EDIT: Shayne contacted me pretty quickly after my review and offered to have me come back to get it fixed. They were very quick and remembered what I wanted. He had me get cut by one of the female stylists, and she got it done very quickly after asking me a few more specific questions. Much more satisfied the second time. I had Shayne. He seemed pretty nice, but when I showed him what I wanted for bangs, he gave me maybe 10% of the bangs I wanted. It's much less fuller, and I honestly can't really tell the difference between the before and after. Especially after tucking my hair behind my ear, it looks... pretty much the same before the haircut. I still tipped him since I think that's the custom. He layered my hair in the back, but it doesn't look ... straight. I see a lot of uneven edges even just walking out of the salon. I'm not sure if that's because my hair is just not as healthy, but it doesn't look ... straight to me. Overall, I'm pretty disappointed that I spent money to look unchanged when I wanted a more significant difference. I dunno. Wish I had the balls to tell them that and get it fixed, but I don't know if they would have made the changes anyway?? Of note, the minute I walked in, they started telling me that my hair needed recoloring, which I know is true. I did a bunch of box coloring at home to achieve the grey hair look. He kept commenting that it's green, which I know. He didn't say it in a mean way, but I thought it was interesting that he kept remarking on it when I came in for a haircut and not coloring. I LOVEEEEEEE my new hair!!!! Linda was so patient with my hair and took her time so it wouldn't break and told me the process of what she was doing to be doing. She was honest and said she will try her best to lift my hair but might leave some warmnest at the end and I was totally fine with it. She used olapex in her process which is $20 extra cash only on the side. I think it's worth it. Also tip is cash only too. The rest you can pay on your card, probably visa/ MasterCard only. The process took almost 7 hours, roughly 6.5 hours. Sooooo worth it and my hair didn't break off. I'm in love with it and everyone also!! The price is totally reasonable to other locations ($230)! My roots were bleached white and re-dyed black. I look worse than when I came in. Even after, I discussed how bad these results were. She offered to charge to fix her mistakes. DESERVES NO STARS: stylist did NOT listen or inquire intently for what i wanted and how short to cut my hair. he did NOT trim or finely cut the hair after his initial chop. he spent about 15 minutes total and left hair pieces all over my face and outfit. On my way out i realized that the so called layers he did were uneven in the back and that the hair looks frizzy. I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS BUT.. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 2/5. I booked an appointment with Linda through recommendations because she does amazing white hair. Unfortunately, I did not get that. I asked her to go as white as she could all the way to my roots but the results was not cute. I get it. You of course want to be cautious when dyeing hair especially bleaching all the way to the root. But I've done it before plenty of times and I told Linda too. There was some yellow and banding right when we were finished but no biggie. She told me not to wash my hair for 48 hours and tone with purple shampoo once a week. Fast forward to 48 hours later, I showered and toned my hair to the picture below. I asked Linda to fix it because it obviously looks like a harsh transition of yellow to white. She said she was busy and that we can do it in 2 weeks which I was fine with because I'm also busy. After talking on the phone and texting her, we have resulted to her not wanting to fix my hair. Being in the beauty industry myself I always fix it if my client asks me to even a few days to a week later or give at least a partial refund. It was my second time getting a haircut here by Shayne and I really like the haircuts he gives. An additional plus is that he works very quick but still has great precision in his technique even with the speed. At this place they also wash your hair for you before you get a haircut (no additional cost) which is something that I'm not very used to as it will usually cost and additional $5. The prices here as of 3/27/22 is $15 for a male haircut which is very affordable and is much cheaper than every other place I've been to. It actually has not changed at all since 12/2021 which is the last time I got a haircut here even though inflation hit more aggressively around the beginning of 2022. This is definitely a hair salon that gives great service and is extremely affordable . Highly recommend! read more

I usually come in as a walk-in on Sundays, so I've had multiple stylist, and personally I think Shayne is the best with mens cuts. 4 stars is accurate for this place. Not everyone cuts well Here. Our top two are Kevin and Diep. They cut men's hair the best. The style turns out to be what we asked for. Everyone else cuts turn out pretty bad and nothing from what we asked for. Prices there are average, but a bit high for simple trim. One time, I just needed to get rid of my ends, very simple (less than 10 mins) and was charged $25, so I think that is their minimum for women's hair. They accept walk-ins but you might not get your usual person. read more

