This is part 2 of my so-called stakeout quick eats. I was in an unfortunate situation where I was tasked to man the car in New York City, whilst busing my MIL from one appointment to the next. What better thing to do during these moments of boredom than to scope out some good quick eats on the Yelp app? I did just that and was delighted to learn that just mere 10 yards ahead of my perched car was the Yiwanmen or yee won mien, which literally means one bowl of noodle. Since this was to be consumed in front of the steering wheel, I had to forgo their staple noodle entrees and go for their snacks -- specifically their savory crepes (jian bing) which were actually prominently featured in their menu. I was going for their Pork Belly Crepe for $6 based on the takeout menu. To my dismay, the new price was now $8. I thus changed my order to the Pork Belly Bao and the Beef Bao instead. It took a mere 5 minutes for my order to be ready. While welcomed in light of the fact that my car was illegally parked, it wasn't a good sign for the food. The buns weren't very fluffy; I had to wonder if their were microwaved. The visuals were enticing; unfortunately that was dampened by their miniature sizes. I'd liken them to the size of my credit card. A bit of a bummer. The pickled radish gave each bite a nice crunch, along with a sweet and acidic kick; however, the pork belly wasn't moist like I had expected. Between the two, I preferred the beef Bao, partly because I had no expectation. Despite the modern glass exterior, this is a hole-in-the-wall joint with charming interior and fun menu items. While not impressed on this outing, I wouldn't mind trying their other offerings in the future -- but not their baos. read more

I know they are mostly a noodle shop, but PLEASE give their jian bings a try. I got the pork floss (basically dried pork with a fluffy texture) jian bing and will definitely be going back to try the others! Staff is extremely nice and are able to make accommodations. There's not that much seating though, so eating in with a big group is probably not a good idea read more

I love love jian bings! They're my favorite street food to eat. This beef jian bing was no different. The beef wasn't sliced like I thought it would be but minced. I thought the beef was a bit salty but it was still juicy and delicious. I noticed they added lettuce - I don't think I've had a jian bing with lettuce before but I love it! I would come back here and try their other flavors. They have outdoor seating as well. They have indoor but they prefer customers to sit in the designated outdoor seating. read more

I order 2 pork belly bao, the bao are nice and soft, come with sliced cucumbers in them . It taste quite refreshing but the sauce I did not like it. I wished the pork belly was warm . The place is very small and has a few tables and chair, not good for big groups. I think the most it can fit is a group of 4 . They have a $15 minimum for credit card . Very disappointed this time. I tried the spicy intestine noodle this time. But the soup is flavorless. It's quite spicy but apart from that nothing left. I had the mixed seafood noodle (thin rice noodle) soup for lunch today. The soup looked little like the picture advertisement for this soup in the restaurant's window menu. The picture showed in shell half clams and whole prawns in the soup while the bowl I got only had a few cleaned deveined shrimp, squid and fish cake. The overall soup was large and filling but the broth in the soup was very very bland and flavorless and very disappointing. The seafood was frozen and chewy but they did tell me before I ordered that the seafood would be from frozen. The overall problem was the watery bland soup stock which leads me to an opinion I wouldn't return. Everything was clean and I didn't get sick but the watery bland broth was a great disappointment! In addition the condiments to add to the soup were poor tasting including the red pepper paste which also lacked flavor. I hope the restaurant takes me seriously and learns how to create a slow cooked flavorful soup broth. Too bad but I won't be a return customer. read more

I work off of Mott so I try to eat at different places as much as I can. I've seen Yiwanmen a few times and when we couldn't get a table at a place next door a co-worker and I stopped in. The women at the counter was friendly and helped me pick a dish I would like. The place itself is small with only a few tables, we showed up at 3:30 on a work day and there was only two seats at the side bar open. I can't remember which one I picked but it was good. Super hearty with tons of noodles! Not much else in the bowl except noodles, bok choy and big pieces of beef. If you got a piece of beef that wasn't half fat it was great but I got. Lot of heavily fatty/chewy pieces so I stayed away from most of the meat. I would definitely come back to try something with a little more kick! read more

