tl;dr the bagel sandwiches are serviceably forgettable at best, and regrettably overpriced at worst Surprisingly few bagel-ries in Los Angeles are decidedly New York in style, but one shop with an NY bent is Yeastie Boys Bagels. This hip-hop-inspired pop-up-turned-food truck has garnered a cult following and now operates a fleet across the greater Los Angeles area, and the brand. The irreverent menu has quirky names such as The Cheddy Wap, and Yeastie Boys has made headlines for its collabs with fast food juggernauts like Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. . The West Hollywood location is parked on Melrose, adjacent to the bustling Sunday farmer's market. The black-and-white food truck is decked with cheeky graffiti-style graphics and a font reminiscent of the Beastie Boys' Check Your Head album cover. Beneath the ordering window, an ice-filled drink cooler is stocked with $7 sodas and juices. My partner and I visited for weekend brunch, and the truck boasted a steady stream of both walk-up customers and pre-orders. We opted for The Reubenstein (a pastrami reuben on an inside-out everything bagel) and made it "Heavy" (adding a crispy hash brown). Our order was prepared within 10 minutes, and the pre-sliced sandwich was wrapped securely in butcher paper. Surprisingly, I was most impressed by the hashbrown; it remained crispy against the oily, saucy sandwich. The bagel itself was nothing to write home about, although the ambitious decision to flip the 2 slices inside out resulted in a toast-like texture. The pastrami, while moderately flavorful, was skimpy and unevenly distributed, and the sandwich was dominated by the piquant sauerkraut and Russian dressing. The service was efficient, and our bill ran nearly $20. Perhaps the most generous adjective that I could grant Yeastie Boys' sandwich is "hot". Otherwise, the expensive, messy, and mostly mediocre sandwich left me feeling underwhelmed, and I don't plan to visit again in the future.

I wish I read the reviews before ordering. The worst blandest tasting bagel I've ever tasted. It's too bad too as they have great value and a buy one get one free deal. The strawberry spread was also tasteless or maybe due to being completely overpowered by the schmear. A total let down. Stick to pop's!

I'm on the search for a good LA bagel after living in New York for 10 years so I feel like this review is a bit biased. Solid bagels but nothing to rave about. The bagels looked large but they had no bounce to them. They were soft and just smashed down. I like my bagel with a nice crusty outside and soft inside. Yeastie boys was more soft all around. Sandwiches were very saucey but good flavor.

I had a good experience at Yeastie Boys. The food truck is located on the street adjacent to Alfred Coffee shop on Melrose Place. The bagels are delicious. Mine was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. For a food truck, the bagels are good quality. I ordered a bacon, fried egg, and American cheese breakfast bagel sandwich. They have an option to add a double-fried egg and crispy hash brown which they call "Make It Heavy." Next time I will try that and I'm sure the sandwich itself will be substantial. They have an assortment of canned and bottled soft drinks and freshly squeezed fruit juice. Seating is also available along the street, however you'd be competing for a seat with Alfred's customers who sit for a while to socialize or get work done. On this visit there were a few of Alfred's customers seated outside with laptops. The truck seems well maintained and looks inviting. Overall, a very good experience and I will visit again when on this side of town.

Mike-D-licious....? The bagels are swole and impressive to the eye in size and topping magnitude. Yet they don't quite live up to that where the rubber meets the road for the taste buds. A bit off.....sabotage?

    Sesame bagel with butter

Usually love this place, however after receiving my sesame bagel with butter, incredibly simple, and seeing the laziness of the limited butter spread about really disappointed me. What was once a staple place for me, don't think I'll be coming back.

Getting to the truck is hard but I was able to order and get a BOGO deal on the game over. It was a really hearty sandwich and lasted me two meals each which was nice. I'm not sure it's my favorite sandwich in the area but I would probably try some of their others.

I do like how they grill their meat though and they use the tortillas to scoop up the meat on the grill. Thought the al pastor was a bit salty and the cheese did not add much flavor to it, but that's probably a good thing considering the saltiness of the meat. Also, make sure you ask them for pineapples since they did not include it until we asked. They do have them sliced up in a container by the meats. Ambience is very casual and it's a stand while eating type of situation. Service was quick.

