I will start with by saying this place is very deceiving when you see the restaurant from outside. I believe this building used to be a credit union before and again, the building did not match the product. Same case now, I was not expecting the inside of this restaurant to look so nice and elegant. My wife and I went there for dinner, I went there really looking just to get a Cuban sandwich, however, once we walked in, I realize this place was not just a sandwich place. As a matter of fact, I would recommend you call ahead and make a reservation just in case. We got there at around 6pm on a Sunday, and the place was packed. Because of the location, there is plenty of parking outside of the building. I had the chicken salad which used olive oil and garlic as dressing and it was very good, my wife had the Taste of Ybor, which has 3 different meats "ropa Viejo, Picadillo and roast pork", you get two sides for which she had the fried plantains and yellow rice. This too was very good. I can honestly say that I was very impressed with this place. Food had great flavor and portions were generous. Prices were ok, between $10 to $15 per plate. There is plenty of parking and getting there is not interrupted by traffic. I will definitely be returning to this place again. read more

Passing through, stopped at Racetrac for gas. Asked a few customers inside for suggestions on a great lunch spot. Looking for something authentic to the area. A man suggested Ybor Restaurant. Drove up to a pleasant clean looking building. Upon walking into the door we were greeted by a friendly lady. Lunch had just started. Vicky was our fabulous waitress. Friendly, professional service with a smile. Vicky was happy to be there and valued her customers. The food was outstanding, I got the Ybor lunch bowl with Ropa Vieja, a marinated shredded beef. Oustanding combination of flavors, enough for two people and priced right. Vicky even packed up my leftovers for my cooler for the ride home. I 2as not about to keave my left overs, I don't know when I will get a chance to come back. read more

Sorry Ybor Grille, not sure how you got best Cuban in the area that was posted in the Osprey but my husband and I are natives of Tampa and he said his sandwich was tasteless. I gave 1 star because my Palomilla steak sandwich was good. Additionally we also got 2 Devil Crabs that totally had NO flavor, no seasoning, no freaking salt even. Strangely enough I also detected some weird spice flavor that made the Devil Crab taste musty. I guess you are fooling the seniors whose taste buds may not be as good as they used to be, transplants from the north and tourists that don't know any better. That was a wasted $40 so I won't darken your door again. There are far better places in town for great Cuban food than your restaurant. read more

Loved this place!! Great food my first visit was great experience! From the hostess to waitress everyone was wonderful. Team work was evident. Glasses always kept full. Bread was amazing. Food was the best !! Had the daily special so much can't eat it all. Blackened mahi with shrimp over Cuban rice was out of this world. Bread and olive butter was a great accent. I went in there at 815 pm on a Thursday with my two sons to be greeted with the remark that they closed at 830 pm and we needed to get our orders into the kitchen fast as we only had 15 minutes. She actually told us three times in the time it took to seat us that they were closing. Feeling like we were a bother we decided to order an appetizer to eat there and our food to go. Our waitress kept apologizing as she must have overheard how we were informed that they were closing so many times. So we ordered the potato balls and they were just okay. We got our food and paid $57 and left a $10 tip to be nice. When we got home we were missing several things even though we were informed that all the containers were in the bag. My dish was beef tips with garlic mashed potatoes and fried cabbage. she also told me there was fresh bread to go with it. I got the beef tips which were good, the side of cabbage wasn't there and the potatoes were simply put horrible. They were sour tasting and no taste of garlic, they actually tasted like they were made from a box with sour milk. The bread was so hard you couldn't eat it. My son was also missing his second side. So I called them back and explained what was wrong but the response I got was we are now closed but next time you eat here we can give you an extra side or two. So I literally said thanks and just hung up. 4 hours later I have spend 3 of them in the loo with an upset stomach and throwing up. I would say this had to be the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. If I could give this place minus stars I would. Awful customer service and the potatoes made me sick and we were missing items, all for the price of $67. Not work the money, time or effort. One word review. Awful.... read more

I had the Taste of Ybor and couldn't finish it. it was very bland and not seasoned in the Cuban way, the sauce from the Picodilla ran into everything else. The plantains were quite good. it was very clean (I remember the old place where the food was always giood):and has a nice bar. I would go back for a sandwich but not for the Anglo-Cuban dinners. I still like La Terrasita for authentic Cuban food of of those I've visited and of course Columbia in Ybor City is outstanding for a special outing. read more

