I always like Einstein for their great selections and made to order bagels. This one in mid-Wilshire is no exception. All food items have become pricier in recent years so bagels sandwiches will cost you $7-10 each here, which is still reasonable compared to what you have to spend in this area. The store had many seats and can accommodate a large number of customers inside. Some of their furniture can use a replacement/reupholstery. I went to Einstein Bro Bagels at the Mid-Wilshire location for the first time this past weekend, and the food was really good. The place was super busy, the staff was very friendly, and overall I had a great experience. But it looked like they were short-staffed, and because it was so busy, some people who ordered online were complaining that they had to wait over 30 minutes. It seemed like they were also preparing a big catering order, so that probably made things even busier. The bagels were great, the store atmosphere was nice, and I personally liked it a lot. This morning, we had a family breakfast together at Einstein Bros. Bagels. I recently saw a post on social media and found a good deal. Until March 31th, if you download the Einstein app and place an order through it, you can get a Baker's Dozen with 2 shmears for just $10. It's an amazing deal. So we decided to try it out on a Sunday morning. The deal worked exactly as advertised, and I only ordered mocha coffee separately at the store. For the bagels and 2 shmears, I originally ordered Honey Almond and Strawberry through the app. Unfortunately, they were out of Honey Almond, so I switched to Plain at the store --but the Plain was still absolutely delicious. As for the mocha coffee, it was $5.79 for a medium (each), and it was really good as well. And I definitely want to give a big shout-out to one of the employees today--Anthony. He was incredibly kind and friendly. I asked for paper plates and a knife to cut the bagels, and he helped me so nicely. He also took the time to explain how to use the app in a very patient and helpful way when I asked him. cf) My mom asked my brother to give one of the bagels to a homeless person right outside the shop, and I saw how much he enjoyed it. read more

Einstein Bros. Bagels is within walking distance of me, so I finally stopped in. Honestly? Not impressed. I ordered an everything bagel with sour cream & onion shmear and a coffee. I was handed an empty cup and told they'd call my order. No explanation that the coffee was self-serve and tucked around the corner -- which I only figured out after asking. The coffee itself was barely lukewarm. When my name was called, I grabbed my bagel and went for a napkin. The dispenser was empty. Everyone behind the counter seemed too busy to notice customers. I asked two people for a napkin. One of them grabbed the empty dispenser, shoved it at someone pushing a cart, and barked instructions in another language. I stood there waiting. Nothing. I finally asked someone else for a napkin and was snapped at that they'd call my order. I told her I already had my order -- I just needed a napkin. She apologized and got me one. I'm officially in my bagel-and-smoked-salmon era after coming back from NYC. And now I'm on a mission to find the best lox bagel in LA. I haven't tried every bagel spot in the city yet, but this place is first on my list since it's close to my workplace. I've passed by it plenty of times before but never really cared for bagels like this -- until now. So I finally gave in and ordered their lox bagel. I'm pretty specific with how I like it: more smoked salmon than cream cheese, and lightly toasted -- I prefer the bagel soft, not overly crisp. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. It hit the spot. The balance was good, and it definitely satisfied my NYC cravings. I'll absolutely be back, and next time I might dine in to see how the full experience feels. Delicious bagels! There is a wide variety of bagels and schmears to choose from. My favorite thus far is the cheddar jalapeño. The app is also pretty easy to use. When you sign up you get a free bagel with schmear. This is my favorite new bagel spot. I will be back! read more

Service was very fast, came in a Monday morning and waited 5-8 for my bagels and drink. The inside has a formal coffee shop ambiance think Starbucks or Panera. Went on a Sunday at 6:30am. I'm glad that I did because the street paid parking looks like it would be a hassle during the day. But I was able to find a spot right in front of the place! Watched the workers there doing an order, it took a little bit, but I think they were busy, but they eventually came to the register to help. I think they thought I was there to pick up an order :p all good! I got the Nova Lox, 6 assorted bagels with strawberry cream, and a large coffee. The Nova Lox was quite tasty and the coffee tasted fresh. Not a gourmet coffee, but coffee from a self serve station. When I saw the station I was concerned because most of the time it's overly brewed or old. But the coffee was good. The assorted bagels that I got, were all fresh and tasted good. The ambiance was an early morning vibe where people were there just picking up and on the go. There was plenty of seating and it did look like a place to sit and hang. I got my order to go. One star is generous. I went to Einstein Bros Bagels expecting a decent breakfast, but the experience was honestly awful. The food tasted low quality--like something you'd expect from a frozen meal aisle. The bagels didn't even have the texture or flavor of a real bagel; I've had better from cheap grocery store packs. The avocado was borderline rotten, and the eggs and sausage tasted like they came straight from the freezer. I asked for cream cheese and got barely a smear--just sad. The lattes were completely watered down and flavorless. The only bright spot was the young cashier who helped me--she was lovely and very sweet. Initially, I was excited about Einstein Bros. Bagels when it first arrived in the Walnut neighborhood. The first few visits were great! However, all of our subsequent visits have been subpar. This last visit was the final straw! I placed an online order. My daughter went to pick it up. I literally just opened the bag and found ANOTHER WRONG FRICKIN' ORDER!!! FFS, I had to jump on Yelp to vent my frustration (I'm pissed off beyond all pissed-tivity!). Every order has been incorrect in one form or another. like every other toxic relationship, it started out small, like the wrong bagel or added shmere when I didn't want any. Then it escalated to major issues, like a turkey sandwich with no turkey! Today's order was no exception to the declining service I've been receiving. They got the cheese incorrect (American instead of cheddar, blech!), no extra bacon (don't judge me!), and chocolate cookies instead of the twice baked potatoes. I ordered three so they intentionally placed three in the bag. I would be drug testing these employees at this point because ARE YOU HIGH!? Not to mention the salty servers who literally look like they are miserable and could care less about you or their job. Spare yourself the calories and the frustration, or, if must go to Einstein Bagels, check your order twice before walking out of the store because it will more than likely be something else other than what you ordered. Einstein Bros. Bagels (formerly Manhattan Bagel) on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City is a franchise but they're a classic bagel. A bit crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I think Manhattan Bagel water boils their bagels before baking them and Einstein Bros. Bagels doesn't. I prefer a water boiled bagel first. But Einstein Bros. Bagel is as classic of a NYC bagel you're going to find in Studio City. Service can be confusing and slow at this location but the owners and staff are friendly and try hard to serve their customers well. If you're a regular, you get in the groove of which line to get in to order and where to stand while you're waiting on your order. To the newcomers, walk in with a dose of patience. I like their bagels toasted with cream cheese or with butter. Their sausage (or bacon), egg and cheese on your choice of bagel is always satisfying. Their bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers is a favorite too. I tend to order their dark roast brew which is robust and delicious. But their iced vanilla cold brew is a good choice as well. If there's any in the basket, in front of the register, add a chocolate chip cookie to your order. They're yummy!