These were truly the epitome of street tacos and absolutely nothing about the vibe, the service, and the FOOD, disappointed. Immediately upon arrival, I noticed the long line of people and said to myself, either this place is really good or really slow. It took me longer to decide what I wanted to try than what it took for the line to move and for it to be my turn to order. So yea, these folks are FAST and very courteous as well. They have real Al Pastor on the trompo (the spit) so of course I ordered pastor tacos and a pastor mulita. I also ordered a few SUADERO tacos which you don't find just anywhere. I am still raving about the amount of meat and flavor of the food here, it's insanely delicious. Once you get your food you make your way down to the end of the taco stand where you are met with an amazing array of fresh taco fixings and salsas. The pink creamy-habanero was the best and the green/red salsas followed right behind. I can't wait to go back to this place. It's mind blowing how a stand on the side of the road puts out better quality food than a brick/mortar taco shop..but these guys know exactly what they are doing and it was a pleasure to try their food. 20 out of 10 for this place.

Although I'm guessing can be packed, busy and possible parking issues over there since it's heart of Hollywood so take that into account if driving. I will say from placing my order to delivery it was about an hour. If you do plan on going there, probably order ahead for pick up and time it. Or just do delivery because you can reheat it. So if you're in a time crunch probably not the fastest spot to order from but it's worth it either way. Hopefully the time means they're busy and great to see such a place thriving if so! Everything I had was absolutely delicious! So flavourful and I got a few things that I haven't had before from other Himalayan spots like the hakka noodles and jhol momo. My usual spot for Himalayan was always Himalayan House which is a decent but this truck is now my go-to for Himalayan food. Chicken chilly is one of my favourite dishes and this one was so balanced and spiced to perfection! Absolutely delicious and the chilly momo were just as great! The madras, butter chicken & jhol momo were sensational and the sauces were so comforting and silky. Everything had such different flavour and profile that it was great switching bites between them for the variety. The hakka noodles were great with a really lovely spice blend and just enough heat. I also love when a place has pani puri so I HAD to get that. One of my faves and oddly sometimes hard to find around LA. Overall, this was an excellent spot!! If you've got the time and willing to wait (or order ahead), it's absolutely delish and worth every second! Plus the reheat-ability for leftovers (if you even have them after first bite) is a major plus too. I really hope they do well and stick around because going to Hollywood to hangout with friends this will be a pre-hangout spot to eat in my rotation due to location/general area of service.

The truck offers a fusion of Mex-Cali style gourmet comfort food... can a food truck serve Kobe beef, let alone good filet mignon? Really?! The menu looks tempting but the prices are exorbitant to the portion. $25 for a Lobster Quesadilla... what!?! I can't image how much lobster you get for that price, even Cousins Maine Lobster Food Truck's & Roll'n Lobster Food Truck's are half that. :-O It was late into lunch & I had a meeting so I ordered the KOBE PATTY MELT (kobe patty, sharp cheddar cheese, brioche toast). Ordering was fast & friendly, however, it was a bit of wait for delivery. My co-worker obviously received his loaded fries before me because he was ahead of me. There were 2 customers behind me that received their order before me. \(`0´)/WTH!?! When I finally got my sandwich, I was not impressed. It just looks like a regular burger patty. Kobe beef is a delicacy, known & valued for its fatty, well-marbled texture, flavor, & tenderness. Kobe beef is Wagyu beef from the Tajima strain of Japanese Black cattle, raised in Japan's Hyōgo Prefecture. If this is Kobe, which it isn't, then it's an injustice to the cow to be made as a patty melt; due to its scarcity, there are only 9 restaurants that serve Kobe beef as far as I'm aware of. It could be Wagyu, but it's not of quality like HiHo Cheeseburger, & my patty was overcooked... it might have tasted better at medium or medium-well. This patty melt didn't have any of the qualities of real Kobe beef, nor Wagyu beef, which I have had many times in different variations. The sharp cheddar provided a nice pungent flavor to the sandwich & the brioche toast held up well from start to finish, as it should since the meat was neither tender or juicy. It's a decent patty melt that needs to be renamed/named properly because calling this Kobe is a misnomer due to its scarcity. A touch of caramelized onions would also add some sweetness & texture to contrast the saltiness of the cheese. I felt the sandwich curbed my hunger pangs but didn't satisfy the foodie in me. With remarkably higher prices that most of the regular trucks, I do not find myself tempted to try their menu again. Recommended: Kobe Patty Melt that's not authentic Kobe.
