Tried it for lunch again during the week. Fascinating place Before 12 and the average age is 60 to dead. Yea! I'm the youngest person Then at noon high school let's out and suddenly I'M the oldest person here. For the record , I was also the only man in the place. No matter what age demographic , this place skews heavily female. I still think it's expensive for what you get and the ice tea is sweetened ! Did NOT expect that. If you've never been to a Yellow Vase, you order and pay upfront at the counter, and take a number on a stand to your table. When your order is ready, it's delivered to your table. You can choose where you'd like to sit. Seat yourself. I like the convenience of this location and having a place to come sit and enjoy a delicious cup of latte and delightful dessert treat. There's always a lovely design made in my drink. Like all the other Yellow Vases, the interior is delightful. Yellows and whites. It's the perfect place to meet with friends and family. I have to admit though, breakfast and lunch food items aren't all that great tasting. Disappointing, actually. The staff try their best to keep up the French cafe theme. read more

I was in the area near Terranea and I passed one of their locations on the way. Curious, I looked into this and realized they had more than a few, including one within walking distance. Easy parking in this lot, which contained a lot of other stores. Yellow Vase was easy to find due to the...yellow umbrellas. There were only a handful of people inside, with some on the outside patio. I wasn't sure what to go with since I had a couple of things I wanted to try, but I ended up with the Turkey panini which came with a side salad (not a fan of that but I didn't really have a choice). They did have chips to purchase, but they were flavors that wouldn't have gone with my selection, so I just dealt accordingly. Prices here seemed appropriate for the area (probably higher than they should be but it's to be expected). Food was brought out shortly, and I pretty much ate everything, considering I was planning on saving the other half for later. I'd probably get something different next time, but my first visit to Yellow Vase definitely warrants a second. read more

I usually like the other locations but I have recently been going to this one. When I went in this afternoon, there was no line so I went up to order. But Nimrod (as it says on the receipt) kept bringing people to the line and helping them first which I found to be odd. That was fine as I placed my order after he helped 2 different parties before me even though there was no still no line in front of me. I ordered my lunch items and asked for 2 cups of hot water. What I found to be super odd was he didn't show me my total or flip his screen until I paid and the tip options came up. I tipped and got my receipt which is when he went to go get my waters. I saw that he had charged me for the hot waters. The whole interaction felt odd so I asked why he didn't tell me there was an extra charge as I would've just gotten a hot tea or coffee if I was paying for tap water. It felt as if he was trying to not disclose that. Another worker came up and I told her I'll pay the difference for the tea and told them how shady that whole interaction felt. An unpleasant experience as it felt like Nimrod was adding charges without customers knowing. It makes me think of the times I've asked for an extra side of syrup for my French toast or dressing for my salad and how they have probably charged me without disclosing the extra charges. I don't mind paying for them, just feels shady and I don't want to support a business like that. Definitely will not be coming back. read more

This is the new Yellow Vase up here on the hill. It is located in the Peninsula Center, over by the side entrance to Target, and next to Old Navy, so it is very easy to find. The Peninsula Center obviously has a very large parking lot, so finding a spot should never be an issue. For those of you who know Yellow Vase, what they offer here is the same as what is presented at all of their other locations. They have their great lattes, their tasty bakery items, and their various meals. So, if you want to come here for a pick-me-up, a snack, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they have you covered. In terms of the layout of this location, they have a very well-designed interior space. They also have a nice, fenced off, patio space. Plus, they have a few tables out in front and over to the side of entrance, so there is a lot of table space to enjoy your meal or to hang out and talk with your friends or family. Overall, like most of the Yellow Vase locations, this is a very nice food-service space. It's well designed and you can get all of the things Yellow Vase is known for. read more

Strangely uncomfortable experience at this Yellow Vase on 7/9/24. One of the orders came out not what we wanted, and the lady who took the order seemed almost angry and argued that our friend who had gone up to the counter to order for the group, had ordered wrong. She said "I repeated the order back to you!" with a mean glare. Regardless of any correction or no correction, I was taken back by her unfriendly attitude. The friend ended up ordering the item again and paying full price again, with zero accommodation. In the mean time, I asked for 3 more forks, and the male staff said "I already gave them to you," looked over at our table and did a headcount, to make a point that he gave us one per person. And then he gave me 2. We had kids wanting variety of dishes (red, white, green pasta per kid!) so I was using some forks as serving utensils... and we needed to reorder the wrong order because kids were waiting for them... Otherwise we wouldn't have paid to reorder as well as wait again from here. The food tasted mostly good, but I did not have an enjoyable experience and will not be back. read more

