but didn't think our experience was that great. The employees were friendly and serviceable. The food was meh at best, but also it doesn't clock in at the prices it currently has set for them. We ordered the koobideh plate and the soltani plate (filet mignon + koobideh). The koobideh was soft, spongy, but overall didn't really hit the spot. The soltani plate had "filet mignon" but the restaurant did not ask which preference I would like for it to be cooked at. It ended up coming out pretty well done, which I'm not a fan of. I would have liked it if they asked for well-ness preferences. Also, it was incredibly tough, and especially for something that is filet mignon. The rice was very basic and lacked any additional flavor/seasoning, and the one roasted tomato was pretty sad to look at and eat. We came during prime time and our group was only one of two patrons there. I would've loved to come back to try their joojeh, their tahdig (my favorite), but I'm not sure if it is worth a second visit for me personally. read more

12/31/24 The food at Yas is always amazing and delicious. I haven't ordered in a while until tonight. I made a huge mistake when I placed my order & didn't realize I was ordering a vegetarian dish. On my 2nd trip to the restaurant they pointed out I ordered the vegetarian albaloo polo. I was upset and annoyed, embarrassed by my behavior. Food was alright the chicken and meat felt like I was eating tofu or like very much fluffy , rice was good glad they had the cooked tomatoes and the sumac on their tables I did notice on my plate that had some purple vegetables and a yellow bell pepper I tried the purple vegetable and it was tremendously sour . The waitress did gave us butter and pita flat bread but it was very cold . First time experiencing, normally Persian restaurant gave you a block of feta cheese some nuts ,mint and warm pita bread . We were also charged for water , I thought it was water like tap water lol not bottled water . We ordered the crispy rice appetizer and the "dinner for two" (three kebabs), spent over $100, and left hungry. No complimentary tap water--just expensive, mediocre bottled water. The food was dry, unappetizing, and the meat was tough and flavorless. The decor didn't help--chipped paint and a run-down vibe. I wouldn't have minded the price if the meal or the service were any good, but the owner was rude and seemed more interested in upselling than giving us a positive dining experience. I absolutely love this place. My partners family is Assyrian and this place is super authentic. We go here for their birthdays, and I have just fallen in love with the food here. I get the yas special which comes with Koubedeh (ground beef) and chicken with basmati rice. The koubedeh is UHHHHMAZING!! It's a family favorite. I've never been huge on Persian or Iranian food but man, this wins my heart every time we go here. The ladies who work the front are super nice and helpful. I've learned happy birthday in their language. And it's just so awesome to go here. It definitely takes you to a different place and you don't feel like you're in San jose anymore. I haven't really had Persian food before except for a dish with rice and cranberries from a friend so I wasn't sure what expect. I got the Yas special and the portions are huge!! I had enough food for two days. Beef is super super tender and the chicken was pretty juicy. I heard the chicken is much better if you eat there since you can avoid it being over cooked in the to-go tray. I've never been to this area of SJ but it's tucked between some random stores. Wow! What a delicious find!! My husband has been in the mood for good Koobideh and we found this great little restaurant. Every dish was delicious, well seasoned and huge!! The kebab plates are served with two skewers of meat, a grilled tomato and a large mound of fluffy saffron seasoned rice. I subbed my rice for grilled veggies for an extra $6. It was well worth it. I enjoyed the variety of vegetables-zucchini, peppers, onions and mushrooms. We ordered two appetizers and each ordered our own kebab plate. Sabzi-a variety of fresh herbs, feta and soaked walnuts. This is delicious eaten with the lavash bread and the meat. We always order this at Persian restaurants to complement our kebabs. Mirza Ghasemi-grilled eggplant, tomato and egg. Smoky, flavorful dip we enjoyed with the lavash bread. Bone in Chicken-I was so impressed with this Cornish game hen. There was so much food and the chicken cooked perfectly. It was tender, juicy and tasted citrusy. I loved it and I have leftovers for another meal. Yum!! Koobideh- the chicken and beef koobideh were both tender, juicy and delicious. Easy to make choice when it comes to addressing our craving for some great Persian food. Drove there and was able to find parking in the lot next to the restaurant. Settled in and we placed our order right away as we were hungry and ready to devour :). We started with Kashk e Bademjan as well had Mast o muser along with it. The former being a dish made from eggplant ( absolutely amazing ) while the latter being a yogurt dip made with Persian shallots ( finger-licking good). The host asked and I did comply by having a cup of tea along with the food. We did order the Khoresht - e Fesenjan( stew made with walnuts and pomegranate) as well though it came along with the main course. Along with that we ordered a juicy and very nicely cooked Soltani kabob and as well Joojeh Kabab ( boneless) where each of these come along with saffron rice and a grilled tomato. Juicy kabobs were an absolute delight to eat and relish. Ate to our hearts content and did end up packing.l the remaining stew as a to go with us as we didn't want to leave anything that delicious and served with so much care and love by the hosts. We ended the dinner with a cup of Bastani (saffron Persian ice cream) and left no traces behind in the bowl ( that amazingly good) that it was served in :) Awesome food , great hosts , nice ambience which means an absolutely absolute recommendation. Yas is a Persian restaurant located in Saratoga. Its been here for as long as I can remember. The restaurant interior is a bit outdated, dimly lit, with a small seating capacity. Rarely ever half full in my experience, the restaurant is pretty quiet and staffed with nice workers. *The grilled tomatoes are literally FIRE. Juicy and sweet with a delicate skin thats been charred to perfection. *The beef koobideh is my favorite thing here. The beef has a smoky flavor heavily seasoned. The beef is juicy and tender. * Chicken breast kabob was my least favorite item. The chicken breast was dry, like most breast meat. Flavor was really mild so I used some lemon on it. Flavorwise.. still nothing special. *Kashk-o-Bademjan- creamy pureed eggplant with a crispy onion topping was fabulous. Enjoy it with a side of lavash bread and butter. The white sauce on top adds an extra layer of creaminess. This appetizer is particularly light and great option to share. *Shirin polo with steamed chicken- the rice is tasty, incredibly fragrant and pairs well with almost anything. The chicken was soft, moist but lacking in depth of flavor. The marinade was a very basic tomato sauce that could easily pass for canned tomato sauce. I would skip next time. The food quality is decent, but nothing to write home about. My favorite dishes being the minced eggplant and beef koobideh. If you're craving Persian food, this spot gets the job done. read more
