Not as good as it used to be when they first opened. Roast pork: Not as flavorful as it used to be. Also the cut is very lean, making it tough and chewy. Beef and Shrimp rice rolls: Beef is ok. Shrimp had a fishy smell and after taste. My companion refused to eat it. There are chives in this, that were barely cooked, so has a sharp taste, like raw onions, not pleasant. Rice roll noodle itself: acceptable texture. Could be smoother. Can't complain too much. It's got congee, it's got rice noodles. It's not the most glorified place in the world. There are backless benches to sit on, so if you want to put your jacket anywhere, you go and grab a little plastic basket (which may or may not be the teensiest bit dirty. Check before and or one of the hosts may help you choose a clean one) and you roll your jacket up and put it into the basket on the floor. The food comes out quick. Delicious and fresh. Rice noodles and congee here are both top notch. We tried the rice noodle with crispy dough (yummy) as well as their special black truffle rice noodle (good but a tad bland). Congee here was piping hot and very tasty. Soy milk was just average. The eating space is no frills but comfortable. Prices are reasonable and food comes out fast. Staff here is friendly and helpful. Depending on the time/day you go, there may be a slight wait. But the wait is quite short, and they have a little hallway inside so you don't have to wait in the cold. My usuals are R1-Beef & Shrimp with Chives Rice Roll, Deep Fried Steam Buns, and their HK Style Milk Tea. Cannot go wrong with any of these items! On my most recent visit in addition to my usuals, we added the sliced pork&liver&kidney congee and the HK Style Curry Fish Balls. The congee was scorching hot when it arrived, we usually transfer some to the containers on the table for faster cooling. The fish balls taste great with the congee. This place brings me back to my Hong Kong roots with its menu. Though the price is a little bit more than what I'd like to pay for, it was worth it. The rice rolls aka Cheung fen, was silky, smooth, and thin. The curry combo had fish balls, squid, and pig skin. The curry flavor is strong, fragrant with a slight kick and bold. The shrimp roll also had some cooked lettuce in it which gave it a nice light crunch. There was a wait line for seating on a Saturday lunch time but the wait shouldn't be long. I ordered takeout when I arrived and only waited about 10 minutes for my food to be ready. This place is Cash Only but might take Zelle. You just need to ask the servers to confirm. I am thrilled that Yin Ji Chang Fen (銀記腸粉), a Cantonese-style rice noodle roll shop from Guangzhou, China, has opened a location in Downtown Flushing. The rice noodle rolls offered by Yin Ji are deluxe, embellished versions of those offered by dim-sum restaurants. Yin Ji's offerings are not the best rice noodle rolls we've had, but they are the most "out-of-box complete" offering I've seen -- in the sense that further customization is possible but not necessary for a gratifying experience. This is a second branch of guangdong restaurant. First location is in ctown. This branch is slightly different as there are different dishes. The cheung fun was nicely layered, delicate without falling apart and the ingredients inside were fresh. We tried the beef pork noodle, dried shrimp and the beef. The congee here is really tasty- large portion and very aromatic and piping hot. Like so hot you would get a 2nd degree burn even after waiting for 10 minutes... but I also hate lukewarm soup so this was awesome for me. The yao tiw or fried crueller was freshly made, airy and crunchy. The surprise winning dish was the combo curry dish which reminded me of street cart dishes from my child hood. It was curry fishballs, pig skin and squid all in one plate. The price was 10 dollars but very reasonable for the portion no and the quality of the taste- good curry flavor with actual spice that doesn't kill your palate. The Hong Kong style tea was good and fragrant but I still prefer Cuppa tea for its authenticity and strength so I would have probably waited to get my tea there later. Service was good- attentive but you need to ask them for more water. Bowls are disposable but look super cute as they are like ramen cups. Place was clean and so was the bathroom but space is small so there may be a small wait to get a table. I would definitely go back again even though it's a little bit pricier than other places (3 rice noodles, a congee, a fried crueller, and a tea) for around 60 including tip because the taste and skill to make these items was there. read more