Cute little French cafe with nice ambience both inside and outside. My mom suggested this place on a nice Sunday. I am pushing 60, was like younger than 85% of the clientele, says a bit. Had a nice Greek salad worthy four stars. Cappuccino was a disappointment and just three stars. Between the disappointment with the cappuccino and price value is the reason for three star review. The cafe is located in an internal street of the shopping center with the nearest parking on the west side. I was in the area researching summer break coding camps just a couple of doors down, & the kiddos were either hungry or the baked goods display caught their eyes as we strolled by. Upon entry, you're hit with this bright & airy space -- lotsa yellows & whites -- that's filled with delish scents wafting from the kitchen; in my mind, I gotta have some of that, whatever that is. ;-) Our initial visit was last 04/2022 so their cute Easter decor was still up. Although they're a sit-down cafe, you need to go to the counter to place your order, a # stand is given after payment, then you find an open table & your order to brought to you. It reminds me of Father's Office... should you place an order if you can't find a seat? We were right in the middle of lunch rush & didn't see an open table. I nudged my eldest to run & grab the patio table after someone stood up while I waited in line. The wait wasn't really long to place our order & the food arrived fairly quick, but the table needed to bussed & we needed utensils. H & M are breakfast treats/desserts (i.e. pancakes, waffles, french toasts, etc.) fans so they were especially delighted for their entree... what's even better is the blueberry tart accompaniment! I kept hearing "mmms" in-between bites so I asked if Yellow Vase exceeds their expectations &/or overtakes their fav breakfast spot; M said no, & H disagreed. While it's not exactly an apples-to-apples (unintended pun) comparison, they both had valid points of why one TP is superior to or worse than YV; now they just have an extra breakfast spot to choose from. IMO one has a more expansive yet flavorful & less expensive menu, while the other has a limited yet pricier well-executed menu with a bakery that has delightful treats. I like the grilled/nicely pressed panini with that perfectly toasted crunch... no wow factor, just a simple sandwich with a complementary marriage of ingredients that just satisfies one's hunger. Same with the blueberry tart... just a well-made, no pizazz. Kids loved it though... it's dessert. There's no actual service once your order arrives. I'm not sure about the coffee, but you refill your own cup at the water station that may or may not have filled water pitchers. A sizable menu for the fast-casual space, with moderate - high prices; it's not a frequent stopover but definitely worthy of a visit or 2 at this brunch spot. Yellow Vase is definitely a cafe to chillax. And it's also a regular spot for my bosses since they live up on the hill. I no longer work in the area (my temporary office used to be just 1/3-mi. away), & will likely be in the area for summer camp or my son's Cantonese class. I visited your restaurant today with a friend and was disappointed by the service, which is surprising as I am a regular customer and have never experienced this before. We ordered two breakfast meals with coffee. I requested 2nd refill for the coffee, and specifying that I'd like it diluted with some hot water. However, I wasn't informed that there would be an additional charge for this. Instead, I overheard the staff discussing the charge in Spanish, perhaps assuming I wouldn't understand. Only after handing me the coffee did they inform me it would cost an additional dollar. If there is a charge for coffee refills, that information should be communicated upfront, not discussed among the staff. I've never been to a restaurant that charges for a basic coffee refill, so this caught me off guard. The dollar charge itself isn't the issue, but the way it was handled left a negative impression. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reconsider returning to your restaurant. read more

