We used to live in this area and visited often. We decided to stop in today when we were on that side of town and it was definitely a meh experience. Pros are that the girl greeted us, the yogurt was good and the toppings were stocked. Huge negatives...It's run down, with no one seeming to care about it. It's a small space, so would be easy to freshen it up. There were dead flies along the windows and the windows and bathrooms were filthy. There was tape holding a seam together on the counter and masking tape with sharpie labels for some of the toppings (very easy to get a label maker and make topping names like others had). There were 2 fridge/freezers in front...one was completely empty and one was two thirds empty. And no music. I can't stand eateries that don't have music, especially when they're empty. No life at all. With so many options, we won't be returning. read more

Took my daughter here just to have a little snack and she was so thrilled! Getting little sample cups and trying different flavors then having what seemed like endless toppings! This location was very clean and kept up but I will say customer service was off. I personally just don't like feeling as if the worker doesn't like their job. Went to yogurt zone Saturday june 7 about 4pm to get my son and i a treat. The bill was $20.15 and later that day I checked my bank and a charge for $30.38 hit my account. They tipped themselves an and supposedly added charges. Of course they stated they would not fix and that they had POS issues. Of course they won't give you your receipt so you can prove the charge. We won't be going back! People can't just tip themselves! It's stealing!!!!! read more

It's 8:00 PM in the dead of winter. You're a bachelor. You've just purchased a bunch of dusty 40-year-old Atari 2600 cartridges. The Italian horror film you're helping finance is about a paranormal serial killer played by Iggy Pop who scoops out children's eyeballs with a melon spoon. Naturally you're craving frozen yogurt. I'm sure you can relate. If this sounds like you, then consider visiting the Yogurt Zone at Bandera and 1604. The setup is entirely self serve. You grab a paper bowl (small or large), chose from among twelve flavors (mixing and matching is encouraged), and then help yourself to the toppings bar. The flavors range from traditional (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) to more exotic/regional (taro root, horchata). I filled my large bowl with a trio of complementary flavors (chocolate, strawberry, and pistachio) but felt compelled to try salted caramel as well. Perhaps next time. I scanned the list of ingredients posted above the dispensers and was pleased to see all-natural flavors and real fruit extracts. The toppings bar features approximately thirty options, everything from M&M's to fresh fruit to flavored tapioca pearls. I fought the urge to go overboard and chose chocolate chips, cherries, and fresh raspberries. Keep in mind that you pay by the ounce, so exercise restraint. If you allow your child to help itself (yes, I used the "it" pronoun), then pay close attention lest you spend $50 on a mountain of Milk Duds and gummy worms. As I was ready to check out, the ebullient young man at the counter asked, "Care to guess?" He explained that if you guess the weight correctly, you get the yogurt for free. I sized up my massive bowl and estimated 18.8 ounces. Alas, I was off by only .4 ounces, so I paid the $10.45. This may sound slightly exorbitant, but the yogurt was delicious and fat free, so I felt like I got my money's worth. My only suggestion would be to display the price per ounce at the register, as some folks may balk at paying $10 for a bowl of yogurt. Self-serve places can become filthy in an instant (it takes only one zealous two-year-old or middle-aged slob to make a mess), but the shop was impeccably clean. The yogurt dispensers and tables were free of smears and the toppings bar was immaculate, an impressive feat for what appeared to be a one-man operation. The storefront is lined with statements espousing the supposed health benefits of yogurt (some backed by science, others a bit far fetched), but flavor and quality are what matter the most. Yogurt Zone succeeds on both counts. Highly recommended for bachelors, Atari gamers, Italian horror film financiers, and anyone else with a predilection for cool, creamy, healthy treats. read more

If I could leave a zero star I would. I came here the first time with my kiddo and was yummy. A couple months later came back and the place was sticky and dirty but had yogurt and didn't weigh by how much you got so that's a plus. The toppings were pretty scarce and def lacking in freshness. Went back last night and place was like being in a pinesol bomb. The toppings were sad and the Reese's peanut butter cup topping tasted like some pinesol fell into it and took on mold. Sick! I was very pleased with this location. It was very clean with many options as always. The cashier was very sweet. I noticed that he was consistent with asking every guest if they wanted to guess the weight of their bowls. I think in any business, consistency is key and this young man exemplified just that. Yes, another place I'm a regular and yes, I'm a huge fan! Just love how clean this place is kept and how fresh the fruit is! The kids love coming here and I'm so glad it is close to home. Having the frequent flyer punch out cards and the groupon/living social coupons definitely helps with continued loyalty to this place for me. Will keep coming as long as they continue with great upkeep and customer service. The folks who work here are wonderful and not too stuck up to say "Hi" or offer a sample cup or really be a great example of what customer service is about. Love, love, love this place. I love the wonder of walking in and wondering what I will have. I go get my tasting cups and go to town. After about 4 or 5 tastings I settle on one or maybe all five - depending on my mood. I typically do a chocolate and my favorite flavor is wedding cake/ birthday cake - it takes the same no matter the name to me. It tastes like cake and icing - yummy. Occasionally i will get peanut butter and chocolate and swirl it together to make it like a Reece's. Yellow cake tastes like cake batter. Ben usually gets vanilla and chocolate. I love to add M&M's and Ben goes healthy with berries and fruit. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes options and the ability to try different desserts. Eat well read more

Fun!! Took the kids to this place to try and cool down from the heat and this was so refreshing. It was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a little crowded as the seating area is small, but it was fun to hear everyone talk about how wonderful the frozen yogurt tasted. I liked that there are so many flavors of yogurt to choose from and the toppings...let's just say there are more toppings than I could have even dreamed of to put on top. Prices are very reasonable. Tasty and refreshing on a hot day. Only reason putting 4 stars is cause of tip jar. It was tacky. We love coming here amd getting so many choices for frozen yogurt AND toppings. It's awesome! I love the Tahitian Vanilla since has no sugar added. Just top it with fresh strawberries and chocolate sprinkles. It is always clean in there too. So definitely worth the stop. I love this place- Absolutely the best yogurt in town. The atmosphere is so fresh and appeals to folks of all ages. I've seen whole families, moms with a brood of neighborhood kids, teenagers, business men and women, and a whole manner of people show up for some yogurt, and yet there is never chaos. The self serve line runs smoothly and the staff is always friendly and greets customers when they enter and say goodbye when they exit. I've only been to the one on Bandera, so I can't say if all the outlets are this fun, but if they are then this franchise is doing it absolutely right.