It's been about a year since first coming here, and this is still the only place I will get my rice rolls from. I've tried other fillings, but my favorite is still the beef rice roll and soy milk. The curry fish balls are also amazing. Whenever I order food from here, either dine in, take out or through fantuan (delivery), I ALWAYS get their beef rice rolls, soy milk and fish balls. Unlike other places, the fish balls here really pack a punch. They're slightly spicier than most places, but it goes really well with rice. I've tried almost every congee they offer, and they're all amazing. The one I order most is probably the basic shredded pork and preserved egg congee, as well as their fish fillet congee. I also love how they pack in a small container of white pepper- most places I go to don't include this! Whenever I pass by, they're always packing so it's a testament to how good their food is. It's a nice pick me up especially when you're feeling sick, although they're known for their rice noodles but surprisingly I like their congee more. I enjoyed both the Lai wan congee and pork with preserved egg, they were loaded with ingredients. The curry fishballs were flavorful and milk tea was very smooth. I love how there are a lot of vegan friendly options here. Nothing was a show stopper, but the soy milk was perfectly sweet and pairs nice with the fried man tou. We wanted to be adventurous and ordered the truffle rice roll. It was quite good, a mild truffle flavor and lots of mushrooms. The dough stick rice noodle was ok, the fried dough wasn't as crispy as I liked it and they put to much of the soy sauce so it got soggy very quick. It's so nice to find another Cantonese establishment in the heart of Flushing. Came here for breakfast for the first time on a Sunday morning and this place gets popular quick. Luckily we got there when we did, because in a matter of 10 minutes the place was packed with a line out the door. The restaurant is still new and everything was very clean. Service was great, and the waitress was very attentive. My rating is purely based on the food, specially the Chang Fen. I would rate the Chang Fen dishes a 3.5/5. I found the rice noodles to be very soft and smooth in texture which is great, but the soy sauce was a bit lacking in my opinion. The flavor was a bit muted compared to other places where the sauce is a perfect balance between savory and sweet, and I just didn't get that same flavor profile I'm used to from both the dried shrimp and chives dish, as well as the shrimp dish. I also found the noodles were slightly more oily than I'd like. Their preserved egg with pork congee was absolutely delicious. We paired that with the fried cruller and it reminded me of when my parents would make this for me whenever it got super cold. It had the same thicker texture and same flavors. All in all, I enjoyed my dining experience here and I'm curious to come back in order to try other dishes this place has to offer. read more

The interior exuded a clean-cut modern ambiance. While waiting for our rice rolls, we were floored by the amount of flavor the freshly made sliced beef congee. We also ordered a side of preserved egg which complemented it nicely. There was depth of flavor of the congee, the texture of the beef and the herbaceousness of the cilantro and scallions that made it well-rounded and thoroughly enjoyable. When our two rice rolls arrived (the black truffles with shiitake mushrooms and marinated beef with chives with egg), we were presented with a larger rice roll than we were used to but their flavors and the skin's delicate and silky texture immediately made us devour everything. Love love this place, and the upgraded building. It went from a old hole in the wall place to such a nicely built and well managed shop that's right at the corner in Chinatown NYC. I always loved getting their rice roll "Chang-feng" especially the fried cruller/dough stick and shrimp, definitely want to try pork liver next time because I've heard it so popular. The staff and service was great here, attentive, helpful, remembers every request and need even though they were super busy and check out process was fast (it is cash only!) I don't know why this place doesn't have any actual plates, bowls or utensils, everything is disposable and mostly plastic. They serve piping hot congee in plastic takeout containers when you dine in. I came in when they first opened and thought it was because they were still in soft opening but now over a year later they are still using plastic containers and spoons. It's a super weird experience. The food is decent, I like their fried crullers and the congee. The rice rolls a bit salty for me but not bad. 2 stars for beef congee. When I tried this place over a year ago, I thought the congee was good, not great but still pretty tasty. I even returned and brought congee and rice noodles over to my parents but they didn't like it. Now there's very little meat with rice that's cooked down for hours or at least that's how it was for the sliced beef congee. Barely any protein and no seasoning whatsoever. The congee had no salt at all and I'm used to low sodium. My favorite place for congee doesn't deliver so I chose this place since I liked it before. But like others have said, this place is no longer as good as it first opened. The ingredients aren't as fresh as my favorite spot nor as generous with the proteins. Even so, I'd at least want some flavor, but it pretty much tastes like water for the beef. I had to add a couple of condiments just to make it edible. If I wanted to taste water, I'd get it from my fridge, I don't need to pay $8+ for hot water. Skip the beef one. read more
