Love this place. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Roasted lamb special was tender and succulent. The greek salad is fresh crunchy and perfectly dressed with fresh lemon juice and olive oil and the tomatoes were like a taste of summer and even in Manhattan that is hard to find in late March. read more

Yefsi is an Upper East Side treasure. I have been here more than a half-a-dozen time. The food is consistently delicious and they have a nice selection of Mediterranean wines. The platter of Greek spreads is a must- the spicy feta dip that comes with it is outrageously good. I get that every time I come along with the grilled octopus and the Greek Lima beans. Everyone I have brought here has become hooked and either returns with me or on their own. If you are just a group of two, I suggest sitting at the bar. The bartenders are usually attentive and chatty. This place is packed even on a Tuesday night in the middle of the summer so I suggest making a reservation on OpenTable. read more

Grilled with a mustardy type sauce and not chewy at all. My bf and I had the whole fish snapper special which came with 2 sides. We chose the spanakorizo - spinach and rice along with steamed greens. The fish was prepared to perfection, moist and flavored perfectly. The spanakorizo is like the greek version of mac n cheese....its creamy deliciousness. The greens were a little salty but ok. The desert was a trio of greek yogurt, a pastry and a piece of cake. The yogurt was my favorite. The restaurant is fairly priced and worth every penny. read more

The mosharaki and the crabcake were my favorites, both are really tasty. The grilled baby lambchops were okay, they needed a sauce or something. This place is incredible! The freshest, most deliciously prepared foods. From the tzadiki, Greek salads, fish, lamb, and desserts, it exceeds expectations. I have eaten here several times and love it. The salmon entree is may be the best I've ever had. My friend had the lamb and couldn't believe how tasty it was. Consistently amazing food every time I go. I always get the greek salad and the chicken kebobs with lemon potatoes, and they are always delicious! The lemon potatoes are by far my favorite thing here. I have also tried the pork chop which is a special occasionally, and it was the best pork chop I have ever had--so juicy and flavorful. I don't eat fish, but everyone I have come with raves about the octopus. The feta appetizer is also really great. Yefsi never disappoints. Today I hosted a large brunch there and everyone enjoyed their meals. The beet salad is my favorite, sweet with the spanakopita! The grilled calamari and lemon chicken soup are also must haves, be sure to go with an appetite. We will be back for sure! read more

We ate here last night, on the new year's eve. Ordered the zucchini keftedes, octopus, shrimps & beans, lamb chops and the grilled salmon. Everything was extaordinary! I would have left 4 stars except for bait an switch tactics. We ordered a wine and owner came over and said they did not have the bottle that we ordered. He offered a replacement Greek chardonnay for $76 and said that wine was a 96 rating by Wine Spectator. It was mediocre at best. When I got home I checked WS and surprise, surprise 85 rating. Not only that when I checked online the wine was priced at $18.00. Food was good but very noisy and crowded. read more

I come here very often as my business is close by--this evening before I came I double checked the hours on yelp to make sure it wasn't too late to come in. Hours said open until 10:30pm so figured we'd def make it on time. Walked in at 9:55pm and the hostess said the kitchen was closed and we couldn't be seated. Pretty inconvenient to be sent away before 10pm when the hours say until 10:30. If the kitchen closes by 10, the hours should say open until 10pm. Idk maybe I'm just hangry. read more

Yes it's on York Ave, but this food is what Trata used to be years ago... Lots of excellent mezze and totally reasonable mains. The wine list is short but the bottle the waiter suggested was great with the food. Recommended dishes: Octopus, pita with dips (red pepper feta spread!), meatballs, green beans, and any of the fish. Wonderful gem. Been here a few times and always leave very satisfied. My favorite appetizer is the FETA STO FOURNO, an amazing baked feta dish. For entree I always get LAVRAKI, which is perfectly moist and tender. Get some delicious greek wine while you are there, too! It definitively adds to the meal. read more

Been here three times, once with a Groupon, which is a great deal. You have to call in your reservation and let them know it is a Groupon, do not Open Table it as they will not honor the Groupon then. The food is excellent! Chrstos uses very fresh ingredients, and mixes between traditional Greek and innovative twists on menu items. The calamari is consistently amongst the best I have ever had, with just the slightest amount of breading. The Saganaki and Haloumi are very tasty cheese appetizers. Highly recommended dishes include the lamb kabobs, and the Plaki, which is striped bass. There is a family feel to the restaurant, and you can sense a warmth here for regular customers. read more

A neighborhood place. We were disappointed. Not the quality Greek I was expecting. Octopus was mushy, not thick and tender, and it's sauce was actually sweet and dominated by onions not octopus. My Greek wife didn't eat it. Portions are small, particularly the mezzes. Fishes are small as well; can't really share them -- and the waiter emphasizes they are "for one". Though we ordered enough other food and did share the small fish. I've never had saganaki not flaming (not even in Greece) although I'll admit the "pie" style was good. Just not saganaki. Sadly the lavraki (fish) was overcooked. The dandelion greens and spinach w/ rice were both fine. One more thing. Service was remarkably rushed, like they needed the table (in the enclosed outdoor space which was pleasant), but they didn't. Our first two courses were cleared within 15 minutes of ordering which made us request a temporary halt to further deliveries. This detracted. In Zagat parlance the four of us gave the food 18. Its a good neighborhood place, but not a destination. And the service 15. The garden room was pleasant. So, conclusion overall, no rush to go back but I would eat there if we were needing a place within a few blocks. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Yefsi - which has proven to be a very popular spot in the neighbourhood. All the dishes we had were fantastic - in particular the Yefsi chips and feta salad. The grilled fish was by far the best I have had since moving to NYC both in terms of quality and preparation. The medium sweet Greek coffee and greek yoghurt with honey and cherries was the perfect way to end a very good meal. Will definitely be returning to this local spot. read more

Greek food does not get better than this. Everything was done perfectly. The seafood salad had unbelievable octopus, shrimp and scallops. The shrimp were by far the best shrimp I ever had. Shrimp is like chicken, never good. I would have preferred to just have the whole octopus, because this octopus was as good as seafood could possibly get.
