This is a quality Greek restaurant with great food and even better service. My Greek friend took me out to dinner here. I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of food she ordered for the two of us, but she insisted that Greeks like to look out and see a FULL table. My favorite was the platter of different spreads with fresh pita bread triangles. The tzatsiki (yogurt/cucumber) dip, the tyrokafteri (spicy feta cheese) dip, the skordalia (garlic mashed potatoes), the taramosalata (caviar) dip were all phenomenal. My favorite was the taramosalata. We also had the grilled octopus and a platter of deep fried zucchini and eggplant which felt surprisingly light. For my main I ordered the Arnaki Yiouvetsi, a braised lamb shank with orzo. It was DELICIOUS, even though I could only eat a few mouthfuls (I was so full already!) I tried a bite of my friend's baby lamb chops which were tender and flavorful. It was a great meal with even better company! There were three of us. We decided to order just appetizers and a salad. No drinks just water. A plate of octopus and scallops. It came out to a total of 75 dollars with taxes and without the tip. The food was tasty but the portions were small. We got jipped . The portions were for the birds not for grown men. Not worth the money we payed. He just lost three customers. It's hard to make a choice with so many restaurants now on Emmons Avenue. I have been to this restaurant a few years ago and we decided to try it again. It has a beautiful atmosphere with many Greek themed pictures on the wall and Greek music playing over the speakers. Being it was a little bit early we scored a choice table outside. The menu has so many choices and everything sounded so delicious. I decided on the marinated baby lamb chops with vegetables, and my friend had linguini with huge shrimp. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were ample. The wine list was also extensive. The service was wonderful and we were not rushed at all and lingered with dessert and wine. Absolute best place on Emmons Avenue - actually, in all of Brooklyn. The service is amazing. If you can't decide, the servers are extremely helpful and know everything about what's on the menu, and they're FAST! The food is delicious every single time. Also, huge bonus - you can order from the Italian place right next door because both restaurants are owned by the same owner. The food is amazing, the people are so sweet, and the ambiance truly makes you feel like you are in Greece. (2.5) Went here ages ago and found it expensive and just OK. Returned and have a slight review change. It is still ridiculously expensive for Greek but I guess that fits in for the area. My salad with seared salmon was delicious but instead of a salmon filet, I had 3 VERY SMALL pieces of salmon ( think the size of mozzarella sticks). We were there on Mother's Day, and I just read a review from Natalie.R about her complain. We were getting to our table and I saw everything, the hostess ask in normal way to move the stroller, so other people can pass by, my mother could not go through, the owner of the stroller became very irate and obnoxious, very rude not the hostess. Walked around one Sunday afternoon in Sheepshead bay and ventured into this Greek restaurant! Been here before and once again they did not disappoint. The staff is friendly and the service is accommodating. Their food is delicious and they have an extensive wine menu. Can't single out a dish, but if I had to, I would recommend the Arnaki Yiouvetsi. It's a lamb dish with cheese and orzo baked in a clay pot. I washed it down with Elios wine. Hmm yummy. Takes me back to a local taberna in Athens. Highly recommend this place! read more

5-30-20. Just ordered dinner from Yiasou for delivery. Review will follow after hopefully devouring same. My wife and I just enjoyed an order of fried zucchini and a rack of lamb for two which came with potatoes and vegetables. We agreed---all was well prepared and delicious. We look forward to ordering other dishes from Yiasou during the pandemic and hope we can soon enjoy meals at the restaurant. CAVEAT: As we all know the cost of seafood and meat has increased significantly. Therefore don't rely upon the menu on Yelp---it's outdated. There are Greek deities and landmarks as far as the eye can see all executed in an overly bright paint. Makes me feel like I'm sitting smack dab in the middle of Legends and Myths of ancient Greece, but maybe that's the point. The food is excellent. Their spicy feta spread is incredibly addicting and so tasty that even my 10 year old cousin eats it and lets face it - spicy feta spreads aren't exactly the stuff of kid's menus. They are really good about accommodating special requests about preparation, seasoning and anything else you might want. Their outside patio is a great place to people watch - and people watching in South BK deserves it's own 4 start rating! read more

