We are happy Yonah Burger has reopened. There have been some obvious renovations to the inside and to the bathrooms. Brian greeted us and took our order upon entering. I ordered a Slaw Dog with Chili and Fries. The Captain ordered a Single Hamburger and Slaw. The hamburger appears to be a hand patty and was good. The Slaw Dog with Chili was not hot. Brian did try to make good by bringing another, but it was the same temperature. I'm perplexed. If it had been hot, it would have been a hot dog "out of the park" but I just couldn't wrap my mouth around a cold dog. On another critique...there was no toilet paper in the women's restroom and the table we sat at had not been wiped down. We really want to like it, but this visit was not remarkable. We will however try again because we have always liked stopping at the Yonah Burger when in the area.

Burger. Fries were cooked well too

This is a very "alright" burger joint we found on our way to and from some hiking trails. Mediocre but not bad at ALL and the servers were super friendly. Fam of four ordered burgers and we all left happy. I subbed onion rings and they were a greasy mess so I didn't eat them. ‍ Super casual place that's very family friendly. The bathroom was nice and clean. If it was convenient I believe we would go back.

Second visit to this establishment, my first visit was many years ago. Overall, the food is just simply average. I ordered a burger with everything and side of fries. Burger did not taste especially fresh and it was not juicy. Fries were basic, frozen crinkle cut. Staff was friendly and the restaurant sits off the highway looking up at scenic Yonah Mountain. Inside the place feels a bit empty and cold.

    Can't miss it!

Was coming up to hike and had to get a Yonah burger and onion rings .... first in a long time! What great juicy flame broiled burgers!! Had a few people inside, had it sectioned off and all in masks- most everyone eating burgers. Mountain little place everybody knows right before the mountain trails and really like packing a burger then eating it on top of the mountain. This is what yonah burger is for! Love it here!

Decent burger joint in the area. Very convenient and tasty after a long hike. We came right around 2:50pm and they said they were closing soon so we'd have to get our food to go which was fine with us. We didn't actually receive our food until 3:30pm which was a little ridiculous for 2 burgers with tater tots and fries. The staff were really nice though and let us eat inside since it took so long. Not the best burger I've ever had but it did hit the spot.

Good burgers - me and my German Shepherd ate on the back of my truck on a great fall day in 2019. Nice people working there and saw some people getting ice cream. Sadly, I resisted the dessert post-burger. Nice city to visit. Good place to eat after hiking Yonah Mountain. (https://amzn.to/43cKHsr - fun book about bad reveiws btw)

Yonah Burger benefits from the brewery next door and out of town traffic. I'm not sure a local would visit considering the price, the inaccuracies of orders, and lack of having it together to serve customers. We ordered two hamburgers with everything, no cheese requested. Cheese is extra, which is fine. We just didn't want it. We called ahead to order because they're notorious for long waits for food. Good luck finding a phone number. The one list on yelp doesn't work. There are two separate facebook pages, one with the old number and one with no number. You have to message the business for their number. I'll save you time: 706-865-0114. The person taking the order didn't ask for a name and we spent a lot of time listening to each other breathe. We get our food and cheese was added. If you don't like cheese or can't eat it, this causes a problem. We made the mistake of not checking the order before we left. The burgers are big, but sides are small. Both the onion rings and fries were good. The burger was fine, nothing special. It was on a bun a little sweeter than we like, but still good. The price for 2 burgers and sides was $22. It's clear they are still trying to figure it all out, so we will give them another try.

Not sure what the buzz is all about. Living in the area, we stopped in for a quick lunch on a week day. I had the single cheeseburger onion ring combo. The price was fair for the portion size but nothing stood out to us about these burgers as they were cooked to death. My coca cola was poured from a flat 2 liter. The onion rings were tasty. Everything was just ok

Favorite burger place when in the area. Eat outside or in. Krinkle cut fries are the best. Good and fresh with great views as well.

First timer stood in line for 10 min only to have the window slammed shut in my face . Very confusing place for a first time visit . What is the correct way to order here?

Im so sorry that happened. They close the screen to keep flys out. I never order outside i always go in to the order area. Try that and complain to the owner. There is a tragic labor shortage in helen.

Hidden Gem Alert…read more Some places spend millions trying to manufacture "authentic." The Open Door at Alley's Ol' Store apparently skipped that meeting and just kept being authentic. The building looks exactly like what you'd hope to stumble across while wandering the North Georgia mountains. Rustic. Colorful. Cozy. The kind of place that makes you instinctively slow down because you know there's probably something interesting inside. Parking is a bit of a scavenger hunt, but that's part of the adventure. If you're expecting a six-level parking garage with valet service, you've made several wrong turns. The staff immediately made us feel like we'd wandered into Papaw's store and the grandkids were helping out for the afternoon. Two young ladies were running the place, one at the register and one making sandwiches. They weren't reciting a corporate script or trying to upsell me a rewards program. They were just genuinely friendly people who actually seemed happy we stopped in. Imagine that. This isn't a restaurant pretending to be a country store. It is a country store. There's no fancy dining room either. You can eat on the little front porch if it's available, but we grabbed our sandwiches and walked across the street to the riverside park. Honestly, I can't think of many lunches that end with eating beside a mountain river and making a few casts with a fishing rod before heading down the road. That's hard to beat. Now let's talk sandwiches. Three of us ordered the Harvest. Presentation? Maybe a 7 out of 10. Nobody is arranging edible flowers with tweezers back there. It's toasted store-bought bread filled with ingredients that simply belong together. Sometimes food doesn't need to perform gymnastics. It just needs to taste good. And it did. Every bite reminded me that somewhere along the way we've confused "artisan presentation" with "good cooking." The Harvest isn't trying to become internet famous. It's just quietly being delicious. My brother ordered the meatloaf sandwich, and if he wasn't already family, I probably would've stolen half of it. He declared it fantastic with exactly the right amount of condiments. The grandkids inhaled their grilled cheese and ham & cheese without a single negotiation, which every parent knows is basically a Michelin star. One thing that really caught my attention was the steady parade of locals coming in for takeout. That's the kind of review you can't fake. Locals vote with their wallets every day, and this place clearly keeps getting elected. Here's another tip: don't skip the neighboring art gallery. My daughter wandered in and came back smiling. The manager wasn't just selling artwork. She was telling stories. She explained the history of the area, how it shaped the artists, and why certain pieces existed. You could tell she genuinely loved what she was talking about. That's becoming a rare commodity these days. By the time we left, I realized something. The Open Door doesn't have the polish of a big destination restaurant. It doesn't need dramatic plating, twelve-word menu descriptions, or foam strategically placed with tweezers. It has something much harder to create. Character. If you're driving through Lakemont, call ahead if you're in a hurry. If you're not, browse the store, visit the gallery, grab a sandwich, walk across to the river, and stay awhile. Some places feed your stomach. Places like this feed your trip. That's the definition of a hidden gem.

We stopped in with our grandkids to get desserts after picnicking at the park across the road. I…read morehave a small service dog for a serious medical condition. The woman behind the register needs some training on how to handle service dogs because her response was embarrassing and uncalled for. She rolled her eyes and nodded her head and said "ohhhhkayyyyyy" and walked back behind the counter. We left without patronizing this establishment.
