I got the yuzu financier and it felt really stiff and not as moist as I thought it would be. The moment I bit into it I knew I wouldn't like it just based on the texture. It honestly felt and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a few days. My husband got the Oreo cheesecake and he really liked his. I unfortunately haven't been back since I thought it wasn't amazing and they had no seating there. It's a small store front and the owner who was there wasn't very helpful and not the friendliest. Imagine my surprise when I heard they're opening a second location. I'm honestly surprised they're still in business let alone expanding. I've tried their basque cheesecake, madeleines, and canele and they knocked it out the park with all three. They have various flavors for both the cheesecake and Madeline's. As indulgent as they both were, they were thankfully light and not too sweet. I particularly liked their canelé which had just the right texture and crust. SO GOOD!! Get the white chocolate earl grey madeleine!!!! I already love tea flavored desserts but this blew my mind. Such a delicate flavor, but was strong enough to linger in the mouth after you take a bite. The white chocolate layer wasn't too sweet. And the madeleine was super fluffy and moist! I will be returning just for this! The dubai chocolate cheesecake also was such a yummy surprise. There's a thick kadayif or knafeh layer that was super crunchy and added nice texture contrast to the creamy cheesecake. The Varlhona cheesecake was better in my opinion because that chocolate was so decadent and luxurious but not too dense and overwhelming. I've tried their basque cakes and tea cakes multiple times and I finally got to go to their storefront myself! As others mentioned, their storefront is within the residences but it wasn't hard to find as they put out a standing sign outside the door. They had displays of their cake offerings and other items for sale (like canned/bottled drinks and mochi gummies etc). I haven't had one item here that wasn't delicious. My go to are the Earl grey, hojicha and espresso madelines. The white chocolate Earl grey is #1 in my book. The caneles are made to perfection with a crunchy outside and soft inside. I got the strawberry matcha basque cheesecake, strawberry matcha financier, white chocolate early grey Madeline, snickers financier, and yuzu basque cheesecake. Everything was not too sweet and had a lovely subtle flavor! I would definitely come back for the financier tea cakes! Theyre absolutely delicious with the soft tea cake base, chocolate and filling layer, and cream/fruit/nuts on top!! The flavor and texture profiles are amazing making it a real treat. They're also the cutest desserts ever and very visually appealing. The basque cheesecakes and Madeline were very yummy and delicious as well but compared to the financier I'd have to pick the latter. I would definitely still recommend that you try at least 1 item from each category if you go though because it is all so delicious and you can tell a lot of care and quality went into making these desserts! They were super nice, patient, and informative when I went since I knew I wanted to try a bit of everything but was unsure about what flavors to get, so if you are like me and want recommendations I would definitely not be shy to ask whoever is working! I got a slice of cheesecake, and it was delicious--dense but super fresh, and you could tell it was made with quality ingredients. Really rich flavor, not too sweet, just right. The location is a little unexpected--it almost feels like you're pulling into an apartment complex--but it's actually a small business spot with a cozy vibe. They even had little samples of each cheesecake flavor available, which was a nice touch. They also offer other cakes and treats. Service was quick and friendly. The Cakery is a professional, high class bakery and cafe. We ordered the black sesame cheesecake- gluten free. The cake was ready on time, super fresh and very delicious. Celine was very kind and helpful when ordering. The reason for the 4/5 stars is because I had requested the ingredients for the cheesecake and was told they only provide the allergens not the full ingredients. I was not aware that food establishments are allowed to withhold that information to a paying customer who requests this. Why not the transparency? I was not looking for the recipe. The store is located amongst some condos so it's kind of isolated and has plenty of parking outside. The shop is very minimalistic and has a soothing interior. The owners are very nice and friendly. We have tried their yuzu cheesecake and some madeleines. I like that the cheesecake has a thin short crust layer that is not soggy. The yuzu layer was just tart enough and helped cut into the heaviness of cheesecake. The cheesecake itself is very creamy so I would probably share a slice between 3-4 people as it is very indulgent! I love that the madeleines are individually packaged and they are so light with a little filling inside. It wasn't too sweet despite the layer of chocolate on the top. I was in town visiting family and had the chance to swing by their Saturday pop up! Initially, I found this small business on yelp when searching for "hot and new bakeries," and then after doing a bit more research, I ended up following them on instagram. The couple who own this business are very sweet and put all the attention and care into their products. They specialize in one or two layer basque-like cheesecakes and add a traditional crust on the bottom. We ended up buying a slice of their ube basque cheesecake, which was subtle on the ube flavor (as expected after the owners told us so), super smooth, and not overly sweet. If you love creamy desserts with substance, this is right up your alley. The only drawback is the price - $8/each. The slice in real life fits the palm of my hand, so in my opinion, it's a little steep in my opinion. However, they did offer a free Madeline cookie with every purchase, which set off the price a little bit. Overall, this is small business I hope to try again and would continue to support. Read about this place in AAA magazine and made the 20m drive from N. County to try it out. It did not disappoint. The cheesecake was smooth and creamy but not too tangy or too sweet. Just right. We got the plain but I'm sure the sesame would have been tasty as well. Also tried the snickers tea cake which was wonderful. The staff was helpful and friendly. My only suggestions is that the retail shop was really sparse and kind of gave off a vibe of being so new and empty that it was almost sterile. There are no seats inside or out so it's not really inviting but it's a very small space. And there is no refrigerated display case so you don't really even know what you're buying. If I hadn't read the AAA article I would have been VERY confused. read more

WOW! This little shop is hard to find but SO worth the effort! It's on the opposite end (on the residential side) of the Trader Joe's plaza in this area. We had a Salted Caramel Madeline and a slice of Basque Cheesecake. Holly Smokes these were AMAZING. Not too sweet! Creamy and Delicious! The owners are Korean (so my wife connected). They also speak excellent english (so no worries about translations). We picked upon of the refrigerated La Colombe Coffee cans (Draft Caramel Latte) and it was very good with the desserts! Picked up some of the wrapped desserts from the fridge too (counting on them being as good as everything else). I think you can't go wrong here if you like cheesecake (or caramel) even a little bit. There was a buttery graham cracker crust, creamy pistachio cheesecake, followed by a crunchy kataifi layer, all enrobed in molten chocolate with roasted crushed pistachios and gold flakes! This is probably the best rendition of the viral Dubai chocolate trend! It was rich, decadent, and had the perfect amount of sweetness. Color me CONFUSED. I was THRILLED when I read about this place opening as I live in Carmel Valley and I'm gluten-free. When I came in the five or six times, the person behind the counter was nice enough to point out the few items that aren't gluten-free so that I could get all gluten-free items. I was told the Madelines were gluten free. However, the last time I went in, which was about two weeks ago, the young woman behind the counter told me nothing they served was gluten-free unless I special order cheesecake. Huh? I asked her several times ... "Are you certain these items aren't gluten-free because I have purchased them many times and I was told each time they are." "No," she insisted. "Nothing is gluten-free unless it is special ordered, and only if its cheesecake." Needless to say, I didn't buy anything that time and never returned. I don't know who is training the people in behind the counter, but they should all have the same information for the customers. Some of us truly can't eat gluten. It is rich and creamy cheese cake. The flavor is spot on. Not too sweet. We tried earl grey and strawberry. Both were delicious. Tasted creamy early grey with sweetness (in Japan there is a drink name Royal Milk tea, and it tasted like that). As for Strawberry one it tasted like very tart strawberry with drizzle of condense milk. I recommend this place if this is the cake you are looking for. read more