The Peninsula, Rolling, Hills location is my favorite of all the others because they are always the most patient and friendliest and they serve your food promptly and always fresh cooked perfectly :) I had breakfast one day and the next came back for lunch . Let me start with the breakfast , one of my go to breakfast on the menu is the 2 BY 2- 2 Pieces of French toast, 2 eggs, bacon or chicken sausage served with rosemary potatoes and fresh baguette. The French toast is always delicious, just enough sweetness and the cooked perfectly, I had crispy bacon - not fatty and I also had the chicken sausage because I could t decide so they let me choose both :) and the chicken sausage is really flavorful, really good too! And they cooked my eggs exactly as I asked and the potatoes were also very very good . I was too full to eat the sliced baguette bread it came with, but I took it home and it was still so soft and fresh and of course delicious. I came with some friends and they ordered Quiche Du Jour-Lorraine And another order the Quiche Vegetable . They said it tasted as good as it looked - which it looked yummy - all that goodness sitting in a flaky pie crust . It came with a fresh made salad. Another friend has ordered the Croissant Sandwich Scrambled eggs, cheese, and choice of spinach or bacon or both. The bacon was nice and crispy , and eggs vice and fluffy and the croissant was fresh and flaky , great breakfast sandwich! The breakfast here is pretty good, i would recommend, it's cute and casual . When you walk in the menus are sitting on a table as you enter with beautiful yellow flowers and you place your order at the counter - the one surrounded with wonderful delicious pastries & desserts. They give you a number place card, they they will bring your food out to you . You sit wherever you choose- they have inside seating and tented patio seating. I came back the next day for lunch :) We ordered Beef Bourguigno- Tender chunk of beef braised in rich red wine sauce with mushrooms in a sourdough bread bowl- the meat was really tender and flavorful and loved that it was in a Sourdough bread bowl , the bread was so soft and fresh, was really good Chicken Panini- Grilled chicken breast, sun-dried tomato, artichoke hearts, fontina cheese and pesto dressed with their house spread on ciabatta bread. This is one my favorite sandwiches here (minus artichoke hearts. I opted not to have) the chicken is moist , and love the sun-dried tomatoes, and the pesto is nicely spread, not overpowering, and not too little just the right amount and of course the ciabatta bread was nice and fresh. It's a really fresh delicious sandwich. Side of Onion soup - It's not just a flavored onion broth with a few onions. It actually has quite a bit of onions, just as an onion soup should be , lol And now dessert- Flan- homemade was very fresh and good and a chocolate chip cookie- was more of a fluffy fat chocolate chip cookie. Packed to go a Blueberry and cranberry scone - didn't try the scones till later and they ended up being a little dry and a a little hard - I'm sure if I had tried it there at ordered tasted a lot fresher, but that's my fault for not trying when it was probably more fresher.but I also brought home maple covered mini donut and chocolate covered mini donut- very soft and very delicious. I will, of course be back as I have many times to have a nice casual breakfast or lunch and they are now open a little bit later for those of you who want a more casual dinner . I went to this restaurant based off of the 26 reviews I had seen before this morning. I ordered for my whole family and they were satisfied somewhat with their food, I on the other hand was not. I ended up being charged for extra items instead of substitutions and say ordered two drinks that were awful. Good was 100% not considered 4.5 stars... after my drinks were messed up and the additional drinks weren't fixed or comped I was a little in shock. Eggs were okay, chicken sausage was dry and cold. it is my first time visit this restaurant yesterday 1/15/26. the ambience is really nice. I could give it a 4.5. The food I order is about a 4. The service is poor. I told the server the table I took outside by the window wall needs to be cleaned, and he never came to clean for the entire time. I had to go search for napkin and cleaned my self so I can put my device and notebooks on the table. And later when I came in after at least over 10 min, I run into him and told him I was waiting for him to clean the table and did not see him. He did not show any kind of correction gesture, and not ever apologized even a bit. and I went there after 2:30pm. they were not very busy. So I feel either that person was so depressed or do not care to work there. Or is he had a such bad day so he was that way? We had two cups of coffee and two small breakfast orders...$40! Coffee was served in a small cup and no free refills offered. Not highly recommended: very noisy due to the continual noise of the coffee bean grinder. My croissant sandwich was small and greasy. My friend ordered an egg platter that was mostly potatoes and inedible salad. Rather unpleasant and hard to understand little man taking orders at the register. Let me start by saying I am no stranger when it comes to dining at the Yellow Vase. I have been a visitor since the original one opened in Redondo Beach, and was an old regular at the Hermosa Beach location . I've visited the locations in Palos Verdes as well but I feel the newest location which is this one will be my absolute favorite. Today I steered away from my regular Monte Cristol and yellow vase golden milk latte for a Wow burger and Peach Tea. My mom was visiting for her first time here and decided to try their Chinese chicken salad. I figured since they offered a larger variety to try something different especially since it was lunch time. When it comes to food portion sizes here they are very generous and my partner and I usually order multiple items and split plates. To my surprise once our food was brought to us they did not fall short. My burger was very juicy , flavorful and a great portion size with a large amount of fries. My moms Chinese chicken salad was vibrant, smelled great , was fresh and absolutely delicious. Her chicken cut slices were very generous and she loved having her dressing on the side instead of drowning your salad. I was able to steal a piece of chicken off her plate which was well seasoned, moist and juicy. Customer service was truly amazing since all employees were attentive, helpful, and very polite and personable . The young lady who took my order shared a similar love of Halloween all year round like myself but I unfortunately never got her name but she was very personable. While we dined customer service shined as we watched how multiple employees helped with each table and checking on its guest. Great team work ladies I was throughly impressed watching you all work together well. My overall experience is I am very impressed with this new location and will be a new regular here. If your ever on the Hill I definitely recommend visiting here. A perfect spot for a romantic date, a brunch or dinner with family and friends. No matter the occasion find sometime to come out and dine. They are very accomodating for those of us who need ada accessibility. A great place for a brunch or small snack. Their portions are on the smaller side but they are not lacking flavor. The staff are kind and quiet spoken. In general this place gives off a more quiet vibe. The atmosphere is very bright and uplifting. The tables are kept clean and water is located on the side if the place. When we went, my friend pointed out there is an insane female to male ratio. Idk what the significance of that is, but it seemed important enough for him to point it out. I seemed to order the wrong things here, bc theres not really any recommendations on yelp. But others around me seemed to like to get the dessert items like crepes, pancakes, pastries, and breakfast items and coffee. I recommend you give this place a try. read more

Yellow Vase has a wide variety of dishes, from full breakfast meals to light sandwiches and more. Coming in for breakfast, I tried the veggie omelette, which was perfectly cooked and stuffed with mushrooms, asparagus, spinach, cheese and tomatoes. The potatoes and baguette were nice and fresh, and I really liked the inclusion of a salad with the meal.