Good place for a noodle soup, reasonably priced in a no-frills environment. For $8 I got a nice portion of noodles with a few slices of beef. The soup was flavorful, not too salty and piping hot. Nice, filling meal on a cold day. They have communal tables with stools, not the most comfortable place if you're looking for a place to enjoy a long, relaxing meal. I'd rate this a 4.5, rounding up cause I just had their noodles today and it was satisfying. Noodles flavors are consistently tasty and not too oily (unless it's supposed to be), place is no-nonsense but uncrowded, the lady there is super nice. Price is not cheap but reasonable (it's post pandemic inflation, I have to keep reminding myself nothing's gonna be cheap like the old days TT_TT). Favorites are the sour & spicy noodle and chongqing noodle if you're looking for flavor bomb, lanzhou beef (great when you're craving warm, comforting but clean clear broth). Zhajiangmian aint bad either if you're looking for a dry brothless noodle. Solid neighborhood joint that locals like me keep coming back to. read more

This place is a hidden gem and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. We went today and ordered a ton of great food. The jianbing is delicious and so nostalgic. Along with that, this place offers so many delicious flavors from hot noodle soup bowls to affordable delicious dumplings and bao wraps. The place itself is also very cozy as the staff also put on some groovy Chinese songs to listen to during our meal. Also, as a wheelchair user, the staff helped me to get in and out of the restaurant with ease. I felt very much appreciated here and will definitely be coming back! read more

This review is for the jian bing. At first bite, the flavor made my taste buds sing! I got the duck and it's sooo juicy. The bing came fresh and piping hot, and also with a thin crispy layer inside. Although the signs did not say duck as an option, I saw some reviews of the duck jian bing so I asked if they still had them, and they do! The lady behind the register was super nice. Since I'm not in NY often and NY has so much more unique foods than Philly, I wanted to try something I couldn't get back home. I was also looking for something quick and inexpensive so stumbled upon this place only 5 minutes from where I was. I have never had a jian bing before but wow this place set the bar high for future jian bings I will try. The lady at the counter was very nice when we walked in. The food came out relatively fast. We ordered one beef and one fish jian bing. The beef was definitely my favorite. It was very flavorful. I thought it would be more like a snack but it was filling for me. We tried the braised beef noodle soup & the wonton noodle soup. The service here was great. The lady at the register was able to guide me and give us some good suggestions. The braised beef noodle soup was so tasty. It was full of flavor and they gave a good serving of noodles and beef. The cashier suggested that we get the braised beef and add hot oil to your liking instead of getting the spicy one. All I have to say is that the noodles were just a bit soft than how I like it but all in all it was very good. Now let's get to the wontons. The wontons made here are soooooo good!!!! They are a solid clean cut flavor wonton. Everyone who walked in after us ordered wonton noodle soup. We definitely will be back for both soup noodles! read more

AVOID the noodles. I know it's a noodle spot but trust me. It's not worth you throwing away your money. I should've listened to my fellow yelper elite Lori about it. Just get the jian bing. I'll explain: Place: if you go during lunch hour, it'll be typically hard to find a seat in this small establishment but from my horrible experience with what their known for it'll probably be empty. Plan accordingly. Food: do not get the noodles I ordered the N7 - braised beef noodle. The broth has no flavor whatsoever. It tasted watered down with a few spices coming from the braised beef. The beef itself was decent but that didn't help the overall dish survive at all. If you're an avid noodle person, you'll be able to tell that the noodles taste cheap and not fresh. You'll see the texture / quality of the noodles in my pictures. Don't order them! Jian bing with pork floss and crunchy - this was OK. Much better than the noodles and surprisingly filling. I've had better jian bings but given the situation this tasted "great". I will not be coming back here and I would recommend people to not go either. read more

This is one of my favorite place to eat at Chinatown. I've been here multiple times and it never disappoints. My favorite from here is definitely jianbing. It's a big portion and still more affordable than jianbings from other places in the city. I've tried the sausage, fish and beef jianbings and they're all very tasty. (Beef is my favorite out of the bunch tho.) Their noodles are also really good. Service is great here as well. The cashier kindly asked another customer to move his seat when the place was packed to fit me and my friend. They have a restroom for customers, but you have to exit the restaurant and go down to the basement. read more

