The fruit tea and taro sago are both great, but my favorite drink to get here is the rose milk tea at 50%-75% sweet. There are actual rose petals in the drink and it's very refreshing! Now that we're in a pandemic I've been able to order online or call and pay with Apple pay, which has been convenient. Love their milk tea! I only go during my work hours and you can usually find a line during lunch time. Since the place is very small, you might see a line going out the door but they are fairly quick with their drinks. My go to drink is the matcha milk tea or taro milk tea! You get the choice on how much sugar and ice for each drink and they also have a stamp card rewards program. Yokee Milk Tea was located in Downtown Oakland and had plenty of street parking available. We ordered the coffee and cocoa volcano drinks! The coffee and cocoa flavors were very strong in the drinks and the boba was very chewy. My drink tasted like a really well done Nesquik milkshake, which i greatly appreciated. Their menu had a lot of variety, so will come back to try more. I personally love boba so the ratio was good for me but may be too much for others. read more

I'll explain the three-star rating. 1) Their volcano boba drinks are lit (awesome)! The bobas are cooked with brown sugar which gives it flavor, and it was the perfect texture - chewy and warm. Mix it with fresh milk and you have a perfectly sweetened drink with good boba. I love it. This deserves a five star. 2) However, I tried their durian smoothie and this is such a letdown. I like durian... actually I LOVE durian. So I know what durian should taste like while you eat/drink it and the after taste if any. The moment I tasted it, I knew they did NOT use real durian. It's powdered and it's artificial!! What a scam! Not only was the flavor a turnoff, but the after taste of it, and if you know artificial food leaves an after food effect as well - in this case, the fluid waste was clear evidence it was chemical. STAY AWAY! This deserves a 0 star if I could. So that's why it's a 3 star for this experience. Will try out their other drinks but never again anything with durian from this place. read more

This is officially my favorite tea place! This is a hidden gem on the border of Chinatown, but well worth the walk. The shop is kinda small, and there can be quite a line at times. Prepare for a wait cause they brew the tea after you order, but its worth it! I promise! They come in super (I think reusable) cups with a cute heart-shaped topper! I love the premium mountain tea with lemon (theres a whole lime in there!), the Grapefruit fruit tea, the cantaloup cheese tea, and passion fruit green. Yokee Milk Tea is just like your usual boba shops; they have fruit teas, milk teas, and a whole bunch of options for toppings. Except, this place is actually quite good! So last weekend, I wanted to reward myself after a long day's work with the best treat in the world (boba). After being tired of places like Sharetea and One Zo, I decided to give Yokee Milk Tea a try. Despite the small number of reviews, this placed looked popping so why not? Yokee Milk Tea was located on the outskirts of Oakland's Uptown Neighborhood on Franklin Street. The beauty of this area and the location was that theres' usually MINIMAL TRAFFIC in this area - especially on a Sunday afternoon which is when I stopped by. I was able to pull right up near the boba shop. The thing that sucked about this place was that it's literally a physical "hole-in-the-wall." Basically, the shop was pretty much the size of a dorm room; like they carved out a hole in the building. The downside is that there's very little room inside and so you're pretty much relegated to ordering and leaving (although there are a couple tables inside). They actually had a large number of drinks to choose from - many of which I haven't seen before such as their Volcano. Cost was average, like around $5 a drink. I ended up staying basic and got their Jasmine Green Milk Tea with boba. Unfortunately, it took FOREVER for my drink to be made. I understand because of the traffic, but I probably waited around 20 minutes. Luckily, I didn't have anything else to do. First impressions of Yokee and the drink I got were very positive. The Jasmine Milk Tea was HUGE! And I love that their lids already had holes in them for either big or small straws. In terms of the taste, I thought it was pretty darn good. Felt just like how I wanted it and the tea reminded me of Plentea's version. The tapioca balls were pretty good too. Overall, Yokee was great and I'm definitely going back. I think of all the boba shops around Oakland, this is probably my favorite so far. And I heard their fruit teas were even better than the milk ones! I give this place a "Nice-su, you can take your parents here and they'll be happy" rating. Man, if only their service was better I'd give this place a perfect score. I went with her recommendation of