Went as a group of 6 for sister-in-law's birthday. Food was ok but definitely only 3 stars for the price. My swordfish was overdone, dry and tasteless but they corrected this after I complained and was enjoyable. Ordered a bottle of white wine which came out warm, the waiter was oblivious to this and after trying I asked for a colder one to which he said they don't have. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 3 because the waiter wasn't personable at all and despite waiting a long time for food, dealing with warm wine, and having him lean over people instead of go around the table the waiter had the audacity to say the tip (15%) wasn't enough when we were leaving. This was very awkward. I wouldn't recommend this place and I won't be coming back. For the price there are much better places in the City. read more

I went to this restaurant today and I absolutely loved it! My boyfriend's birthday was today and this Greek restaurant has amazing appetizers from Quail, Oysters and also an interesting selection of spreads (there was one that was a seafood of a sort, feta, cucumber, chick peas, potato, eggplant and then some beets. It was really tasty with pita bread slices and a few olives. I had an amazing dish (which I took home with me) that included lamb, orzo, cheese and an interesting tomatoe sauce as well. My boyfriend had a Sea Bass, his mom had an amazing fish and they were so large that they could have been split. Just note that the fish are cooked whole (eyes and head included). The staff were very nice always making sure we had enough wine, tea and much more. The area has many restaurants and during the summer, I can only imagine how busy it must be. read more

It's a whole new Brooklyn over here. I mean, it's different than most of the Brooklyn the majority of people see. If visitors come this way, they usually stop around Brighton Beach and eat at a Russian eatery. This is the land of fishing trips and party boats and pricey houses over the water. We stopped here because we were in between the aquarium and dropping a friend off at JFK. We were hungry, and so we went to Yiasou for a late lunch. Two of us had salads (very generous) and we all split the Greek dips with pita bread (also very generous). My husband got the lamb and ouso in a clay pot entree. It was very filling and very tasty, according to him. They provided a high chair for the poobah, and everyone was very friendly and pleasant. One amusing scene occurred when a woman came in, sat down, and began looking over the menu. She apparently wanted something more "American" because we overheard the waiters saying that she left because there weren't any fried potatoes and hamburgers on the menu. A derisive "Americans!" followed. I found this funny, but also odd. Aren't most of their customers Americans? I'd expect so, but you never know. I wouldn't come back here JUST to eat at Yiasou, but I'd definitely keep it in mind in case we decide to hang out in Manhattan Beach sometime in the future. read more

As a frequent diner at Yiasou Restaurant, it never seems to disappoint. The must haves are the octopus, pikilia and the horiatiki which are pictured above. We were down from Albany to visit my son, and I had him look on Yelp for good food suggestions in Sheepshead Bay. He found Yiasou Estiatorio, and we were glad he did. My wife won't eat fish far from the Ocean, and this place is perfect for that - you can see the bay out the front window, the fish is caught that day, and live in a fishtank in the restaurant until you or the chef pick it out. It is then cleaned, cooked to perfection, and served whole on your plate. The waiter was excellent, accomodating dietary restrictions, and even suggesting a Greek wine, since were were unfamiliar with the varieties and vineyards. His choice was Terlato's Boutari Moschofilero, a white apertif with sufficient flavor to stand on its own through bread and Greek salad, and complement our fish selections. Note that some of the fish is market-priced and ranged from $22 to $50 - you may want to ask before ordering if this is a concern. Given the quality, it is still a good value, but best not be surprised. read more

I'm a little torn about this place. I want to give them a decent review for the venue, but their food just doesn't make the cut. On the one hand the atmosphere is very nice, and the waiters are engaging and friendly (except for when they disappear and there's nobody nearby to flag down). But as a person who likes my food to have flavor (I know, I'm in the minority), the dishes here are a little bland. They should probably sit down and taste their own entrees once in a while to make sure they're up to par. Last I checked, most Greek people use spices. Also, if you're looking for a full Greek-food experience, this is not the place to get it. While they do have a couple of lamb and meat dishes, seafood makes up most of the menu. read more

