After anticipating to go here for a month, I would have to say that the wait was worth it! I went on a Saturday afternoon right when it re-opened at 4pm, and boy was it already packed! There were already at least 10 people there waiting for it to open too. I went with 2 other people, and among the 3 of us, we ordered 6 rolls Total= $40 The total wasn't bad at all for the amount of food we had. I finally made the trek down to the new location, since it's grand opening a few weeks ago. I have to say, the ambience is much more appealing here than in the Fairfield. Despite the locations previous businesses (which I didn't frequent often because I don't eat Taco Bell), Yo Sushi's owners have done a bang up job remodeling and decorating the "restaurant." I say restaurant within quotes, because you still cannot call Yo Sushi a restaurant. It is an eating establishment. Similar to the style of the original Fairfield location, you must order first at the counter then have your seat. It's a formality we are accustomed to with fast food. Now with that said, I am in no way calling Yo Sushi a fast food restaurant, but they practice that similar type of service. Yo Sushi, Vallejo offers that same rolls as in the Fairfield location. So there are no surprising changes to their menu. They still have the photos of each roll, but not all of them, which is very helpful for patrons coming in for the first time. There is also a huge menu above the counter for additional items, such as sashimi, teriyaki and the extras. The restaurant is much more decorated in more of a Asian/Japanese theme, with bamboo, lucky cats and dark wooded tables and chairs. And yes, a lot more seating for customers as well. As far as my dining experience, the rolls that I have ordered seemed too loosely wrapped and weren't cut through all the way. There was a struggle grabbing one piece of the sushi roll because of the nori. The flavors were still there, so I am not complaining on the quality or the taste of the sushi. I'm glad that they are also still serving the Genmai Cha (green tea with toasted brown rice). I will be frequenting this location, since Yo Sushi is one of a few restaurants where I will order sushi rolls. Being a purists, I simply eat mostly the sashimi and nigiri. The food is excellent, but if you order from a delivery service, you had better order well in advance. It seems as if they don't prepare the food in the sequence in which the food was ordered. Delivery services are relegated to the "back of the bus" so to speak. Do not rely on the 'estimated time for delivery" as it is always incorrect. Take the time it says, and double it. That is most accurate. A word of advice... Once you have enjoyed your lunch (somewhere else), place your order immediately if you'd like to have the food delivered in time for dinner from this place. Not quite sure how this place went downhill so fast. Tried calling to place an order for pick-up as the wait times are usually long and no one picked up, mind you this was third time calling. Luckily I remembered that I could place an order online, so I did just that. Ordered two combo meals with teriyaki chicken and one chirashi bowl. Both teriyaki chicken plates tasted like fish.... yuck. I like my chicken to taste like chicken and my fish to taste like fish. Please don't mix the two, cross contaminate, or anything else. I quickly lost my appetite in a few bites. Also the chirashi bowl didn't seem too fresh. The fish were obviously a little older and some even discolored, which told us it must've been left out a good portion of the day. This used to be my go to spot for Japanese food, sadly however I think I'll have to find somewhere new. It's been a while since I ate out so I thought why not treat myself to some Japanese? I ordered a two item Bento box with Chicken Kutsu and Beef Teriyaki, ordered a separate California roll and also a tempura appetizer to go. When I got home and opened my meal, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. The temperature appetizer was not there and in its place with a tempura roll. The meats were flat in appearance and texture, and not juicy and thick as I had remembered them in prior visits. I called the restaurant and politely mentioned that someone had made a mistake and given me a tempura roll versus a tempura appetizer. I was informed that they do not do tempura appetizers (the kind we you get two pieces of shrimp, broccoli, yams, carrots etc.). If that's what I want, I have to order it as part of a bento meal. A Tempura meal would give me four pieces of battered shrimp and rice. I said ok, thanks for the explanation. I think I can speak for everyone when I mean that this is probably one of the top sushi restaurants in Vallejo. I used to live in Benicia and I always struggled trying to find a sushi restaurant in the area that I was fond of. Since this place has opened, I've been here more than a handful of times. If you have read any of my sushi reviews at other restaurants, you will notice that my favorite type of sushi are the baked ones or the fried ones. So whenever I go here, I get the lion king or the lion prince, deep fried ca, and crunchy roll; with no tobiko lol. But this last time I went, I ordered a special roll called "O' Happy Day roll", which I believe had shrimp tempura, salmon, and tuna. It was really delicious. The crunchy stuff topped it off! Don't forget to look at the special roll menu to the right of the main menu! When you open the doors, you see all of the tables to your right. And directly to your left is the sushi menu. A plus for me, was the fact that they had pictures to go with the names so you can see exactly what you will be served. Once you've decided what you'd like to order, you'll go up to the cashier and order your food and/or drinks. Then, they'll give you a buzzer that informs you of when your food is ready! Anything you need, wasabi, extra soy sauce, more ginger, etc... You will need to go to the counter yourself and ask, they're extremely busy, especially around dinner time. Sometimes the employees do come out and ask if you need anything or bring your food out :) No matter how busy they are, there's no denying how fast they are. They have always gotten my order right as well. The only thing I would change is the cleanliness, sometimes when I sit down at the tables and chairs, it's a sticky or greasy. To top that, the guy at the counter didnt seem like his job too much just with the way his attitude was. I didnt feel welcome at all. I ordered fried shrimp tempura, tempura mix, Fantasy roll (which is fried) and a Super California roll. All 3 fried dishes were soggy by the time I got it and was able to eat it. This is my go to sushi spot and has been for many years. I've definitely noticed the portion sizes getting smaller. My 6 year old ate a whole 2 item combo herself (teriyaki chicken, rice, and chicken katsu) and she's never been able to do that. Usually 2 people can eat off of a 2 item combo but the portion was so small she ate it all and was still hungry. Bummer because we usually pay $70-$90 a trip here to feed 4 people. My fiancé and I love this place. It's so good we continue to order the same things. The servings in sushi are quite big. You have to be careful.. I almost choked. This place is always busting at the seems, but it's limited amount of tables give it that impression. It always looks like a lunch rush. The decor is dated, but has that eccentric look between franchise and the owners personal touch, lol. So here's a tip.. take picture of the sushi you want. Their menu is posted along the wall where the line starts. There's no way to remember all the items you want to order. There are no paper menus... odd? After you take the pictures, go and grab a seat if one is open. I then text message my fiancé our order... I know it sounds crazy, but this is the only way I can make it work and quickly grab a seat. Its like playing that chair game with the last person who doesn't grab a seat loses. My biggest pet peeve is the way the clean the tables and the dirty pile up in the dirty dish container. They quickly wipe off the tables with a rag that I don't think is sanitary and I don't see a sani-bucket anywhere. They wipe the food all over the floor and seating, wth. Then people bus there own tables and stack their plates a mile high in the dirty bins where they're in plain view of where you are eating. There are always about 5 people at the registers, they should all take turns cleaning the restaurant when it's slow. Remove the dirty dishes off the floor more often than not or have dedicated persons watching the floor. read more