After several years of going to a local barbershop by my home, and paying $15 for just a basic men's haircut (flat top) and my regular barber expecting me to hand him over a $5 tip each time, it was time to look for an Asian Hair salon. (He would make change with a $5 and a $1 from a $20 every time). It was a pain in the ass to have to pay in cash for each haircut. I decided it was time to write a review after my third visit. I live in an area that is not predominantly Asian, so I knew I would have to find a salon that was in area of Orange County near my employer. I'm not being racist, but sometimes only someone of the same ethnicity understands the issues another suffers from: such as stiff, wiry, coarse hair like mine which refuses to be styled in any way, shape or form without the help of a ton of hair product(s). I read all of the reviews for Yashi, and decided to do a walk in since a few of the stylists review's read they were always booked up or would cancel appointments which based on my situation, was not conducive to my schedule. I walked in when the salon just opened on a Monday morning. It was already busy with at least five stations busy with clients. I was advised that Tho ("toe") would be my stylist. I was secretly keeping my fingers crossed that she would be able to style my hair differently than what I usually was accustomed to for many years and it was time for a change. I sat down at her station and we talked briefly when my last haircut was, what I was wanting etc. Then it was off to the shampooing station for a quick wash and relaxing scalp massage.....ahhhh... Back at Tho's station, she quickly performed her magic on my head of hair. Based on telling her how lazy I am when it comes to spending more than a few minutes on my hair with minimal fuss, she finished up with a new hairstyle/cut that was versatile and could be styled two different ways depending on my level of energy to style my hair, with just a small amount of hair product. After Tho's final adjustments to her satisfaction and mine as well, it was back to the shampooing station once more for another shampoo and scalp massage. We returned to her station where she showed me how to style my hair and the different hair products I could use. There was no product up selling. Tho just explained the difference(s) between hair gel and hair wax. The grand total for this this awesome hair salon experience? Twelve ($12) total for a men's haircut with a before and after shampoo, which you can pay for with a debit or credit card. The only thing you can't include your stylist's tip on this type of payment. TIPS ARE CASH ONLY. I was very lucky to have Tho assigned to cut my hair on my first visit. I will be returning to Yashi and making all of my appointments with her only. Update for July 2018: I have since returned to have cut my hair since my first initial May 2018 visit two more times by Tho. I think she is surprised that I returned each time, knowing how far away I live. Each time Tho cuts my hair, she is always friendly, patient, meticulous and detail oriented. I followed exactly their instructions, not washing hair until the second day, put on mousse, and not blow dry. My hair went sraight the same night. I called and was lucky enough to get a same day appointment and the process was really efficient, I only had to wait about 10 mins when I got there and the rest happened without a wait! I had virgin hair and wanted to dye it a light brown ombré and I'm super happy with the result :) It took about 3.5 hours with a cut and style but Linda was so nice, easy, and fun to talk to, time passed right by! She continually checked up on me while I was on the hair dryer chair and gave me updates on what she was going to do next so I felt really cared for :) She gave me tips on how to take care of my hair and style it too. Very disappointed. My sister and I did a walk in and waited about 45-50 minutes for a haircut. The stylist gave us the complete opposite of what we wanted. My sister and I both had multiple reference pictures. The stylist my sister had was a man had blonde tips. He was very aggressive with her hair and I saw him yanking her head with his comb. He cut it so much shorter than what she asked for and blowdried without any product causing her to walk out with frizzy, super short hair, and extremely choppy layers. The lady I had had her hair in a low ponytail and she had a brassy balayage. I showed her the reference pictures and told her I didn't want any length taken off. She proceeded to tell me I had to get length taken off which didn't make any sense. So I told her i'll change the style so I wouldn't have to have any length taken off. She proceeded to cut about 3 inches off mf hair and even gave me choppy curtain bangs along with choppy layers AND extremely short hair. I did my research and ask KEVIN to cut my hair. If you're a guy I recommend going with him. I gave this place a 2nd chance and came back after the first terrible experience. According to the good reviews go to KEVIN, LINDA or LINH. I showed Kevin a photo how I wanted my hair to be cut. It felt a little rush but as he was cutting I felt safe in his hands and he started to talk a little more. After the first cut, he washed my hair, cut it again, styled it, cut and finalized it. Why I only gave it 3 stars is because the lady that tremendously messed up my hair the first time saw me and gave such a bad vibe. Before Kevin started to cut my hair she saw me and pulled him over to whisper something in his ear and he just kind of laughed it away. LADY MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS.