Warning: they charge you for every little thing. Stopped by to get a bowl of noodle soup because it's cold outside. First, the CC minimum is $15, ok fine. But then they charge you another 3.5% on top for using a CC. Why even have a minimum on CC if you're going to have the customers pay the CC fees anyway? Noodles were ok. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 for the food. I asked for a couple of to-go containers because I had to over order to hit the CC minimum so I couldn't finish my food. They charge you for the to-go containers...which turned out to cost a little over 6% of my order total. Don't recommend this place if you don't have cash on you. read more

Found this little hole in the wall on my way home. Food is very reasonably priced. Thou to note their credit card minimum is $10. Normally I have no trouble spending $10 at a restaurant but here I would have to order two portions. The portions are huge despite the cheap price. I got the Beijing noodles with soy bean paste. I loved the texture of the noodles! The dish itself is a little too salty for me. I probably wouldn't get this again. But definitely worth $6.5 Jian Bing was very yummy. A delicious noodle spot in the border of chinatown and little Italy. The place is small with three big tables and two bar tables, but there are a lot of seats. Noodles are chewy and served in a delicious broth. I had the wonton noodle soup and those wontons were stuffed, the broth was very clear and it felt like soup for the soul. We also had the spicy braised beef noodle soup, the broth was intense and rich in flavor. We ordered at the counter and our food was ready less than ten minutes later. An excellent value for the noodle soups. I find that a lot of places can be heavy on the noodles and light on other ingredients, but there is a great balance of the fish and lots of veggies as well in this soup. Yiwanmen for some reason reminds me of of Xi'an Famous Foods. As it has newly open and it is uniquely different from the other restaurants in this area. Their seating is a bit tight and to the side there is a mini wall coat rack. It looks pretty clean since it has recently open. There was the cashier and two other workers working in the kitchen. I ordered the; N6.Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($5) Bao3. Roast Duck Bao ($4) D3. Mango Basil Seed ($3.75) The wonton noodle I got was very pain and the wonton noodles was stuck together so it was hard to eat. The roast duck bao is tasted very common yet expensive for it's price, probably have to eat 4-5 to get you full (I prefer Peking duck). My boyfriend got the N5. Lanzhou original noodle soup, he felt the soup base tasted very "light." What we did like was the Jian Bing (Chinese savior crepe) it was $5-$8 depending on what meat you want into your crepe. The sauce they add onto it makes it pretty good and eat it when it's hot. I also really like the Mango basil seed drink! The flavoring it very mangoish but not over sweeten by syrup. Would come by for a drink and maybe try the other noodles when I have time but as of now I just think A-OK. read more

even though this place is known for their noodles, don't sleep on their jian bings!! fun fact: my friend and i were in the store when we saw the fung bros come in to interview the store owner for their youtube video haha. -they're available for delivery on grubhub, postmates, seamless, and ubereats. -they had a small outdoor dining area with 2 tables next to their entrance. i'm not sure if it's still set up though. -i paid with cash, so i'm unsure if they accept card. -the owner was pretty nice when i talked to him, but my jian bing took almost 15 minutes to make. 8/20/20 -pork floss jian bing: i used to get my jian bing from gem bing shop in east village before they temporarily closed, so i decided to try out the ones here. i was surprised that this came with 2 pieces for only around $6! while the jian bing here isn't as thick or big in size, it was still very much worth the price. the inside of the chewy egg crepe had plenty of lettuce and pork floss; every bite of it was absolutely delicious. (4.5/5) overall, i wish that more people knew about this place! their food is affordable and pretty great in terms of quality. i can easily see myself coming back in the future. i would highly recommend that you must try their pork floss jian bing! read more

Relatively cheap eats serving very specific things. I was in the mood for a jianbing so we stopped by. We got the pork jianbing which was very average; the pork was really a pork belly and though it says "spicy" its not spicy at all. We also got the chong qing noodles and those were average as well - adequate level of spice and flavors. But all in all, nothing I would crave again and if I was craving jianbing i'd probably look at other options before returning. read more
