It was our first time. We were greeted right away but it was pretty empty at 1 pm on a Friday. There was only another table who already had their food. The ice tea was not brewed long so it tasted like water more than tea, it did not taste good. My favorite fresh brewed ice tea is at Whataburger and CFA. They have a lunch deal with selected rolls 2 for $15 or 3 for $19. It is a clean and quiet restaurant with pretty good service. The food was just ok. The sauce on one of the rolls was too thick and salty. It was the same sauce used for dipping the 6 pieces of super chewy over cooked calamari we ordered for the appetizer. The hibachi fried rice and chicken teriyaki dish was ok. The rice was not seasoned much so it tasted like just rice and soy sauce mixed together. The food was ok but we probably will not return. The best item that I really enjoyed was the house salad. The older gentleman waiter was nice and very attentive, this is why I gave this place the 2nd star. I do not know how they have such high stars to be completely honest. The Yoko Japanese restaurant with the hibachi chef cooking table side near Yogurtland was much better. Love this Cypress local restaurant. They offer generous sashimi cuts and their sushi rolls are delicious. I usually don't order sushi rolls at restaurants but I do it here because their rolls are loaded with fish and topping while the rice is very thin. They don't try to "cheat" with cucumbers or extra rice to have less fresh fish. This is the best sushi place in Houston, not just the food but the service and atmosphere.. Long story short my 5 year old loves sushi she asks for it all the time so finally we take her on her birthday that's where she wanted to go for lunch, she was so excited to have her favorite meal and the hostess which I'm assuming is the manager or owner over heard it was her birthday and started playing the birthday song instead of the music that was playing inside the restaurant and brought out ice cream with a candle. How special my little girl felt, and how happy it made my husband and I to see her feel that way from a total stranger. I love this place and will recommend to friends and family as well. First time trying the place. Restaurant was nice and quaint. Was thinking it would be like most other sushi restaurants but this one was impressive in that it had a variety of sushi to choose from. Like I was eating a hot dog sushi with mustard. Sushi was mediocre, and they tried to amplify the mediocre taste with the extra sauce. It didn't taste fresh either. So 5min pass, 10min pass and 15min pass without anyone asking if we have been helped nor anyone say that your waiter will be with you soon... Keep in mind there was 2 waiters walking right passed us and said nothing... I can understand that they might be busy or short handed, but with NO ONE acknowledging us was unacceptable... Recently tried out this restaurant and was so impressed by the food! We ordered two specialty sushi rolls and they were both delicious. The drinks were well crafted, but the real star of the show was the brewed tea! I drink herbal tea every day and this was probably the best tea I've ever drank in my life.