I was customer here for many years, today is the first time that I will write the review because I'm so disappointed for their quality. I want to order the same one which I always get. It's the seaweed and rice wrap with sweet egg ( Tamago roll). I don't want to have seaweed on it, just rice and egg that's all. But the want to charge me $1 extra from take off the seaweed because they said it hard to do without the seaweed, why can you roll other item without seaweed but not this one. There's not a lot of places to get sushi around Vallejo. So when you need good sushi, and good service Yo's is the usual place to go. With the pandemic a lot has changed, and take-out is the option. Unfortunately I'm writing this review because of the terrible time management and communication from our last visit. We ordered a large party platter at 4:30pm with a pick-up at 5:40. We waited til our pick up time and it was still not ready. We drove to the location since maybe DoorDash had some kind of glitch. When we arrived, there was no one waiting for an order and we discovered that our order hasn't even started yet (6:30pm) they are usually on time. Perhaps ordering online was the problem, but nevertheless if you receive an order early you have more time to organize it. I look forward to being able to change this review in a future review, but until my next online order I hope that timing and communication improves. read more

We ordered take out from here, the wait was about 20 minutes for about 3 items which I think is pretty standard compared to what everyone says is the wait time. Me and my boyfriend didn't think it was that bad of a wait. The sushi was amazing, my bf loved it. The ramen, not so much since they use fish broth for all the types of ramen. They didn't have any realistic vegetarian options which doesn't surprise me since most sushi places don't. What was disappointing is that the vegetarian sushi tends to be one or two vegetables, rice, and seaweed which other restaurants usually make them more flavorful especially if you're paying $4 for a roll of it when you can make it at home for 50 cents easily. BOBA is horrible! Don't waste your money! Boba was undercooked and it takes forever for them to make. It tasted like they just blended ice, milk and added flavored powder. It ended up in the trash can. I should have had my kids taste it before I jumped in the car and took off! Otherwise I definitely would have asked for a refund! We come here all the time and its consistently good, fresh and very reasonably priced. The portions are good for the price, you really get a lot for a little. They have a lot of choices from rolls t entrees and everything we've tried from the Musubi to the teriyaki has been good. They offer pearl drinks and Japanese sodas as well. I would suggest getting food to go, as it gets busy and crowded quickly, which makes for a noisy atmosphere. There is usually a wait/line and they give you a pager if you're ordering take out. Definitely stop by when you're craving sushi but don't want high price of a traditional sit down restaurant. read more

I ordered shrimp veggie tempura, seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll, and salmon roll for pickup. When I opened the tempura, I notice something was off immediately. The onions had a different batter than the shrimp and the other veggies. It wasn't the traditional tempura batter, it was more of an onion ring batter. The seaweed salad and the salmon roll were really good. The spicy tuna roll was ok. I lost my appetite when I took one bite of the tempura green pepper. It tasted horrible. When I looked down at the remains of the tempura, there was a large amount of a white substance with the consistency of flour and a partially rotten green pepper. I've been to Yo Sushi about 6 times prior to today. It appears that their quality had gone down and the freshness of their vegetables has diminished. I'm not sure if management changed or they're experiencing issues due to the pandemic. This was my third visit during the pandemic and at time when everyone is trying to remain healthy, it causes one to question the condition of the kitchen. read more

Sometimes the place is packed with customers and its hard to get a table's because they don't have enough chairs and tables. Regular here and like it a lot, (best sushi in Vallejo) but tried ordering takeout / pickup via Yelp, and didn't realize that if you do that here, it is taken thru GrubHub which charges over a dollar more PER ROLL even tho they do absolutely nothing when picking up yourself. Completely understand the elevated price if they are delivering. I only found out about that GrubHub was the reason for the upcharge when I went to cancel that order (which can only be done via phone call).