getting the Oolong Milk Tea (she described it as having a roasted flavor) and then added Boba. The drink was $3.50 and most are that price or $4. We got the drinks quickly, and a line soon formed! The place is very small inside. There a couple benches to sit on while waiting but this isn't a place to go in and hang out. My favorite part about this place is how conveniently placed it is so that if I wanna stop by between my commute home, it's right there next to 19th st bart. I also love that you can choose the sweetness AND ice levels since I don't like either (I choose 25% for both). The place is small, but they have some seating. It's not real rose pressed juice but I'll take this as it reminds me of strawberry (replaced with rose) milk from my childhood. I've tried the Durian mousse w/ High Mountain GT and it was so delicious (if you like Durian like me). This is the only place I've found that does Durian flavored mousse/drinks and they know how to do it well. Boba balls are well made too as they're chewy but not slimy. ~Price/Quality/Quantity~ Most drinks run about $3.50-$4.50 and they come in large tall cups (like Teaspoon SF) so it's definitely on par if not cheaper than many other high quality boba places in the area. ~Atmosphere/Service~ There's not much room to stand or sit as it has a very hole in the wall facade. The shop itself is very small--basically just a counter and a couple of stools and basic board games in a corner. The back of the shop is obscured by an opaque barrier so you can't see them making your drink, but from the taste everything seemed like it was from super fresh ingredients! I got the matcha with cheese (75% sweet, which was perfect), and my friend got the classic milk tea (75% sweet as well). They were both AMAZING!! In my matcha drink I could taste both the depth of the matcha as well as the creaminess and saltiness from the cheese, and the boba was right on par. My friend's milk tea had this earthy, almost sweet twinge to it that made it feel so authentic and fresh. It wasn't at all like those crappy syrups and teas that you often find at other boba joints. YUM!!! After the first sip of my fresh milk volcano tea, I knew I'd want a lot more than what was in my cup. The reviews were right, the boba was warm and that's definitely a nice touch to the drink. Cons: besides sweetness, I couldn't customize my volcano drink.. I.e., get grass jelly instead of boba or change the level of ice. I wonder why. And very small inside, only a few seats so most people just wait outside. Pros: the drinks itself!!! So, who cares if there are a couple cons to a Yelp listing :) ! This little gem is tucked away on the outskirts of Oakland Chinatown. I ordered a taro milk tea and it tasted better than what I expected! There were fresh taro bits in the drink that was also really delicious. They were a good size and texture. No complaints, except that the honey sits at the bottom so when you get to the last bit of your drink it's a bit too sweet. They have a good variety of options and solid tea taste as well as all the trends you might want like cheese topping and volcano boba. We had the berry cheese, Black tea with cheese, milk tea crema, and cocoa volcano, all of which were tasty! Prices are fair to expensive and they charge for a drink carrier unless you have 4 drinks. They use the taller plastic topped lids with both sipping and straw options which I love. The only reason it's not a 5 star review is the location : it's a tiny store front but more importantly the parking in this park of Oakland is HORRIBLE. Could not taste any floral, tea notes of jasmine. Really was a loss. They should use non-dairy creamer like most other boba shops. The boba quality itself is average. Good chewiness and softness but was very bland. Drinks took a while to come out. Heard a lot of chatter from the staff (I've worked at Starbucks so I know about food/drink prep speed and am not just being a needy, impatient customer). Wait what is this CHEESE creama? That sounds terrible for my body, but.. but.. cheese crema? I had to try it... I ordered the Cheese Berry. Oh that sounds so terrible yet so good. Sure enough, it was a thick, cheesy creama. Quite tasty against the cold drink. I've been drinking a lot of boba lately. I mean, my last 3 reviews have been all boba places...yet I still find myself very excited to try new boba places. I'm lucky that Oakland Chinatown has a lot of boba places, but they are either too sweet, artificial, or just plain disappointing. So I guess you can say that I didn't have that high of an expectation for Yokee. I don't know what Yokee means, but perhaps it means yummy? I ordered a jasmine boba milk tea with 50% sugar and 50% ice and was really surprised by how much tea flavor I tasted. Usually, it's a gamble with boba places, but the jasmine tea flavor was on point. The boba was good, really chewy, but next time, I think I will just get jasmine milk tea.
