Today I went to Yates Express Lupe and I got the most amazing service as I always do. Today I came to get an oil change and Alonzo was very professional, knowledgeable & polite!!! He made sure that all of my tires had enough air in them and if they didn't he made sure to put air in my tires. He also checked my battery and let me know that my battery was in great condition. I absolutely love the service I received from here! I took my car in for an oil change and I am so glad I did. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the gentleman working there who took his time to explain everything to me step by step. Everyone was extremely friendly! The one gentleman helping me even took the time to play and distract my baby as I filled out some paperwork. I waited for about 20mins for the service and was offered a free cup of coffee which was great. When I picked up my car it was vacuumed and I even received a free car wash. Came for an oil change and they tell me they can't get the cap to come off so they can drain it??? All the tools you guys have and you "can't get it off"??? So what do they do? "Oh take it back to the last place you got an oil change" and this was all in the span of 15 minutes I doubt they even tried. Avoid this place. God awful service. Drove my package 2 hours away the day before delivery when they have a terminal here in town. Then on day of (supposed) delivery they said they would call. They NEVER called and dropped the package off at their terminal here in town. I called them this morning and was on hold for 5 hours while I was at work. Once they called they said there was nothing they could do and someone would reach out in 24-48 hours... Excuse me? I need my package now. Once I stated this, the operator called the terminal and informed me delivery will be in 2 days.. I sure hope so. What a joke and waste of time, poorly ran business. At least a waste of a $100 in gas, vehicle wear etc. driving my heavy package around in their shitty vehicles for hours and hours. Whelp, I'm sitting in line on the 27th of July burning fossil fuel, my Saturday, and my a$$ off whilst I wait to have my car inspected. Not currently happy. They should at least serve breakfast foods inside. I mean, I got up early to be here and I've been waiting over an hour now with another 5 cars in front of me. I'm fuming in more ways than one. Why is there only one bay open for inspections at the end of the month when the line is this long? Also, not posting this until my car is actually inspected. So, almost two hours, but between catching up on my yelp reviews and listening to a book on CD, I made it through, and so did my 2008 Honda Civic. I'm glad the morning was productive and I'm glad that everyone was, while brusque, very efficient. PS friends, Yates even has Sunday hours for inspections AND they give you a coupon for a free car wash, which was much appreciated. read more

Staff is great, shop is terrible. Quoted $450.00 to replace a door handle on a 2002 truck. I knew it needed to be replaced but wow. Took me an hour in a half to replace the $70 part. $380 for labor! Unbelievable!! read more

I went to Yates express because I was sent here because all of my brake lights were out. I was told to ask for Brett. I went there and some guy with long hair came and asked what I wanted. I told him and I described Brett. He went to get Brett but Brett didn't have the decency to come and and talk to me. He sent the first guy out and said they would first have to do a diagnostic for 200 and depending on what they find it would cost up to $700??!! Maybe they thought I was a woman alone but my husband was there in his own car because he followed me because of my brake lights being out. When I told him what the guy said he was as mad as I was ! We went to the Shell on Franconia rd and they just changed the light bulbs!! Yates didn't even check them! Brett was to good to come and talk to me he just sent his worker to give me an extremely unreasonable price! DO NOT GO HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOUR A WOMAN! They are con artists! I've been living here for over 15 years and I will never go back there . I suggest you do the same! read more