Yiasou has been a go-to place for my husband's family for over a decade now. We all love the place and have had nothing but positive experiences every time. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here and I was happy to introduce my family to the restaurant as well. We always get an assortment of appetizers. The combination platter of dips is my favorite part of the meal and I love the taramasalata (sweet and not overly fishy). We also get smoked salmon, grilled octopus (always tender), spanakopita, fried zucchini and eggplant, and the saganaki. We've had the lamb shank with orzo and the shrimp with arborio in clay pots for entrees and those are also great. Desserts are fairly standard. You can get Greek yogurt, baklava, cheesecake, or ice cream and it's all pretty decent. Our waiter, Ozzie, is always excellent. He's so friendly and sweet, but it seems like ownership relies on him a lot which can explain sometimes slow service. He usually has most of the tables and also does the bartending. He won over my uncle at the rehearsal dinner because he offered to give him his extra black tie when he overheard my uncle misplaced his. It can be a little pricey especially with drinks, but Yiasou is consistently good and totally worth it. read more

If I can give this NO star I would. FIRST OFF IF YOU WANT REAL GREEK FOOD DONT COME HERE. For a Saturday night it was dead the server wasn't even attentive. The food let's get back to that. Mussels tasted old and not cleaned properly. The grilled squid looked like a supermarket frozen grass squid the flavor was at a 0 the coloring looks like the grill wasn't even clean. Tzatsiki sauce which is by far the easiest thing to make. Flavorless served with burnt pita. Feta cheese was just that 4 lack luster slices with a lack luster 1 piece of cucumber and the last drop of olive oil. Presentation and flavor was horrible No Greeks actually run / own the restaurant they're all Russian workers. Main reason why the GREEk food doesn't even taste authentic. Yiasou is a great place for a casual dinner. They have great food, and a fabulous wine list. They specialize in fish, which they have a fast selection of. Their salads are delish. I love their hot appetizer of grilled octopus and capers, ahhh its sooo good. They're house salad (named something in Greek is really good too). I can recommend all of their fish, if you're a fish lover, also their lamb chops are a standing out favorite of mine. I love the preparation of all of their dishes, char grilled, and lightly seasoned. Its perfect, and compliments each dish perfectly. They do have Russian waiters if this makes you feel more at home, if not they all speak perfect English so its great! Also on warmer days, they're outdoor seating by the bay is just great, (i wish i was on the Mediterranean...) i love this place, and even though it's a little expensive, they never disappoint. read more

Waiters were very nice even though me and my girl were annoying with questions about the food. The prices for the fish are not listed and everything is based on per pound of the fish. I am also an amateur fish eater, so I wanted my fish cleaned and stuff, and they were very accomodating. The food was pretty good. Branzino was good, not the best I have ever had but still very good. First time trying this Greek restaurant. Although we had lunch here on a busy Saturday in a busy area, my husband and I were the only customers in the entire restaurant, literally. My husband ordered a salad with grilled salmon on top. I ordered a chicken kabob special with rice and veggies. My husband said that his salad was good, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. My chicken was left on the grill a minute or two too long and was just a tad bit dry. The rice served with my meal was cooked perfectly and had a nice buttery flavor. The vegetables were sautéed fresh vegetables, not frozen, which I appreciated. They were cooked al dente, which is how I like them. My husband and I both like our food well-seasoned, so we would have preferred more seasoning on our salmon and chicken, but that is a matter of personal preference. Lets begin with how horrible the service is! The first AND last time I'll be coming here. Was decently busy but not packed! Grew up around Greek food and this is not the spot to go if you're looking for some greek food. We were passing by decided to grab a bite. We ordered a salad, 2 drinks, smoked salmon, potatoes, calamari and requested for some bread. The salad came out first... funky taste for a salad. Then, salmon, decent. Then the potatoes & then the calamari... $15 for a small portion. Our drinks should of been the first thing on the table. Didn't get them until after our food was done...and flat! After I requested for them twice! The waiter was just LOST! The bread was stale, also brought out at the end... literally... after we finished our dishes along with the ketchup which was no longer even needed! lol... Kind of annoyed we just wanted to leave already, asked for the check... took a while to be brought to us. Best part was when we asked the waiter if the accepted cards... he looked at me like I was crazy. I repeated myself 4 times making a hand gesture for him to understand. We also had a cold plate of various types of hummus/dips and the Greek salad. The service was superb and the food was delicious.
