Recently tried out this restaurant and was so impressed by the food! We ordered two specialty sushi rolls and they were both delicious. The drinks were well crafted, but the real star of the show was the brewed tea! I drink herbal tea every day and this was probably the best tea I've ever drank in my life. I had the Clear Skin tea, and will be coming back for it again. Overall, a lovely restaurant and great service, it's going to be one of my regular spots moving forward. read more

Short review: save your money and your pallet. I honestly don't understand these reviews, at all. When you walk in, the place smells like bathroom accident being covered up by deodorizer. My son insisted we stay because of the stellar reviews and he adores sushi. We may be sushi snobs, so if you are not, by all means, ignore this review. Waitstaff is kind but could barely understand anything I said - gluten-free or fresh wasabi, for instance. Miso soup was ok. Seaweed salad subpar at best. These were the best courses!!! Sushi was terrible. 2nd to worst sushi we ever had - colors, flavors and textures are all off in worst ways. Fried rice looked amazing and had excellent amount of veggies...I was so excited. It tasted like it was cooked with old oil in a dirty pan. Tempura looks like it was cooked in corn flour and starch - texture was gross. I left most of the rolls on the table and the fried rice. Wasabi came pressed from a tube with the tube shape still evident and was clearly bad lined with a black hue. I was given this when I asked for fresh wasabi!!! The tea had a film like cup was not washed. No one cared that we did not eat half of our food. They asked, I said I did not care for flavors and they smiled and asked if I wanted to take it home. Save your money!!! I don't eat fast food much, but yesterday I wish I would have eaten Taco Bell over this expensive waste. Do not go if you value quality and cleanliness. It is so sad to write this, the people seem so kind. But folks work hard for their money and deserve a meal on par with expected quality and some basic necessities! read more

I wish I had taken a picture of the most magnificent meal I've had in a long time. It was truly a work of art! I had the Big Daddy Roll. Inside it had Lobster Tempura, snow crab & avocado. On top it had Ebi & avocado. Served with eel sauce & mayo sauce. I also had their house salad with ginger dressing delicious. They always bring a sample of something to try. Chicken Katsu Lunch Platter I'm a frequent regular here and I love bringing my friends and family to this dinner place. But after this encounter meant, I am NEVER going back here. I ordered the lunch special chicken Katsu plate platter and while I was eating the edamame, I noticed there was a cockroach. I was in shock and disgusted. I decided to call the owner to let them know of the situation and she informed me that the chicken Katsu lunch platter shouldn't even have edamames and those were extra free food. That's not the point. The point is there's an actual cockroach on my food and they should at least have the decency to refund part of my order back or offer me a new bento box. I'm done. After arguing on the phone back and forth, I decided I wouldn't waste my breath anymore. I'm NEVER coming back to this place. I gave them the chance to either return part of my money or give me a new order but they did not do neither. Edit: This might have also contributed to a language barrier since I tried to tell the owner 3 different times, it seems like she wasn't understanding since she was focused on the free food part (edamame). Great sushi spot! Me and my boyfriend went here for lunch where they had a great selection of bento boxes! I got the teriyaki steak bento and my bf got the sushi bento. It came with an option of salad or miso soup. We both got the salad. The dressing was delicious but there was a lot mixed in for our liking. The teriyaki steak was tender and it came with sautéed vegetables around it. The sushi was great quality not fishy at all. The other items in the bento were decent as well (Cali roll, spring roll, wonton,fried rice) Great prices and the ambience was nice. This place is totally awesome. Also, I appreciate the fact that they are open pretty late, which is the reason why I came here LOL. For me, when I go to a sushi place, the first thing that I'm looking at is the tightness of the rolls. A lot of sushi places unfortunately do not roll the sushi tight enough and sometimes it collapses when you are trying to eat it with your chopsticks. But I can tell you that at this place, the chefs roll their sushi rolls very tightly and everything stays together. The sushi rice that they use also has flavor and isn't just a plain white rice like everywhere else. The sauce that they use for their shaggy dog roll is very good and tasty. Yokohamaya feels unexpectedly authentic when you walk in. Their ambiance is an accurate indication of the food that they serve, which made me one happy girl. Everything is good. All of it. Stir fry, salad, sashimi, hand rolls. It's all good. I've been frequenting this place for some time and I've yet to be disappointed with their service or quality of ingredients. It's also actually my favorite sushi place to order out from. They offer inexpensive delivery through the Yelp app. The head sushi chef keeps me coming back. He's the sweetest man, proud of his work, and a social bug! I love it. The hospitality he offers includes a sake sample for his regulars - or at least for me. :-) At times he delivers and is always interested in following up on how my order was. This Japanese Restaurant is probably one of our favorite spot here in Cypress. The service is amazing. Always so attentive and courteous. The chef greets you from the sushi bar and always sends you with their signature cucumber salad to taste. I love this mini salad. All the rolls are super good. We have tried several, everything we had been here and this probably one of the best things we love from this restaurant because the rolls are well made and the rice layer is thin and stuff with real seafood. The Kani salad was awesome because the crab was in big chunks, the ginger dressing on the house salad was killer, but the gyoza was just ok in my opinion (I have had better). My family has been coming to this restaurant and order to go since they first opened. I order the same items on the menu everytime. I was under the weather today so I asked my son to order for me. When he arrived home, everything was correct except one dish. I called to place a correct order, they kept questioning me and I explicitly said I don't mind paying for the correct order. At this point, I said nevermind and he said ok and still tried to blame me for placing the wrong order.