Everytime I have come to the Express lube to get any work done on my car the mechanics have been friendly and knowledgeable. They don't try to rip you off or sell you things you don't need. They're very good at taking customer cues and knowing when a customer goes in for a certain things that we want that certain thing done and don't want a whole lot of unnecessary hub bub about how screwed up their car is and how they can fix it. I know my cars is a piece of crap...it's a Chrysler. The mechanic that did the oil change in my car last month was awesome. I showed up at 745 in the morning without an appointment, he immediately took my car into the garage and within 15 minutes my oil change done and I was on my way. The mechanic and I even joked around about how crappy Chryslers are and I really appreciate that sense of humor since I really think Chryslers are pieces of shit. I've never had a bad experience here so I will continue to use them as my go-to mechanic shop when I need quick and efficient service. The one drawback to this place is that, like a previous poster said, the gas is very expensive. But honestly everything Kingstowne and Northern Va period is expensive, so I'm not shocked there. The associates in the gas stations snack shop are equally as friendly as the mechanics. They really just make you leave there with a smile which is not how one normally leaves a mechanic's shop. Stopped by this morning in the bitter cold to get air for my tires. The wind chills were below zero and my attempts to add air at their sister station across the street failed. A real nice guy out back on a break, immediately came up to my car as I was driving in and very cheerfully asked what he could do for me. When I explained I needed air, he professionally checked my door sticker to see how much air my tires required, added air and got me on my way. The can-do attitude was very much appreciated. On the coldest day ever, my tire decides it wants to go to sleep. I stopped by here to see if they could assist. They assisted me like it was 80 degrees out. Professional and free. "we cant do it, no wheel lock key" which turned into. "we have our own wheel lock key and can do it but not until tommorow. charging people 120 dollars for oil changes knowing full well the 53 dollar version is fine. nice enough guys, all standing around on their cell phones smoking half the time. if you choose to go here you better be an informed consumer or they'll bleed you for everything they can. read more

EDIT: After posting this review I almost immediately got a phone call from the manager, Alex, who was so kind and helpful and told me to bring my car in the next day so we could look at it together. I brought the car in and he thoroughly inspected it. After reviewing the problem we came to a mutually agreeable solution. I really appreciate Alex taking the time to meet with me and addressing my concerns quickly. I changed my rating to 5 because of how Alex professionally handled this issue. Thank you! I brought my car into the shop for an oil change and left with my car making a weird noise as I was driving on I-95. I brought the car back a few days later and they told me it was my fault, that I must have hit something. When I 100% did not. They offered no other solutions and now want to charge me to replace two parts in my car. As a young woman it's been hard for me to find an auto shop that is trustworthy and this one is not. I seriously discourage anyone from bringing their car here. read more

This is my go-to mechanic for my Prius. The mechanics are knowledgable and polite. They know you're in a hurry so they try to get you out quickly, and they know you don't want to spend too much so they help you decide what repairs can wait vs what needs to be done now. You have to love a place where the staff says things like "you don't need to replace that right now, but start budgeting for it in the next 6 months". Sure, I could probably find a place that was a little cheaper on labor, but I feel like I'm in good hands here, and they deserve the pay they get! Side note: I know this isn't a big deal but they have a female mechanic. It's just nice to see a woman in a field where you don't see many women. :) read more

I have had the worst service at this auto shop. I've tried three times to get my vehicles' inspection and emissions test done. They do not require an appointment so each time I checked their website for times AND called to confirm they were available. Each time they confirmed their times and confirmed that I would be able to bring my cars in. All three times when I arrived the technician was not at the shop and they weren't able to do these tests. I work during the days so it's not easy to get to a shop- this is why I called to confirm times. My number one problem with this shop is their inability to have and give the correct information. Their hours of operation online do not align with what it posted on signage at their shop and that does not align with what they verbally tell their customers. That is the most frustrating, especially when I am altering my day according to the information they provide. Inconvenience is an understatement. I will not go to this shop for anything ever again. I wouldn't be able to guarantee anyone would be there to complete the service! read more

Today, I went with my Ford F350 truck and they told me it would be $202.00 - are you kidding me? Went to local gas station and they changed it for $20 with my own oil and filter. Great and fast service. My under carriage front panel had fallen off after going over a speed bump. It began to drag on the ground and just became an eyesore and it was completely annoying. I tried to get it taken care of at the Yates in Alexandria off of Mt. Vernon but they were swamped. A gentleman referred me to this location and Shane helped me out. Friendly people. Super fast service. I was in and out in about 20 minutes on a Saturday morning. Very reasonable prices. I got a high mileage oil change (synthetic blend) on my SUV for $72 (pre tax). They also suggested a much needed air filter change. Rodney brought put the new air filter, opened the box in a manner such that I could see the filter is new and installed the new filter in a very transparent manner. Yates is expensive, but I've gone there for maintenance because it's in a convenient location. Except now their mechanics are rudely yelling at me, so I won't be going back. On Saturday, I went to get a car inspection and there was a line of about five cars. When the line moved forward all the cars pulled up one space except for the car right in front of me. I thought, OK, strange, but no big deal. When the line moved again, all the cars moved up except for the one in front of me. At this point I gave a tap on my horn; after a minute, I got out of my car to request that that the other driver move forward. To my surprise, there was no one in the car! So I pulled around the empty car and got in line as normal. If you're waiting for movie tickets or whatever, if you leave the line you lose your spot, right? And you don't get to just leave some object there like your coat or bag to hold your spot. After a minute a Yates mechanic came out and barked at me to back up. I asked why. He got in the empty car; I didn't move. Then he got out and again rudely ordered me to back up. I asked, why? He told me it was first come first serve, so I said, there was no one in the car, the car didn't move, that person has lost his spot. The guy yelled at me again to move. I told him that I was taking my business elsewhere. There are plenty of other garage is around here with courteous service and better prices that will treat you fairly and not be stupid and disrespectful. read more

