First time trying The Cakery and I'm obsessed! I never wanted to try basque cheesecakes because they didn't have crust! I'm so glad to have come across the Cakery! The Basque cheesecakes are so creamy in the middle with the perfect toasted top, and I love that they're not too sweet. Truly the perfect dessert after a meal! It's a small shop, just to order to go. The front of house was super nice and welcoming too. We definitely will be back for more! I saw they're opening a new location soon that will be more of a cafe!

I've tried their basque cheesecake, madeleines, and canele and they knocked it out the park with all three. They have various flavors for both the cheesecake and Madeline's. As indulgent as they both were, they were thankfully light and not too sweet. I particularly liked their canelé which had just the right texture and crust. The shop itself is small, but I haven't seen it get that busy and the staff is friendly and quick with helping out with orders. I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're looking for some light, not-too-sweet pastries.

So good!! Stopped by their store in Carmel Valley and was able to pick up a matcha cheesecake without a pre-order! They even included a candle and happy birthday sign. The store is super clean and has an adorable minimal vibe. Also love that they sell other curated products from small businesses. The Matcha cake was amazing! Not too sweet, not too dense, just perfect! Highly recommend!

What we ordered | earl grey cheesecake| hojicha vanilla Madeline | canele Taste | early grey had good flavor and wasn't too sweet! Just right! Same for the Madeline and canele. Service | the worker was very nice and walked through the flavors they had today. She mentioned they were known for their cheesecakes! Parking | plaza Notes | this is in the Limjn community but there's a number of storefronts under the homes! They are opening another location in Miramar! Lots of Asian flavored cheesecakes / Madeline's and financiers! A few tables to enjoy the desserts!

SO GOOD!! Get the white chocolate earl grey madeleine!!!! I already love tea flavored desserts but this blew my mind. Such a delicate flavor, but was strong enough to linger in the mouth after you take a bite. The white chocolate layer wasn't too sweet. And the madeleine was super fluffy and moist! I will be returning just for this! The dubai chocolate cheesecake also was such a yummy surprise. There's a thick kadayif or knafeh layer that was super crunchy and added nice texture contrast to the creamy cheesecake. The Varlhona cheesecake was better in my opinion because that chocolate was so decadent and luxurious but not too dense and overwhelming. This was also my first time trying a basque cheesecake and loved it overall!! And the shop is so cute and aesthetic. There was no line, but this shop deserves more hype for sure.

I've tried their basque cakes and tea cakes multiple times and I finally got to go to their storefront myself! As others mentioned, their storefront is within the residences but it wasn't hard to find as they put out a standing sign outside the door. They had displays of their cake offerings and other items for sale (like canned/bottled drinks and mochi gummies etc). I haven't had one item here that wasn't delicious. My go to are the Earl grey, hojicha and espresso madelines. The white chocolate Earl grey is #1 in my book. The caneles are made to perfection with a crunchy outside and soft inside. The passion fruit basque cake is a favorite with just the right amount of tart. Very friendly service as well.

Came here for the basque cheesecakes, fell in love with financiers!! Strawberry matcha is their seasonal flavor right now. I got the strawberry matcha basque cheesecake, strawberry matcha financier, white chocolate early grey Madeline, snickers financier, and yuzu basque cheesecake. Everything was not too sweet and had a lovely subtle flavor! I would definitely come back for the financier tea cakes! Theyre absolutely delicious with the soft tea cake base, chocolate and filling layer, and cream/fruit/nuts on top!! The flavor and texture profiles are amazing making it a real treat. They're also the cutest desserts ever and very visually appealing. The basque cheesecakes and Madeline were very yummy and delicious as well but compared to the financier I'd have to pick the latter. I would definitely still recommend that you try at least 1 item from each category if you go though because it is all so delicious and you can tell a lot of care and quality went into making these desserts! They were super nice, patient, and informative when I went since I knew I wanted to try a bit of everything but was unsure about what flavors to get, so if you are like me and want recommendations I would definitely not be shy to ask whoever is working! The location itself is a bit of a hole in the wall, there's plenty of parking which is nice and just look for the signs outside the storefront to lead you the right way! The interior is minimalistic and cute and the pastries on display are actual pastries so what you see is an exact rendition of what you'll get!

There's no seating inside. We ordered to go instead. Had the canelé and the original basque cheesecake and passion fruit basque cheesecake. They were all so very good.

4.5 stars We stopped by this bakery just to try some desserts to go, and I was really glad we did! I got a slice of cheesecake, and it was delicious--dense but super fresh, and you could tell it was made with quality ingredients. Really rich flavor, not too sweet, just right. The location is a little unexpected--it almost feels like you're pulling into an apartment complex--but it's actually a small business spot with a cozy vibe. They even had little samples of each cheesecake flavor available, which was a nice touch. They also offer other cakes and treats. Service was quick and friendly. They packaged everything neatly in boxes for us. We also got a cookie, but funny enough, our family's dog got to it before we did--so can't report back on that one! All in all, a great little spot. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors next time.

The Cakery is such a hidden gem!! If you want some high quality desserts that is the right enough sweetness, you will absolutely love this place! We tried everything from slices of their basque cheesecakes, madeleines, canneles, and financier and here were our favorites! cheesecake: cookie and cream, strawberry and matcha madeleine: salted caramel, earl grey financier: snickers caramel cannele: chocolate and matcha You really can't go wrong with anything you order. They have a cafe opening up soon in Miramar where they'll serve the same treats alongside with some beverages that will pair well with your desserts. I'm pretty stoked for that to open!

I told my husband not to get me a birthday cake this year and that I wanted to try a basque cheesecake from The Cakery instead. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! We got the yuzu basque cheesecake and it was so delicious - I'm pretty sure I ate most of it by myself across a span of days and am literally dreaming about getting another one as I write this review. Although the price is a little steep, it was well worth it and satisfied all my cheesecake cravings + more. I will be requesting this for many special occasions to come in the future :)

I found this bakery through instagram and made the drive to try it out. My fiancé and I got a slice of the ube cheesecake, passion fruit cheesecake and the Dubai cheesecake. As well as a Yuzu financier cake. The cheesecakes were rich & decent although the flavors were subtle, we overall enjoyed everything! I've never had a financier cake but it was by far my favorite! Would definitely return to try more flavors!

We used to come visit here when we come to San Diego. The other thing that got to me was that the men's restroom was out of service so they did not announce it or anything but the women's bathroom was to be used by both genders but it was crowded so a bit uncomfortable. Service wise we got our deserts and the deserts are still very delicious. We were a larger party and they were able to accommodate and get all of our orders correctly. Noise level was normal and gave us time to sit down and relax our feet. Over all - food was good but things were a bit worn down from a building perspective

If you aren't a regular, they just quickly come by and say "anything else?" the two times they came by. Im a huge water drinker so the carafe they brought only refilled our cups once. Never got another one until we were done and they came by asking about dessert. They weren't busy by any stretch on a Tuesday evening but apparently the frequent customers either tip really well or they prefer familiar faces. I assume the latter.