If you want the best mojo pork this is the place, it will not disappoint. My favorite is the mojo pork and yellow rice/black beans! What the heck happened to Ybor Grille in Ruskin? We have been there several times since moving to Apollo Beach over a year ago. Tonight was a disaster. My husband was so happy to order meatloaf, cabbage with bacon and mashed potatoes. So much so he taunted me about it before dinner came. I ordered a cuban and spanish potatoes (chips). He tried to eat his dinner then stopped and said "they need to train their new chef". He said his dinner was terrible, not one item could he eat. I understood because my cuban arrived pressed but cold and sparce. The potatoes (my favorite) were stale and had no spices on them. We waited and waited for at least 20 minutes to get our waitress's attention. She never came back to check on us after we got our food. I even had to ask a different waitress for the check. I took half of my sandwich home because I knew I could fix it. So $40 spent and lesson learned. The company we have coming next week will not be going to Ybor Grill nor will my husband ever return. Too bad because it used to be very good. read more

We stopped into this place on a whim, aesthetically it looks and feels great. Nice indoor seating, seated quickly and service was ok. The good on the other hand left much to be desired. The baked chicken was very dry, rice and beans I felt needed more flavor. Everything was under seasoned or bland. All of our food was just ok. I expected more flavor and authentic flavor, the food had neither. We would not plan to go To this place and will probably skip it if we were in the area. We may give this place one more shot, as every place has an off day. The first go around wasn't the greatest experience in regards to delicious food. Second visit to this eatery. This time we were a party of 4 on a Friday night. We arrived fairly early for dinner (5:30) but because of the location to the retiree mecca ; Sun City Del Webb, the place was packed full to capacity. I like that you are greeted and seated by a hostess. We had a corner table but were waited on quickly. Strong drinks came quickly. TGIF- our party had Mojitos (slightly sweet), Margarita (tall glass and generous pour), and sangria. If you like sangria, try it here. Great flavor and not syrupy sweet. The appetizer ordered were the deviled crab. 4 plump & tasty turds of crabby goodness. We all commented on the abundance of flaky crab and very little filler (breading). I ordered the grouper special with two sides. Garlic mashed potatoes were some good comfort food after a really busy and labor intensive week. I earned every one of those carb laden spoonfuls i shoveled down before my husband started stealing bites. The grouper special had two huge filets with four big shrimps on top as an added bonus . A creamy sauce covered it all. Everyone was happy and more than satisfied with their entrees. No dessert this time as we were celebrating a bday in our group and had cake waiting at home We like having a good solid restaurant and bar near home since the area is lacking more of these types of restaurants. They blew it out of the park. Authentic Cuban roast pork. The Moho was the crowning glory. Ate the whole thing. We were stuffed but would do it again in a heartbeat. Fantastic service and good food. I saw many reviews about the yuca. I've never had yuca so I gave it a try- it's delicious! It's like buttery, garlic mashed potatoes but has a root vegetable texture. Very tasty. I also tried the plantains and crab appetizer. The crab was good but a little too filling for 1 person, be sure to share. It's was like a giant hush puppy with red sauce and crab inside. The plantains were like others I've had before but also good so no complaints. One note was that two people in my group frequent this restaurant and said the rice has "changed". It "used to be more flavorful" but this time was "bland and kind of dry". They both liked the rest of their meals (arroz con pollo and taste of ybor) though. They have Cigar City Jai Alai on draft so that was a plus! Oh and the olive butter that comes out with the bread is pretty good too! read more

We both ordered pork in rice bowls with black beans and plantains. Delicious, and plentiful! The pork was cooked perfectly and the plantains were great! I had lunch for the next day! They moved, along with the nicer dining setting, and nice pot hole free parking is a large price hike in the same semi-small portions and hard as rock potato chips instead of a side of fries. If you ask for fries, an additional $2.00 fee is added to an already over priced meal. Do yourself a favor and go to La Septema where Causeway turns to Lumsden. Don't worry the staff will be a mixture of snobs and friendly servers just like at the Ybor Grille. At least at La Septima, the food will taste better and the prices lower. No Gawd awful chips! When they changed their location, they should have changed the name to Ruskin Grille. This dive is nothing like an Ybor City eatery, not even close. read more