I didn't have an appointment and they had a long line for inspection so we did have a bit of a wait time (1.5 hrs) but it was worth the wait and it came with a free car wash. 2d time to Yates Kingstowne Center recently and both visits were so exceptional they motivated me to go online and compliment Manager Kris Jellesed and Abe M (safety and emissions). I noticed both visits Kris there early for opening and both times well groomed in uniform and moving around ensuring customers are greeted and work is getting done. I also overheard him mentoring some of the more junior staff on doing customer service correctly. I am a local resident and I was not a fan of Yates from a previous experience 3 years ago where I felt Yates 'took advantage' on an oil change... I have avoided them. However, I came away from these visits with a "maybe I'll give them another chance." After safety inspect, came to find out my fault I needed emissions check so back I go to Yates. Again, greeted by Abe with smile and efficiency. No upsell nonsense or such - takes it in and gets it done! No one in the bays are slacking or goofing off. I watched and from what I can see, it is Kris' leadership and managerial skills. Yates would be wise to appreciate his work ethic and talent. The cherry on top for both visits is they are giving away a free car wash at their wash down the street for any services including safety and emissions!! (This is a GREAT value deal) read more

I just wanted to let you know that your prices are absolutely asinine. 116.00$ for a full synthetic 5w30 oil change.. you are raping people..... Napa Auto Parts Full Synthetic 5w30 1qt at 6.99. My truck takes 7qts comes to a total of 48.93 so in this scenario lets say 48.93 Oil that you guys use per receipt 6.99 for the additional qts 2.50 Disposal fee = 65.41 before taxes. Still a far reach from 116.00 As a business I understand you need to also make money to pay for your employees.... Two employees worked on my vehicle which mind you didn't do half what they said they did per receipt (i.e. clean windshield, check lights, check air filter, check radiator coolant). I know this because I have needed a new air filter for 6-8 months now, and the obvious I was sitting in my truck and didn't turn on headlights, hit brakes, or even blinkers, nor did they wash my windshield. Here is the breakdown of my receipt: Full service synthetic (95.99) included 5 qts and oil filter Mobil Super Full synthetic 5w30.. 6 @ 12.99 Disposal Fee of 2.50 So how do you get by with charging 116.00? That is 40.28 added on. I guess in fine print you're giving away a car wash worth 38.00 so basically the customer is paying for the car wash. So yes you get oil by the barrel, a barrel of 5w30 synthetic goes for approximately 583.99 (584.00). we can do the math on that and it also doesn't add up to 116$. You're taking advantage of innocent people that don't know any better.. This email will be forwarded to the BBB as well. Have a good day, and fair well.. I like this place. Went on a Saturday afternoon. Service was very fast! I got the part-synthetic W-20 oil change, plus air filter and cabin air filter change for $166. That's not bad. And you get a free ultimate car wash at Yate's carwash nearby, which is a value of $24. All it all, it was standard charges with some perks, but very fast service. Hell, I'd definitely come back. I only went in for a state inspection in July 2018, which they not only completed in less than 30 minutes (with one other customer in front of me!), however, they treated me to a free cup of coffee AND a free car wash at the Yates Car Wash across Kingstowne Blvd. I've gone to this location for quick fixes before (e.g., flat tires, dead batteries) but they ALWAYS take great care of me...and other customers as well.
